Love the purple one. Also love to see my overlays in the wild 😜. Throw onion on it and it's perfect! Btw, has anyone at RH reached to you do to the podcast?
Can I assume there's no monitor output on this...?
Imagine if you traveled back in time to the 80s and brought this with you.
I would've been a god in the 90's if I had one of these
Just don't forget that c type charger!
@@protodad6151 oh no I have to go back to 2023!!
You'd be God at recess and after school.
Someone would've mugged, stole it from you then stabbed you in the thigh... probably
Just got mine in. Ordered the Purple one from Powkiddy in March but never shipped so I contacted support and they ran out of them even though it said in stock for me. They offered the black and I went with that instead, got it last week. Such a solid feeling device. It has some heft to it with the battery weight. The screen is crisp. The SD is preloaded. I recommend watching tutorials on how to update the firmware and installing Onion OS.
Nostalgia tip: Get a bigger SD, like a 512 GB and load it with 480p 90s cartoons/anime.
Man, I'm still waiting for my black one from Keepretro. Says the black ones all ship before the 30th, but it's been delayed twice already and I can't say I have any faith in them shipping it within a few days from now. Well, if it still hasn't shipped after the 30th I'm contacting them. Just my luck to pre-order it pretty much the day it becomes available and to not get it until much later, even though other colours are already restocked and widely available for over a week already.
The SD card came preloaded with games??
@@lyoko111 yes
I just assumed 100% you already reviewed this without looking. Damn!
Good timing, ordered mine from Ali a week or so ago and should arrive in the next few days.
I just got mine today from Keepretro, very pleased so far.
receiving mine tomorrow, super pumped!
Can't wait to get mine Sunday. Itll be a nice treat after work.
Yes please : a video on custom firmware like Onion 😊
Awesome video, like always !
Great, honest review!🎉
Just picked mine up, same purple transparent color. Can’t wait to play
The first and probably only time in my life I will have a product before ETA PRIME publishes a video on it.
I have it for a month now and it really what I was waiting for. I've installed the latest OnionOS and it's even better. Mine is the black one with colored buttons.
I also have the Raspberry pi based handheld retro emulator, that one has become a novelty item and sitting somewhere collecting dust. I disliked it eventually because of the load time, but this one comes installed with Miyoo OS loaded with games and the from power on to the UI, takes seconds, unlike Raspberry Pi-based handheld where I needed to install stuff on my own, and took forever to load the UI once booted, eventually gave up using it. The difference in load time is almost equivalent to loading your Windows OS off of HDD vs NVME. This Miyoo Mini Plus is NVME for comparison, almost feels like a real Gameboy instant boot. I play this every night before sleeping to play some puzzle NES and so far so happy. Oh, the battery life is amazing, I haven't had to recharge it for over a week now, and I play about 30 minutes every day I guess this will last me another few weeks without a charge.
Thanks for the first glance. I've had mine set up for a day now and it's so damn good. The only gripe I have with it is that it's small for my hands, so my hands cramp up if I'm playing it for 15-20 minutes.
I just got this, the R35s and RGB20s for 50 bucks in total off of Temu for my first order. Can't wait for them!
Fantastic 🎉🎉🎉
Pretty cool looking
Just ordered mine from Amazon. First retro hand held like this for me. I'm super excited to try it out
You're going to love it. Just make sure you put onion OS on it
Do all your tinkering before starting any long playthroughs of anything! You may want to make big changes every few days for a little while (change OS, get a different SD card, etc).
Enjoy it! I have the RG35xx which is very similar and I love it. Highly recommended a custom OS if you have the tech skills for that sort of thing. It enhances the experience way more imo
Seeing that on your hands made mine cramp lol
i have both exactly the same colors as yours, and now with onion 4.2, i share the saves....use V2 on the go, mini plus on my sofa.....change between both when one dryes on power....its like a dream to me...
Mine comes in tomorrow. Can't wait.
Mine too lol
I wish the screen protector was edge to edge. Also does it feel comfortable holding down the bumper buttons for racing games?
