Gabi I see all blogs of your india visit and I realise that you show only poorest and dirtiest part of india....even in this video you you visited in old Delhi and shows only dirtiest part and when you are at India gate u don't cover that area and yes It is also a matter to see that on one side you did not get the entrance gate in RED FORT and other side i see auto (tuk tuk) was running inside the fort in your video but u don't say anything about this.....this shows your unbiased thing which u want to show about india in your videos 🇮🇳🙏🏿
@@kundanbharti421 Being from the West, we aren't interested in modern-looking cities and their features because they aren't new to us. This is a travel vlog, so it's not showcasing your country's development; that's a different topic.
As a travel video it's going to appeal to what is different for us, and that is the culture and the old cities are the best for that, and for contrast.
We realise and appreciate that India has developed massively and is still developing rapidly particularly in IT and manufacturing. But there's a way to go as well. I hope Modi is still putting proper sewerage systems into the country areas for instance. Nobody finds Indian toilets in the backwaters interesting, so they don't get shown either.
He's not going out of his way to show anything humiliating. He shows modern hotel rooms. But they aren't new to us. The hotels that have older features are the most interesting to us. OK?

Went to India in 2003 and it was a complete shock, noise, smell, people, traffic etc. but once you return to your home country you realise you have changed and never see the world the same way. India changes you for the better!

on my own and of the 50+ countries I have been 2 it's my no1.The area around the railway station in Kolkata is far crazier than anything New Delhi has.India is absolutely fascinating the strangest inexplicable things happen for no apparent reason India changes you.I went with a boatman at dawn on the Ganges in Varanasi, that experience will live with me till the day I die

Can't thank you enough. In 48 hours I will be in Delhi on my first visit to India. I start at the Sun Star Heritage Hotel, move on to Jaipur and then to Agra, Delhi and Up to Jim Corbett National Park before flying home. I particularly liked the look of the Red Fort and Old Delhi. Wish me luck!

A far less chaotic choice and more pleasant - first land in Bangalore, Hyderabad or Chennai or Kochi. Stick to the south , South India was never invaded by a bloody Mongol from Fergana in Uzbekistan whose descendants raped 100 million women. Delhi will leave you with a bad taste in the mouth one really needs to be from this part of the world to realize where NOT to Go. Certainly not Taj Mahal which is built by a rapist invader.

@@ashishp3 I agree I love India it is a good place to retire with savings as SBI gives 6 %interest on fixed deposit, nowhere in Europe or USA you can get that kind of bank service. What I love in India is freedom to live any way you like no one questions you about your clothes or life style so simple life style is beautiful for our warm climate. And of course the variety of foods sweets tropical fruits... Only problem can be adulteration in food stuff and hotels serving foods. And of course I love our temples our culture. But fir young people life is hard in India unless they have political connections or goonda connection to make a living. That's why young Indians try to go out to any country to make a living. As an old man I love India as my needs are so little.

Been 6 times in the 80s. Always started my adventures in Delhi. Would go south along east coast then up the west coast. Then into the mountains. Miss going. Love India. Always felt welcomed. Felt like home. I live on the west coast of Canada, and i just cant handle the plane trip anymore.
This was very entertaining and a great glimpse into Indian culture. I'll be heading there myself soon and I think this was a great video to watch before I did!

I like your videos. I went to India in 1998 and my first port of entry was Delhi airport at 12 midnight. The scale of everything was overwhelming, old Delhi was unreal, the poverty was psychologically scarring. I was overwhelmed to the point where I had to scale back my plan of seeing most of India in one month.
Also I could not deal with the constant scams and filth in the streets.
I went a year earlier and had exactly the same feeling as you, word for word but I landed in Mumbai

Totally relatable. A black guy from my firm often complained (mostly legitimately) about racism etc. everywhere here in the States. At the time in early 2000s, our firm was bringing up an office unit in India, and so they sent him there to India for a few weeks. He came back, completely transformed 😂😂. After returning, he was like "Man, as bad as this (America) is - I feel so blessed to live here. That sh*t [India] was something else". For some reason, it was just hilarious to see his transformation.

I don't know why but many Indians guys feel a horrible embarrassment about recognizing that Delhi is a horrible and chaotic City. One of my acquaintances from India told me that Delhi was as modern and functional as New York. Ridiculous that comparation.

Though i don't live in India but it always amazes me when outsiders visits some of the oldest parts of the city and expect it to be modern and organized. And cherry on top, Most of these vloggers goes to OLD DELHI (which has seen thousands of years of civilization) and mention that as NEW DELHI.

