Hey im thinking about building this as my first build, is that a good idea? And if you can help me, on the aliexpress website the colors seem off, can you tel me which one you bought? Thanks and really great videos!
Thank you for the great video! The watch looks amazing. I also wanted to ask if Rodico can be used multiple times. How long does it typically last, and how convenient is it to work with?
Good video edit. Please shoot more closeups on wrist in the end. Best part is the outcome, you keep always too short. Thanks for videos, it helped me alot starting watch build hobby.
Awesome video, Jason! I'm going to try and give this a go. Quick question, though. I have an ETA movement from an old watch and, checking the specs, it's almost identical to the NH35A. It's slightly bigger, though (27.6mm width Vs 27.4mm from the NH35A and 5.6mm height Vs 5.32mm). Do you think the case is only big enough for the NH35A or is there some room left for my ETA movement? Thanks!
Thanks! I think the width would be ok, but you may have some issues with the height and crown stem position. But these are just my guesses, it would be cool to try!
Idk what the issue is, but when my hands are installed, the case appears too small?? The hands are actually touching the glass. Did i just get a faulty case??
@ Thank you a lot, I bought a Japanese wave style 28.5mm dial on AliExpress, but I can’t find a case to fit, I already had a Seamaster Diver 300 case, but didn’t work
Thanks mate. The second hand runs independently of the hour and minute hand and can be stoped/started at any time. It really makes no difference whatsoever where the second is placed.
Jb sorry I have another question , don't get angry 😅!! Do you use the small soft spacer ring between the dial and movement? In other videos I see it used and I don't understand if it is necessary or not Thank you for your patience
It's all good! The spacer goes between the case and movement in this build. It really depends on the case weather it is necessary or not, If the movement is loose in the case you will need to use a spacer, they usually supply a spacer if it is required
Whats tips do u use on the pressing machine? I just ordered one because i messed up today with the tools… The Machine includes 9 tips but you use 2 tips? Can u help me out with this? Appreciatie it!
JB, I have to ask you, have you ever been scammed on Ali? I just checked out your new hand press for ~140€, and you're the only person who's bought it? I don't have the same budget as you, but I feel like that's a pretty big gamble especially on Ali. How do you know when a product will arrive intact and good quality? That said, love that new mod!! I'm getting ready for an nh38A tiffany Nautilus mod currently.
I haven't been scammed on Ali as of yet (touch wood) and Ive been making weekly purchases for around 3 years. I have received bad parts before and have always received either replacement parts or refunds. With the hand press, it is a common tool sold on Ali which is most likely the exact same tool that is being sold across the different stores. The store I purchased from is reputable and I have made many purchases from that store in the past which is why I felt comfortable making that purchase. Hope that gives you some insight into using Ali :)
hi I have 2 questions can you make a royal oak without the Seiko logo and is it legal to sell watches with the seiko logo when it is not a real dial and therefore a real seiko mod?
I’m sure there are many options when buying nautilus dials , especially without the seiko logo. It is legal to sell seiko mods, but you would have to disclose that it is a mod
Have you had to break any of the loctite seals? Im wondering if I go to replace the movement in 5-10 years if the crown is going to get stuck to the stem because of the loctite. Or does that not matter because crowns are universally threaded? As in, it's easy to source new crowns in any case.
@@jbwatchmods thanks. I was just now doing some reading on crown/stem assembly and loctite. I found some info regarding not needing loctite if the crown is screwed in properly. Apparently they often are not due to one or two reasons: First is that holding the stem by hand or by pliers doesn't provide enough resistance to connect the stem to the crown properly. The recommended solution is a pin vise. Apparently pliers or side cutters don't work because you would be holding the stem gingerly as to not damage it. The second is that if the snipped end of the stem is not filed in a conical fashion (as opposed to flat across) it can cause problems that result in the crown not staying in place. Apparently it just needs a light filing in the appropriate shape. I'm going to give these recommendations a try before something like loctite. My parts should be arriving sometime this week, I'll try to remember to give you an update as to whether or not my stem feels secure without the loctite using the above methods.
I would say a fake is trying to pass it off as the real thing ie. putting a patek philippe logo on the dial. A homage may look the same, but doesn't claim to be the real thing
Such a nice build. I'm 80% at the point of doing my own build. The hands freak me out, when you set them is there any indication that you know it's been pressed in enough? Or some sort of feedback to know don't smash it into the movement 😂. Your guides are 👌
Thanks mate! The top of the hand will sit flush with the post on the movement, using the right size tip on your hand press ensures you don't push the hand down too far. Once you give it a shot you'll work it out!
ngl your channel has potential. refine it a bit more, get rid of the epic superhero music, make it more subtle, get rid of the background music and be more confident in your commentary, its great. your visuals are great already
Homage xD. Call it what it is.... it's an Ali Express fake watch DIY pack. I get that it's fun assembling it for bragging rights and content but it's still supporting and glorifying the Chinese fake watch industry.

I was waiting for this one!!

Yeah, you can re-use it for ages! Ive had my current bit for about 6 months lol
So awesome! any other high end movement you would recommend please?
All depends on what you want to build!
why don't you put the seconds hand on at 12 too?
great job.
there's always something to learn about watching your videos.
Thank you for sharing all these skills!!
Glad you're getting something out of them!

What is the thickness of the watch?

bro the pointers was not fixed correctlly, you have to fix the hour pointer in the 12h when the date turns.
Idk what the issue is, but when my hands are installed, the case appears too small?? The hands are actually touching the glass. Did i just get a faulty case??
Sounds like you might not have pressed the hands down far enough, or they may be on an upwards angle. Id double-check that first
hola, se podria apretar el reloj con la pelota de apriete
Can i replace this dial for any 28.5mm dial available in Aliexpress?
Needs to be a nautilus style dial because of the shape! Beware some nautilus dials are 30.5mm
@ Thank you a lot, I bought a Japanese wave style 28.5mm dial on AliExpress, but I can’t find a case to fit, I already had a Seamaster Diver 300 case, but didn’t work
@@silverNguns Any sub style or date just case should accept that dial :) The seamaster case most likely uses a 31mm dial
Hi why don’t you set the seconds hand to 12 like the other two regards jeff
Great videos btw

I use the clear nylon tips, and just use the red and silver coloured ones for NH35 movements

What is the name of that "hand press", I would really like to buy that for easier replace of hands on dial :D Great job, again!

Yep! To 100m
Real nice

What movement are you using in your watches?
Ok, you are using the Seiko NH35.
correct
@@jbwatchmods Well, with this movement, the price is reasonable. A good tribute to the legendary designer, Gerald Genta.

Thanks!
