thx for the video
Glad you liked it
Great in-depth review
Thank you. Hope it helped!
@@batpixel very much so yes thank you
the speaker cutting out with your thumb is a feature. Its nostalgic the same with the slight creak of the plastic on the battery panel
Hahaha I can’t disagree with you there. Very good point
@@batpixel its why i think i love my mini as much as I do. Its imperfections, and they exist fall into that rose colored glasses realm of nostalgia. It fits in a pocket for lunch brakes, the D pad is almost oem quality and the wifi for updates, retro achievements, and fingers crossed 2player action over Thanksgiving with my brothers is a fantastic.
@@ozmosis0074 Sounds like a fun Thanksgiving. What games will you be playing 2player?
@@batpixel everything from street fighter turbo to secret of mana maybe even a hint of contra. Its where I get to be the "old guy" in gaming. Local multi player is something that is sorely missed.
I play online multiplayer with my friend who owns the Miyoo Mini Plus, but I make a point to go visit him so we can play some classic couch co-op sometimes. Can’t beat that nostalgia
Great review. I just got one as well ans love it. The short bootup times make it great for pickup and play on the go.
By any chance are you in Nova Scotia or Newfoundland? I recognize that east coast accent. :)
Yeah it’s a great little handheld. You nailed it, I’m from Newfoundland
@@batpixel awesome! The Miyoo Mini Plus is so great I kinda makes me want to get another one. They've been restocking the original non plus in small quantities recently in the new yellow color. Out of stock for now.
I'm formerly from Halifax.
Good to know! Cool a fellow East Coaster 🤘🏻
@@batpixel Newfoundland accent still has so many words and phonemes you share pronunciation with Irish accent. Is interesting.
@@Omar_Littleyes a large part of my family originates from Ireland!
Thanks for great video review. I will buy this for 100%. Tell your friend you can go to some electronics/home appliances store/phone store and they will cover that glass with durable glass or gum luminate and it won't scratch
Thank you 👌🏻
I have and Rg35xx and had a coupon for one of these for $35 shipped. Definitely worth it at that price point! Did you know that there have been some rumblings that Miyoo's next product is a foldable portable, which seemed to be about this screen size.
Woa that’s an awesome deal. I’m editing a video this evening that mentions having a handheld that folds vs doesn’t fold up because I was thinking about that too! A foldable version would be amazing. I love the foldable Powkiddy V90 haha I take it everywhere
I hope will be similar like gba sp.
You should check out my Powkiddy V90 videos. It’s like that but less powerful
By now it's been pretty much confirmed that they are working on one. Think it's called Miyoo Mini Flip and it looks similar to a GBA SP.
@@thenonexistinghero yeah that’s awesome
Colecovision and intellivision with the stock os or only with onion os? That's what i'm looking for? I think you sold me.
I would generally recommend installing Onion OS on a new micro SD card like a Sandisk. Keep the stock os card as a backup. It seems like Colecovision/Intellivision may take a few steps to get working because I have seen Reddit posts and UA-cam videos about an updated fix to get it working. Just check some online forums and some videos about it so you know what to expect
The Miyoo Mini + comes with a screen protector in the box. What happened to it?
Maybe a fault in the packaging process
Thanks for reminding. Got it 2 months ago and the protector was still in the box
if I have a Steam Deck is this worth getting over the RG35XX or at all? And if yes, where from? Are they pocketable?
I think you’d prefer the Miyoo Mini Plus because it’s a little smaller and more pocketable. Not as comfortable as a cell phone in your pocket, but the RG35XX will be a bigger feel in comparison. They are both very very similar, so you will get a good handheld either way. The Miyoo Mini Plus has a smaller version called a Miyoo Mini, although I think it doesn’t perform as well as the Plus, but it’s a lot smaller if you’d like something that’s very comfortable in your pocket. There are good comparison videos of all of these handhelds out there too. And like you said, the Steam Deck can handle any 32 & 64 bit systems like N64/PS1/Dreamcast etc. better and it has joysticks. Try finding it on AliExpress or I have an Amazon link in the description. AliExpress will probably be a little cheaper
@@batpixel tysm for the response! That's what I figured as well, but I don't know how trustworthy AliExpress is regarding the negative rep it gets
Try the Miyoo M.P, I got a total of 4 RG35XX for me my cousin and sister. And 3 out of 4 consoles BROKE. I was pissed. They ended sending me another one and that one literally came broken! I gave up on the RG35XX and am thinking of getting this one instead.
In terms of aesthetic and feel, this is generally still considered to be the best of its kind. And the newer versions of this also come with a CPU that's clocked at 1600 MHz instead of 1200 MHz (which is what my unit runs at). I think some other competitors of this may offer analog sticks, some more performance or both. Ultimately it all comes down on preference. For me this is perfect until a compact handheld comes out that does a great job emulating PS2 and Gamecube (which current compact handhelds like this do fall short off... they can run a lot of their games, but a lot of their libraries still give trouble, so until then I'll just settle for something that can run anything up till about PS1 level well).
