I think this planet is the one from the beg of Prometheus , and those are the descendents so to speak of that engineer that sacrifice himself , and maybe those humanoids view them as gods , bc it seems they may have some more advance technology like the scorpion tail ship but i think those are used only by their ''gods''
Percy Shelley's "Ozymandias" I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away. Themes The central theme of "Ozymandias" is contrasting the inevitable decline of all leaders and of the empires they build with their pretensions to greatness.
The ampules are the vase-like containers with black goo in them - if you look at the back wall, you can see them moving up and over the tracks like ammo in a belt or bombs in a rack. This means the walls in the Headroom, the pilot chamber and the original egg room are also likely movement systems.... We know the Holograms use suspended particles too - I bet the whole ship is one big superconductor that can move matter around.
It seems pretty clear after listening the actual footage of what David says, that David's compassion for Shaw is not only genuine but growing stronger. It's not a smoke screen to trick her (or the audience) into trusting him. He's protecting her by not waking her. We'll see this duo in the next sequel for sure.
I feel that the fact that the people whom David ultimately kills in the arena are cheering tells us a bit more about who they really are. One theory I have is that they are yet another race created by the Engineers (which is why they and their architecture look different to Engineers) and that they are much less advanced, possibly being a more recent experiment made by the Engineers. More than likely, they see Engineers as gods or at least powerful benefactors who bring some form of prosperity to them, but after they were clearly destroyed by their creation of the accelerant, they have not returned in some time. It's probable these new people built their city around the docking platform for religious reasons, given it surrounds it rather than being integrated with it.
Thinking that Shaw stays asleep and is awaken at the end of the movie. Don't think we will see her again until the end of the movie. Thus setting her up to be in the next movie. Just a thought.
When the Juggernaut arrives to Paradise, you can hear all the engineer people screaming, well more so cheering with excitement of the ships arrival. I thought that was interesting.
Zedrick My theory is that they are cheering because they believe that the Juggernaut ship has completed the mission and whiped out humanity, even though it would be a little weird as the mission was supposed to be done more than 2000 years ago, shouldn't the engineers have noticed that something was wrong? Anyway, maybe they just didn't care that it took the soldiers 2000 years to kill us, and just cheered for our extinction. But little did they realize that humanity is just fine, and that a human-made android has learned their nature, that they only make lifeforms to later be killed and used as weapons for biological warfare against other species. So David, learning the horrible truth, figured there was no use in trying to meet them as he and Shaw would most likely get killed, and the engineers would realize that the mission failed and would thus send another ship to finish the job. So to avoid another Juggernaut heading to earth, David decided to kill them all instead, as he has learned through the kindness of Shaw, that humans are worth more saving than the war-like engineers. Quite a nice display of Karma I would say.
interesting theory but what about alien then ? if david went through hassle to "infect" covenant crue there must be more to it ? does he think he should sacrifice covenant ship in order to deliver xenos to other engineer worlds to "save" humanity through sacrificing people this way
Alex K Maybe the death of the covenant crew was accidental. David could have turned on the beacon to attract other engineers to kill. Maybe he didn't think that humans would pick up the signal.
I was thinking it was more likely that this particular civilization is less advanced than the one seen in Prometheus, possibly another product of their creation, similar to how they did with humanity. They treat the Engineers as gods, building their city around the massive docking platform and they're celebrating the return of an Engineer ship. It would explain why their architecture looks different and why they themselves look different to the Engineers in Prometheus.
I don't think David brought them to the home world. I thinks it's an engineer colony. They are not pale or wearing biomechanic suits. These guys are pink and and seem more like farmers are "commoners".
well but if you think about it... queen is mother to the aliens. She is the caring maternal figure for them, the one thy want and need to protect. It woudl make sort of...wicked sense for Shaw to be turned into this beeing, espexialy if she was unable to bare children before.... And crazed David would see it as benefaction towards her, reparing her, as she repared him...
he cant have relationships based on bonding. He sticks to the weyland agenda through his internal program routines. Even in Prometheus he did not like to safe her, but to preserve her for futher examinations. One of the last orders of Weyland to David in Prometheus was to improve. So he did and started experimenting with black goo by infecting shaws boyfriend. It´s nothing personal, when David does researching.
