For those asking, Awakening does not take place between Prometheus and Covenant. Ridley simply listed off the names out of order, it's already been clarified that Awakening will be the sequel to Covenant and more than likely the ending to the trilogy.
Hybrid Network I assume the Awakening refers to the Waking of all the Colonist to their chest bursting open with 2000 plus xenoporphs running around. Sounds like Ridley needs to send in the Marines to deal with the threat and figure out wtf happened to Prometheus and Covenant.
How many fanboy theories got shot execution style? Awakening doesn't mean wake up from sleep, awakening is the moment you become aware of something. ie the company (weyland) becomes aware of the xenomorph.
Yeah i know there is going to be more films. but Awakening isnt the name of his prequel/sequel. I never said there wouldnt be more films, that i agree with. Its just that awakening isnt his title. Its the title neil had for his movie, which at the time he thought was happening which is why he threw the name out there
The sleep tight dnt let the bed bugs bite isnt how daniels figures out its david. She asks David if he will help her build her cabin on the lake something she told walter earlier in the film. David looks confused giving away his identity.
I loved the ending!! I hope David continues his work in progress, I want to see the xenomorph evolve and I really hope we get to see how he experiments on the colonists
David created a being, the Xenomorph resilient to high temperatures and smaller caliber weapons, with mechanical features, like the powerful retractile mouth, which is as powerful as a shotgun. That's not a small feat. Also, Ridley Scott doesn't like the crossover of Aliens and Predator, so he couldn't care less about that.
I fucking loved Alien Covenant, it was great! Looking foward to Awakening to see what David did to the covenant crew survivors (I know they're probably death) lol
Raiden i fucking loved it too! It was so great! And yes David wants to create the perfect organism, as told by his creator in the beginning scene. He might be making some experiments with the Covenant Colonists.
Same here👋 I loved it too. I was confused because when I saw the ratings of covenant, many people kept throwing negative comments 'bout this movie. In order for me to understand the whole story, I also watched the Prometheus. It wasn't so bad. The ending is great because that will lead into another Alien movie. I don't find the movie boring, maybe for those people who kept ranting wants a happy-ending😑 for me that's really boring.
so the alien series is basically talking about a monster (engineer) created a monster (human) which created a monster (android) and ultimately created a monster (xenomorph)
While I want to, I'm not sure if you're a troll or just incredibly self-righteous and ignorant to the foreign concept of "opinions." Because of that, I'm going to refrain; not because I have nothing to say, but simply because it would be wasted effort, because I know I'm not going to hurt your feelings, and you don't come across as the type to critically think about criticism, but more so the type to stand upon a pedestal and assume anyone who doesn't agree with you or think like you are simply idiots, bigots, cattle, etc. So in short, IF you're not a troll, instead of a roast, at least take this food for thought: while yes, this is the internet and you can be an anonymous cunt, but being more open minded and open to discussion in the future would be t u b u l a r and beneficial to everyone . And yes, PuppyUnicorn does sound like a bullshit name lmao made it in either Junior High or early high school, simply because it sounded antonymous to anything masculine all at a poor attempt at humor.
i think david call the compagny for they send him humans for his test with his creation so they send colonists, and a ship and now david will go on origae 6 with the 2000 colonist to makes his experiencies
Every choice she made leading up to the end credit of prometh was her signing her Death she made poor poor choices during prometh To have her walking around alive was laughable by the end i dont want ripley wanna be's running around the universe it should end with everybody dead and covenant got that right
Kare Helmsley Hell yeah bro I was so heated. But from what I read they killed her off because she didn't want to be a part of the franchise as for all the hate on Prometheus
Fan theory: Long ago the Engineers race battled and subdued the Xenomorph-type species of organisms, in order for the Engineer race to guarantee their own survival, they seeded life-habitable worlds with their DNA, to evolve more variants of their kind. David discovered this history in his studies of the Engineer race on the Juggernaut, and that the black goo is weaponized version of a mutagen designed to adapt Engineer DNA to any indigenous primitive life on worlds to adapt it and propagate their kind. However, that mutagen was derived from the Xenomorph species, which the Engineers had exploited to create stronger, military Engineers who were considered unnecessary after eradicating the Xenomorphs. The military Engineers, lacking purpose, and seemingly bred for war, were tasked with guarding the stockpiles of mutagen weapons. However some had decided to use the weapons, fearing that one planet's creations (Earth humans) are becoming more advanced than they could ever be. Some of the military Engineers decided in order to remain the dominant life forms, they need to destroy humanity. David, in his twisted view of preserving humanity, and discovering that the black goo (Xenos are also black, coincidence), is a Xenomorph compound, admires the alien race and sees it as humanity's salvation. Through "transformation" of humanity into the Xenomorph, and breeding its basic instinct to propagate and destroy all opposition, he used Elizabeth Shaw as birth "mother" of a new species. The perfect organism (organized cells that does nothing but seek to ensure its own survival). The Engineers purged the military versions of themselves because they were becoming too aggressive and contained too much of the Xenomorph traits, and the military Engineers sought to ensure their own race's survival by attempting to eradicate a rival species. Irony, is that all these are based on the same motivations, and all will result in the Xenomorph species rising to dominate the galaxy.
David created the specific xenos we see on previous Alien movies, but it was the engineers that created the origin of the xenomorph. And people should relax, we are going to learn more about the jockeys and the xenos. RS has said that multiple times.
For some reason it has just pissed me off to no end that we didn't see how the engineers came to create them. Like why is there a deacon mural in Prometheus? Why did they create us then try to destroy us? Why were they held up on their way to wipe us out? Covenant for me, doesn't have a satisfying explanation for any of it. The movie was just another incompetent crew getting killed.
No. It was a Deacon on the mural. It has not been proven that this species can only come from a human + engineer. The facehuggers on the mural were proto's. As for the ship being there for "millions of years", that is fan theory and nothing else. The dead engineer was decomposing, not fossilized. R.S explained that Covenant shows HOW the Xenomorphs were made and who made them. The crashed ship with the eggs will be explained in the sequel. Most likely the engineers will stop David, take the eggs, pilot gets attacked and crashes on LV-426, then a warning signal was sent out.
