I had to laugh when you started your orbit around the lighthouse, there were 2 black seals climbing the stairs. When you went completely around, they were in view again at the very top. I didn't know that seals could climb. Beautiful place you were at, thanks so much for sharing.
Marcus love your videos. I also enjoyed seeing the Sea Lions climb those steps to the top. It is just amazing what you can find when flying drones. This was an awesome flight, thanks for sharing!
I ALMOST GOT JEALOUS 😢. BUT I can't be jealous because you've done a flight like this with Autel Evo Lite Plus. I appreciate that because that's what made me pull the trigger and purchase the Evo Lite Plus. So im sure someone is watching this and using this video as a deciding factor like i did. Nevertheless, GREAT VIDEO YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿. Love it!
I loved that location when I was there, the views from almost any angle were beautiful. And I wish I would have had a drone like the DJI Air 3 to make it out to that lighthouse. I did get some shots of it with my long lens. Great flight and footage, and interesting narration about the history of terrible Tilly. Thanks for sharing Marcus.
Wow! That first glimpse of the lighthouse in the distance made me wonder about your decision to fly that far. Well, no problem for that drone. Great flight, thanks for sharing.
Great flight Marcus! The Oregon coast, and an Air3, a match made in Heaven. If you are going to push limits, you couldn't have chosen a more scenic place.
Hey Marcus! 👈🥸👉 Great flight, my friend! I really enjoyed it. Columbarium is a place where peoples ashes are stored. My parents reside in one down in Pawleys Island, SC. Cheers, Brendan
Thanks for the flight of the lighthouse really cool with all the seals around, the down side is your were flying in a wilderness area, almost all of the coast in Oregon is a no fly zone please be careful and always check to make sure it's legal to fly.
I like the seals climbing the staircase! There are a couple closer locations to fly from, Indian Beach, and from the cliff overlook at end of hiking trail.
Marcus you really been putting out some incredible videos lately. This footage is just impressive! I saw some seals climbing on the steps of that lighthouse.👍👍
Another Gr8 video of Oregon Marcus, thank you....was wondering if anyone flew out to see Terrible Tilly with a drone, and sure enough, you did. I watched your video of Seaside a few weeks ago. Gr8 videos, Tnx again, hope you enjoyed Cannon Beach also, a nice lil Town and Haystack Rock.
Welcome to the Oregon coast! We're having great weather this week. The word is, "columbarium." The Tillamook Rock Lighthouse is within the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge - aircraft are asked to maintain at least 2,000 ft (600 m) clearance (but, there is an exception for the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse). Timing is everything. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is in the process of establishing regulations affecting launching/landing zones at Oregon state parks (I served on the Advisory Committee). This will not be a total ban on launching/landing within the parks, but there may be specific areas mapped where launching/landing will be permitted. However, to date, no actual regulations have been promulgated. I live on the coast near Pacific City, Oregon - about 70 miles south of Cannon Beach. Enjoy Oregon. Travel well.
Hello Ed, thank you for serving on the advisory committee. I did check the Oregon Parks website before I took off there. It essentially says "don't bother people or wildlife, and if in doubt ask". I'm okay with launching zones. It's far better than outright bans.
@@IdahoQuadcopter I do not expect actual regs to be implemented before the end of the year. OPRD staff is trying to "map" specific permitted areas for launching and landing w/i OPRD as well as figure out how to provide effective "notice." This is complicated by Oregon having a shoreline/beach, the entire length of which is public domain ... administered by OPRD. The Advisory Committee only came up with broad conceptual stuff, OPRD staff has to craft the actual details and the OPRD Director will eventually promulgate the regs. A lot of work - OPRD has done a commendable job, so far, trying to balance everyone's specific interests/concerns. BTW - I started piloting an Air 3 in December 2024 (but, I have been piloting drones for ten years and have the 107 cert) and I often refer to your tutorials on this aircraft. So - thanx for that. Be well.
@@edruttledge342 Thank you so much for those kind words Ed. I am a Part 107 certificated flyer too. Part of the fun of this hobby is sharing it with others. 👍
@@IdahoQuadcopter Marcus - Here in the Northeast, many state parks require pre-approval, which is rarely granted to hobbyists. I wish they would consider pre-approved takeoff/landing zones as edruttledge suggests. We have been all the way down the Oregon coast from Astoria to the California border, and loved every minute of it! Aside from the stunning scenery around Cannon Beach, there is the Tillamook Creamery (a must), the old Tillamook Naval Air Station, and many miles of scenic wonders. This was one of your best and most scenic aerial adventures! Thanks and we look forward to more from the Oregon coast! Great job!
That was awesome Marcus! That Air 3 handled the distance with ease! You didn't mention in your video about all the seals that was on the lighthouse rocks and there were many! Several ventured to the top via the stairs while you approached! Could not really tell if any dead ones were there but if they had to jump or could not go back down the stairs, it would be bad news for them! Look closely at your video and you can see them going up!!! How crazy! Thanks for sharing!
Great video, Marcus would have looked good with the tele photo at 3 x would had given it a parallax effect going round the lighthouse, but what a beautiful place 😁👌👍 🇬🇧
Brilliant Marcus! I’ve seen so many of your videos and only just I’m not subscribed! Just sorted that out and dropped a like too from the post on drone seekers 👍👏🙂
Amazing Oregon history for sure! Curious... How were you able to maintain VLOS at that distance? How did you go about securing a VLOS flight waiver from the FAA? How difficult was that process? In advance, thank you! ;-)
This view is breathtaking!! Thanks for the history lesson on the Tillamook Lighthouse you learn something new everyday.!! Appreciate your voiceover with the Arial footage. What are your thoughts comparing the DJI Air3 vs DJI Air3S???
Imagine being on that lighthouse in the beginning, I could stay out there in peace no problem. But being out there and getting hit by a hurricane that you really didn’t know was coming would be horrifying.
Nice video Marcus. I sort of wish you put in the trip out over the water and back in the video. Looks like it was a little over 1.2 miles out over the water. Sometimes going to your POI is just as good. I can't imagine a trip like this via drone was possible that long ago. The battery and technology wasn't mature enough.
Great piece of coastline, interesting lighthouse like something out of a horror movie even. That Air 3 just keeps on going, DJI trying to temp me with ads for that DJI Cellular Dongle 2 for it although I guess there may not be much signal out there on coast at least there is poor signal on coast here in UK, have to see some reviews on that although the dongle itself is not pricy so may buy it. Good that your flying in interesting places.
