She put me back together. I'd never seen such compassion in a guman before. I then repaid her kindness by eviscerating her body and scavenging the remains to create horrific genetic experiments.

LOL... to be fair, its already known that the Engineers are not humanity creators, theyre kind of like our older brothers, aparently they were also created by the same race we were, thats why they wanted to kill us!
Older brothers, would make sense. Remember in the beginning God made Man, not woman. Which is why all the engineers seem to be male. Not male, but simply human.
I know right? I remember watching Alien Covenant and being totally surprised at the start of the movie when I realized it was actually a sequel to Prometheus with Michael Fassbender's "David" and Guy Pearce's "Weyland" characters being in the introduction. I got really excited to see Shaw repairing David and dealing with the new Deacon alien roaming around LV-223, then exploring the universe and trying to find out more about the Engineers and their motives behind creating and potentially destroying mankind... But instead we got a new crew of a new ship while Shaw apparently died offscreen between movies... I was glad Michael Fassbender was back and reprising his role (as well as taking on the role of the other android,) but the story was really not very good in my opinion. I was hoping to at least get a conclusion to David's story, or maybe a new Ridley Scott film exploring the Engineer Space Jockey guys some more, but now I see this trailer for Alien Romulus and it seems all hope is lost lol.
I agree Jonathan, I had no problems with Prometheus.. I think it was pretty interesting. So many conceded people these days who have no appreciation for any art form, be it film, music, painting, or writing. I find that most people who are critical have never had a creative thought in their entire life.
The characters admittedly made foolish choices, but the fact that a film left us with so many questions proves that the film was just THAT good. Would you really want a film that reveals all its mysteries prior to a credit roll?
They could've made an entire movie about David and Shaw They could build up their friendship and then later in the movie create conflict by having Shaw find out about how David poisoned and killed her husband Or first have David and Shaw land and interact with the Engineers And as the movie progresses we are shown how David comes to the conclusion of killing the engineers There are endless possibilities to creating a great story about them , and I would definitely pay to watch a film exploring this idea
This would've been so much better than alien convenant... It was just another generic alien movie where the crew dies in spaceship from "unknown" organism, it was garbage... not to mention the casting team was pathetic.
Exactly, the addition of the Engineers rejuvenated the Alien universe, and then they were suddenly excised. I would have like to see Shaw meet them for some kind of explanation.
THAT'S how you make trailers, none of those spoiling clips where 75% of the plot is revealed. Wish more trailers were like this. Got me more hyped for sure!
This is why I have a rule with movies. I only watch the trailer to a movie once! and for some movies I don't even watch a single trailer. Haven't watched one for Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I know I'm gonna see it, so why bother?
If this were the only trailer! Before this we've seen the xenonorph, neomorph, backburster, bombs dropping, engineers wipes out, face bigger, egg, chest bursting, and more. I hope there's a ton more in the movie...
thats the scary thing about AI, they might simply not have empathy. It may just be irrelevant, not hate, just immense indefference to discomfort or suffering of humans. Shaw helped him, but that might simply not mean anything to a robot(i know hes not written this way but imagine a real AI) Im not sure whats scarier, a human trying to hurt you, or something that simply needs something from you and is completely indeferrent to what you are feeling, like nazi science experiments on steroids
Would you explain this a little? I read the Wikipedia article on the poem and I'm not seeing how the poem is an explanation of David's actions. I'm terrible at understanding poems though.
The popular interpretation of the poem is it being about the decline of great people and civilisations, despite the great things they have achieved. Presumably, this is what David is going to demonstrate to everyone.