He is definitely going to go against her later. I really think she was still in cryo when he bombed the engineers. When he wakes her up, he tells her the engineers were already dead when they arrived and killed by the same weapon they were going to use on the humans. Very sad and disappointed, Shaw try's to make a living on the barren planet ( you see human vegetation growing in the previous trailers). Later I assume Shaw find out what David did to the engineers. Angry, she wants to dismantle him, however he has the upper arm and ties her up in a crucifixes position, and uses her to harbinger the alien queen. It won't end well for her.
I think he just got cabin fever, just like Call from resurrection, they forget they're robots, that's what I'm betting, plus him saying that he leaned about them before arriving, probably he read about them being so smug and heartless that he said fuck it, gunna kill em lol.
Kudos to you for getting this up so quickly. As for what the footage shows, I have a bit of a problem with this is it does happen that David kills all of the engineers in this scene. It's an entire planet, so it just seems way too convenient for the entire species to be gathered in this one place. Also, it could happen that the Covenant finds a signal and goes to investigate, but short of that, it's also very unlikely that they would randomly land exactly where they need to for the plot to occur.
Everybody's talking about Shaw's death and blaming David but....what if she's not dead? Maybe at the time the Covenant arrived to the planet she was still in cryosleep!I like the idea of David transforming Shaw in the Alíen queen but without killing her.Just using " a portion of her DNA".And i think he'd do that in homage to her and the "love" i think he started to feel for her.And for giving her the chance to create life finally
At 2:07....as the docking ship is meeting David's ship...on ground level there is another hatch opening......if David releases the "pods" would they fall down the hatch that opened up at ground level?
Great review, but where did you pull the last prologue shots of the payload dropping and the image of the actual engineers below the ship? I can't find this footage.
David though he was in Alien Covenant VR and decided to save game before he tested out spawning in a million black goo ampules... He got a load of lag which caused the juggernaut to crash and then he hit a checkpoint and couldn't revert to his previous save game.
2:41 does anyone else see the profile of a xenomorph head in the star-map? it looks like it has it's jaw opened to the right. is that what it is supposed to show or is that fore-shadowing?
If you look at the video at 07:22 it seems to me like the "main docking ship" is further away, but moves closer as the "new" ship arrives. and then the hole opens up. Maybe the "Hole"'s main purpose is to rid something from the incoming ship and then dock and deliver whatever has too be delivered. It looks like they couldn't have dropped the containers from the "docked" position the ship takes because of the position the "incoming ship" has when it finally docks. Maybe it;s just a clever trailer cut
Had a great Alien day! I missed out on the livestream because of work but hey nick happy (late) alien day! I had watched the first 2 Alien films for Alien day and then started reading the new Alien Dead Orbit comic! Oh god this is so awesome the juggernaut like docks into the mothers!?!
Why David drops the payload and kills them all ?I think 2 possibilities1)While learning about the engineers he finds out how radical and determined are for killing humanity and that they would kill them both at mere sight so he decides to attack first(since there is no going back).2)He learns so much about the black goo realizing the possibilities of creation and decides to use them as test subjects.Regarding The "Engineers "I think they are other Humanoids that have been influenced by the Real Engineers, having some left over tech there, they are awaiting for their masters return, and they thought they returned and rejoiced( we know what happened afterwards).Other possibility is that they are a faction of Engineers that practices Asceticism at this planet, a planet that has strong religious influence, that has some ties to their religious origins but no necessarily the origin of their race (hence the misinterpretation of David when asked to take them were they are coming from). They would all be male monks and live on the only City of this Holy planet with limited technology, maybe only the docking platform to receive infrequent travelers or new citizens from their homeworld.
I like your theory. They do look very different from the previous Engineers we were introduced to. The other Engineers looked very militaristic and I doubt they would allow an unannounced ship to enter their airspace unchallenged. Kind of like the Ancient Astronaut theory, but with this race instead. The Engineers created them and gave them some technology and they patiently waited for their creators arrival again.
Honestly, this mini-movie was all I ever needed in terms of a Prometheus sequel. Now I'll just think of covenant as a new alien movie, rather than a follow up to Prometheus
Hey nick what are your thoughts with Shaw entering the sleep chamber and under the grey cloak is white clothing. Very similar to the shot of Davids lair when we see the white body with brownish red hair and opened up at the chest? Maybe Shaw confirmed? 🤔
Here is my theory: David discovered something about the Engineers on the juggernaut that led him to decide to wipe them out!! Shaw wake up and discover what he did, now it is either she crashes the ship or the Engineers in the mother Juggernaut shoot it down. I guess David didn't created these eggs but found them and studied them but he wants to see what they do to humans. There might be a plot twist that is Walter who might be the one who discovered the eggs and wants to experiment on humans ?!!
