This was so incredibly well produced it felt like a short movie rather than a long animation. I had goosebumps almost the whole time watching this, and even got a bit emotional at the end. Watching Starship evolve from a flying grainsilo to the monster it is today has been one of the best experiences of my life. I still vividly remember watching in awe as Starhopper hovered in the sky, watching the Labpadre stream as MK1’s top blew off, seeing how SN1 and SN3 folded under the sheer pressure of the Nitrogen inside them, and feeling absolute shock as SN4 experienced its RUD. The stress when SN8 was just 1 pressure disk away from disaster. And then the absolute exhilaration as it finally took to the skies, performed a belly flop and managed to right itself and relight its engines before smashing into the ground in a ball of fire. I actually shouted encouragement at it through my screen as it climbed ever higher. Then a few months later SN9 met its end after a beautiful flight, leaning to the very end. I couldn’t believe my eyes when the dust cleared and SN10 stood tall on the landing path a few months after that. I could believe them even less when it exploded anyway just minutes later. I remember how disappointed we all were when SN11 disintegrated in the mist. And then finally, the sheer excitement for the future, for spaceflight, for humanity i felt when SN15 stuck its landing. I was lost for words when SN20 and BN4 finally met eachother on the OLM, after watching them both aswell as the tower and the pad being built from scratch. Ever since then, i’ve been anticipating that first orbital flight. It always seemed just months away. But then B4S20 was retired, and along came B7S24. I saw that booster almost collapse when its downcommer failed, and then again as the air under it blew up. Just left STARBASE this past week to see Starship 24 had just been transported to OLP and Super Heavy 7 was sitting there waiting to be topped off. It was a beautiful sight knowing all the 24/7 work the Space X team has put into this for years and we are almost ready to fly. Then this animation comes out. It moved me to tears!
Good for the next launch attempt ? That Super Heavy launch 4/20/2023 was a catastrophic failure in a few ways. The booster was to have All engines running the whole boost phase . The compete stack was not to turn sideways at the end of boost. The Starship was to operate like you saw here. Space X is in serious trouble after this disaster.

I was surprised that they didn't depict a fully successful mission. I actually kinda like that though, because it still shows all flight states that we haven't seen yet (we've seen starship land irl) and it's a little more realistic for a first test flight. Very well done!!
@@davidbkelly I'm fairly certain they intend to attempt to soft land the ship in the ocean, which means surviving reentry and doing the flip maneuver, but it would probably break up when it falls over in the water. This clearly shows an RUD when the flap fails. (Not a RPD rapid planned disassembly)

There is so much detail! After watching this 4 times, I noticed that during the boostback burn, one engine fails to ignite. Incredible
What an epic 20 minutes. Thanks to everyone involved in creating this! Very excited to live it for real very soon.
I love the sad yet triumphant music when it showed the pieces falling through the atmosphere. Starship is my favourite rocket and I can’t wait to see it in full swing. Amazing work to all the animators that bring us such amazing renders
Loved the plot twist 😂
Great work all, this stuff is not easy! The visuals were insanely detailed and well-worth the wait. Thanks for sharing this masterpiece and can’t wait to see how it compares to the actual first flight!
Well, Musk has said that while they are fairly confident of Starship reaching orbit on the first attempt, they expect it to take multiple attempts for a successful re-entry and soft water landing.
@@steveaustin2686 And that without talking about REUSE.
@@francocastilloAR While reuse is great, it is not the end all, be all of spaceflight. There are drawbacks to reuse.
@@steveaustin2686 That's why I say. It will take many flights to be able to reuse.
@@francocastilloAR Well SpaceX is planning on expending some of the Starships, since they have at least one of them without TPS or flaps. The even expend some of the Falcon 9 boosters when the payload/orbit demand it. It is not unlikely that SpaceX will take some number of years to get Starship to the point of a once a week or less launch cadence, like the Falcon 9 now.