I felt really cheated by the way they handled Shaw's story. The character deserved much better and a whole purpose of visiting the engineers planet was wasted. Very disappointing.
@@MaxximumRage Ridley Scott had a perfect sequel originally planned, and then he and the studio caved to executive pressure because everyone hated Prometheus, even though it's actually the best movie in the entire franchise. People wanted more big scary alien ripping people apart, and so that's what they got and they still weren't happy.
THIS looks more promising than the other trailers we have seen. It almost looks like an entirely different movie. I know, this is the movie I want to see not the other one.
Al Robins couldn't have said it better, THIS is what my mind pictured , now I'm just curious about the explanation of the difference in the engineer's appearances
There are 2 races of Engineers: Creators and Destroyers. David came on the ship to base of the Destroyers to bomb them, cause they(Destroyers) have got plans to bomb the Earth to kill the creation of the Creators.
Creators was on other type of ships (beggining of Prometheus). I guess that Destroyers were using Juggernaut type of the ships. Thats why in end of Prometheus David and Shaw could go to their (Destroyers) homeworld, cause the location of their planet was in the navigation system of the Juggernaut. But then they didn't yet know that there was two factions of Engineers. David found that out later on the ship on the way to Paradise, while Shaw was sleeping. Thats why he made decission to bomb them.
@@ricardo9733 Exactly. It seems most people cannot be bothered with the potential religious/historical concepts and other existential ideas surrounding the creation of mankind (and mankind's creation of artificial life,) they just want to watch a Xenomorph slaughter more space humans lol. I thought Prometheus was a huge breath of fresh air into the series, but then they scrapped like every cool thing about that movie just to go back to the dumbed down Xenomorph killing space humans again. I was not a huge fan of Covenant, but I wouldn't have minded a proper conclusion to David's story. Maybe he could experiment on the remaining Covenant crew with his new alien embryos to create a Queen Xenomorph that lays eggs while some rogue Engineer Space Jockey guy is hunting him down. It could end with an Engineer finally destroying David, but only after being impregnated by a facehugger, then the Engineer tries to dump the remaining eggs on some distant/vacant planet where they will hopefully never be found (LV-426) before an alien bursts through his chest. Then it would line up with how the first Alien film starts and they find him with a hole in his chest sitting on the ship full of eggs.
Agree, although it was full of discrepancies and weird absurdisms.. like the way Charlize Theron’s character died because she decided not to run to the side.. or the way the scientists were just extremely careless and got killed by a xenomorph d*k p*sy.. or the way Shaw begins to trust David with her life after he decided not to help her when she was pregnant with an alien (a bit too forgiving that one, no? Her bf just died and half crew members and she is like “I like David.. what a wonderful bloke”). Why did she decide to put David back together? He was perfectly fine and useful as he was.. why would she allow him to put her into cryo? Just full of ridiculous ideas.. Edris Elba f*ks Charlize Theron in the movie and they decided this was an important moment (to show her daddy issues?) but they cut out the most important dialogue which renders the whole film unexplained.. 🙄🙄🙄👀👀👀 weird decisions..
I was thinking the same thing, they could have shown them searching through the ship discovering all kinds of things, then they could arrive at the planet in the end... brilliant... like they could make us hate the engineers and cheer David when they get there... show them building the pyramids and enslaving humans or whatever, then wiping out the Mayans,,, where do I get my ticket for that movie?
I was so hyped for this film, a year on & I'm just getting over the disappointment. There was a website called Promethus 2 which publicised any news on the film, at one time they were certain it would be called Paradise, with the 2 surviving characters going into the Engineers home world. I was so excited with the possibilities that this story may bring & instead we had the most moronic, forgettable crew being offed like they were in some sort of teenage slasher film, i.e. Scream.
Dern Vader that is a great idea. They could have used the Sumerian mythology as a basis that the engineers created humans to be slaves, but when the 'programming' a.k.a. religion didn't take, they decided to wipe humans out, thus causing David to have a new found respect and empathy for humans and deciding to create his own life form that uses the engineers own tool (black goo) against them, like a poetic justice, creating a dangerous and unstoppable life form that is only born from humans. Voila...Alien: Covenant. Covenant being a biblical term where God made a pact with Humans but then we broke it. This would have made more sense when he dropped the goo on them. He looked angry and vengeful in that scene like he discovered a horrible truth and possibly didn't want to tell Shaw, because it would make her unravel. Or they did learn it together and she did unravel. So she could have killed herself or given up somehow and he had to watch her deteriorate. Since her faith would have been gone, committing suicide would not have phased her anymore. That would have been a better movie......the only plothole with this is that she wanted to know who made the engineers. What if that was a somehow even more disappointment that broke her. Also, the black goo could have come from some weird black hole and the engineers somehow found a way to harness it. Idk. Just throwing this out there. How else would an insane robot with a God complex and new found emotions be able to cheer up a severely depressed human going thru the mother of an existential crisis? The Sumerian mythology is the equivalent to finding out humans are basically the result of high school seniors fukn around with their science kits, trying to come up with some epic project that wins the science fair top prize, to raise money for the school because they were too lazy to bake cookies.😂
Thank the current political correctness push! The entirety of HOLLYWOOD has allowed its self be corrupted by its plague! Every movie that has be released in the past 8 years has been nothing but trash as a result!
Completely agree. How great would it have been if this prologue (expanded of course) had been the basis for the sequel to Prometheus. Show us how David and Shaw interacted with each other on their way to wherever it was they were going. Show us what the alien world where they arrived was like prior to David's annihilation of the planet. Maybe give us a glimpse into David's psyche as an android with a lack of any kind of conscience at all. What made him motivated to bring so much suffering and death to an entire population of engineers? Instead, the whole movie felt forced. Another ship full of people going off course to investigate a signal. Characters who were caricatures or puppets controlled in such a way that almost all of their decisions seemed disingenuous and downright stupid. And the off screen elimination of the most interesting and deep character from Prometheus...the only one worth following. I think that was the most disrespectful aspect of Alien: Covenant.
It was entirely a mistake to scrap Elizabeth Shaw. I hope someone decides to step in and revive Prometheus into a broader story for all of us who were told it would be "Episodic."
I was really worried about the environment the colonists disturbed rather than them dying. All about David's scrolls, specimens records... Being destroyed was much of a concern for me rather than the gore, most of the time. It shows how much I would rather dive into David and Shaw's story than covenant.
Noomi rapace did not deserve to be killed off like that. I had a huge crush on her when prometheus came out and while I was crushed they killed her off and she didnt explore any of what prometheus set up, I was more sad about not being able to see her play shaw and give more life to the character, she was stunning
I think it was mainly the fans. I think Prometheus was supposed to be something new and original but many Alien fans complained because they expected an action packed movie like the other Alien movies so maybe that pressured the team to follow the franchises footsteps while making Alien Covenant. Would have been great if they carried the prometheus story on because later people started to appreciate it a lot more.
@@prometheus6898 The Prometheus franchise was doomed to fail from the start. The original franchise should've ended with Aliens. I actually don't mind Alien 3. There is a good movie there despite what people say. The fourth should've never existed, and neither should the two that followed it. I cannot stand the Prometheus franchise and I'm glad it's fucking dead.
ok, um, Noomi isn't the one being killed. you understand that, right? it's the character Elizabeth Shaw, not Noomi Rapace. got it? no? oh well, I tried.
I feel like this footage was meant to be the whole sequel 'Paradise' but for whatever reason they changed direction totally. Kiiind of a shame, this looks like it would be an awesome movie
well, I dont see how a movie about a person and an android exploring the engineer's home land would be interesting and suitable in a alien universe. It would make more sense to make alien covenant since we can (hopefully) see bits and pieces of their lifestyle by reference from the surroundings while also able to introduce the alien and horror components
I never saw Prometheus (still want to tho) and I got into Alien a little late so I'm behind on all the info. But it's not like a sequel is completely out of the question. Maybe "Paradise" (I'm assuming that's what the Prometheus sequel was) can be the next movie?