I was thinking that as well, he probably is alone on the ship for a long time, who knows what he finds or what kind of reasoning he does and what kind of conclusion he comes to, he his an AI after all. I think they get fired upon by the engineers when they get attacked by him, then crash. It may be that Shaw dies in that crash.
Listening to the Prometheus commentary with Ridley he says David is very smart with a IQ over 300. He finds out facts that leads him to his decision to unleash the biological weapon on them. He's a machine so it should be a very calculated action not acting upon "feels" otherwise the plot sucks
Trestan Emperor Im guessing David starts his experiment as soon as he releases the weapon. He has tons of humanoids to work on, once the covenant crew arrives he has allready created the xenomorph queen. He probably wants the crew to be incubated to see if he can complete the circle of life once they hatch from the crew members chests. I think the whole movie is about the crew arriving to Davids Frankenstein:ish lab with different vicious creatures made by him just roaming free on the planet. But the covenant crew arriving makes a perfect testing ground for his final test: which is making the xenomorph breed itself and completing the circle of life.
I think they should release the movie early and put us out of our misery! Love the breakdowns you have been doing, this is a massive clip they have let us see so I think that might be all we are going to get till release day. I hope it's in cinema's here in the u.k the same day you guys get it in the u.s. keep up the good work :)
I went to the Alien Day screening of the original Alien yesterday and saw the other bonus scenes from AC after the film. Will there be a HN video on those scenes? The third and final one was AMAZING and brutal. I won't spoil it in my comments but it was the lead-up and aftermath of the back burster scene. I was blown away!
I don't think it's a spoiler necessarily. "Prologue" was included in the title and Ridley Scott said the clip takes place between Prometheus and Covenant. It would be a spoiler however for those that didn't want to know or see any media from Covenant and just wanted to watch the film when it came out. If Fox is spoiling their movies then I hate the direction a lot of movie studios are going where they give is us too much info on their upcoming film, which other people in the comment section believe is the case today
It would be pretty lame if David turned Shaw into the queen. It's just so over the top. It would be better to me if it was a byproduct of a hyperevolution or hyperadaptability capability that the Neomorph develops. It generates the ability to procreate outside of direct meddling from David. Can't wait to see the movie either way!
I like to think the Queen in Aliens is a unique individual xenomorph. It would be great if they did something different with Shaw, turning her into a queen seems definitely outlandish. At the very least they should do something slightly more original.
David seems to really start feeling :O as he states he got injured, says we gonna meet our creators, and obviously he is somewhat into shaw. They grow up so fast ^^
and i really love davids face expressions at the very end. you can feel that hes full of anger and disgust. Are there even glimps of tears in his eyes?
I couldn't agree more...I am loving all this hype and pre release specials.. I have been waiting 5 years and I want my answers...I need to know!!! I am so happy Sir Ridley is going forward with the themes and subjects he explored in Prometheus.
So we saw this scene last night at our Prometheus/Alien screening, and I have to wonder....do we know for sure that this is a part of the Covenant movie?
I don't think these are spoilers as the studio is very carefully releasing things for the marketing. Prometheus and this movie have very interactive campaigns.
BTW, do you join different speech clips together, or you speak just like that? Would be nice if you took a little pause; just like how we use comma and period in the writing. 😔
Looks like David telling the story to Covenant crew (I guess this will be half way the movie). The city dome building remind of similar dome in engineers outpost base from Prometheus. What about "big things have small beginnings" David? Must be something big to kill whole city or entire civilisation before even landing on the ground. Hope we will get some more about them not only the glimpse before annihilation.
HappiestSadGuy Yep! Those engineers thought they could get away with trying to wipe out humanity. They said fuck us, so fuck them too! Rain hell on them David. Rain FUCKING hell!
the giant building in the engineer city can actually be seen in earlier trailers. In trailer 2 you might see the same building but with dead corpses surrounding it.
I watched Alien today in a theatre here in Belgium and actually saw +/- 10 minutes of some fucking badass footage of Alien covenant. I'm so ready. The prologue looked amazing and I hope that's the intro to this movie, it would be so amazing to see it as an opening. The rest of what they showed as well was very awesome, very dark as well. Alien covenant and Justice League are going to be my favourite movies of 2017 maybe ever. Although topping the original Alien is a very hard thing to do. Alien day was amazing and the poster I got as well. Bring it on Ridley.