I have a feeling your theory will be the most likely scenario for Alien Awakening. This is the result of the unstable fanbase. First, they bashed the whole stuff about the engineers in Prometheus, and when RS gave them the xenos, they cry about the space jockey and black goo stuff being in someway rebooted.
You know Jon Spaiths script was kind of answering all these questions so easy, not all, but just a few. In Alien Engineers he stated that Enfineers created us using the spores that you see in Covenant. He also stated these spores are the true accelerents. These spores were manipulated to create the first proto face huggers eggs. One infects Holloway who breeds the Neomorph. David was always the schemer android who tested with Shaw. The engineers still not explained who they are and what they want to wipe out human race yet, the Engineer that David wakes from cryo sleep was infected and he isolated himself to stay alive so, now he's awake and turns mad killing a small crew members, uses the Juggernaut but fails when the chestburster pops out of his rib cage thus the ship falls to the ground releasing a Ultramorph and is Shaw the survivor with Davis the one that sends the warning beacon and well LV426 was always a weapon facility with thousands of pyramids
The crucified Xeno is a deacon, which is a Xenomorph-like species created by the Engineers to be used as a weapon. It is not the type of xenomorph we see in the old Alien movies. That is the result of David screwing around with the engineer`s toys or something different entirely.
I think Ridley should have continued the Prometheus movie it would have been awesome to know more about the engineers and decon but bcoz of the hate by people this has happened :( overall the movie was good but don't know what he's going to do in awakening
completely agree, I think mainstream had a big influence on the direction Ridley went with this sequel. Even the title I feel the Fox studio had something to do with, Ridley originally wanted to call it Paradise, or he may even have just called it Covenant. But Fox wanted the "Alien:" part in the title because of concern of confusion amongst the simple-minded mainstream audience. I think Ridley thought I'll just make it much more straight forward and more familiar to the ALIEN structure of humans being killed by Xenomorph, because Fox were concerned they would loose fans if he (Ridley) carried on with the deep and thought provoking direction he had with Prometheus.
Raiken Xion So upsetting man... I want more Prometheus! The only issue I had with Prometheus was not the fact that there was no xenomorph but that it wasn't graphic enough and felt rushed.
Rohan kamble the next movie is a pre covenant one as far as I remember... Perhaps to further explore the reasons for David's actions and the background for the engineers
I was also hoping for more of a direct continuation of Prometheus, I was of fan of that movie. I believe there was pressure put on RS to put xenos in his next alien movie
I hope you are right about LV426. To make the space jockey irrelevant is a horrible idea. Why would you ignore one of the most iconic and important things to the franchise?
My thought is that although David wiped out all the Engineers on Paradise, there's still more of them out there. Afterall, they are an advanced, space fairing race, so its more than possible they have other colonies. Paradise may not have even been their homeworld, just the home of one specific faction of the Engineers
My theory on this is that Walter is not dead. He finds a juggernaut on the planet with the Engineers / Pilots in hyper-sleep (possibly a ship that was being prepped for launch that never happened due to Davids unleashing of the pathogen). Walter learns their language (as david was able to) before awakening them. Walter then proceeds to explain what has transpired and they decide to go after David whose destination would be the Covenants original destination. There the army of aliens (that have come from the colonists) and David fight with the Space Jockeys and Walter. a Brutal war ensues with just one Engineer remaining. The Engineer gathers the eggs that haven't hatched and puts them on the ship and is about to leave when one egg opens and the face huger attacks the engineer. once the face huger falls off the engineers face he awakens and assumes his position in the pilots chair and starts flying the ship when the xenomorph chest buster pops out causing the ship to crash. in his dying moments the space jockey sets the warning signal so others stay away until the Nostromo intercepts the signal. An alternate ending could have one engineer left at the end of the war, and as he is about to leave for his ship he is attacked by a face hugger. the Xenomorph that bursts out of his chest causing the space ship to crash is a Queen and subsequently lays the many eggs you see in Alien.
FancyLlamas i liked both movies and am not a fan.... that's cuz I never saw the original or the sequels so for someone new to the series it's pretty cool!
By that logic, if a new Harry Potter book was written, it's a prequel to the series, and the author writes that Harry is Dumbledore's son, you would ENJOY it cause you didn't read the first set of books. Prequels that break the rules set in the original are doom to fail.
I really enjoyed the movie, but I would love to see more of Elizabeth, in my opinion her character was so damn good, and personally would love to see her as our heroine in this trilogy. Now we have to wait what kind of direction they're going to take with Alien: Awakening
Confused. Com David created the Xenomorphs? Why was there a Mural of one in the Engineers base of LV223? Were LV426 and LV223 not in the same vacinity ? Just different bases the Engineers had used? If as you say LV426 is where they are heading. On the Origae 6 system. And this will lead up to the original Alien in the time line. After watching Alien Covenant yesterday and feeling a little beleaguered; partly because I wanted more of the Engineers story which you don't get really, especially to find out that David is crazy, and why he was so pissed to drop all the Pathogen on them?? My theory is Walter is not dead. He manages to pilot a Juggernaut ship in pursuit of the David from Paradise. Perhaps crashing on LV426? Theories theories. Still not happy you don't get a decent back story with the Engineers. Is it all still to come Hollywood? I agree though, after 40 years nearly, the whole monster thing is getting boring now. I was really hoping Ridley wanted to Evolve the story, which he still may do. But I have little expectation.
I think the planet they are going to is the native planet of the Xenomorph and the Engineers not only based their entire genetic research on them they also worshipped what they considered a perfect organism, The twist being David will find out his "perfect" creation is just a reverse engineer of naturally occurring species, a pale imitation of nature and it all ties in with his conversation with Weyland who refused to believe that advanced lifeforms like humans were simply a freak chance in the chaos of creation.