I’ve been to New Delhi & parts of old Delhi. New Delhi is wonderful & modern and generally clean. Yes traffic is crazy. I seriously do not know why these type of vloggers only show the dirtiest, poorest parts of old Delhi and disingenuously pass it of for all of Delhi and I find the same goes for Mumbai, all they show are the slums. It’s so repetitive. There’s a lot more to Delhi and India in general. It’s a mix of ancient & new. Having said that I find that Indian vloggers do a better job and show more interesting places with a lot more information.

The smog in New Delhi reached hazardous levels on Thursday November 3 2022.
Smoke from thousands of plant fires in northern India combined with other pollutants to create a noxious gray silhouette that enveloped the slum city.
The level of the most dangerous particulate matter - PM 2.5, so small that they can enter the bloodstream - was 588 per cubic meter as of Thursday morning, according to monitoring firm IQAir.
These levels are nearly 40 times the daily maximum recommended by the World Health Organization. IQAir rates the overall pollution level as "hazardous".
"This is really the worst time to be out in Delhi. One never wakes up refreshed with this pollution," police officer Hem Raj, 42, told AFP.
In 2020, a Lancet study linked 1.67 million deaths due to air pollution in India.
"There is no doubt who has turned Delhi into a gas chamber," he added.
"I have been here for a long time and the situation is getting worse. We spend 8 to 10 hours on Delhi roads every day and it is difficult because pollution affects everyone," said Brij Lal, 54, another police officer.

Romanticizing poverty is wrong but i do appreciate the resiliency of the indian people. I've seen many videos of india much worse than what i've seen here and my heart goes for every one of them.
India shows how resilient human beings are and how people can be happy even when they don't have much. Makes me realize the issues I face living in a first world country is just my neurotic, never happy mind. I have tremendous respect for the people of India, especially those who live in poverty.
I was a privileged naive 20 y.o. from 🇨🇦 visiting New Delhi in 1980. Culture shock is putting it mildly. I was totally overwhelmed by the sights, smells and sheer numbers of people and animals all sharing the same small space. It was the most fascinating country I ever visited and the adult me would love to return.
Please visit again and see modern sites of Delhi and surrounding cities like gurgaon and noida aerocity of Delhi.

The India of 1980 bears no resemblance to the India of 2022 the economy has grown from $186 billion to 3.4 Trillion. This Gentleman has chosen a really cheap assed part of a very large city so he really CHOSE chaos.
If you come to South India today this will be a very different exp. Most decent hotels in India cost around $75-$100 per night. If you go to cheapest [art of Delhi like Old Delhi you will only encounter chaos. Delhi does have a excellent Metro system(over 200 stations today) and so you really do not need any freaking Rickshaws. I left India in 1988 when I travel its always by Metro or cabs or buses never rickshaws(Tuk-Tuk). Toronto downtown where I live
is also chaotic on a Sunday.

All I really meant was the 20 year old I was in 1980, came from a privileged childhood lived in a nice home in the suburbs, where I knew no poverty, never saw homeless living on streets, never had any issues taking any kind of public transportation, never had to share the road with animals, and everything I experienced was overwhelming to me then.
What an amazing culture. When I watch these videos I always admire how happy the locals are. Whilst in the west we cry over getting the wrong Amazon package.

Ha, yeah man! Delhi is crazy. My 2nd day in India I was walking in Old Delhi and Red Fort, totally not prepared for the insanity but it's a good insanity. So good I went back to India 3 more times and saw Jaipur, Jodhpur, Agra, Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Surat....all the cities are so cool and filled with amazing people and food. LOVE India! I'm American by the way.
This is the reply of a truly intelligent man. Avoid Shithole places in any country - if you see North East India Darjeeling, Gangtok, Dimapur, Guwahati they are very different and a lot cooler and wetter than Delhi.

I was shocked and awed in a similar way when I first came to the US. I went to the times square and just marveled at the sight. It felt like I was in the heart of western civilization. There was no filth, everything was clean. There was no dust, no smoke, no honking noise.

I went to Delhi a few years ago for surgery, but had my last day free so I went to the Lotus Temple (was ok) and then India Gate (awesome!) and finally some museum that had many ancient musical instruments, My taxi driver for the hospital was very entrepreneurial and became my guide. He wasn't the cheapest but he did a great job so I didn't mind paying more than the "typical rate". People before I left for Delhi told me that cows were everywhere but instead dogs were everywhere. Roads were crazy bumpy but in New Delhi (government area) roads were smooth as butter. Well, of course! Only complaint was very spicy food and I cannot eat chili but found a few things I could eat. A unique experience.

Wow. It hasn't changed since I spent several weeks in India in 1995, starting in Delhi and ending up there again several weeks later. I'm a single female and I was in my mid 40's, and traveled with a backpack and Lonely Planet Guide. I went as far south as Kerala and North to Mussoori, and points in between.
Some places are not going to change. They have been that way for hundreds of years. But, what's the fun in visiting modern tech parks and 8-lane highways? We have those too, but you are used to that.