The theme for this thing that makes it feel like a retro comic book is amazing, lol
I got this for my son for Christmas and it's really fun. It's great if you don't really care about anything past PS1.
I'm getting the smokey black one on Thursday. Can't wait.
Wish it could do NDS emulation though (but i already have a retroid flip so it's not that bad)
Thanks!
I really want a retro handheld with a design based off of the Gameboy Advance
I was going to say Powkiddy V90, but that’s a GBA SP clone. It’s fun if you get a new SD card to replace the stock one, and replace the firmware with the Miyoo OS. But that’s not what you were looking for..
@@oneeyesmiley5588 The V90 isn't even a GBA SP clone. It has the same basic shape, but it's much thicker and very ugly. The GBA SP looks pretty awesome and slick even today.
Man, Id really love to have something as compact as this. But my hands would definitely cramp with it. I struggle with a switch lite
These really look ideal for kids and would make fantastic gifts for them and non-gamers.
Wouldn't hurt if they made a "ultra" model which is a couple inches bigger all around and was a clam shell, but that maybe the limit of what is considered pocketable and very budget friendly.
Great idea to use Linux instead of Android as well.
Get an analogue pocket.
So does the device come with preloaded games? Or are they required to be put on manually?
Imagine this but more powerful and an oled screen
Fr, a gameboy styled handheld with a 4:3 oled would be my dream handheld
Imagine if they used an older Snapdragon 429 phone grade CPU in this and didn't disable the modem. That would allow them to run a version of Android. Then you'd have all your retro gaming plus upscaling, as well as the ability to use it for phone calls, texts, light web browsing (looking up a sports score or something), and maybe even music streaming. An all in one device the size of an old iPod is appealing.
But; it doesn't have a touchscreen? Neither did the PSP and it was a capable personal media player / web browsing device. In the native web browser and KVM (for Java Opera Mini) it treated the analog stick as a mouse cursor. Android natively supports mice. Plug one into your phone and a cursor immediately pops up and just works. Have the d-pad on this be recognized as a mouse when you're not in games. When you need to type something in an onscreen keyboard pops up and you simply use the old video game method of scrolling and clicking.
Obviously it wouldn't be for the terminally connected; but, for me it'd be perfect. My use case for on the go mobile devices is gaming, some UA-cam, standing by for phone calls, occasionally actually doing phone calls, checking the news, the occasional text, and scanning fast food apps at the register for free food.
@@mattdavis9601 nah that's just too much. These devices keep your attention on one thing without all the other distracting crap. That's why a Gameboy was so great.. Throwing all of that in might as well just get a phone
Does it comes ready to play with pre installed games? Or you have to do some kind of setup?
Great video and I am just about to buy one of these so it was perfectly timed :). Would love to see some custom firmware (onion etc) running to see how they perform as my winds its was from China to my home ..
Are the games pre installed on the device itself or it comes from the sd card upon purchase?
Great review by the way, very informative. Kudos.
you install the roms yourself
How did you disable the green light on top? I have the same translucent purple model and the light bleeds through the front. Thanks!
Maybe I should get this. Been debating it for a while because it's been low stock
I ordered mine 14 days ago. Just got it in. I bought it at a reseller a bit overpriced, but I wanted it so bad
Is this easy to use out of the box or is there lots of stuff to do via a laptop?
So does it come with the games preloaded? If they do, I'd be interested in buying
This little guy is really awesome and I kinda want it for GBA emulation, anyway great job on this review ETA, your the best and someone to aspire too!
Hi ETAPRIME! A friend of mine is actually getting interested with retro handhelds and I recommended your channel, can you please also test MGS on PS1? Thank you!
Trying to decide between this or Retroid Pocket 3 plus for my first handheld.
How is the plastic quality on the clear purple compared to the solid "grey"?
I love my Miyoo Mini +
I bought one today but can you tell me if Mortal Kombat 1-3 run at full speed? Mk1 typically does 2 and umk3 not so much
Hey! Which one do you recommend? The RG35XX or this?
I really wanna buy this but im new to this type of handheld. Where do you go to get games for it??