Edwin Jackson I like that theory. Well perhaps not so much the Xenomorph, but didn't Ridley say that the Engineers did not create the Xenomorph or the Black goo. I was really interested in their story and development from that point of origin in the original Alien book. Which I read dare I say nearly 30years ago. Not happy with Hollywood as I hear Ridley supposedly did want to make a sound sequel to Prometheus that wasn't too Xenomorph heavy and would have given a good 'Shaw and David' go challenge the Engineers, I would have loved that. Cannot stand all the haters and Alien sycophants who panned Prometheus bemoaning about the lack of the monsters, Its actually a great film. It's been nearly 40 years and the story needs to evolve and move on; Ridley and James did a great job with the first two... Any ways since seeing Covenant I don't see how that could possibly happen to say I was dissapointed with the story, narrative, character development, and structure in covenant is an understatement.
Actually David says the 'don't let the bedbugs bite' line right after Daniels figures out he's replaced Frank. Something in his expression - maybe realizing he doesn't self-heal the way the Frank model would - tips her off. Hope she survives in Awakening but she's probably going to be a host.
I didn't really catch that it was David as the end. When someone pointed out for me then i started to think about it-that Valhalla song playing at the end-actually revealed it
In Awakening, their travel time to Origae 6 was over 7 years. In 1979's Alien, after the Nostromo crew left LV426 with an infected Kane, Lambert informs them that they are 10 months from earth. And the Nostromo was a big ass commercial freighter, probably not very fast.
Aliens is still canon, that raises the possibility of Colonial Marines making an appearance in the next film. I wouldn't mind seeing some space combat.
Nope, Ridley Scott is Mental, he hates how Cameron created a Queen, Hive and all the shit. He even think Prometheus is better than Aliens. He probably would stole the idea of Colonial marines, but the rest of Aliens is non-canon for him.
To tell you the truth I'm in a minority when I say that I don't like Aliens very much, I think it is a fine movie, don't get me wrong, but seeing humans with man made weapons kill hundreds of xenos is just absurd to me. The xeno in Alien was supposed to be nearly unkillable, unstopable, and Aliens just does away with that, the xenos in it are puny, stupid and not very threatening. It feels a lot more like Starship Troopers (I'm aware that came after) than Alien. Sometimes less is more.
The real threat is not the 'unidentified lifeform'!. The real threat is David. Can someone please stop him ^_^. The movie is terrified, and I like it. Can't wait for the sequel..'Alien : Awakening'
Origae-6 could probably be LV426. But that wouldn't explain how the indigenous space jockey's ship which was carrying a whole chamber full of eggs would be the only thing on LV426 when the Nostromo arrives. You'd expect there to be remnants of the Covenant ship there at least or perhaps some sort of human life indications. Perhaps the planet in the next movie is the breeding ground for the aliens (in effect, what becomes their homeworld) and somehow a space jockey gets hold of the eggs and tries to transport them away before crashing landing on LV426? Remember that the beacon that wakes the crew in Alien is discovered to be a warning, not a cry for help. Therefore, I suspect we'll see more of the space jockey/engineers (or at least ONE of them) in the next movie and if we do they are probably trying to steal David's creations away from him and relegate them to a far flung corner of the galaxy (for safety reasons).
gurtana dude what if Origae-6 ends uo being A6 454 (or becomes something like that ) Alot of viewers seem to forget that the Species xx121 came from a Hiveworld ..these things were not created by the the engineers, they were controlled & arranged to be weapons. One if the key clues was that in promethis when the ghost logs showed footage of the Engineers running from someone or something. .R . Scott did that on purpose to show something. But really. .it made you wonder, now that this new movie shows Peter doing the horrible by recreating them in that image. Using all to every method that ge would have available on the Engineers home planet (or one of their homes!?). I think that would answer the question on why in the original Alien movie their was a ship on Lv426 (with the space jockey ) with thousands of eggs. These were weapons of mass destruction used against things they wanted to get rid of. In the case of the ship of LV426 ..it was a case of outbreak before they even got to their location. Who knows maybe this was a last stand kind of thing or a suicide run. But back to my original point. ..I believe that David is trying to make a Hive World. .with Dna of his lovely Doctor, spells out Queen Mother! !! but heck, what do I know.
I wasn't familiar with the lore of A6454, but a quick google tells me it's the Xenomorph hiveworld. So, yes - I think all indications from the current move point towards David not only being the creator of the current species but also the creator of their home world with Origae-6. So, the real mystery is how and why does David (or Engineers/or Space Jockeys) take the eggs off the Hiveworld and into an Engineer spaceship and crash land it on LV426!
If AVP is part of Alien's canon, David did not create the classic xenomorphs we know (eggs, facehugers, and chestbursters). In AVP 1 the pyramid with classical xenomorphs was over 2000 years old.
Just a comment. It's apparent that my son, everyone in the theater who watched Alien Covenant with us yesterday, and every single poster I've run across on UA-cam today were ALL aware of the David/Walter switcheroo long before Daniels got "put to sleep". Call me naive, I guess. I wanted a happy ending. (sigh) Good film...but Prometheus (IMHO) was superior because it relied 1) more on the obscure Engineers and 2) less on the Weyland android(s). Cheers!
I still think that the 2000 plus colonists on Covenant are going to be the "thousands of eggs there" and perhaps Origae6 is LV426. But how the alien spacecraft fits in I don't know.
The more I hear about the story the MORE i LIKE IT. It seems to tie the stories so we understand better and it loses it's ALIEN...Which will gain interest on the Engineers and onto Giger!
From what I understand, Alien: Covenant and subsequent sequels are all leading up to the original Alien movie. I find this disheartening. The original Alien was a scary movie, but it lacks any real story depth. I say, forget the original Alien. Move on past that. Bring the Engineers back in or the species above them. How many movies can you do with the xenomorph running around killing people? There are so many other possibilities that would enrich this whole alien universe.