I'd like to believe that Shaw is unaware of the cannister dropping, but deep down something tells me that David and Shaw end up in a confrontation over that.. after the crash. I believe the crash land of the spaceship is due to that forgotten worm that attacked one of the crew members back in Prometheus. I think it was probably by pure accident, but if this is the same ship that carried the worm that fled after attacking... perhaps what ends up happening is this worm reappears. Since it is a maggot touched by black goo, then into a glorified worm, my theory is that worm cacoons into an Alien Queen and lays the eggs inside the ship.
Got a feeling he doesn't wake Shaw up. Might be another reason why finding her dog tags is a big thing. This bombing scene is going to be simply amazing, can't wait to see it. Not to mention you can see additional canisters rolling UP the wall, assuming to be loaded and dropped as well. Considering that the entire payload is dropped (assuming at the very least most of it) and the Covenant crew find no signs of life on Paradise. Makes you wonder if there are other life forms not dissolved but mutated from the black goo that they may encounter. Like an entire ecosystem...mutated by the goo. Obviously the plants have been affected with the spore we've seen, but wonder what else we'll see. Love the vids btw. Happy Alien Day everyone!
When shaw goes into the hypersleep chamber her hair is short but in other shots her hair is long. Are those shots before she goes to sleep and she cuts her hair? Or does she get woken up long before the destination is reached?
Percy Shelley used to live near me as it goes. Ozymandias is one of my favorite poems. I named my cat Ozy after it. It's all about how gods and kings end up forgotten in time no matter how mighty they think they are. Quite appropriate considering the story.
As you watched from the video David has too much compassion for Shaw to hurt her. He won't turn her into a alien queen or anything like that. That's why he sent a signal out for the covenant crew to come out.
NO one seems to mention why that big space ship that seems to be pointing down is hovering towards the city from the other side where davids ship comes into the city as if its there to greet it... looks like a really odd shaped ship
Why did all the engineers suddenly gather? It seems they almost anticipated the arrival or some such. Perhaps they were expecting the goo to be dropped? Perhaps its not so much david as actively doing something, but more so not stopping what was expected or supposed to happen?
medievalman86 Seen this explanation on some comments and this is what I think is happening too. These engineers cheering are just another creation of the real ones worshipping them. You can see this city is built around the docking platform into which the juggernaut attaches rather that the docking platform being integrated into the infrastructure. Also the city doesn't seem to be too advanced. The buildings are made out of rock, no vehicles or major roadways to be seen and the docking area seems to be a field of dirt and sand. Can't see any kind of transportation system which I think adds evidence to the fact that they are a species made by the engineers that treat them like gods.
my question would be can the engineers on this planet alert other existing engineers from other planet that they were attacked? maybe we would encounter more engineers coming from other places to the rescrue for the next movie?
I think the hooded person at 8:56 is Shaw, I don't think that David turned her into an alien queen or experimented her. Well maybe, but I like Shaw XD I mean just like Ellen Ripley, I think Shaw stands out and is a very fitting protagonist for Prometheus, to me okay. Well I hope that she'll be this "wise person" archetype for Alien Covenant
If the events in Covenant take place ten years after the events in Prometheus and Shaw gets put into cryo-sleep, do you think it's possible she was in cryo-sleep for most of the 10 years the covenant way flying to Paradise? Do you think it's possible Shaw only aged 1 or 2 years since Prometheus and we could still see her in this film? Also, Preditors keep an Alien queen on each of their motherships. Why wouldn't Engineers have Alien eggs? They created humanity and are at very least all over the galaxy, Engineers have been around Aliens a long time already. Remember the Alien mural on the wall? they could've harvested those eggs at any point, just saying it's not a big mystery.
I think that David learns something about the engineers while on the ship and that causes him to do what he does to them. it would not surprise me if Shaw has been kept in stasis this whole time and is discovered by the Covenant crew. I also think the black goo is derived from the xenos themselves.
I'm starting to have a feeling that David isn't a TRUE antagonist. I think he is a more a tragic antagonist who has gone insane with grief over Shaw or with hatred for the Engineers or someother such powerful, overwhelming emotional motive. I really have a feeling that he has been drawn into this state of being, rather than logically or reasonably choosing to take on this mantle.