I wish they made those super compact handhelds with a horizontal form factor. I have huge hands and the miyoo mini + still looks like it would be a bit cramped.
You might want to check out the rg280m. Its compact and plays the same systems as this one. Not as good screen and the onion os is much better but adam image on the rg280m is pretty good.
@@BeyondespCouldn't agree more with the op. Problem with the rg280m is that analog stick. To me the charm of the Miyoo Mini is how extremely pocketable it is and for me an analog stick really ruins that.
Maybe it's less visible IRL but it seems that the screen has a pretty bad light bleed in the bottom right.
Ordered the purple back in feb from keepretro
Still waiting...
Hoping it ships at the end of the month
Same. I ordered my black one Feburary 26th and I think there were only like 2 videos available on UA-cam by then about the MM+. Honestly I don't think I was too late with pre-ordering a black one and looking by some comments Keepretro even offered black ones to some people who pre-ordered purple ones that got delayed even more. Meaning... they did get some black ones and they are offering them to other people before offering them to people who actually pre-ordered black ones.
I have no faith they're gonna ship it before the end of this month and I'll keep the order until they send it, but... I'll never order anything from Keepretro again.
Probably the best retro console launched this year so far. Because it's easy to use.
I just ordered one of these... I have a Steam Deck but I just liked the form factor..
How are you liking it? I have a steam deck also but for this summer I wanted something much smaller for retro stuff and I dont have to worry about damaging or losing it.
Alixpress has them for $50 and free shipping so why not
Can you tell me what the best video settings for gba are I can't figure out how to get rid of the pixels lines and make it clear and crisp as possible
What is the difference between v2 and V3 for mm+ ? And found mm+ v2 44euros with shipping do you thinks it's a good deal ?
I only got the Miyoo Mini because it was smaller, Id rather get the RG35XX if this is the size they are gonna go for
I love the mayo miney
7:34 that's Marvel vs Capcom not Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. Good video overall, as always.
How does this compare to the Ambernic RG35XX?
Are they easy to open? I want to change some button colors but am a little scared to open it
Am I in the Matrix, or did I started to watch this video earlier than you released it now!? 😵💫
He had an error or something with the original upload, so reuploaded it (see pinned comment)
Not to be a downer... but the RG35XX at $55 and better performance kind of kills it. If Miyoo would re-release the original then I'd definitely be a customer but I'd like to pay retail for it and not reseller prices!
Unfortunately the original Mini used old displays from the Blackberry Bold 9900, which haven't been made in at least a decade. The OG Mini was a victim of it's own success, because they basically blew through all the remaining stock that's left out there, and there's just no viable way to make more of those--hence Miyoo's continuous stock debacles and them eventually making the Plus version with the same display as the Anbernic RG35xx (which is still in production.)
Nah once you get Onion OS on this it easily becomes far better. If Onion OS supports it that is. Also I can still find the Mini in stock?
@@marksapollo nah man once you try garlic, its straight to the point gaming
Wulff Den did a comparison of the two. He said the Anbernic's D-pad is not as good as the Miyoo's. No performance difference otherwise with Onion vs Garlic OS. Stock firmware is better on the Miyoo.
@@ericw4377 garlic actually performs better. do you have one? can miyoo overclock tho? and wulff is not the president of dpads. the community as a whole believes the anbernic dpad to be of decent quality. why everyone with a miyoo so biased with rose colored glasses?
Does it come with onion built in or is it just the themes?
i know this caters to a certain audience but im really looking forward to the day they have ps2,360,ps3 era type emu games on a handheld
Can you do a review with the Miyoo Mini plus with Steam OS? Because I think that might be a game changer for Miyoo Mini.
Got an RG35XX yesterday.
Big fan! Loved the video… but it’s pronounced “ ME-YOU “
Does it have pre-installed games?
if there is pre-installed games then yow many are the pre-installed games?
I really wanted to buy this, but the lack of RTC support was a deal breaker for me. This could have been the ultimate Gameboy Pokemon handheld but instead the Anbernic 35XX is definitely the way to go. Assuming you want to play games with RTC.