This is a masters pice.Imagine with how much nostalgia we will look again on this video in a few years when starship launches will be so frecuent as Falcon 9. The emotion of this animation is on very high levels(especiali the booster re-entry/catch and of course the sad destruction of S24 the first from her kind)
Musk has said that they are fairly confident that Starship will reach orbit, but expect it to take multiple attempts for a successful reentry and soft water landing. So expect a RUD.
THE PROHPESY BECAME TRUE!!!!!!
WOW WOW WOW... can't wait to see the real thing happen on Monday!
Shared this with my mom, she’s going to show her 5th grade class. She has had them super interested in starship since their space unit. This video made me tear up out of pure passion. Great job to everyone involved and go Spacex! Cannot wait for this upcoming launch.
now that’s a good teacher. I wish my teachers would actually teach us more in depth about space and science. Instead of learning about rockets and cool stuff like that in fifth grade, we learned the order of the planets instead.
now have her show them the launch
@@garbage6577 Yes. An average teacher (my experience) shows the class a png of a falcon heavy and says "This is a rocket", and moves on and teaches about asteroids for the 4584693th time.
La mejor animación que eh visto de la Starship, con mucha dedicación y cariño, muy emocionante
I love that between 17:13 - 17:53 when this video was posted, it was mimicking actual reality almost in sync! (except S24 in reality, and night) In mere days and weeks from this comment we get to see the remainder in real life!!! Like we're not already so excited for this launch, this video has really amped it up and just a perfect landing in regards to timing it's release, bravo to all involved and thank you.
We're so close to history! 🚀 Thank you SpaceX 🌠🥳🥳🥳
The music is impeccable, teared up as ship24 broke apart like bro wtf? Haha really impressive all round!
10:47 ift5 caught the booster!!!!
This is definitely one of the best starship animation I have ever seen. Really excited to see all this play out!
This is amazing, Ryan! Thanks so much for putting so much work into this! You've done an amazing job visualizing what OFT day will be like!
Great work by the entire team!!!
Your Breathtaking as Keanu Reeves would say your making history with what you do daily with your channel its freaking amazing to watch!!!
Brilliant hairs standing up. can't wait
OTD 1 Year ago, one of the best Starship Animation was released. 🎉 :)
Beat me to it by one minute!
Seriously though, OFT has to be one of the best animations of Starship out there.
@@stevengaming3689 Yes Indeed. I got noticed on my calendar app 10 minutes before it was gonna be 1 year.
Was für eine geile Animation! WOW....Guten Flug Starship!!!! Ich drücke die Daumen!
The breakup reminded me of the Columbia, so it was pretty sad, but this is exactly why we make unmanned tests!
Great artistic choices all around the video!
Omg speechless! That was some incredible work! I was crying my eyes out the whole time!
To the moon and mars guys!!
The detail is extraordinary and the effort put in to this project is truly amazing!!!
Truly the best animation i have ever seen!
Wait... What? This videos is over 1 years ago? I thought it just few months ago... Time flies fast just like starship development...
I mean the upper fin was still burned through in IFT-5😐
But they managed to catch the booster!!! Well done SpaceX
Badass trailer. Can't wait!
God this is the best animation I’ve ever seen. As a huge space head I thank you so much
These animations are just excellent, and that hoodie or shirt/jacket... "In Thrust We Trust" Yeah, that should totally be on someone's merch store. It will probably sell out in minutes. Imagine seeing Everday Astronauts' next Starbase tour video with Elon and having Elon wearing that shirt.
I love it when a typo results in out-of-place rudeness!
Another example would be when trying to sign off emails with "Regards," but your finger hits just above the 'G' key.
@@peterford5408 oops just noticed i missed the R. Lol.
Cried the entire time. This captured what is so inspiring about space flight.
the fact that they animated it so there was still fuel in the superheavy for boostback and landing is some amazing attention to detail
Just WOW... thank you to all involved!!! Never thought I'd have leaky eyes from this, but I do!
Me too
AMAZING!