I think it's hilarious the twist they put on the now cliche invasion sequence. Instead of humans welcoming an alien to planet Earth only to be completely annihilated, it's a human (android) being welcomed by a bunch of aliens on their homeworld. David is the titular "ALIEN."
I like how David's "red to red, green to green"-line refers back to "ashes to ashes, dust to dust". Makes it sound so ominous, like he plans to kill her there and then. Or it's the burial of morals altogether. Nice touch!
That has to be the craziest non-sequeter I've ever read! That's like asking actor Joel Edgerton if he's related to director Robert Eggers because their names are kinda, sorta similar!
Shaw and David set off for the Engineer's home world. Shaw goes into cryosleep for the journey and David spends all that time (several years possibly) learning about the Engineers and their ways. Whatever he learns is enough for him to decide to bomb the Engineers with the same stuff they wanted to drop on us in Prometheus. The result of that event is probably what our Covenant crew will encounter but I'm personally interested in what David and Shaw learn and do once they arrive at the Engineer planet. It's nice to see humans (and our creations) with the upper hand for a moment.
I keep playing it over and over, it is the one piece that truly is a view beyond prometheus and one where we see our surviving heroine alive and well. One where we see David showing compassion and care. This along with the melancholic alien tune, make it precious to me.
cannot believe shaw trusts it enough to send her off to sleep. "david" is pre "Ash" and ash was a twitchy model let alone an even earlier model like david
Noomi Rapace really does radiate the compassion it takes to repair David, as well as the visceral need to know who are these alien beings, the Engineers.
Only who is a fan, but a real fan of the franchise noticed the same soundtrack from movie Alien of 1979 while Elizabeth Shaw was waking up David... that's was amazing *_* lol
This is exceptional!! Finally answers what happened after the end of Prometheus. Fantastic short with a wonderfully haunting, dark & lonely atmosphere.
I so vividly remember when this trailer/this video was only hours old as I came home from school and track and field practice, stressed out for AP tests and the SATs junior year and being absolutely enamored with David's delivery of Ozymandius's epitaph and his character in general. Having replayed it over and over again just for Fassbender's monologue "And then I was alone again. I learned of their ways and awaited our arrival." I was so excited having seen the original Alien, Aliens, and Aliens 3 with pops then later Prometheus. Went to the theater with high hopes after seeing this and felt just unforgettably disappointed that none of this was in the movie and then watching RLM's Half in the Bag episode on it. The fact that Rick and Morty had a trailer parodying the face huggers eggs for their season 3 trailer was just salt in an open wound. Now here I am 2.5 years later, still stressed out and wishing for what could have been; typing into the void of the UA-cam comments section. Like the film, I suspect this post will be of little note.
fully get you. there was so much hope after this trailer and introduction, and i felt so incredibly much exitement for the prospect of watching shaw and david explore, to pick up the same air of mythology that hung around prometheus as well - and then covenant happened. my only hope is that, maybe, in future films, they go back to the journey on the ship - maybe they did visit another place before, and only then set course to the planet we see in covenant. idk. i'm just incredibly disappointed if that was it
I REALLY love this version of Alien's theme from 0:42 . It sounded melancholic, lonely, and somber. If only someday we could get our hands on this track.
@@seanwhitehall4652 , yes, it's from ALIEN COVENANT where the poor guy gets infected by spores resulting in the backbuster, and the destruction of the dropship.
In the paradise film they used the chestburster sound clip from covenenant for the above sequence which was played just before discovering Shaw's grave: ua-cam.com/video/UP5NzyaGZxM/v-deo.html
Prometheus was a film that was completely different to any of the Alien films, but it brought new horrors. The effects where fantastic, it was a film that needed a second part that never arrived!
David: She put me back together. I never experience such compassion ... so I opened her up and tore her apart. Weyland Corp. Customer Service: Weyland Corp., may I help you? Customer: Hi, I have a question about your product David 8. He is dissecting our dog. Is that a bug or a feature?
Like father. Like son. If you don't understand David's character you clearly weren't paying any attention to Peter Weyland and his megalomaniacal god complex.
Another perfect fitting Jurassic Park quote for this movie-“Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that’s how it always starts. Then later there’s running..and screaming.”-Dr. Ian Malcolm
The sequel to Prometheus would have been perfect if it showed David and Shaw exploring this strange and bizarre Alien world, we don't even need explanations, something a la Giger - Art in Motion. But no, instead we are going to have another bug hunt ad infinitum.
After probably decades traveling to the creators' planet, David might have had time to experiment and create new concoctions with whatever substances he found inside the enormous ship... maybe some alien-making substance...
There's probably a reason why David emphasizes Shaw's compassion. Possibly because of what he learned about "their ways" so enraged him that, rather than have Shaw disappointed and/or to keep her safe, he decided to destroy the engineers. To protect the most compassionate human he's ever known, he leaves Shaw in hyper-sleep.
I don't think this could have made a movie alone as most of the comments suggest, but I think even a 20 minute short film detailing the journey and David's subsequent... 'research' and Shaw's reaction and demise would have been interesting.
@@miniwaern I have seen all of them. That is why I said the prometheus sequel was total crap. No story building of where the engineers came from or their planet or none of that. It was a total waste, killed the lead character of the new sequel and built nothing really.
That "Engineers" on Paradise do not have any control (checking) / defence / emergency (or bunker) systems? It means that on planet live lower caste? But it opens new questions.
Maybe... they do not think they actually need it, since they are not aware that any other lifeforms, such as humans, has reached any level of technology nor intelligence to actually travel the stars. They could perhaps consider themselves to be the only real intelligent life in the galaxy. I suppose one can spin such questions and answers in many directions for all eternity. hehe
would you question airforce one landing in your country? You would expect Papa Trump inside, and not some crazy Android spraying black Xenojizz at your folks.
@@jeffwads6158 They are the ineptest scientists I've ever seen. They didn't even use common sense when exploring or taking samples, let alone standard protocols. I love the concept of these movies, and they are beautiful. Ridley Scott is definitely in my top five directors, but the writing/script is what is very poor. I've seen some alternate versions of the script that were much better, but if they'd have included more of what they cut or decided against, it would have made much more sense, along with having scientists that actually take precautions.
Good god I hope not, that would one of the most bland concepts to ever be placed in a Alien film. Having a human turn into the Xeno Queen is just degrading to the Xeno's. Though I will give it credit for somewhat trying to play tribute to one of Giger's work.
Honestly, like some people who commented I would have preferred a proper Prometheus 2. David, Shaw, and the Engineers should have been the focus. It should have had its own monsters. What was the point of introducing the Deacon without doing anything with it? David and Shaw's adventure could have easily been the basis for an entire movie, since that is what Prometheus directly set up. THEN it could have been followed up with a somewhat more traditional Alien film like Covenant , serving as the bridge between the Prometheus series and the original Alien, forming a complete trilogy. It was a missed opportunity
Well, maybe that's what the next film will be. Maybe there could be some flashback sequences with Shaw and David. I think Scott mentioned that Engineers and David would be a primary focus in the next film, and be less xenomorph heavy.
So Blade Runner 2049 giving us a Conestoga class assault ship, Proves Aliens is still set 2079 gives you a new film order, Covenant the first film of the 22nd century, Then David turned the Covenant around and headed back to Earth, Movie Earth War.
If you look at David here he seems rather honest in his caring of Shaw. Something must have happened during the time when Shaw was in sleep and David "learned of their ways" that changed him. Did he find some knowledge on the ship that overwhelmed him? Did something go wrong during the flight? Why was did the ship crash if he was able to get to the planet just fine and dock above the city?...
Personally, my theory regarding why David (perhaps) killed Shaw centres around him being in love with her; in his own way. Both not being able to create life via reproduction, I believe David used Shaw's reproductive system in honour of her, not out of simply needing her organs and murdering her to get them. David made Shaw the mother for his new breed of Xenomorphs. He made Shaw the mother of his brood; the first Queen.