Hmm from the short prologue something went wrong after Shaw went into stasis seeing that David arrived in good health to there destination and Shaw not standing with him she has been either left intentionally or accidentally incapacitated or may still be in stasis as David has chosen to take matters into his own hands.
Ive just realised, The Weave of the Hooded Creator Engineers is the same as the weave in the Shroud of Turin, anyone noticed this? Its the herringbone Weave.
If you notice, you can hear the crowd of engineers below. Are they cheering or yelling? And why is a ship docking a special occasion for the whole city to gather in the middle?
Shaw: What if they are no better than us David: So long as they are not worse. you didn't mention this? I think it is very pertinent. He then walks by himself and learns of their "works" and (according to my speculations) seemingly does not like what he discovers as he then goes on to "Look on my works, ye mighty, and Despair!" Also I see more an internal surprise, curiosity and gratitude from David as Shaw fixes him, I don't see the nefarious aspect you mention (although it probably exists due to his nature perhaps)
anybody has an idea of what kind of organic material did the Engineer at the beginning of Prometheus take? was it the black goo? if so, does that mean that David is starting a new Earth(goo+engineers=Terra Nova)?
here My Theory: David puts shaw to sleep and does not wake her up on arrival. He has been receiving and taking further orders from the Wayland Corp after the death of Peter and Vicekrs, the company i can guarantee is aware fo EVERYTHING that went down and IS still going on. So, much like ash from the 1st "alien" he may be 1.) taking orders and carrying them out behind her back as he was to the crew in prometheus, and 2.) after not being up kept for a long time or possible errors in his rewiring my shaw, could lead to him "Snapping". This may then cause him to act in this manner to do what he will do. My second theory is that she doesn't survive the hyper sleep and when he wakes her shes dying or dead. It then effects david in such a way he begins to lose it or.....after she passes the company tells him to do this so that they can never again go back to earth to destroy it. This is exactly how the company would act and ask David to carrying out that order. Also, he may have more programming by Weyland himself, in case of his death so that too will play a part. The entire shaw being an alien queen just doesnt make sense to me. Why? Well, the Xenomorphs as we know them have been around for as long as that LV-223 mural was painted SHOWING a Normal Xenomorphs hands around a Face-Hugger Egg as if it was placing it down. So........how is it even possible 1.) David Created the Aliens and 2.) he uses Shaw to create a queen.? it simply is not. xenos and many other types of aliens are created with the black goo, in many different ways and methods. It will react different to different people, situations, victims, etc. That was stated before the movie even came out back in 2012, on the website. So, I believe Shaw may still be in hyper sleep when he does this. She may however be awoken after what he does and maybe a confrontation occurs? Then she then crashes the ship into the side of the mountain, dying on impact trying to stop David realizing he is taking orders from the Weyland Company. Though she may be mad at the 1 engineer from LV-223, i doubt she wants to massacre a entire race. Also, these are NOT engineers, they are just simply another humanoid race that may have taken over after their creators departed, or....the engineer we see in Prometheus is not actually a REAL engineer but another creation by the REAL engineers, which may be the beings on the home world of Paradise. Who knows. All i know is that it will goe one of those ways somehow...and the aliens we see may simply just be accelerated experiments, of what the goo may naturally do over a long period of time. ya know? so David may know of them already, but simply be trying to create them faster on this planet then maybe a default time frame for the goo to do the very same thing. again, he is still ever learning. So people need to realize that this goo creates different types of aliens. not all the same type. so, that being the case, evolution naturally through time with the ecosystem, world, and black goo may be what eventually creates and finalize the Xenomorph species and life cycle. Not David Himself, that would be extremely dumb and disappointing good vid mate! Can't wait for this movie.
perhaps David uncovered something that was bad or he didnt think shaw would like and decided it was best to kill the engineers rather than risk contact. because he was left alone for a in-determinant amount of time and he said he learned everything he could of the engineers.
I'm thinking that David appreciated Shaw's compassion and remembered how brutal and relentless the engineers were. And that's where the line from the trailer "or any worse" comes into play. He thinks they are worse than humans and sees them as a species without compassion and therefore shows them the same amount of compassion. Just my theory
Nick here's a concern that I have and you tell me if it's valid or not. If Convenant does to well at the box office then we'll to many more alien films. I think we all want just two questions answered, first who made the aliens and secondly where did the space jockey come from?
if the ship had a database of some sort I believe David either studied their culture and/or found out about their plans, he probably found out either something really horrible about the engineers or found out they would be the perfect experiment. I believe it's the former since David's look as he unleashes the black goo is more of a look of resolve and a bit sad. as if he feels kind of sad for the entire race that's about to be wiped but it's still something he HAS to do.
