Great flying and great video. That shot at 9:20 was epic. I live six miles away. I'm so glad that Red Rock (it's singular) is drone friendly. In the years that I've been flying there, the only time that a Ranger ever approached me about my drone was because he wanted to know more about it. He told me that the Rangers would love to be equipped with drones for SAR purposes. As far as the geology, the Red Rock Visitor Center has some tremendous exhibits that explain it very well. They also have a lot of information about the plants, the wildlife, and the history of the area. It's for good reason that the Red Rock National Conservation Area is the most visited NCA in the country, with more than 3.5 million visitors per year. It's also a mecca for rock climbing, rappelling, and bouldering. One caution for drone pilots: Keep your head on a swivel. There are constant tour helicopters there, and many fly below 400 feet to give their passengers a thrill. I've also seen some cowboy pilots in small planes flying below 400 feet a few times. And above all, watch out for helicopters doing Search and Rescue work.
Thanks for it very nice corner to fly I got mine 3 days ago fantastic drone compare with my mini 3 by far so accurace RTH I can't believe it make a turn 180 degree before landing complete ready to fly again wow wow have a nice day Marcus don't stop doing videos
You always have to keep an eye out for rescue helicopters out there. There are cool geoglyphs out in that Valley. My "Searching " vid shows one of the ancient ones.
Beautiful flight Marcus thru the Red Rocks. The camera's that DJI use in the Air 3 S, and the one used in my mini 4 pro. do an amazing job to give us great photographic views. Always enjoy your flights, you always have something to share with us.
Greetings my friend Marcus 👋🙂. Wow love those Red rocks and those amazing rock formations 💯👍😁. Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. A fantastic flight. Thank you so very much Marcus 👋 My friend for sharing this wonderful video and God bless you and your family always 🙏. Have a great week.
Stunning video. So relaxing watching your videos. I remember that Billie Kyle video. He actually lives about 5 miles from me and he has some great videos too.
Love your videos. Just wondering if in one of your future videos, you might discuss the 400 ft flight limit for recreational drones. I have been under the impression that the 400 ft is AGL not 400 ft above the takeoff area. Please comment.
Wonderful views of the Red Rocks, great flight and footage. It's hard to beat the video quality coming out of the Air 3s. I'm sorry I didn't get out there to see them. Thanks for sharing Marcus.
Just out there on Halloween and flew the Mini 4 Pro in the same parking lot!!. Had a Sightseeing helicopter buzz me while I was there and had to lower the drone till it made its pass.
To be astute, Marcus...The mountains in the Red Rock region are: Spring, Rainbow, La Madre, White, Harris Griffith, Indecision, Panamint, Sheep, and Gass. (I'm leaving the last one alone)
Marcus, I thought you can fly over the 4 hundred feet mark if there's an obstacles in the way to an 800 feet mark? I could be mistaken but I thought we can do that. It's an awesome place to fly for sure. The first chance I get to go there I'm definitely taking my drones for sure. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Red Rocks was so cool. I got a good parallax shot that was very cool. Although it was 102 that morning and I couldn't fly long but it was fun. The camera on that drone is incredible. If I hadn't just got the Mini 4 Pro the Air 3S would be mine. Very nice shots my friend.
The relevant rules under Part 107 are summarized within Section 107.51. This section is entitled “Operating limitations for small unmanned aircraft” and contains a set of limits associated with speed, altitude, and visibility. Pertaining to altitude, item B of the Section states that: “The altitude of the small unmanned aircraft cannot be higher than 400 feet above ground level unless the small unmanned aircraft is (1) flown within a 400-foot radius of a structure, and (2) does not fly higher than 400 feet above the structure’s immediate uppermost limit.”
Hi Marcus, I just wonder how you fly smoothly with your drone !! Top pilot !! 👍🏼 Anyway, can you share what expo setting did I you use with the air 3s ? Thank you !!
Hi Marcus, a very nice video showing the red rocks, thanks for sharing. Is this your first flight not using the metric system? It's about time you adopted the imperial system. vbg
Why couldn't you fly to 400 AGL with the contour of the Red Rock? Is there an altitude limit there? One of my sisters lives in Vegas . . . time for a visit so I can fly this place. Thanks for sharing. Like #184
If you are a 107 pilot, you should be able to fly above the 400 foot limit to go over the red mountains. If you are within 400 foot vertical distance from the mountain, you can fly up to 400 foot above the mountain. I’m assuming you are in class G airspace.
So I purchased the Air 3 at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. I just decided that I'd rather have the Air 3s so I just placed my order on the DJI website. Hopefully it clears customs and arrives in time for me to be able to return the Air 3 back to Best Buy. If not, I guess I will have to cancel the order with DJI for the 3s. I called customer service and DJI said that it will definitely be shipping from China. Has anyone had any luck getting their 3s quickly...or had any issues with customs?
@@IdahoQuadcopter I can't believe it but my Air 3s spent more time at Customs in China than it did in the US. The UPS website says it will be delivered Monday, but I called my local UPS hub and and they said it should be there tomorrow and I can come and pick it up if I wanted to. So happy everything went so fast!!
Absolutely stunning wish we had places like that where I live in UK
Thank you, it is a great place to fly!
It's was recorded 4K 60 FPS!! The higher FPS makes for such smooth video. Looks great Marcus.
Yes, it was 4K 60 fps.
Those rocks would look absolutely amazing around sunset or sunrise. those shadow would really accent things.
Oh I see, you're one of those golden hour fliers huh? 😂 Thank you Lauren!

