Starship SN11 launch and explosion debris slowmo / binaural sound

- Listen to the sounds of liftoff then hear the explosion and see debris fall from thick fog! Wear headphones but also ... booms warning.
Multiple-highspeed cameras and binaural microphones were in place capturing the aftermath of rocket pieces returning to Earth. I can't believe that the cameras didn't get crushed! At the same time the human crew was squinting into the fog hoping for any kind of view from Isla Blanca beach and @EverydayAstronaut MARS [Studio B]. Just because we couldn't see SpaceX Starship SN11, doesn't mean we can't experience it.

Apologies everyone, this weather must have originated in Copenhagen. Apart from the heavy 🚀 rain, of course.
The super heavy rain
I thought it was from Vandenberg
I love watching your videos! Those fuel injectors were awesome looking. Can't wait for the tests!
@@aaronhess Thank you! Just one more day before the tests' stream. 🔥
The last time NASA launched in soup like that the rocket got struck by triggered lightning (Apollo 12)
Yep. THE best footage from the day. Frankly... about the only footage from the day worth really digesting. Amazing shots of the debris falling. Thanks for what you do Cosmic Perspective crew!
Thanks Marcus!
Headphones highly recommended for the spatial audio experience. Also premiers are limited to HD only, so after please watch again in 4k! This footage is crazy, I can't believe all our equipment (minus a little of the infrastructure stand) survived the blast and rocket rain.
It didn't damage any of your camera's right?
"Rocket Rain?" -- That's a interesting and apt term
Are you a member of your own channel?
Watched it a second time with headphones. Felt like it was raining rocket guts all around my head! Awesomesauce!
@@learnitall3078 No damage thankfully. Just the rig stand got a little beat up
At 4:10, you can see the first two Raptors fall behind Starhopper, followed by a brief orange flash and a plume of smoke.
Good catch
Just after it looks like Starhopper got a glancing blow too.
@@TheSadButMadLad Yup. Star Hopper lost its radar antenna and sprung a leak.
a few seconds later one lands in front of Starhopper 4:12
At 4:17 Hoppy took a hit :O
The sound of the engines is amazing! can't imagine how loud 28 raptor engines is gonna be!
I can't even begin to image. Brainstem = broken
Perceived loudness scales as the logarithm of the stimulus, so the effect would be about three, rather than nine, times greater - still it will be impressive.
@@Richard.Holmquist + there will most likely be a sound suppression system
Thank God. This channel was my last hope for some footage
I wouldn't get your hopes up
footage delivered. Odin be praised
In fact if your looking for a video of SN11 exploding/flying, I can tell you that you will be disappointed. Nobody got any good video, except for maybe SpaceX as they have a couple of cameras super close that might have been able to see something. The best we are going to get here is the sky flashing orange for a second a loud bang and then debris falling from the sky
@@Pcat0 they may even have full footage from on-board camera
@@CosmicPerspective No, may all the glory be yours!
Sucks for Starship, but damn this footage and sound is amazing. And while an explosion in the clear sky would have for sure looked cool as well, I still think that the debris raining in the fog is so much more cinematic. Could very well be the final scene of a horror movie.
What an awesome video for such a memorable day! Thank you very much !
What is memorable about it? We hardly saw anything of it
Tu nous avais pas parlé de cette passion pour le spatial !
tiens tiens, des bagnoles, du rock'n Roll, et des fusées !
This! Tim was so down about it being in fog and all but I thought this was an epic day in the end, something that will add to the SpaceX lore.
What ? Toi içi ? Il manquerait plus que Vilebrequin et la Boiserie Mdrr
All of it was nuts, but I think the craziest part to me was the piece of sheet metal at the end that look like it came down fairly "gently" (relative to everything else) in front of the camera, and stuck into the ground standing up! Glad everyone's equipment was okay, and everyone was safe!
Time to slice and dice 😂
That sound from the one piece of debris at 3:45 is one of the most epic sounds I've ever heard. Just the impact of it all.
These are so impressive and haunting images - man made pieces raining out of the fog - no sci-fi movie could have done it better. Thanks for your efforts
After watching every Cosmic Perspective video, "It's beautiful, I've looked at this for five hours now."
Thanks friend
The binaural audio sounds amazing!. Great video!
Thanks!
I love the bird’s evasive manoeuvre at 4:11
Ikr
That sound, the spatial sense of where each piece of debris hit the earth... fantastic!!!