Where there is a Queen in this saga? Neither in Prometeus or Covenant we see a xenomorph as we know them from the original Alien films, even less a queen. The more similar to a xenomorph appear at the final part of Covenant, where we can see a very similar xenomorph egg, facehugger... but not a typical chestburster(snake/worm form) but a kind of mini adult-xenomorph. First "normal" xenomorph were made by the Space Jokeys (who shouldn't have been represented as human like in the film, while they always were biomechanoid as we know), so Covenant and Prometeus just tell a non-trascendental parallel story in the Alien universe, showing strange (and non-sense) hybrids.
From what I can draw, when he talked about learning of their ways on the trip there, I think he realized that he had to destroy them in order to save humanity. That's why he had all of the bio weapon prepared and made the quote. It may turn out that he learned the engineers are worse than the xenomorphs.
The movie may not have lived up to the hype but wow does this trailer does set the mood. This scene of the ship arriving to the engineers home world and opening the gates of hell upon them is so well achieved. You can feel all the sounds and visuals, so eerie, sinister. This being playing god over the beings that may well be the gods of his creators.
gotmoney123fly Saw Prometheus in theater with my dad when it came out it was so great on the big screen and iv watched it high many times since then definitely a good movie to watch when your stoned with your friends and all they're minds are being blown.
Same here. I love Prometheus. Have seen it many times and will continue to. It's just a to darn good of a movie to stop watching it! So obviously I can not wait so badly to watch Covenant!! I have never done this for any other movie, I can't get over it.
The Sisko He wasn't defending shit...... He probably killed them so he could have the place to himself and no one interrupting his experiments. Fuck him
killaka786 No, she helped create the alien queen. She had it removed in the last movie, and it grew into a giant squid monster, that killed the engineer that she was fighting. It then implanted itself into the engineer, which turned into a chest burster that came out of the engineers dead body, and made the alien queen.
Garrett Mahan you my good sir are correct. if you've seen the first movie you are automatically hooked n if this is your first time seeing anything to do with Prometheus, well then, welcome to what's going to be one of the top 10 movies of 2017
While he was alone and learned about their ways.. David judged they are evil because of what they did to him and the rest of the crew. He felt guilty about his betrayal to Shaw and promised her to help her find the makers, but it was a farce all along, his mind was already made up to kill them all. Listen to his voice when he says "Our arrival..". I hear a lot of anger..
he likely found out that trying to contact them and ask them questions was actually useless, and since he knew that the engineers were always going to try to destroy humans if they ever discover our race was actually making progress, David decided to wipe them out and avoid such fate.
Tool Time why do the engineers hate us so much? Someone told me it's because an engineer did come back and visit us. And we crucified him... (Jesus) sounds about right haha 😂😂
Hard call. I'll admit, at the end of Prometheus I rather hoped Shaw and David would find and bombard the Engineers with the same bio weapon they had in store for us. But then, after seeing the movie again more recently and remembering the Engineer in Prometheus had been in cryosleep for 2000 years, I did wonder if perhaps the Engineer society could have changed in those 2000 years. Maybe moving away from being the sinister group so fond of bioweapons, having a regime change, ect. Changing into something more peaceful. 2000 years ago here, empires and barbarian groups warred and committed mass slaughter frequently. Things aren't perfect now, but there's been improvements. Could Davids decision have been wrong after all? Granted, if he was right and he/Shaw did nothing, they would have paid Earth an unfriendly little visit and that would have been it for humanity. Of course, there's speculation the people down there weren't 'true' Engineers. Further, Davids motivations may not be justice, vengeance, or protecting humanity...but perhaps something sinister in their own right. He's a bit of a psychopath even for an android. Anyways, can't wait to see the movie!
It's also possible that they are not engineers. The engineers in Prometheus were tall, jacked as shit and had beautiful, round faces. The image about the "new engineers" that circulates on the internet shows them as deformed, ugly humanlike creatures. Maybe they were created by the engineers just like the humans were. Remember the cave drawings on Earth? I guess the engineers visited these ugly people too after creating them. Maybe they gathered and cheered because they believed that their God has returned.
It's so sad that this prologue was better than the film itself. I always said 'be careful what you wish for' when all the Xenomorph fanboys cried about Prometheus. You got what you wanted with Alien: Covenant which was devoid of any originality. Say what you want about Prometheus' numerous open ended questions, at least there was a genuine air of mystery about it unlike this film which directly pandered to fanboys crying on social media (don't take it from me, this is exactly what Ridley Scott said).
Probably people who wanted to see and learn more about the engineers will have their chance in the next movie which will be set between Prometheus and Alien Covenant.
Directors need to STOP listening to social media. Lucas sold off his baby because of Mr. Plinkett and Plinkett got exactly what he wanted, a Star Wars film directed by J.J. Abrams which was a true piece of garbage. And now Ridley makes the same mistake. Haters gonna hate and you don't take their whining seriously. Both Prometheus and the Star Wars prequels were visionary artistic works with the breath of life of a creator in them. Covenant is more stylish than Force Awakens, but both still have the air of corporately-produced mass-marketed product made for the lowest common denominator about them. In Covenant, it makes Ridley's forays into artsiness seem awkward, because they clearly don't fit with the slasher tone of the rest of the movie. And how many Alien movies are we going to get where a space crew descends onto a planet unexpectedly and finds a derelect ship and gets an alien infection? In Prometheus it was a nice mirror and homage but here it's just a retread.
Disagree, Prometheus was a mass of garbage and plot holes. No love for Shaw here nor any of the characters with the exception of Theron. I did enjoy covenant, but I would rather see Blomkamps ALien than another Ridley film.
This should have been a whole movie, the missing part we need to link Prometheus and Alien Covenant. We missed Elizabeth Shaw, the Ellen Ripley of our time.
Elizabeth Shaw is a very poor imitation of Ellen Ripley. Ellen Ripley wasn't just tough, she was capable, intelligent, and cautious. Shaw was brave, but stupid, easily led, and prone to making rash judgements that got people killed.
Not a single bit of this is going to be in the movie. It'll probably be just like that last one that had a great prologue youtube vid, but was not used in the movie.
+Weid, Dark And Corny - *they're Sorry. I came here to discuss Alien, but then I saw your grammatical error. Just trying to help. #yourfriendlyneighborhoodgrammarnazi
Dr Shaw! such a likable character...I certainly hope she's alive somewhere, I wouldn't stand seeing her turned into an alien queen, she deserves a more honorable fate...
i think her being the first alien queen would make her role that much more important to the saga, and also get back at the engineers for being such jerks
Probably because the Engineers were so full of themselves and convinced that they were the superior race, that they were ignorant to the threat of possibly being outmaneuvered. Perhaps they felt safe in thinking that no inferior race could possibly hijack, let alone operate, one of their ships.
Look and listen . You need a second viewing of this because you can see when they land there are HOARDS of people waiting for them at the bottom. You can even hear them cheering slightly as well.
Sorry I was commenting what comes before, "And then I was alone again... I learned of their ways... and awaited", not finding like this in the Seven Pillars though ... But the tone is here ! Didn't get the Ozymandias reference, well done Elias Anderson & daniel woods ! (was looking for something from Milton instead)
David quotes a section of the poem Ozymandias that was said to be engraved on a stone by the fallen king Ozymandias. The poem's theme is collapse from greatness so I find it odd that David would say this line. This is possibly foreshadowing by the writers of the demise of the crew following the bombing, or it could be David mocking the engineers by comparing them to Ozymandias.
and yes @Adam Fowler my money is on that this culture perished because it built such an efficient biological weapon, it managed to hijack the jockey race genetics. Kill Bee esque
I hope Shaw survives in this movie. And they find her in near the end, still sleeping. Idk what would happen from there. But Shaw has to live or I'm going to be really sad of her character build up in Prometheus.
Mike K. I think he might just leave her asleep and then be like "sadly when we arrived they seemed to have died... Oh well" maybe not exactly that but idk David has no real reason to hate shaw and I don't believe he does
I'd never forgive that they killed Elizabeth Shaw off. The strongest human character in the Prometheus timeline and perhaps the 2nd greatest in overall after Ellen Ripley. 😢😭 She brought the character to life and she made her perfect. 😍
I like movies that go out of the norm and explain what we wondered how things came to be from the Alien franchise. Epic, Ridley Scott is one of our greats in my honest opinion.
She put me back together. I'd never seen such compassion in a guman before.
I then repaid her kindness by eviscerating her body and scavenging the remains to create horrific genetic experiments.