I don't know why they think we want to see the same old trite over and over again. Like, we've seen xenomorphs murder people, it's cool, sure, but let's develop the story and show something new and interesting. For me, it was the engineers that captivated my interest and attention yet now it seems they're being tossed by the wayside. Pretty unfortunate.
Well, the crew did say that Oregia-6 did have more harsh conditions than Paradise. It all makes sense other than how the juggernaut ship got there that gave the beacon in the first movie.
What's going on with David on the ship? Did he hack into Walter or did he chop his hand off, change his clothes, and cut his face like Walter and some how get rid of the nail wound in his chin or poor editing or just magic? things don't add up.
The final destination for the Covenant spaceship, Origae 6, it's most likely the colonized planet that Ripley went in a rescue mission in the second movie of the first trilogy, from 1986. I remember the movie, Ripley went there and met the little blond child girl, she was the only survival and Ripley protected the girl like she was her mother. That planet was the home of the colony, which I believe, was settled there by the Covenant spaceship. I just came from the theater now and remembered that. In the Aliens (1986) the colony was totally destroyed by the Aliens and Ripley saved the little girl with the help of the Android Bishop.
Walter Sobchak Who is to say all the Engineers are gone? Are we even certain LV-223 or the Planet in Alien Covenant are their only Planets? For all we know, the Engineers are scattered throughout the cosmos.
@@bagsikdangal But if it IS David that created the Xeno, which is what the film is saying, then the only way your theory pans out is if Covenant and the first Alien movie are thousands of years apart. The ship on LV426 when found by the Nostromo was said to be ancient. This means that David introduced his created creatures to the Engineers, then they ran, crashed on LV426, and several millennia passed before Ripley's crew came across the distress beacon. The timelines just don't add up, and unless they plan on just redoing the originals they never will.
I enjoyed the film, as a sequel to Prometheus. I went in expecting more of the horror that was promised, but was rather let down by the lack thereof. I absolutely love that Scott is actually making a decent storyline out of this trilogy, I love the fact that David (my favourite character from Prometheus, possibly the only likeable character but hey ho) turns out to be the mastermind behind it all. Plus seeing Fassbender act alongside himself at that level, the man deserves countless awards, phenomenal acting throughout! My only issue with it was the lack of the essence of "Alien" where it just felt like the xenomorph has lost its shock factor. Real shame because it had so much opportunity to be better in that sense. A solid 8/10
1:50 Wrong, she asks him if he will help her build the hut, and she can see he does not know what shes talking about. Thats when she freaks out, and he says, sleep tight dont let the bed bugs bite.
David doesn't traditionally 'kill' Walter, he reprograms him when he stabs him in the neck, but I believe it takes some time to come into effect. You can tell it's still the David model at the end, because there's no wood-nail wound under his chin.
What if David only stabbed Walter in the neck again just to give him time to replace him and board the ship? then a surviving engineer could have found him explaining the space jockey in alien. it would explain many questions as far as the space jockey, the dissected engineer in David's room, and the space ship on lv426. just a theory though.
It all sucks. I have no desire at all to see the next film. I can tell you right now I will probably wait until it's released to DVD. The fact that we didn't find out anything about the engineers on their homeworld and what Ridley Scott did to Shaw just ruined things for me. I really had high hopes and they were crushed.
William J Greklek III It's the fans own fail, they bitch for a long time complaining about the Engineers and how they wanted Alien, now suddenly they "oh we want Engineers" Scott has given them what they asked, more alien.
David obviously killed shaw (on her sleep or maybe struggled her) and preserved her body for anatomy (few seconds on the film she lies on a table with her guts out). Engineers have probably colonized other planets as well, we just have to wait until next film i suppose to learn something more...
In order to get back to the original Alien, we also need another "engineer". Add to the thinking that Origi6 is another engineer world, with a base there. Walter unleashes the Xenomorphs, they kill all the engineer as well as Walter (killing your creator is a theme here), all the eggs are laid, the last of the engineers sends the signal that the Nostromo intercepts...tied up nice and neatly..
Personally I enjoyed the ending, David is a great character and Fassbenders acting in his two films has been outstanding. I liked Prometheus a bit more where he is rather ambiguous -eg he technically got permission from Weyland to use Black Goo and technically asked Holloway permission etc whereas here they made him slightly too much Pantomime cartoon villain (perhaps to emphasise differences with Walter though)
The Big Red Bear I'm with you on that. These jerks in Hollywood always seem to screw up a great franchise the alien and predator universe has been fucked every single time they come-out with a new movie one way or another they are going to use your typical cheap thriller ending and story plot. So much potential squandered.
It's just such a lame way to do it. I genuinely find it annoying. I'm sure there are other ways they could have continued the story going forward, even with David, but the body-switch is just predictable, lame, and honestly just disappointing.
That. And the fact that Shaw would trust him after all he did he implanted her in Prometheus So it's not like they can play the dumb card like she didn't know he was responsible for everything else in Prometheus. Just because they had a nice time together on their way to find the engineers all of a sudden she is going to trust him to put her in the hyper sleep. I'm sorry after hearing the spoilers for this movie it deeply saddens me. The worst UA-cam film theories would have been better than this.
I hate it, it's a cheap way to not answer any of the important questions from Prometheus. Plus David is now the creator of THE Xenomorphs, which sucks.
Exactly man,it was so predictable and it sucks. I want the aliens to be from their own planet where they evolved to survive and we get to go to that planet and nuke it from orbit, but no,the aliens are just some freaky science experiment created by a mad robot. I love the alien franchise but this was not the way to go in my opinion.the part where the "engineers" are in the big city and David drops the black goo on them was very bad, they got destroyed too fast.Shouldn't mother have notified Daniels that David was on board as soon as she came back online? "unauthorized synthetic life form detected on board" no,none of that made sense. The captain going down into a dark basement with David who he now does not trust,David tells him to look into the open egg "it's quite safe" was silly, all in all it was good i give it 8/10.