It's changed. Now everything can be done online. Like airline and hotel booking. Many new airports, airlines, beggars are almost gone, all type of cars and electronics available , also online shopping
I was in India last September, New Delhi is too intense on the senses, very loud, very hot but interesting. The India Gate was all closed to visit as there was some important ceremony, we managed to visit Akshardham, but filming was not allowed:( We had the tour to Taj Mahal which was great, but weather was way too hot and I couldn't enjoy the amazing place as much as I wanted. The food is so so great, chicken masala, paneer tika, the shrimps curry and so on, there is no even one thing which I didnt like. Drinking only bottled water is a must, no exceptions, stayed 7 days and no stomach issues. Banlgalore was my other city I visited and the nature there is so much tropical. Would love to go to India again!

I'm glad I had the experience and as usual all around the world there was really good people with a few not so nice.

I was in Dehli in 1995, a single 45 year old American woman traveling alone with a backpack and a Lonely Planet guidebook. I stayed in Chandri Chowk, directly across from the Jama Masjid. It was the start of my 3.5 week India adventure and was a proper introduction to the chaos that is India. Looking at your videos and some others, I see a lot more modern buildings and even big skyscrapers, but the street chaos, the crowds, the poverty, the sidewalk dwellers, the cows/monkeys and dirt are still the same. Still the most insane traffic conditions I've encountered anywhere on earth, and to this day I don't understand why lorries and other vehicles sport lettering that says "Please Use Horn". Indians use the horn instead of brakes.

I was in India in 1994 (I’m from UK). I had work with Sheraton hotels. In Delhi we were offered a car and driver. I had a copy of Lonely Planet, made it my mission to see everything I could; Humayuns tomb, Safdarjang tomb, Qutub Minar..it was all wonderful and unforgettable. Since then I’ve had many trips to the subcontinent, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

I had visited Delhi maybe 20 years back and it wasn't like this but now I am surprised to see it so crowded n chaotic. OMG it's so challenging to visit it again. I enjoyed it very much n I will have to gain my energy to visit it again in future. Though there is no law n order but it's a lively city accommodating so many people. Another fantastic and informative video from Gabi...thank you. After watching it I couldnt believe how both beautiful and yet decrepit ( old Delhi ) India can be. The streets were covered with trash wherever you looked. It must have smelled like a sewer. I cant imagine eating anything in that city. I also got a kick out of seeing the massive wires for telephone and Internet hanging like tangled spaghetti..very interesting to watch, as usual. You are the best Gabi..the BEST.

I went on holiday to India twice in 2003 and 2004. I spent the first two days in New Delhi before moving up to the Himalayas. New Delhi. It's a fascinating city but there's a downside to it. Human waste is a big problem in a city where millions of people have no access to toilets. In the poorest slums, streets serve as open-air toilets, and even in the nicest neighborhoods some street corners, long used as public urinals, can choke passers-by with a fog of urine stench. I personally witnessed many men just pissing on the pavements - there’s cow, dog, cat and goat shit everywhere. Yes, this is New Delhi!

I remember riding a Tuk Tuk (pedal powered) with my family to the Red Fort. It was total insanity....the noise, the odors, heat, was intense.. The tuk tuk drivers were practically in fistfights trying to get us to ride with them...the throng of humanity was unbelievable.

Just to point out that these are not 'tuk tuks'... in India we call them rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. The other vehicles that you may see are called auto-rickshaw or 3-wheeler. 'Tuk Tuk' is the term given in Thailand; not in India. I'd be grateful if everyone could be culturally sensitive.

I think New Delhi is one of the most fascinating places I've ever been. It's huge and even more crowded than NYC. The sounds, smells are an assault on the senses. The highway traffic crawls because donkey carts, camel carts ride alongside cars and trucks. At night, the highway median has people sleeping shoulder to shoulder in places. But I found people quite friendly and helpful. I particularly liked the red fort and the charity bird hospital

I love seeing places like Chandni Chowk. In the movie Rajma Chawal one could see a lot of the old architecture. I visited the Red Fort and Lotus temple (almost burned my feet), ate Langar in the big Gurudwara, have to see Akshardam some time. These new malls are impressive to see in India and worth visiting once for a nice coffee or special meal, but not as interesting as the old places with their old architecture and bustling markets and local food. That lentil omelet looked really good:)

Do you have a plan to visit Kolkata during exploring India? Though You missed the Durga Puja (UNESCO Heritage) but still you will have a lot to explore like St. Paul Cathedral, Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, Botanical Garden, the great Coffee House! and many more.