Kevin Davis The creator of my creator is also my creator I guess lol
LOL... to be fair, its already known that the Engineers are not humanity creators, theyre kind of like our older brothers, aparently they were also created by the same race we were, thats why they wanted to kill us!
Older brothers, would make sense. Remember in the beginning God made Man, not woman. Which is why all the engineers seem to be male. Not male, but simply human.
Shaw was so great character in the Alien universe... Miss her.
She should have been in the sequel. Would have been better if David avenged her rather than dissected her...
She wasn't much for me in Peometheus but she was getting there, killing her was a blasted mistake

I was glad Michael Fassbender was back and reprising his role (as well as taking on the role of the other android,) but the story was really not very good in my opinion. Reboot this trash into something more like Prometheus one
The actress was dope!
I know that this isn't a popular opinion, but I quite enjoyed Prometheus.
I agree Jonathan, I had no problems with Prometheus.. I think it was pretty interesting. So many conceded people these days who have no appreciation for any art form, be it film, music, painting, or writing. I find that most people who are critical have never had a creative thought in their entire life.
While I did also enjoy Prometheus there were some pretty big plot holes and character actions that didn't make sense
Frank McGuire Thats the point of it. the ambiguity left so many people wanting more
The characters admittedly made foolish choices, but the fact that a film left us with so many questions proves that the film was just THAT good. Would you really want a film that reveals all its mysteries prior to a credit roll?
I thought it was awesome! I can't believe it didn't do to well in the box office.
They could've made an entire movie about David and Shaw
They could build up their friendship and then later in the movie create conflict by having Shaw find out about how David poisoned and killed her husband
Or first have David and Shaw land and interact with the Engineers
And as the movie progresses we are shown how David comes to the conclusion of killing the engineers
There are endless possibilities to creating a great story about them , and I would definitely pay to watch a film exploring this idea
Frank Underwood Right?! Thats the kind of movie I wanted! Plus a fist fight. David needs his ass whoop
still agree to this 💯
This would've been so much better than alien convenant...
Defo agree to that

