I have that same Transparent Black MMPlus! One of the best compact sized portrait based handhelds along with the ANBERNIC RG280V and the ANBERNIC RG35XX Plus. Though, I prefer the 35XX Plus because it has dual micro sd card slot, has Batocera as a CFW and it has a very decent onboard video media player app.

@@VladNerd Video media players is always a cool feature to have on retro handheld devices! Especially, the players that play all video formats without issues. Not only am I loading and watching movies, also complete series TV shows. Right now, I currently have every episode of Star Trek TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise on my 35XX Plus. I also have shows and animated series like The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince Of Bell-Air, Spider-Man 1994 Animated series and etc. I plan to have a 1TB micro sd card in both slots. I already have a 1TB in the roms slot and it has all of my roms libraries along with about 800GB of TV shows and movies. In a few days I plan to get a 1TB in the firmware slot as well. I'll be doing the same scenario to my ANBERNIC Arc-D whenever it arrives.

Literally everything your emulation device can do your phone can do better in terms of media consumption. Bigger and better screen, better battery life, always on you instead of bringing another device with you. Oh you don't have such a good phone? Well you certainly have the money for it if you can buy multiple 1tb cards for such a useless project. Anyways enjoy your movies 👍.

All the devices can play games, and play them well, but the difference is the Miyoo feels like it was designed to game. It was designed to facilitate the most seamless and hassle free experience. If it's convenient to use, youll spring for it more because as humans we are drawn comfort and familiarity.
Ackchyually it's not hibernate. It just creates an autosave and then shuts the device completely off. When you turn it on it loads the save before loading the UI to it seems very fast (about 12 seconds). GarlicOS on RG35XX is even lighter, so it does the same in about 8 seconds. ArkOS os R36S can do the same (It's called Quick mode), but booting the system takes about 18 seconds.
I mean, it resumes the state of where you were, one could make the point that hibernate does the same exact thing (even though I agree, the way in which OnionOS does it isn't technically "hibernating" the device, but the overall UX is the same) :)
@@kord2003 it's not a lie. It's all about how it's implemented. Anbernic devices still take a ton of time to load and this doesn't work across all cores. Onion OS is not finicky. It loads fast from a cold boot and on any core, giving you the feeling on continuity.
Or maybe get the original rg35xx (on clearance now!) with garlic os 1.4.9. Better hardware, same-ish software, no wi-fi tho. The grey OG rg35xx in particular looks way nicer than any miyoo, just like a real gameboy. And let's face it most time will be spent looking at it on a shelf.
Yup, does it when it turns on as well. Don't worry, they all do. They used a smaller transistor on the PCB or something like that. It'll still outlive us, as long as you don't drop it. :)

Oddly, I find my self reaching for my Retroid Pocket Flip more than any other handheld which is saying a hell of a lot. I think it's because it's one of the only devices that doesn't feel like it's just a phone with a controller slapped on it. Thanks man.
Retroid really took a risk with the Flip, and I think it paid off. Despite all the drama around it, there's something really special about flip devices. I HATE the idea of joysticks getting caught in my pocket. Something like the flip gives an elegant solution to this. Can't wait for the flip 2 to come, it'll be one of the first devices that I buy day one. 😁
i really wish anbernic gets smthing as good as onion os. Cuz I love anbernic's form factor and love miyoo's onion os. But I hate the miyoo form factor and hate anbernic's software.
ArkOS does in fact has a sort of hibernate function. It’s called quick mode and you can set the power button to tap once to off and it’ll save the metadata/save state during power off. You turn on the device and you’ll be back to where you left off. But yeah, I do agree that Onion OS is amazing and is the golden standard for handheld OS

Thanks for making this video, Vlad! I carry mine in my backpack and often use it on public transportation. Being able to put the system into hibernation is one of my favorite features. I purchased the MMP then a few days later purchased an RGB30. I love the screen on the RGB30 but for some reason I always pick up the MMP when I want to play unless it's 3DO then I stick with the RGB30. If it weren't for these handhelds I would not have discovered PICO-8.

Thanks for the enthusiasm. I am going back to my MM+ now after a brief hibernate of a week. The only thing lacking on MM+, for me is no bluetooth. I usually just pop a single earbud on, and play with other devices, but for MM+, I have to add a bluetooth transmitter, esp when I don't want anyone listen to my playing. Hope they have Bluetooth on the upcoming A30
@@VladNerd it is easier to get a single bud in and out of the pocket on the go. If i were to play it for like 10 to 15 minutes on the go, getting in and out of the headphones for a minute is quite crucial to me, making me don't wanna play because of the hassles, and esp I have OCD of getting the wire neat, so it doesn't get entangled for the next play.

So i only have these 2 devices. The 35xxh sticks suck. Terribly so. Not even really analogue, 8 directional and massive deadzones. Shame as a really like if it the sticks flipping worked. edit: im actually going ot try return it. I think miyoo mini with something more powerful is all you ever need for a few years,
Relax guys, it's the same handheld for all of us. Both of you are right in your own way: - The RG35XX H is excellent for the price. - The thumbsticks really do have a tendency to "snap" to one of the 8 directions. Most of the time, it acts like an 8-directional pad. It is analog though, I can make Raziel (Dreamcast version of Soul Reaver) to just walk by only pressing the stick a little. Not the best analog, but there we have it. So yeah, I hope that settled the dispute. I need us all tightly-knit for when we eventually take over the world and impose Nerdocracy. Such rifts between us only slow the process down. :(