1) Still don't think they're Engineers, 2) I'm on-board with your Shaw-as-Alien Queen idea, 3) I don't see David's expression in that shot as 'sinister'. At all. 4) I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear: ‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: *Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'* Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
07:48 - In the back of the angry engineer, there is a human looking person wearing a hat... Its just me or for someone else it feels like he shouldn't be on the picture? he is the only one with a hat AND looking to somewhere else.
Speculation: David unleashes the ampules on the population thinking this is is Paradise (I begin to think it might not be after all) after he discovers how to use what is in the ampules as a bioweapon to kill (not to infect), this also leads to the death of the surrounding animal life (remember the lack of animal sounds after the Covenant scout team lands). He's kept Shaw in hyper sleep to spare her the destruction he intends to rain down on this civilization. After David does this, he attempts to leave the planet and is shot down by weaponry on the landing platform or another ship that we won't see until the film opens (perhaps underground in the large hole that you see opening in the middle of the city center. David then crash lands the ship and Shaw is either a) killed immediately, b) wakes up and realizes what Dave has done and tries to stop him, but he kills her, c) Wakes up and is infected again by the residual spores floating around after Dave drops the ampules on the city center and is killed immediately or d) wakes up, is infected, but since she has been infected before, does not die immediately, but is being slowly transformed into a host (queen) for the xenomorphs. Perhaps David's experiments on the Engineers the you see in his "workshop" are his attempt to find a cure for Shaw, or they are his creations to unleash on the rest of the Engineers civilization. This Prologue actually makes me hope that Covenant is more than just an Alien movie as now the Engineers and their civilization are now way more interesting than in Prometheus.
I'm thinking David found out something about the Engineers during his study of them that made him attempt to destroy them. After seeing this trailer, i definitely don't believe Shaw is dead.
IMHO I think that David didn't wake Shaw up so he could do other experiments with alien goo, possibly turning Shaw into alien creature or even alien queen (we can see eggs in trailer and someone had to lay them)
Happy Alien Day! What are you guys doing to celebrate? Also the Ozymandias poem is actually "Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Celebrating in a Sanctuary City!
Can we really call them engineers at this point ? i mean were are the black eyes , the muscular build , the much bigger hight , the white pale skin and the bio-mech teh especially , get it ? those are either some com dif type of egineers or a dif race , i think those are another race of humanoids , their city also look quite ancient . I think this planet is the one from the beg of Prometheus , and those are the descendents so to speak of that engineer that sacrifice himself , and maybe those humanoids view them as gods , bc it seems they may have some more advance technology like the scorpion tail ship but i think those are used only by their ''gods''
Did you win the reaction race? Great vid, man. :)
That's my issue. They almost look like an engineered hybrid race similar to ourselves.
this scene will appear in the final film or not?
Percy Shelley's "Ozymandias"
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Themes
The central theme of "Ozymandias" is contrasting the inevitable decline of all leaders and of the empires they build with their pretensions to greatness.
funeralforatrend nice one for that.its given some context for me cheers.cant wait for the film
Pretty cool that we see the wall ribs are actually weapon tracks designed to move ampules around....
Shane Simon : Awesome observation.
good eye
Shane Simon what's amplues?
The ampules are the vase-like containers with black goo in them - if you look at the back wall, you can see them moving up and over the tracks like ammo in a belt or bombs in a rack.
This means the walls in the Headroom, the pilot chamber and the original egg room are also likely movement systems....
We know the Holograms use suspended particles too - I bet the whole ship is one big superconductor that can move matter around.
i thought the same. it looks awesome
It seems pretty clear after listening the actual footage of what David says, that David's compassion for Shaw is not only genuine but growing stronger. It's not a smoke screen to trick her (or the audience) into trusting him. He's protecting her by not waking her. We'll see this duo in the next sequel for sure.
at one point in the prologue he even goes as far as to say he's her guardian or protector, If I'm not mistaken?
That's awesome the Hybrid network got a shout out you deserve it your videos are awesome so Congratulations!! and Happy Alien Day!!