I’ve never known such kindness from a human. That being said, the things I’m going to do to her are horrific in the extreme.
thats the scary thing about AI, they might simply not have empathy. It may just be irrelevant, not hate, just immense indefference to discomfort or suffering of humans. "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

The meaning of this poem in itself pretty much explains why David did what he did.
Template so I'm assuming David wipes the engineers out right?
Would you explain this a little? I read the Wikipedia article on the poem and I'm not seeing how the poem is an explanation of David's actions. I'm terrible at understanding poems though.
The popular interpretation of the poem is it being about the decline of great people and civilisations, despite the great things they have achieved. Presumably, this is what David is going to demonstrate to everyone.
nothing lasts, not even the great "works" of the "king of kings" - perhaps in this context, the engineers.
Why can't the whole movie be about these two exploring.

Creators of humanity wiped out by a creation of humanity. Poetic really.
ToySouljah. i know right its like this centuries problem with nuclear bombs
Thats why he made decission to bomb them.
how do you know all that?
Kristo, i didn't saw it. Waiting for May 17th to go to Aliens Night. Iam using info currently known about the movie adding a bit of imagination.

@@jeremycarl2401 and now alien romulus doesn’t look promising just the same all over again
Complicated? He straight up bisected her for shits and giggles. That’s just evil, no complication about it

I'm just now seeing this for the first time... about 6 years too late. This should have been part of the actual movie.
I would watch a movie with just David and Elizabeth in the ship, that ended with this scene.
ilovelamp22 Passergers
I was thinking the same thing, they could have shown them searching through the ship discovering all kinds of things, then they could arrive at the planet in the end... brilliant... like they could make us hate the engineers and cheer David when they get there... show them building the pyramids and enslaving humans or whatever, then wiping out the Mayans,,, where do I get my ticket for that movie?
Dern Vader 'Star Gate'
A frustrating waste of Noomi Rapace/Elizabeth Shaw... this entire prologue is more promising than the film itself.
This prologue is better than the movie. Sad.
Thank the current political correctness push! The entirety of HOLLYWOOD has allowed its self be corrupted by its plague! Every movie that has be released in the past 8 years has been nothing but trash as a result!
@@La-familia-de-Fazio I personally blame bad script and focus on oversimplifying the movies.
Is it bad I'm more interested in the Engineer home world than the rest of the movie?
Nah m8, me too. I only wish they'd show us a bit more about them. So sad...... :(
well its a good thing that's what the movie was about ^^
Alex FRD No I feel the same.
I was really worried about the environment the colonists disturbed rather than them dying. All about David's scrolls, specimens records... Being destroyed was much of a concern for me rather than the gore, most of the time. It shows how much I would rather dive into David and Shaw's story than covenant.
i was more interested in the space pirate homeworld
SilverStrumer It would of. Big time.
I had the same feeling. This looks waaayy more intriguing than Covenant
well, I dont see how a movie about a person and an android exploring the engineer's home land would be interesting and suitable in a alien universe.
I'm pissed off that none of the scenes with Dr Shaw and David on the ship together were in the film
That is half the bliss with good trailers though; using scene not to advertise a film, but to extend it in a meaningful, and human way.
Congrats: You just found out the definition of a fucking Prologue.
This was part of a marketing campaign. They did similiar scenes for Prometheus also. Like young Weyland talking in some conference

It's so much more interesting than the standard alien story the previous trailers had made us expect. :)

Like the film, I suspect this post will be of little note.
fully get you. there was so much hope after this trailer and introduction, and i felt so incredibly much exitement for the prospect of watching shaw and david explore, to pick up the same air of mythology that hung around prometheus as well - and then covenant happened. my only hope is that, maybe, in future films, they go back to the journey on the ship - maybe they did visit another place before, and only then set course to the planet we see in covenant. idk. i'm just incredibly disappointed if that was it
I too was disappointed. We can only hope that future alien films take that more bold direction, regardless of what others say.

