  • I just traveled back in time! This is Kolkata, or Calcutta until 2001 - the second largest city of India and capital of West Bengal. It was also a capital of British Raj (1858-1911).
First, I briefly introduce the main landmarks in the city, such as Victoria Memorial, Prinsep Ghat, B.B.D. Bagh area with its British colonial legacy. There is also a famous and oldest in India cricket stadium Eden Gardens, where I was lucky enough to talk to a fans of upcoming game between Kolkata Night Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Later, I have also explored Park Street, which used to be a famous nightclub and jazz place among British, then visited intellectual heart of the city at College Street with Kolkata University and Indian Coffee House, had a tram ride by the oldest tram system in Asia, followed by exploration of Chinatown and other ethnic neighborhoods, where Armenians and Jews used to live!
All this makes Kolkata really unique and special place in India, where lots of Hindustan Ambassador yellow taxis give you Wes Anderson movies vibes all the time!
Enjoy its ample British legacy and very rich history of Calcutta, the former capital of British Raj!

Yes, for sure, thank you for suggestions! Next time when I go to Kolkata (which is just 3.5 hours away from my home) I will go to Sundarbans and then up north to Darjeeling and around. Just need more days next time to see more! 🇮🇳❤

Being an Indian, even I was not this well versed with the history of Kolkata. Thanks for opening my eyes. I had no idea that Armenians were settled in Kolkata even before brits came. This was a surprise for me.

Same, this is interesting part of Kolkata. Chinatown and Cantonese traditional houses also surprised me a lot.

If you are in west bengal, then go to Sundarbans. Thats the only best place w bengal has for you.
And then go to explore 7 sister states and sikkim.
And explore kerela, and forts of maharashtra, whole of rahasthan, salt desert Gujarat, kashmir and Laddakh.
I have given you full travel just go through it. Otherwise there is of no use to come to india from suck long distance.

Thank you for the recommendation and valuable information! I had only 4 days in West Bengal and apart from Kolkata traveled to Ganga Sagar, which is my next video will be about.
I live only 3.5 hours away from Kolkata by flight, so it's not a problem to come there for a weekend.
And indeed, will plan more trips soon, including the places you've mentioned! 👍

@@SoAndrew Okay, the places which I have mentioned, are the speciality of India. India has so much to offer to the world due to its exotic geography.
Indian govt is also responsible that foreigners come to India visit taj mahal, delhi and sometimes few parts pf raj and go back home. Then they India has only this much to offer.
Indian tourism sucks. So you resrarch by yourself to travel to the most beautiful country and most diverse country atleast of asia.