Thinking that Shaw stays asleep and is awaken at the end of the movie. Don't think we will see her again until the end of the movie. Thus setting her up to be in the next movie. Just a thought.
mike cal I hope
mike cal you just have me some hope. I pray that's the case lol few more weeks
well the next one is called Awakening so she probably is found at the finale.
That's be so lit
chickensnatch hell yea
seen this clip about 30 mins ago...been waiting for hybrid to make sense of it
When the Juggernaut arrives to Paradise, you can hear all the engineer people screaming, well more so cheering with excitement of the ships arrival.
Esteban Romero That would be great. I hope your theory is how everything goes down.
interesting theory but what about alien then ? if david went through hassle to "infect" covenant crue there must be more to it ? does he think he should sacrifice covenant ship in order to deliver xenos to other engineer worlds to "save" humanity through sacrificing people this way
Alex K Maybe the death of the covenant crew was accidental.
It does feel like they are a colony on a world that his not their original world.
So that means Shaw didn't plant the wheat that we see in the first trailer
davids relationship with shaw was very good in prometheus and it seems to continue here. i dont think david will make shaw a queen tho.
well but if you think about it... queen is mother to the aliens.
It´s nothing personal, when David does researching.
he is a sociopath. he can't have any empathy or attarchment because he is a robot. or maybe i am reading too much into this crappy movie))
Well the matter is David is more of AI. He IS able to have personal feelings and opinions.
Hey dud did you notice the combination in music? It sounded both like Alien and Prometheus. So well done.
Haha I love the commentator on these videos - your comments about the marketing being irresistible are so on point. I cannot WAIT either haha.
There is no way Shaw was fine with this.
I agree.
Hence why David probably didn't wake her back up.
He's likely kept her in stasis.
Great review, but where did you pull the last prologue shots of the payload dropping and the image of the actual engineers below the ship? I can't find this footage.
They are images released from Empire and Entertainment Weekly! imgur.com/a/Sak2p
Awesome, thanks for the response!
guess its not a good idea to leave David alone by himself for too long.
All work and no play make David a dull boy
All work ,makes David an AI psycho…big time..megalomaniac..
David though he was in Alien Covenant VR and decided to save game before he tested out spawning in a million black goo ampules... He got a load of lag which caused the juggernaut to crash and then he hit a checkpoint and couldn't revert to his previous save game.
i cant help but wonder if shaw is still asleep as the black goo drops
I would image she is, I doubt she would be cool with genocide.
I've been waiting for this! Next up: Mr. H review!
The Engineers created them and gave them some technology and they patiently waited for their creators arrival again.
thanks
Honestly, this mini-movie was all I ever needed in terms of a Prometheus sequel. Now I'll just think of covenant as a new alien movie, rather than a follow up to Prometheus
Hey nick what are your thoughts with Shaw entering the sleep chamber and under the grey cloak is white clothing. Very similar to the shot of Davids lair when we see the white body with brownish red hair and opened up at the chest? Maybe Shaw confirmed? 🤔
Possibly!
Like what ?!
Trestan Emperor thought the same thing
I wonder if you've been wrong about the previous videos that you posted?
There was an Alien Covenant trailer ad before this video on Alien Covenant
I agree with you but movies never work out the way you want them to.
I like to think the Queen in Aliens is a unique individual xenomorph. It would be great if they did something different with Shaw, turning her into a queen seems definitely outlandish. At the very least they should do something slightly more original.
I was sadly working but just fiished watching Alien just now! Missed first hour of the live stream.
Just watch mutating Shaw into a proto Xeno Queen prob since her hypersleep and final form in the citadel will be his Mona Lisa
soooo excited to see the movie!!
I can't wait either bro love your alien spoiler footage hybrid network
I don't think these are spoilers as the studio is very carefully releasing things for the marketing. Prometheus and this movie have very interactive campaigns.
BTW, do you join different speech clips together, or you speak just like that? Would be nice if you took a little pause; just like how we use comma and period in the writing. 😔
just watched the prolouge...awesome!
I can't seem to find this "Crossing" anywhere...
There is similar opening on the ground in the centre like on LV-223 when engineer tried to flee.
I spotted you on the Alien day stream 😎
I SHAW this coming
it´s just davesome
Walt happens next?
HappiestSadGuy Yep! Those engineers thought they could get away with trying to wipe out humanity. They said fuck us, so fuck them too! Rain hell on them David. Rain FUCKING hell!
Is that you Sean Connery?