scary, when you remember, as David commented on the engineers death in Prometheus "at least they are mortal" David is a heck of a genius :D
Flavio Muñoz that is from ozymandias?
yes it is
After probably decades traveling to the creators' planet, David might have had time to experiment and create new concoctions with whatever substances he found inside the enormous ship... maybe some alien-making substance...
Yes, and that experiment is called E. SHAW.
Maybe the Engineers directly or indirectly cause Shaw's death during the trip, and David's drops the goo bombs because he's pissed and wants revenge.
That.... Actually makes a lot of sense. And add in his tendency to play God. Hmmm... Good point you made.
That's quite likely the case. Noomi Rapace is returning, but probably only for this brief intro...
I'm thinking the same.
Gene O'Brien He's going to use her womb to make more aliens, duh.
I rarely watch a movie more than once, but I've seen Prometheus at least 5 times. I LOVE sci-fi/space/alien movies!
I'd watch a 3 hour movie of David and Shaw
I don't think this could have made a movie alone as most of the comments suggest, but I think even a 20 minute short film detailing the journey and David's subsequent... 'research' and Shaw's reaction and demise would have been interesting.
I keep coming back to this. I'm convinced this is one of the best movie trailers of all time despite how the movie turned out.
Movie turned out to be total shit.
It all started in the year 1943!
hey u m a m i !! I agree, it's disappointing they did not go in the direction this trailer would have you believe
@@joyoptimal6286 If you don't liked Prometheus then maybe (duh) you should watch the Alien movies prior to it..!!
@@miniwaern I have seen all of them. That is why I said the prometheus sequel was total crap. No story building of where the engineers came from or their planet or none of that. It was a total waste, killed the lead character of the new sequel and built nothing really.
this explains so much. I have way more understanding about what happened to them when they left the world with promethues
at least it was very logical, that the only being, who can repair David will be Shaw.
She's smart enough to understand his instructions though.
Interesting David says
"We were finally going to meet OUR creators". yet he knew who his creator was; Peter Weyland.
NYCurbanLatina technically it’s the creators of his creator. It’s basically his grand-creator.
Psychotic Trait yep makes more sense XD
We were finally going to meet our "creators". As in the ones they were searching for. Not their creators, their mission.
Freaky, huh?
@WANG SILANG Year_15 i agree
Prometheus is my favourite sci fi film and Noomi Rapace did a stellar job. I really wanted to see a sequel with her as the lead.
Jesus Christ, watch more sci-fi.
Visually it is amazing, but the script and writing is poor at best.
Why are you telling our lord what to do
I enjoyed it a lot
@@jeffwads6158 They are the ineptest scientists I've ever seen. They didn't even use common sense when exploring or taking samples, let alone standard protocols. I love the concept of these movies, and they are beautiful. Ridley Scott is definitely in my top five directors, but the writing/script is what is very poor. I've seen some alternate versions of the script that were much better, but if they'd have included more of what they cut or decided against, it would have made much more sense, along with having scientists that actually take precautions.
I SHAW that coming lmao!
HappiestSadGuy lmfao, just leave.
HappiestSadGuy - 😂😂😂👌💯
I'm pretty sure Shaw will be turned into a xenomorph queen.
Good god I hope not, that would one of the most bland concepts to ever be placed in a Alien film. Having a human turn into the Xeno Queen is just degrading to the Xeno's. Though I will give it credit for somewhat trying to play tribute to one of Giger's work.
HappiestSadGuy Ba dum tss
Mate I'd high five you if I could. Spot on
Because Scott produces Horror Movies. Shaw was never meant to meet "divine entities on paradise" in the first place.
Blame the other fans who only want alien
So Blade Runner 2049 giving us a Conestoga class assault ship,
Proves Aliens is still set 2079 gives you a new film order, Covenant the first film of the 22nd century,
Then David turned the Covenant around and headed back to Earth, Movie Earth War.
If you look at David here he seems rather honest in his caring of Shaw. Something must have happened during the time when Shaw was in sleep and David "learned of their ways" that changed him. Did he find some knowledge on the ship that overwhelmed him? Did something go wrong during the flight? Why was did the ship crash if he was able to get to the planet just fine and dock above the city?...
prometheus was flawless. this one is superb. i am glad i was alive to see them.
Utterly compelling! The solemnity of the last scene is absolutely chilling. Biblical.
Too bad the film itself wasn't that great.
perfect way to descirbe it
It's over already? I wanted to keep watching it!!!
Wow i just ...this is mind blowing from the other perspective,i hope there is an real answer inthe next movie..
This makes sense honestly, he thinks different from us, so what atrocities are to us aren't to him
And it also plays "homage" to the fact that Shaw is infertile. She can't bread humans so David honors her by making her the Eve of the Xenomorphs.
@@bensilver28 Very interesting.
First "normal" xenomorph were made by the Space Jokeys (who shouldn't have been represented as human like in the film, while they always were biomechanoid as we know), so Covenant and Prometeus just tell a non-trascendental parallel story in the Alien universe, showing strange (and non-sense) hybrids.
ridley said that during quarantine, he had enough time to finished some scripts.... i really hope one of those is another prequel-sequel
I hope not.
Game Over Man, Game Over!!!!!
Fuckin A
just watched aliens today. r.I.p bill Paxton...aka Hudson
Knock it off, Hudson!
Spoiler : David will touch every buttons he found.
Cahyo Prabowo I bet.
will also insert key on every key hole he finds!!!
And stick fingers in ALL the drinks!
0:25 Yeah, maybe put it in her "water" !
From what I can draw, when he talked about learning of their ways on the trip there, I think he realized that he had to destroy them in order to save humanity. That's why he had all of the bio weapon prepared and made the quote. It may turn out that he learned the engineers are worse than the xenomorphs.
C North I mean that makes sense to me for the most part, they did created Xenomorphs as weapons so that says a lot
It’s not the engineers home world apparently. It’s one of the worlds that the engineers seeded.
Donde puedo ver la pelicula?
This was the sequel literally all of us wanted.
This about to be the most epic Sy-Fi of 2017!!
Teon Jenkins cough cough Star Wars cough cough
UNCLE UTTERS Star wars is really its own genre. Definitely not labeled Sci-fi
George Lucas always called it "Space Opera".
I don't think anyone knows how bad I want to see this movie. I loved Prometheus
gotmoney123fly I do. I was watching Prometheus every night for a month. This movie is all I think about
gotmoney123fly Saw Prometheus in theater with my dad when it came out it was so great on the big screen and iv watched it high many times since then definitely a good movie to watch when your stoned with your friends and all they're minds are being blown.
Same here. I love Prometheus. Have seen it many times and will continue to. It's just a to darn good of a movie to stop watching it! So obviously I can not wait so badly to watch Covenant!! I have never done this for any other movie, I can't get over it.
I really hope we get another Elizabeth Shaw feature film
THIS IS WHAT I WANTED!
Is this prologue on Bluray extras? Better be!
Just having watched the Alien: Covenant on bluray - I gotta say; *MEH*
Expected something a whole lot more interesting from where this left off.
Was David actually innocent? Killing the engineers home world to defend Earth?
The Sisko He wasn't defending shit...... He probably killed them so he could have the place to himself and no one interrupting his experiments. Fuck him
lol I remember the theories about Shaw being an Alien Queen haha
It's still possible
Dude is about to drop hundreds of canisters of that black ooze on that planet, I bet Shaw gets turned.
If Shaw is a freaking alien queen I'm going to be yelling loudly at the theater.
killaka786 No, she helped create the alien queen. She had it removed in the last movie, and it grew into a giant squid monster, that killed the engineer that she was fighting. It then implanted itself into the engineer, which turned into a chest burster that came out of the engineers dead body, and made the alien queen.
+John Smith that's a deacon tho, not an alien queen..
I am so stoked for this movie, best marketing I've seen in a while!
Best marketing since Prometheus lol
yes, watching the movie is the only possible consequence.
seconded. Fuck Deadpool's marketing. This is high end
agreed! and i love all the movies.. ok thats a lie. i didnt like AVP or Ressurrection. loved the depressing vibe of Alien 3 though