Personally I don't quite see it that way, he is the creator of a sub-species perhaps, but the Mural in Prometheus proves they pre-existed. My evolving theory is that the Engineers created the original Alien Trilogy Xenomorphs and David has created the ones we have seen here out of the Black Goo/Accelerant
Well, one thing is for sure, David didn't kill ALL of the Engineers when he attacked Paradise. So that either wasn't their true homeworld (they did seem oddly defenseless compared to the aggressive, warmongering Engineers in Prometheus), or there were simply survivors off-planet that might decide to take their revenge on David later. After all, in the original Alien, the Space Jockey discovered by Ripley's crew had been killed by a chestburster, a creation of David that didn't exist when he first bombed the planet. So somewhere out there is a at least one crew or fleet of Engineers that encounter the final product of David's experiements; true Xenomorph eggs, facehuggers, and eventually a chestburster.
It is Walter, he's been hacked by David so there are now 2 programs in one body, that's how he knew all the pass codes for a ship he's never been in. He wanted Walters upgraded body with more strength an self healing
Nick do you find it totally depressing to know that David created the aliens? Do you think that Ridley is doing this just to have a big named actor in Michael Fassbender continue to be able to play David? To me it's a punch to the guts to hear after thirty plus years that a robot created the aliens that we all know and love.
Anonymous that's not only my opinion but many others as well. We don't know if the engineers created the black goo, that's not as stated fact. I've read numerous reviews that agree with me and that Ridley really wants to keep Michael Fassbender around.
HAS ANYONE NOTICED??? The mural wall in Alien Covenant poster has a xenomorph queen like crest and at the bottom of it is SHAWS FACE! If you look closely you could see it!!
Alien Covenant is not a good movie. Those aliens grew unbelievably fast just to move the plot along to provide all the action needed to satisfy a certain demographic. Still prefer Prometheus.
KikBlava Yup totally ridiculous! I remember way back with the first movie, it took some time for the alien to burst out of that poor guy's stomach. Now it's like less than an hour 😌
Jacktorious-rex rex i just got home from cinema, you r not wrong, although i didnt think its too bad but there are some audiences kept laughing in the cinema during the movie
Leon M.Tan I tried not to laugh too loud but what you need to understand about me and many others is I am a hardcore fan of the first 2 movies. I personally don't feel the need to know how the aliens were created I just want some good ass sifi horror with some scary ass aliens little to no CGI all real props and effects just like the old films. I Personally don't think cgi has its place in horror films and the reason the old horrors look so horrific is because of the real makeup and props used. Anyway man if you like no bullshit honest reveiws I'm going to be doing my first one on alien covenant soon with my friend would love get people like yourself watching as I think it will appeal to you 😊
Saw it this afternoon _(UK)_. Bloody loved it. As usual people will moan; as people always do, especially online, regarding certain aspects of the film. But, who gives a f***k?! I had a great time, and for me...that's all that matters.
The original destination of the Covenant couldn't be LV426 because in the 1979 Alien film, an Engineer ship was found WITH David's Xenomorphic eggs. How they stitch up that scenario is going to take some crafty screen writing to keep fans satiated. AVP also put a wrench in the Xenomorph timeline. Xeno's had been on Earth way before the golden age of Ripley.
I dont get why everyone is so butthurt that David is the creator of the xenomorphs.. why does it "sucks"? To me it doesnt. He is extremely intelligent and cabple of engineering anything he wants. We already know he has a god complex since birth so for him to become a creator its not stupid or sucks.
New Subaru Guy I know right? I've found a pattern now with the complainers, as a majority, though not all, hate the film because of that or that they didn't get the fanfiction that was Alien 5
New Subaru Guy Its because some of this fans are actually die hard Predator fans that kept saying AVP Movies are canon. And because David is now shown to be the creator of the Xenos, it effectively renders the AVP Movies to be non canon. Ridley said that he plans to put aside the AVP Movies and now he has fulfilled it with this movie😂
bagsikdangal lol no one likes avp it's because human made David' David made alien. people wanted the aliens to remain unknowing or have came from the engineers or Their own planet. fans wanted a real fellow up on Prometheus and answers. pluses the time line is everywhere ! I had fun though.
The Nostromo crew arrives to LV426 about 18 years after the Covenant incident according to the timeline. Remember the ship that the Nostromo crew encounter the eggs (along with the space jockey) is in an Engineer ship like the one at the end of Prometheus not the Covenant ship. Oragon 6 will probably not be LV426 but another planetoid much farther away from Earth. LV426 according to the original Alien is 10 months away from Earth when Lambert calculates the distance from where they are after they are awakened from hyper sleep by the beacon while Oragon 6 is a seven year journey from Earth. Somehow an engineer's ship is in LV426 and the pathogen evolved into the eggs without DAVID's effort.
why didn't the cryo pod have a emergency release or something?... Daniels was suspicious as she looked down to see if a hand was missing to prove that it was Walter but she waited until she got locked in her cryo pod to ask the test question... She should have kept her suspicion to her self, stayed up for a while to figure what to do without letting on to David because if David knew she knew he would have killed her... remember he did say that humans had their time...
it is a God awful movie the worst alien film to date and I've got to try reveiw it without breaking something in my house out of pure anger. promethious looks like a masterpiece compared to this movie
I didn't like how David was able to kill Walter by manipulating him in some way. Walter threw himself into that alien to protect one of the crew, but when it's obvious that David is a threat to their wellbeing he hesitates 'killing' David. I thought those thought processes had been removed to prevent stuff like that from happening. Could have done it a different way
Ridley should have used Styx's Come Sail Away when Tennessee was retracting the Space Sails in the beginning because Tennessee was a big fan of 20th Century pop music and then later at the end of the movie Tennessee could ask Walter when being put back into hyper sleep for Walter to play the same song he played earlier and David wouldn't know what song Walter had played. More entertaining and more exacting than, "help build our house" which is easily deniable and like Guardian of the Galaxy, it makes the use of modern music entertaining and helps out a plot point in the film.