What’s rtc? I’m looking for something for Pokémon too
@@NeoSpacian1237 real time clock. If you are planning on making use of the clock feature in Pokemon S/G/C or R/S/E then you should go with the RG35XX instead. It's cheaper, and has accurate real time ock support for Pokemon games. That's what I ended up buying and it's great with the custom Garlicos. Great stock as well, just better with the custom operating system.
OnionOS is adding RTC over wifi soon
Its added now.
I mean, it takes like 10 seconds to setup RTC once you login.
Can you please show it playing castlevania SOTN for ps1?
You're absolutely right about that. I'm actually going after this one but you know why people thought that this one was popular because, this is the one every body on the internet saw as the emulator device thing going on.thats why?? Miyoo mini doesn't do higher end system s. Lol😢😢😮😅😮😂😂 UA-cam saw this as the emulator thing when they first found out that why's 😢😢
Man, you've got more disclaimers than a pack of cigarettes.
Hey, were you thinking of reviewing that Data Frog SF2000? I've got one of those coming from China, and while it's not in any way spectacular, it was only $24...
I hope to review LattePanda Sigma
Now the real question, if I'm playing Pokemon with my friend, and we want to have a link battle....Is there network capability for this?
How does one install all the retro games on this unit?
Keepretro screwed me over for the pre order so i would never recommend them to anyone.
and it looks like the raised the price too. cool
Weird i got mine within a week of ordering
@@danwichgames message them
They offered me a white or grey version if I wanted it faster(they said 6 days)
I really want purple tho so I'm waiting
@@joe_schmoe_420 that offered that to me too and honestly I feel those are both pretty horrible looking. I ordered a purple one because that was the only one I could live with. So they kept blowing smoke up my ass by telling me it would be two more week like 3 times
Purple is pretty much sold out world wide. Need to wait till 1-2 week of May. Black is soon next week
1:53 and it's a good thing the miyoo mini doesn't have joysticks. There's enough options for that already.
Moar moar moar! I want to see onion OS on it. And save state syncing!
Lets get a step by step onion OS Video.. with a new SD card 🙏🏼😊
I’m having trouble with the games battery. I start playing Pokémon red and if I l leave it to long the battery will die and my game progress is lost, so I have to restart, any tips?
It looks great but I prefer the previous Miyoo iteration. It's smaller and more concealable 😅
Hand cramps tho
@@MobikSaysStuff
these HOARDERS and SCALPERS dont mind hand cramps.
they dont really playing any of retrogame at all.
@@MobikSaysStuff you can play rpgs 1 handed
@@MobikSaysStuff complex PS1 games are like massaging a hamster. Great system though
@@MobikSaysStuff I've done a few 3-4hr sessions on it, and I'm yet to get any cramps.
Still waiting for my Plus to arrive though! :🥳
the hardest thumbnail yet
One after one gaming consoles !
Better support for the odroid go ultra please
Where was the comparison to the RG35XX? At least let everybody know there’s an alternative that is available for purchase and not sold out most of the time
and objectively the better system: faster cpu clock, double the ram, has a gpu that is currently experimental allowing more psp, n64, nds. its crazy so many mm+ comparisons but 35xx comes out on top in terms of hardware and availability. it may not have a polished OS for some cute custom skins or cute buttons but you can actually start gaming now and not be stuck waiting like some people
@@Riosjonathon shame about your skill issues. enjoy your hand cramps.
@@Riosjonathon I'd take a bad dpad that can easily be fixed with a piece of tape over having worse performance/functionality, less availability, higher price, worse screen and speaker, no RTC or HDMI out.
I wonder if it will ever be possible to have a DS emulator that uses two screens, i'd buy a device like that
...a ds, ds lite, 2ds, 3ds, 2dsXL they all can be hacked from what I understand. Play all the retro games and more, no?
its too weak to run DS emulator
Hey theres a typo in the description "Buy The Milo Mini Plus"
my MM+ screen gets loose on the bottom left/right side while playing, like when you tap it there's this clicking thing going on.
didn't noticed it starting to detach though, the adhesive on top part is good cause it's sturdy, the only part that doesn't get loose.