NOT FUNNY !
the giant building in the engineer city can actually be seen in earlier trailers.
Michael Fassbender has aged so much since the Prometheus. David as a robot really looks old compared to the previous movie
hey that robe elizabeth has in the hypersleep bed is an engineer's one is the same one from the sacraficed scene
Can't see any kind of transportation system which I think adds evidence to the fact that they are a species made by the engineers that treat them like gods.
my question would be can the engineers on this planet alert other existing engineers from other planet that they were attacked? maybe we would encounter more engineers coming from other places to the rescrue for the next movie?
dude its a horror movie, rule 1 of horror movies "phones never work" =)
this alien man, next level shit you never know, maybe they have some other way to communicate with each other...
JUST got out of regal movie theater watching Alien (1979) and the footage shown afterward for Covenant was AMAZING! Only giving one hint, neomorphs
Oh man, David just went Magneto on their asses.
I think that he did not wake her up as he promised so he could execute his nasty plan.
im so siked up for the release in a few weeks!!!!!!!!!!
Im going to be pissed and disappointed if we dont get answers that were left open in Prometheus!
3:10 looks very familiar to ellen ripley. Maybe a slight Easter egg?
Shaw: What if they are no better than us
David: So long as they are not worse.
you didn't mention this? I think it is very pertinent.
He then walks by himself and learns of their "works" and (according to my speculations) seemingly does not like what he discovers as he then goes on to "Look on my works, ye mighty, and Despair!"
Also I see more an internal surprise, curiosity and gratitude from David as Shaw fixes him, I don't see the nefarious aspect you mention (although it probably exists due to his nature perhaps)
Where i can see this ??.. unable to find it on any source
anybody has an idea of what kind of organic material did the Engineer at the beginning of Prometheus take? was it the black goo? if so, does that mean that David is starting a new Earth(goo+engineers=Terra Nova)?
here My Theory:
David puts shaw to sleep and does not wake her up on arrival.
Not David Himself, that would be extremely dumb and disappointing
good vid mate! Can't wait for this movie.
Maybe Shaw is still in the sleep chamber, when she wakes she'll rip off Walter's head.
So when does corporal Hicks turn up ??
Game over man, game over!
And Elizabeth's clothing while going to hypersleep is very similar to these---> 07:43, a very nice touch!
Me: "Hey man! It's Alien Day!"
Friend: "Okay, yeah."
I don't got anyone to share this day with besides yall haha.
perhaps David uncovered something that was bad or he didnt think shaw would like and decided it was best to kill the engineers rather than risk contact. because he was left alone for a in-determinant amount of time and he said he learned everything he could of the engineers.
I still think those are not Engineers below. Just another species created by them.
I thought that too. They don't look like the other Engineers.
engeenrs are to strong for david kill them like that
I wished they made a movie about David and the Engineers only. I don't care for those idiot couple's cruise.
shaw is supreme leader snoke
CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!!!
Nick here's a concern that I have and you tell me if it's valid or not. If Convenant does to well at the box office then we'll to many more alien films. I think we all want just two questions answered, first who made the aliens and secondly where did the space jockey come from?
How or why did the black goo, turn to a or looked like spores?? How or what made it change?
if the ship had a database of some sort I believe David either studied their culture and/or found out about their plans, he probably found out either something really horrible about the engineers or found out they would be the perfect experiment.
At all.
4) I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
*Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'*
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
I wonder if this will be the opening scene of Covenant, can't wait to see this on the big screen.
I wonder if David ever woken Shaw up from sleep chamber.
Is the term "Paradise" ever actually used in the Prometheus film?
B MC yes
I'm thinking David found out something about the Engineers during his study of them that made him attempt to destroy them. After seeing this trailer, i definitely don't believe Shaw is dead.
After this, i'm certain your theory of David turning Shaw into the alien queen is true.
He thinks shes the kindest human being hes ever known, I could see him thinking she would be the perfect "mother"
It is so obvious for David to continue his experiment.
Mishner when you put it that way it's creepy but true
David is the worst synthetic pretender i know.
Mishner He is just acting like a real Human.
I wonder if Davis is researching in his lab for a solution to save Shaw who somehow has been affected and has to be kept in cryo chamber ...
IMHO I think that David didn't wake Shaw up so he could do other experiments with alien goo, possibly turning Shaw into alien creature or even alien queen (we can see eggs in trailer and someone had to lay them)