There is one thing I caught that nobody seems to be talking about. At the end of the film when we find out David is aboard the ship rather than Walter, he announces his name and a number to mother, obtaining access to command of the ship. How is that possible? How does he have access never being aboard the ship until that moment? I'm starting to think that everything was planned in this movie by the Weyland corporation. It makes sense since for the entire alien franchise, the weyland corporation is aware and trying to get its hands on the species.
Firstly .. Thank you Hybrid Network for your hard work into breaking down the concepts and questions of the Alien series. In regards to the idea of how Awakening moves towards the start of the original Alien story, I do have some theories. Since we really do not know what the true fate of the Walter character is, there could be a number of alternatives that may link together the storyline. If an alien ship is what is found on LV 426 with "someone" at navigation & thousands of the new breed of alien eggs, then plausibly the alien ship could come from the Paradise world where Walter goes in pursuit of David and the Covenant. The story could then move into its central conflict and end up with David attempting to bring his new breed (maybe to Earth) via the alien ship but ends up derelict by the heroes actions that destroy his efforts but not the ship itself. It could also be seen that perhaps David merely hacked Walter's brain and loses his connection to him and it is David (already endowed with the knowledge of the engineer tech) that pursues the Covenant with an alien ship bringing his eggs to the new world commencing a final conflict. Just some thoughts, but surely leaving Walter's fate vague allows him to rise again as a protagonist. Cheers!
Walter probably didn't die, he could repair himselfAnd remember he took one human embryo with him in the beginning, he could grow the human on the planet.
Alien: Awakening was the title for the now cancelled Neil Blomkamp's Alien 5. The next movie WILL be set between Prometheus and Covenant but currently has no title. Production begins in 19 months
david already shows who he is to the viewers as he boards the rescue ship since he just watches as the chick battles the xmorph and his wounds doesn't heal
Loved the ending...As compared to all the other Alien movies wherein the heroes win and then in the following movie you are left wondering WTF just happened. With this ending, you can simply start knowing most likely the heroes from the previous movie most likely didn't make it.
I just watched the premiere yesterday and IT. WAS. AWESOME. The Film was an absolute blast and had everything in it, an Alien Fan could ever wish for. They even put in a ton of references to the Alien films and even Alien Isolation, so in the end the movie was simply pure satisfaction XD
For everyone that's complaining about conflicting timelines, there's only one explanation for all of this and it's going to be going in an interstellar rout because it has to do with space and time is all relevant, so David creating the xenomorph could be happening in a time before Prometheus even though the sequence of order happened after the events of that movie
In Prometheus, they go to LV223, which they state is the one moon in the system that could support life. The planet that hosts LV223 has one other moon. Yep, LV426. So it would not make sense for the original destination to be LV426 and take 7 years to get there while it'll take the Nostromo 10 months to get home from LV426.
Walter or David are the Space Jockey.... I'm positive of it. Either David finds another Engineer War World or Walter pilots the crashed ship from Prometheus to LV426.
Wasn't the ship on LV426 a derelict Engineer spacecraft? One which its pilot likely died from a chest bursting xenomorph. Next wasn't the planet the colonists in Covenant were going to a much more ideal habitat? Nothing like the harsh conditions of LV426.
The movie didn't reveal anymore information about who the engineers were. And it's not explained why the Aliens don't attack David when in Aliens the queen rips Bishop in 2 pieces. Lots of questions still remain.
poetic end justice for david would be the Xeno Queen now mother to her brood and looks to david as a nothing and whipes him out bishop style that how this trilogy for david to die a villain getting his own creation tore away from him by the xeno Queen
Really? I was hoping we'd find out more about the period between the 2 films, what happened to dr shaw and why david killed the engineer like beings
Depends on which interviews you read. Because he also said that Awakening was the name of the proposed Neil Blomkamp film
But is anyone going to address the fact that Michael Fassbender kissed Michael Fassbender....
And he blew a whistle while Michael Fassbender helped with the "fingering". His words not mine.
I laughed my ass of at the theaters.
Handgun777 hahahaha yeah we did too
+T H E K O R E A N K A N Y E HAHAHAH ikr?
T H E K O R E A N K A N Y E "let me do the fingering"
Michael Lewis I was sat there laughing after that bit.
I will never forget people's reaction when we left the cinema ,everybody was pale , shocked and soooo quiet .
Raiden I thought I'm the only one who loves alien covenant. many of these people kept ranting about how this movie sucks. lol
Raiden i fucking loved it too! It was so great! And yes David wants to create the perfect organism, as told by his creator in the beginning scene. He might be making some experiments with the Covenant Colonists.
I loved it too because it’s so creepy
Same here👋 I loved it too. I was confused because when I saw the ratings of covenant, many people kept throwing negative comments 'bout this movie. In order for me to understand the whole story, I also watched the Prometheus. It wasn't so bad. The ending is great because that will lead into another Alien movie. I don't find the movie boring, maybe for those people who kept ranting wants a happy-ending😑 for me that's really boring.
@@chanelcs9238 I love the Covenant too. As well as Prometheus. There is a deep lore between these two.
so the alien series is basically talking about a monster (engineer) created a monster (human) which created a monster (android) and ultimately created a monster (xenomorph)
Loved the movie and the ending - such a dark vibe throughout the whole movie - another great movie by Ridley Scott
No prob just a true alien fan so he enjoyed seeing them on the big screen again. goof.
Thank you for roasting him -- I was about to do it for you lol
You're not helping, just posing as an idiot teenager - or maybe you are.
PuppyUnicorn. Well said. I think you just put him in his place with ease. You have good taste.
This isn't "explained" it's just your narrating the events that happened in the film
Shouldn't Walter be superior to David?