Thanks. With so many impacts it was a little challenge to find the right sync points
@@CosmicPerspective well you guys did a superlative job. An aural spectacle!
Love the staggered cracks of the Raptors coming to life on launch.
That audio...holy shit. The Big Booster is gonna SCREAM.
I genuinely can't comprehend what Super Heavy with all engines going will be like. It's going to be actually cataclysmic.
This is the most amazing experience I ever had in a UA-cam video! The sound just blows you away!
and if you was actually there you would be blown away
1:12 when this poor little roadside lamp thinks it's midnight and tries to light in a hurry 😂
(it's a subject for Technology Connections lol)
Ah, Good observation
Just perfect. Airpods Pro went nuts. Thankx a lot. Cheers from Czech Republic.
That's why we have exclusion zones folks. Beautiful coverage as always Cosmic peeps
By far the best video of sn11s raining debris
Wow, at moments like this you realise how dangerous this launches actually are.
With headphones, I had to get under my desk when I heard the explosions.
Holy shit...
That was intense. Glad the gear survived!
No cameras were destroyed in the making of this video. Great work, folks.
i think many on board cameras were destroyed
The whole thing has a creepy surreal vibe to it.
Definitely surreal
6:23 Raptor smashes a hole in the road. Amazing footage.
I thought the Raptors were over the fence and left of Starhopper?
The silhouette sure looks like it could be one of the raptors and it makes a beefy thud when it lands. I believe it's at least the two other raptors falling behind Starhopper at 4:10, still at terminal velocity.
@@takokick Looking at the pics from RGV's footage all three Raptors including the thrust puck were close to each other located behind the fence. The big thing falling is a part of the skirt with one landing leg still attached.
@@garbon1450 I had that impression also, but then again it requires a bit of imagination to distinguish all three raptors in the aerial photo. I wish there were better pictures of the hunk on the road also.
@@takokick Yep, the Raptors came in like a meteor right behind Starhopper with a small explosion.
4:08 you can clearly see an explosion from the methane header tank as it crashes down next to the landing pad
I think that might have been from the other two raptor engines, since they landed very close to Starhopper in about that location. I could be wrong though.
I’m baffled this video only has 156k views. It’s like the fog blocked the YT algorithm.
2 years later this is still one of my favorite videos of all time.
RIP SN11
Thanks Zack! 🙏
One of the most interesting SpaceX EXPLOSIONS! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Listened to this with headphones. Freaked out at 0:38 when Tim started talking. Thought he was in the room with me! 😆 Rock on Cosmic Perspective!
That gave me goosebumps
3:44 was just perfect
Sound quality is out standing , great production shame about the fog , glad the camera gear survived , roll on sn15
Roll on SpaceX
The audio 👌 Fantastic! Please continue with the same setup for coming launches. And photo? Stellar!
Yep, still cams were there but other than a few debris catches it was just fog
6:48
Sn11 gave hopper a hug as his last goodbye :(
That boom is so epic woooooow
Hollywood is just now trying to figure out how many films they can use this awesome footage in.
The Audience is listening. Thank You Cosmic Perspective.
Glad to know you at least caught something. Can't wait to see it
THE AUDIO IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SpaceX: Lets build all of our important shit right next to the landing pad, shouldn't be a problem
SN11: 😂
Well done! I got goosebumps while watching and listening. Best coverage of SN11 I've seen!
Jeez, can't believe your equipment survived. Freakin awesome as usual. Thanks for doing what you do
WOW ... Close call for your cameras! GREAT footage!
We got lucky with no damage. Thanks for the comment
I had my headphones cranked up on this one! Fantastic sound and visuals. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The sound of everything crashing to the ground made this video. It's too bad the fog covered up the explosion, but man, seeing all that debris and hearing it crashing all around was amazing. Thank you so much for this video and I'm SO glad your equipment all survived!
I'll be coming back here for years to watch this one. Well done!
Incredible footage, as always!
Really happy to see you collaborating with Tim! This whole project is amazing :)
Really grateful to be teaming up for coverage... and to be able to bring these Starship views to the world live
This sounds so cool in surround sound
Ya know... with all the excellent coverage be it cosmic perspective's audio or nasaspaceflights construction progress and many more ... there is going to be one heck of a documentary one day
Fantastic does not begin to describe this!
You guys are sure this isn't a movie scene? Lol the quality is Immaculate as always
amazing raptor sound on take off, so sad ending, poor poor,,,,, SN-11
thanks for all the hard work bringing the public through this historic journey!