you my good sir are correct. if you've seen the first movie you are automatically hooked n if this is your first time seeing anything to do with Prometheus, well then, welcome to what's going to be one of the top 10 movies of 2017
Im still hoping for Promethius 3 someday. I really enjoyed their adventure.
Tool Time he also says "so long as they are not worst". Well, he discovered they are worst.
"what if they are no better than us?"
"so long as they are no worst"
that. was. perfect.
Except its not correct, "so long as they are no worse" is what he says.
Poor Elizabeth....
there's something about that scene (where they show Dr. Shaw) that scared the crap out of me. I was frightened for the rest of the film.
Paratyr worst of all, she gets-
*Spoilers for the Advent Extra from te Covenant BluRay*
-her organs salvaged for David’s creation
Why did she trust David at all? What was she thinking?
Without David she has dead already. Who driven that halo ship ? Given intrustions ? Have many talks to keep her mind clear ?
Salander
Can't get enough of Fassbender impersonating tormented or dark caracters. David 8 is the reason I watch this series
Not funny dude, not funny. All that wasted talent, so sad.
Probably people who wanted to see and learn more about the engineers will have their chance in the next movie which will be set between Prometheus and Alien Covenant.
agreed, and covenant was pretty disappointing.
I did enjoy covenant, but I would rather see Blomkamps ALien than another Ridley film.
i hope this movie is 3 hours long
Allan Pizza and with the hidden scenes 2Hours 15minutes more!
Hidden scenes?
Allan Pizza I know right! This movie better be long as hell.
It's somewhere around 2 hours and something minutes long.
Allan Pizza nah bro it's 2 hrs and 3 min 😂
This should have been a whole movie, the missing part we need to link Prometheus and Alien Covenant. We missed Elizabeth Shaw, the Ellen Ripley of our time.
Elizabeth Shaw is a very poor imitation of Ellen Ripley. Ellen Ripley wasn't just tough, she was capable, intelligent, and cautious. Shaw was brave, but stupid, easily led, and prone to making rash judgements that got people killed.
@@jimbobeire she wasn't stupid at all, you just didn't understand the character

Not a single bit of this is going to be in the movie. It'll probably be just like that last one that had a great prologue youtube vid, but was not used in the movie.

Images from the set showed the amphitheatre scattered with dead Engineers/humanoids. That suggests to me that David "bombs" the site from above.
Yea that was pretty clear to hear
Eddy Fong yeaaaa
Dr Shaw! such a likable character...I certainly hope she's alive somewhere, I wouldn't stand seeing her turned into an alien queen, she deserves a more honorable fate...
I hope she turns out to be the space jockey inot alien
I still don't understand her naivety in not bringing weapons when they went on their first expedition.
For me Dr. Shaw is the most charismatic character in the series since Ripley.... I hope she's still around!
i think her being the first alien queen would make her role that much more important to the saga, and also get back at the engineers for being such jerks
I hope she gets her answers
just like that......a super advanced civilization didn't really mind checking who was inside the ship.....
Alex Ignis Umm do you not see the figures gathering at the center? That's the jockies. Those ants are jockies before dropping the goo.
Wha? But you did hear & see the immense crowd collecting right underneath the ship in the last few shots, no???
The Vision Its like when people leave their doors unlocked, until they get robbed.
When the prologue is better than the theatrical film release.

Schänder MOnd But is it gay if it's literally yourself?
I really wish we could get a true sequel to Prometheus.. the story of Shaw and David going to the creators could be a whole film…
Adam Fowler WOW you a nerd.
ok
I think its the latter, appropiate words to an species downfall.
He's not a nerd, lol I remembered the Poem because it was used on Breaking Bad. :P
and yes @Adam Fowler my money is on that this culture perished because it built such an efficient biological weapon, it managed to hijack the jockey race genetics. Kill Bee esque
I hope Shaw survives in this movie. And they find her in near the end, still sleeping. Idk what would happen from there. But Shaw has to live or I'm going to be really sad of her character build up in Prometheus.
I personally dont feel that shaw fits the role for the films.... they should have gotten another actress for the part.... but that just me....
well the theory that shaw becomes a alien queen went to poop.
nope !
Dawid is on his own stepping outside the ship. Shaw is far gone.
Mike K. I think he might just leave her asleep and then be like "sadly when we arrived they seemed to have died... Oh well" maybe not exactly that but idk David has no real reason to hate shaw and I don't believe he does
Heartbreaking what happens to her.
I'd never forgive that they killed Elizabeth Shaw off. The strongest human character in the Prometheus timeline and perhaps the 2nd greatest in overall after Ellen Ripley. 😢😭
She brought the character to life and she made her perfect. 😍

I like movies that go out of the norm and explain what we wondered how things came to be from the Alien franchise. Epic, Ridley Scott is one of our greats in my honest opinion.
NOW, this is the movie I wanted to see.