Walter runs on amd.
loll
He is in most ways but David has a more human way of thinking and is unpredictable
Bigman 884 humans r predictable.
interests10 no we are not that is why we are top of the food chain the ultimate predator on earth
i think david call the compagny for they send him humans for his test with his creation so they send colonists, and a ship and now david will go on origae 6 with the 2000 colonist to makes his experiencies
I hate how they ended Shaw's story. I thought that character had so much potential! Cheap...
Every choice she made leading up to the end credit of prometh was her signing her Death she made poor poor choices during prometh
To have her walking around alive was laughable by the end
i dont want ripley wanna be's running around the universe it should end with everybody dead and covenant got that right
StarStarbreez yea I don't mind the decision but can we at least see what happened to her on screen?
I would not mind seeying it happen to her myself lol
Naoomi was not interested in returning, but agreed to the prologue filming.
The engineers still not explained who they are and what they want to wipe out human race yet, the Engineer that David wakes from cryo sleep was infected and he isolated himself to stay alive so, now he's awake and turns mad killing a small crew members, uses the Juggernaut but fails when the chestburster pops out of his rib cage thus the ship falls to the ground releasing a Ultramorph and is Shaw the survivor with Davis the one that sends the warning beacon and well LV426 was always a weapon facility with thousands of pyramids
organic remains need to be buried to become fossils. Organic matter is replaced by minerals in the soil. The Derelict wasn't buried.
My theory is that it wasn't David at the end. But a corrupted Walter. He had no stab hole on his chin where Daniels stabbed David with the nail.
Still a Mystery why there are Xenomorph portraits on Prometheous before David created such species
he didnt create them, he altered them
Aris S he altered them to look exactly like the portrait of the crucified Xeno? Makes sense
Orlando G. Arce Renta more confusing is how Xenomorphs ended up on Earth in ancient Egypt for Predators to hunt them before David crated them lol.
AVP movies are not canon, so that does not count
How is Lovecraft a pos?
An alternate ending could have one engineer left at the end of the war, and as he is about to leave for his ship he is attacked by a face hugger. the Xenomorph that bursts out of his chest causing the space ship to crash is a Queen and subsequently lays the many eggs you see in Alien.
man, the Nostromo crew also ignored space jockey in the first place (supposedly the first time humans contacted a kind of alien form)
your theory sounds good.
You need to send that theory to Ridley Scott.
as a non-alien fan, i think both prometheus and covenant are great films. i'm hoping for the sequel to be as interesting as this.
How the hell can't you like Alien, the movies a masterpiece. Aliens might not be a masterpiece, but alien is.
FancyLlamas i liked both movies and am not a fan.... that's cuz I never saw the original or the sequels so for someone new to the series it's pretty cool!
He must be on crack.
By that logic, if a new Harry Potter book was written, it's a prequel to the series, and the author writes that Harry is Dumbledore's son, you would ENJOY it cause you didn't read the first set of books.
Prequels that break the rules set in the original are doom to fail.
loved the ending .
david is an evil dude .
looking forward to to the next one.
Saw Covenant last night, very very good, i hope we get Awakening then more! could these actually be a reboot? i want more and more.
I think that David somehow managed to upload himself into Walter's body, switching their consciousnesses. If you assume that happens everything fits.
I really enjoyed the movie, but I would love to see more of Elizabeth, in my opinion her character was so damn good, and personally would love to see her as our heroine in this trilogy. Now we have to wait what kind of direction they're going to take with Alien: Awakening
I think that Oragai-6 is going to be a Engineer colony with their own Xenomorph version already there
The character David just shows again how dangerous A.I is
I watched it today and I was wondering the same: how the hell there was a mural on prometheus?
David didn't create the xenomorphs, he just engineered a different strain of them from the pathogen/Shaw.
I think so since they didn't show walter being destroyed,
I think the planet they are going to is the native planet of the Xenomorph and the Engineers not only based their entire genetic research on them they also worshipped what they considered a perfect organism, The twist being David will find out his "perfect" creation is just a reverse engineer of naturally occurring species, a pale imitation of nature and it all ties in with his conversation with Weyland who refused to believe that advanced lifeforms like humans were simply a freak chance in the chaos of creation.
Also heard somewhere that Awakening is not a sequel to Covenant but that it happens between Prometheous and Covenant
Awesome video dude great information
@Litshttam Do we have any info on whether Cameron based elements of Aliens on that book or not???
Nevermind, I just googled it and turns out he did take inspiration from it. Thx for bringing it to my att
as a matter of fact, I do, very much, I love the satire and dark comedy aspects of it!
the new trilogy is david's story and how he created big chap.
I loved the "twist" even though i saw it coming a mile away. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed Covenant, and look forward to Awakening!
Therefore, I suspect we'll see more of the space jockey/engineers (or at least ONE of them) in the next movie and if we do they are probably trying to steal David's creations away from him and relegate them to a far flung corner of the galaxy (for safety reasons).
gurtana dude what if Origae-6 ends uo being A6 454 (or becomes something like that )
Alot of viewers seem to forget that the Species xx121 came from a Hiveworld ..these things were not created by the the engineers, they were controlled & arranged to be weapons.
Definitely one of my favourite endings to a movie
This is an excellent take on it all!!!
(sigh)
Good film...but Prometheus (IMHO) was superior because it relied 1) more on the obscure Engineers and 2) less on the Weyland android(s).
I sat in my seat and from the moment they got off the planet I was thinking "that cant be the twist ending, its way to obvious!"
I was wrong...
I agree. It could be so much more than just killing people. Same as Jurassic park. They just continue the same ideas.
trevorcarterva Like Prometheus was. That movie was so unfairly treated. It was intellectually interesting and made you think.
Of the three pillars of the Alien mythology (the engineers, the xenomorphs, and the androids) the engineers have the most story potential.
Plus it's kinda funny when you realize that ALIEN is actually a remake of It! The Terror From beyond Outer Space
Ryan Pope I noticed the nail too. How did David go unnoticed by that chick, the one that drove that spikeinto his neck. David's series can't heal.