Even though this test vehicle blew up, this video brings me chills watching this video makes me feel like I’m fifty years in the future. I can not wait for an orbital launch video
Sorry for my language but F**k everyone who was hating on other streamers for “taking labs spot”. I am sooo grateful those other cams were there. Especially now I have seen this angle. This is absolutely amazing....I would love to hear the sounds of the fuel farm during the hour before the launch from this microphone.
Keep it up guys. Hands down the best footage of this event.
Watching this (again!), its amazing that your cameras escaped without a direct hit. Lovely production on the video, as always. Oh, and +1 Patreon too :)
Thanks so much Steve, really appreciate it
Awesome job guys!
Thanks!
It's like Tremors in space.
Love those movies
Memo, huge tanks of methalox may be a little.. excessive.
Such an awesome production , someone here is very talented .
🙏
This is a truly mesmerizing video. Stunning job!
Rest in pieces and thanks for the knowledge learned, SN11.
Haha, John Insprucker's commentary is flawless - I would only add his 'Starship 11 is not coming back, don't wait for the landing..' at the very end of this video.
ps. Excellent job, guys! Happy you retrieved your gear even though a huge chunk of Starship landed just between your and LabPadre cameras!
This is so crazy to watch, especially from 3:30 to 4:40 minutes in the video... I have never ever seen anything like this.... it's a monster rain of steel from above... just crazy !!
Thats amazing, still can't believe Hoppy survived! The debris looked so close
Finally a video of SN11 that was more than a white screen, and the sound was awesome. I hope none of the cameras were damaged. I saw some rocking, but assume it was vibrations through the ground from nearby hits.
Thanks! Yes, cameras lived. The shake was from debris that hit guy wires stabilizing our platform, luckily no direct hit.
Everyday Astronaut is such a Drama Queen.
Always excelling, even in a foggy day! Thanks Ryan and MaryLiz!
He will never give up
Most people don't realize this and set their expectations too high
Brilliant experience! Could be part of a tribute to StarHopper surviving all the explosions around its shiny head, perhaps to the tunes of “I’m still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah!”
Where do these people who come out of the woodwork from all walks of life and do incredible documentaries worthy of major awards come from? Just fantastic work there. Thanks for recording history.
Thanks for this awesome „shortfilm“.
A totally different mood than the other rocket launches.
4:19 Half of a methane header tank landing on the left.
Awesome footage!
This is the SN11 video I was waiting for!!! Awesome job as always!
Real Steel Rain! A wonderful dangerous show - thank You!
3:56 I love that sound of a falling sheet of metal
It is possible to hear all of those sounds in movies/games, but not the sound of a sheet of metal, this one is special.
Absolutely stunning video and audio as usual. We are lucky to have Cosmic Perspective out there.
Superb!
WOW you guys are awesome. The cinematic touch kept the exact feelings when SN11 went kaboom.
That palm tree has seen things, man...
wow. just wow... i'm speechless. incredible video thank you
you guys are mindblowingly good at this. love it
Cool, that was terrifying. Awesome footage
I have no idea why you have this amount of subscribers you deserve so much more. There is no words to describe the quality of your work. Thank you and keep it up
This fog brings so much drama to the scene.
As sad as this landing failure is, this will remain one of the most memorable episodes of Starship development.
its going to be very good
really nice work with top audio and video quality.
thank you
Thanks for the comment 👍
Higher level of production quality! Thank you.
What an outstandingly excellent video! I am completely shocked at how many subtleties and details you can hear and see in this video. I cannot wait to see more, 10/10
Great audio. The sound of the crash off to the right makes me jump every time.
Absolutely stunning and sad footage - but finally John made me laugh!
This is the best footage I've seen of the RUD! The sound of raining debris was wild 🤯 Thank you for the work you all do!
This rain of SN11 is really sad and also dangerous
Amazing production quality! Those sounds are incredible.
Wow. Unbelievably happy to see that a) the gear survived and b) you still got some unbelievable footage (and unreal audio) despite the fog! I thought you were calmness personified on Tim's livestream while he was mid-meltdown (understandably), no idea how you maintained that given the value of the gear that was out there enjoying the 'Western Front 1918' experience...
Great craft in that storytelling. Great audio is so under rated.
Jesus CHRIST, the sound of that debris slamming into the ground! Bloody 'eck!
As the great Michael Baylor once said, "Starship development and testing is grade A entertainment".
Phenomenal job on bringing out the Cosmic Perspective with the music. Always a blessing