What a beautiful place to fly. Thanks for sharing and I wish I could have been there.
I hope to see you there next year Greg! 🙂

Awesome flight, Marcus. One of your best. Beautiful area to fly for sure.
Thank you very much Capt. Ray!

I'm sure there are plenty of tour helicopters too. 👍
@IdahoQuadcopter yeah, but they are always high enough that it isn't a problem.

It is my pleasure John! Thank you my friend!
Just out there on Halloween and flew the Mini 4 Pro in the same parking lot!!. Had a Sightseeing helicopter buzz me while I was there and had to lower the drone till it made its pass.
Yes, I saw several aircraft while flying there. Fortunately they were all up over 1000 ft.
Great flight and great seeing the professional pilots in action
It was fun to fly with other professional drone pilots! We missed you at the meetup Eddie! 🙂
Nice flight. Looking forward to heading west next year.
Thank you, it’s a great place to fly!
your scenic videos never cease to amaze me.... looking forward to the follow ups...thank you....I have got to get me a DJI drone.

Thank you for your knowledge and for showing us around Tom! It was a fun day!
thank u marcus lovey place be only way goin see your drone vids
It was a great place to fly Johnny!
Since the max altitude is 400 AGL, can't you fly over the top of the rock formations? That would be the ground level of the drone. Love the videos!
Thank you! You are correct, the rule is 400 ft AGL. 👍

It was a lot of fun and a great flight. 👍
Man I wish I could join you all one time with the Autel Evo Lite Plus drone. I'm in Tampa FL. We don't have all this 😢😢😢.
Florida has some wonderful places to fly. 👍
@IdahoQuadcopter yes we do i have plenty of footage to prove it. But we don't have mountains lmao
Hi Marcus, I just wonder how you fly smoothly with your drone !! Top pilot !! 👍🏼
Anyway, can you share what expo setting did I you use with the air 3s ? Thank you !!
Thank you! My Air 3S is still on factory setting! 🙂
Can't you go over 400 as long as its above the ridge? Or the ground below the drone?
You are correct, the rule is 400 ft AGL. 👍
Hey Marcus! 👈🥸🫴 Yes you can fly 400ft above the rocks.FAA Rules. Cheers, Brendan
Yes, that is true Brendan. 🙂

Yes, 400 feet AGL is correct.
Que piedras más tímidas si las miras se ponen coloradas 🤭🤭🤭
Ha! Yes, they are red!
So the3 s max alt is 400 not1600 plus I take it
No, it is how I had mine set in the menu.
Is it normal video mode?
As normal as I could get it.
Do you need FAA and park permission to fly at Red Rock?
No permissions needed, it's class G airspace.

Thank you, one of the fly apps says no-fly zone, but the park website says it’s okay, so thanks, as I live near red rock. Btw… great video!

@IdahoQuadcopter I was reading a bunch of the comments and lots of people were questioning that. Nice video btw!
How do you like your SANTA CRUZ ?
It's a nice rig. The secret compartment in the bed is a great place to keep your drone. 🙂