Yeah very good points. That’s how I feel about their level of performance now as well. I run the newer consoles on the ROG Ally with Bluetooth controllers or handheld mode. I’m hoping they maintain the high quality of this one if they release a flip version
i bought one of these.
i wish these would of put that speaker in the middle. its a real effort not to cover the speaker
Yeah agreed. It can get annoying sometimes
Yes it is!
For sure. I hope the standards stay high in 2024!
these are now below €55. so good value
Yeah that’s awesome. Such a good quality handheld
PS1 games aren't even programmed with a joystick in mind because the controller for PS1 is only a D-pad.
PS1 started out with a d-pad only, but the joysticks were released during its lifetime so there are some games where you have the option to take advantage of it
Shout out to your boy Chad.
Chad is the man 😄
RGB20S powkiddy is better imo and I hate the cracking/popping sound whenever you turn it on and off
What do you like more about the RGB20S? I never tried that one out yet
@@batpixel it can emulate nds and dreamcast better, it doesn't have the cracking/popping noise from the speaker like the miyoo mini + (i already upgraded the speaker to the recommended Sony z5 compact) still getting the noise cracking when turning on/off, cheaper in price i see the miyoo mini + in the 70-80 dollars on amazon, the free stickers are fun for my kids also, i hate autosave on miyoo mini + as it has messed up my games a couple of times, for instance when playing pokemon it asked me in game to save and the version was corrupt or not saving properly that it just got stuck trying to save and no way to exit out except through the auto save exit button, even when i did a shutdown it autosaves when shutting down which made me start over, i think it's better to manually save but just my gripe when i had to restart progress because of this autosave feature overwrote the progress and couldn't recover the files.
Yeah that’s why I definitely recommend people install Onion OS so they can use Retroarch and setup their saves however they want. Thanks for the information I’ll have to check that Powkiddy out sometime
i'm waiting for the anbernic 405V looks like the original game boy (massive) but hopefully those specs make up for such a big boy@@batpixel
@@japexican007 that's cool. Let me know how it is!
How do you save games on it 🤔
You can save your games using ‘Save States’ or just save them the normal way when prompted in-game. If you mean loading games on it, I can’t give out that information, but the Miyoo Mini Plus will come preloaded with a ton of games
Ah yes sorry I ment when playing game. You want to come off. It say how do you save it. Etc
@@darrennico8527 you have 2 choices. Press the middle ‘menu’ button and you should be able to save the game in the menu. Or if that is not working, you can open the ‘RetroArch menu’ and save it in there
@@batpixel thanks. Mate. I have ordered one of eBay. It's been revamped up a bit. Better speaker put in it. Running the latest onion update all preloaded etc he said he's put a good memory card in it because the ones you get a from console are cheap. He mods them up so the frame rates should run for all games no messing etc. So hope so because I don't have a clue lol 😂
@@darrennico8527 that sounds awesome. Let me know how it works out for ya 👌🏻 this handheld is very good quality
Still worth it! As like I'm playing new games on this 😂😂😂
Hahaha it’s awesome
You should review the RG35XX too
Yeah some people have commented they prefer it over the Miyoo Mini Plus
I want this. Even though I just got the RG35XX plus
@@markoquendo675 what are your thoughts on the RG35XX Plus?
On onion os haw do i scrap art thanks
Here’s a recent guide on it ua-cam.com/video/T9AtRVU8vBU/v-deo.htmlsi=GWuHKM3iyLsgYoUk
I cart see that with updat 4,5,0 onion os
Depending on your version of Onion OS you may need to do some research on your version if that guide isn’t working. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help on this
I just returned mine. Most games don't work and if they do, the controls are awkward. Waste of money.
The controls are customizable, but yeah if you had that experience it’s 100% worth it to put OnionOS on a new SD card. It makes the device amazing. The stock OS and those cheap SD cards are definitely not reliable
Now it's for 50$ easy, even from local resellers in eu
Good to know it’s getting cheaper. Very good quality handheld
Paid $28 for mine
Where did you find that deal? Great price for that and I’m assuming USD
@@batpixel TikTok with a coupon. I just ordered it today. I’m assuming 2 weeks for delivery as it’s coming from China.
@@DanielDuranamoPRODuranprobably a scam lol
@@DanielDuranamoPRODuranhave you got yours yet I got mine for $28 as well today Found it at $27 when it was going for $37-$48 and used a coupon
@@DanielDuranamoPRODuran u gonna get bootleg one 💀
I got mine for 30 💃
That’s a solid deal! 👌🏻
100 bucks?! 50-60 max
Yeah, it was around $85-100 bucks Canadian at the time of making the video. In my next video I stated USD specifically to avoid confusion lol
I’m seen it at $56
well I mean that also depends. my cost 99.00 after tax and I got mine on Amazon and its the 128g version with the case and screen protector etc.
realistically its like $60 for the 68g and it's like $75-80 for the one with the 128g (which pro tip everyone recommends you replace anyways with a name brand card) and so like $80 or $90 if you get the 128 with a kit and stuff.
So it does vary quite a bit depending.
Someone commented they got a deal on Temu for $25 with discount offers. I’m assuming that was in USD, but I wasn’t able to find that deal myself
Canadian dollars not US dollars
Is it PS2 compatible?
It can handle a lot of PS1 games. If you’re looking for PS2 you should check out some more powerful handhelds out there in a similar price range or higher