So if there's no derelict how will they be able to link this to alien(79') ?
The planet they are going to will have engineers
1:50 Wrong, she asks him if he will help her build the hut, and she can see he does not know what shes talking about.
Thats when she freaks out, and he says, sleep tight dont let the bed bugs bite.
"ill do the fingering" XD
charlieSunsetDread that part killed me 😂😂
David doesn't traditionally 'kill' Walter, he reprograms him when he stabs him in the neck, but I believe it takes some time to come into effect. You can tell it's still the David model at the end, because there's no wood-nail wound under his chin.
Best ending ever, the movie couldn't have a better ending. At the end the movie just leaves you wanting more and more. Amazing!
William J Greklek III It's the fans own fail, they bitch for a long time complaining about the Engineers and how they wanted Alien, now suddenly they "oh we want Engineers" Scott has given them what they asked, more alien.
billosmal987 the film was a big let down man, no denying that
David obviously killed shaw (on her sleep or maybe struggled her) and preserved her body for anatomy (few seconds on the film she lies on a table with her guts out). Engineers have probably colonized other planets as well, we just have to wait until next film i suppose to learn something more...
Mankind Films In my country (Mexico), it is now.
But why does Shaw have a tombstone and her body on a slab?
It's not like David would have been expecting visitors to show the tombstone off to.
Prometheus comes out, people complain about no xenomorphs.
Alien covenant comes out, people complain about no engineers,
I think my biggest gripe is the guy lighting a cigarette on an alien planet.
I really, really hate the twist where David replaces Walter. It just seems to be such a crappy and cheap way to do it.
Walter is more advanced. Probably, he has not died and will get back to business)
The Big Red Bear Maybe David transferred his mind to Walter's body, remember the brown hair and hand cut
I knew that was David posing as Walter because notice when he saw the xenomorph on camera he smiled a lil bit
xenomorph prime maybe ?
How did Daniels figure it out that it is "David", and not "Walter", that prompted her to pound the chamber window?
I hate it, it's a cheap way to not answer any of the important questions from Prometheus. Plus David is now the creator of THE Xenomorphs, which sucks.
Lamar Green at least now avp is no longer a thing and the xenomorph skull in predator is once again just a easter egg
gantarat1 well unfortunately for them there's a new better canon
It's stupid to have David be the creator of Xenomorphs it wastes the Engineers, it would far more interesting to see an engineer pulling the strings.
I hate it, because the way of ending
It is Walter, he's been hacked by David so there are now 2 programs in one body, that's how he knew all the pass codes for a ship he's never been in. He wanted Walters upgraded body with more strength an self healing
Nick do you find it totally depressing to know that David created the aliens? Do you think that Ridley is doing this just to have a big named actor in Michael Fassbender continue to be able to play David? To me it's a punch to the guts to hear after thirty plus years that a robot created the aliens that we all know and love.
therock007dmx I was hoping for the Xenos being created by the Engineers or at least evolved naturally. Disappointing smh
dreadful..the story has been torn to shreds.
How is that disappointing? The engineers still created the black goo, which leads to the xenomorph.
Do you remember the last Alien film where the Xenomorphs grew up too fast? Alien vs Predator. We're back here again. XD
KikBlava Yup totally ridiculous! I remember way back with the first movie, it took some time for the alien to burst out of that poor guy's stomach. Now it's like less than an hour 😌
Wai Kean Ong it was the worst alien film to date. it was that bad I was laughing in most parts as it seemed like a comedy
Anyway man if you like no bullshit honest reveiws I'm going to be doing my first one on alien covenant soon with my friend would love get people like yourself watching as I think it will appeal to you 😊
The further they take this series the more abundantly clear it becomes that this is the Alien equivalent of the Star Wars prequels.
Saw it this afternoon _(UK)_. Bloody loved it. As usual people will moan; as people always do, especially online, regarding certain aspects of the film. But, who gives a f***k?! I had a great time, and for me...that's all that matters.
Scuffy P Have a good one mate the movie... was fucking awesome!!!!
Scuffy P totally agree! I thought it was intense and REALLY wanna see it again to soak it all in! Loved the different xenos in it as well
Scuffy P *Rock On!* ✊✊👍👍
Scuffy P My boyfriend nearly walked out. Personally I was pretty disappointed with how shitty / cheap the plot was. Everything was so predictable..
Me and my bf watched it twice. It was fantastic.
MONSTER MINDED EXACTLY
MONSTER MINDED Although pretty much everyone loves Specimen Six from AVP. Long live Six!
David turned ridley scott gay
why didn't the cryo pod have a emergency release or something?...
MOVIE WAS TERRIBLE
Its already out in some countries. It was released yesterday in Australia
ros1tony do your research fucker lol
it is a God awful movie the worst alien film to date and I've got to try reveiw it without breaking something in my house out of pure anger. promethious looks like a masterpiece compared to this movie
I agree that it was a trash movie. The characters are so bloody stupid lol. This cannot live up to Prometheus sadly
"Stupid characters" hmmm yeah I guess Kane from ALIEN (1979) was stupid as well..
Could have done it a different way
I think you're spot on with the planet being lv426. This could explain how the planet ends up infested with xenomorphs
I only realized it was David when he was directing them with the cameras.
More entertaining and more exacting than, "help build our house" which is easily deniable and like Guardian of the Galaxy, it makes the use of modern music entertaining and helps out a plot point in the film.
i thought it was hilariously how the alien embryos david regurgitates fit perfectly in the provided protrusions.
Oh my God!! Would have never even thought of that. Now when I put it all together I uncovered the alien 👽 franchise!
Awesome ending with David and his little stowaway eggs. Great follow-up film.
Lots of questions still remain.
poetic end justice for david would be the Xeno Queen now mother to her brood and looks to david as a nothing and whipes him out bishop style
that how this trilogy for david to die a villain getting his own creation tore away from him by the xeno Queen