That ending.....
Thank you, sir, for a great render! I can't wait to see this for real soon.
May i know why you left?
Literally, they are working on 24/7, 24/7
OMG this was amazing, goosebumps everywhere. that ending was magical.
Holy cow - tell me I'm not the only one who cried at 16:26?!
As close to the real thing as the real thing- outstanding
Bro I deadass got sad 😭
@@parislikeslinerslong live S24 ❤
Both animation and real test were amazing! Now just rename this video to O.F.T #2 and we're good to go for next launch attempt

@@squidwardfromua ☠
@@mikewallace8087 mate, the Starship that flown are intended for testing purposes (Max Q and etc), failure of some system are to be expected anytime, plus its an older model, the newer variant has alot of upgrade and are waiting to be launched, no rocket are perfect, not everything is perfect in one go, just look at the Falcon 1 or the Ship testing, it took them 5 tries to finally land the ship without exploding, and no, they're not in a big trouble
Side note: it has 33 engine so if some engine fails it still capable of continuing the flight, this also applied to Saturn V rocket
@@mikewallace8087 🤡🤡🤡
This video is 1 year old today! So many things right for something made before any launch... now heading in to IFT-4! good lucky starship!
And this thing flew today...
The flight was short but very exciting!
Good luck to whatever ship will fly next
D.K. Space X just lost billions $ with that disaster today. There will be no attempt for a long time.
@@mikewallace8087 my source is that I made it the fuck up!

2 boosters waiting in line, next flight in a couple months. NASA spent over 20 billion and almost 3 decades to develop and launch one single-use SLS.
Epically awesome! The honorable nod to the hard workers at SpaceX building the world's future in space exploration was on point.
Amazing spectacle. I really enjoyed the musical score as well.
Yeah that score... That was a TON of fun to write.
Incredible sound design to go along with the obviously stunning graphics. It really set the whole stage.
This was the most beautiful animation I've ever seen in 43 years of life. Please don't go anywhere and please continue to produce beautiful art as you did with this masterpiece. Much respect! From Batesville, IN.
You should watch borrowed time short film. I would say it tops this, but only barely. This truly deserves an academy animated short film nomination, and I mean that. No hyperbole.
@@ilearnedsomethingnewtoday6193 You'd be right, more of a ballistic than hyperbolic trajectory. :)
18:02 All we are missing here for Booster 9……. IS A HOT STAGE RING!!!!!!!!!!!!
The animation is spectacular and Ryer's score really brought it home for me.
:)
😮 goosebumps. can’t wait to watch this masterpiece. in thrust we trust 🚀
Someone needs to come out with that tee shirt like yesterday!
Amazing Work to everyone who took part in this. You're inspiring others and keeping the hype going. We salute you.. We love you
I love it. Excitement, disaster, hope. Even a post credit scene. Oscar Oscar.
This is the most important effort in my lifetime, and I watched the first moon landing when I was 6 years old. SpaceX will give us access to the moon, and the solar system. I thank Elon and all of the incredibly hard working SpaceX team for making all of this possible. And thank you to Ryan Hansen Space for the amazing work it took to create this. Well done.
Amazing stuff. Those moments from 4 minutes onward give me goosebumps, making me hyped for the real thing. We know Starship will likely go into the history books forever. It's a special moment in history, and I'm glad there is this huge community that formed around SpaceX's absurdly fast pace and transparency of development, able to capture our excitement and hopes and dreams for this new era of spaceflight.
I was surprised that they didn't depict a fully successful mission. I actually kinda like that though, because it still shows all flight states that we haven't seen yet (we've seen starship land irl) and it's a little more realistic for a first test flight. Very well done!!
It is in the plans to ocean crash the first Starship but attempt to land the booster.
@@nathanaelvetters2684 The "flaps" so far have not failed.
@@francocastilloAR It's much easier to fail when engulfed in burning hot plasma. Flaps and tiles have not been tested at those speeds.