How long before the screen starts to get loose? Is it playable after that?
@@SuperTutti20 only when you're playing, yes still good.
i don't want to teardown mine just to put some double adhesives, i'll just leave it be for now. cause someone told me that it's kinda hard to remove the screen because of the adhesive on top.
plus i noticed MM+ screen getting hot. i booted a PS1 game on my RG35XX and MM+ at the same time and let them idle, RG35XX' screen doesn't get hot while the MM+ did. i don't know how to tweak/tinker on the onionOS. 😹
Thanks for your reply. It helps me to decide between anbernic or MM+. I guess I know which one to click and add to cart now 😄
@@SuperTutti20 yeah, no problem. i prefer the RG35XX's screen, it's cheaper and doesn't have any issues. definitely a no brainer.
the only reason I picked up the MM+ is because of the size and aesthetic.
If play Game Boy Color or DMG, can it play fullscreen?
I got the purple one because I also own the same Game Boy Color, so that shit sure takes me back. For the nostalgia alone, I give it a 12/10.
It's also much easier to set up and work with than say, the retroid pocket 3+, but i was also unlucky with mine so it was a tad busted from the start. Works perfectly fine now, and I'm using the pocket 3+ mainly to play Pokémon Unite (because my switch's joycons keep getting fucked) and Mario Kart Double Dash.
I gotta get some more of these sexy handhelds tho, even if it's just for the aesthetics haha. (got the pocket 3+ with the neat "european" SNES design, so a beige-ish grey with green/blue/yellow/red main buttons.)
lol anyone else notice a certain hub theme at 4:51 😂
Is it possible to play multiplayer?????? with other systems like RG351M RG353p RG552..
QUESTION: can you save progress in all games?
Bought 128gb version and most of the preinstalled games or roms doesn’t work. I’m trying to fix it but still lost.
I'm new to this emulation stuff. I really wanna try this out but i see comments talking about Onion os or whatever.. Someone fill me in.. Is it confusing af to do? Not a big computer person
I cant wait for something like this to come out that can play ps2 games perfectly
something like this will never play ps2
@@HitoriGnocchi I beg to differ
How much bigger can they make it in the next iteration?
Introducing the Miyoo Mini Countryman!
12/13/23 I just bought one from Aliexpress for $49.42 after tax and shipping.
I’m finding the Dodd to be very squishy and unresponsive in action games like Metroid zero mission. Trying to get the items with the shine spark is impossible.
Miyoo Mini Plus
RG35XX
RG351P
What’s the best one to get for mainly GBA games?
Anbernic is about to release the 353PS. If you want something a bit of a step up, that will likely be under $100.
Of the three you've suggested, I recommend the RG35XX if you just want cheap GBA and don't care about wifi, retro achievements, and don't mind updating your OS with an SD adapter in your computer. If that seems like a hassle, the 351P works great out of the box. Miyoo Mini+ is good for the wifi but they have lower quality than Anbernic.
@@Surai00 What upgradea will the 353ps have over these
@Man_eee it should have a better CPU and a slightly larger screen than the 351 series. The RG35XX can already run most GBA games at 300% speed, so it's not really necessary for strictly GBA.
351p has the 3:2 display perfect for gba nice flat compact shape but it costs more. 35xx is a nice all-arounder and cheaper
@thecheeztube okay thank you for the reply
Sadly the deal breakers for me is that it is larger which honestly the smaller form factor of the V2 was the sell point to be able to slip into say a shirt pocket or a card pack case. I have my RG351P for long play comfort gaming. The lack of crystal blue is also a major bummer.
I feel the same way. I was never able to get the V2 though so I have to settle for the Plus.
@@MeatNinja I had the V2 and the quality control on mine at least was garbage. It was expensive due to lack of inventory and the small form of it cramped my hands easily. Each their own but I’m excited to get my hands on this version instead
Wish they put a bigger battery inside, A 4 core cpu and at least 2gb of ram
