this is actually sucha fantastic idea. Tip for lubricating gaskets (o-rings): most lubricants come with a bit of foam on the lid too, and if you put the gasket in and the lid back on, you can twist the lid so it applies an even coating of lubricant onto the gasket that's not too thick. I do hope you get into building more watches and hopefully repairing them.
When putting on the hand set, I would have kept the crown in the time-setting position so you could align them all at the 12 without them ticking away out from under you like we saw with the seconds hand.

Just a little tip when putting the hands on, when you make your date wheel tick over to 12am i wouldn't push the key less works back in, because the time keeps ticking and when you set your hands to 12 it may be 10 minutes past 12 or however long it took you to put your hands on, happy watch making and very impressive time piece 😊

When you are pushing the movement rod back in the watch after the re assembly press the rod release while putting the rod back it will make the assembly easy or els it might mess the movement for sure ,I believe it have done a number in this movement already as I see. Just a advise, and I love your work
I’ve built and modified a few watches now. For assembling the hands, I found a trick that helped me greatly. I use some rodico to hold the hands and align them, then I can press the hands on. For the seconds hand, I get right down to eye level with the movement where I can see the seconds pinion, then pressing it on becomes much easier.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on *amzwatch* 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
that inflatable ball is really a discovery, I thought the wrench is the only way to go about opening watches and was going to order one. But obviously the ball is gentler option
Thank you so much for this very informative and graphic teaching tool. It's nice to see someone who actually shows how as well as describing it. The only bit of advice I would give you is to test rotate each hand when you put them in. The points can sometimes obstruct the hands and you may need to bend them slightly. Beautiful bespoke watch btw, very impressive.
When you have the dial and hands done, place the case over the watch then flip the movement holder. I've watched some pros do that, and it's worked great for me. Wish you would have shown the watch after it was done. It's a 62 mas style right?

You did a really nice job finding the date shift by turning the crown wheel really slow until date flipped over but after that you push in the crown with that starting the watch and with that distorting the great job done making the minute hand move while setting up hourhand. But othervise, really loved the video! Keep up the good work, I just started to follow your channel!
Don't stick your finger in the gasket lube. Don't place the new gasket on the table. Even if it hasn't been lubed yet tiny particles will contaminate the gasket. Someone already mentioned to use threadlocker on the crown. I'd use blue. I'd also suggest you get Rodico for cleaning specks of dust off the dial, crystal and movement. Nice to see you build a watch. It really needs a chapter ring though. I've built quite a few watches, usually just ideas on what I think would make a nice watch. I only use Seiko branded dials if I'm modifying an actual Seiko. If I'm building one from just parts off AliX I don't like to have Seiko on the dial, even if I'm using a Seiko/SII movement.
Thanks for the tips! I didn’t even know there was such as thing as a chapter ring until after I made this and a couple of folks mentioned it. I might add one.
When you order your movement, the specs should say the size of the hour/minute/second hand posts. This will help you choose the right hand setting tool size. Also, a piece of rodico watch cleaning putty is good for removing dust specs, fingerprints, smudges, and for holding hands without scratching like tweezers can do.
I wish I could take credit for this tip but I saw a video of it. Place a tiny bit of rodico on the end of a hand pusher and pick up the seconds hand from the top of the hand. Now you have nice control of the hand and much easier to place on the pinion. I spent about a half hour on my first seconds hand and about 3 minutes the next time. 👍
What a well made video! I also do these builds, just for friends and it's amazing the attention the watches command as they look like qaulity pieces and feel like it too. I'm about 10 watches built now and im looking at using other platfroms like the NH34GMT and Seagull movements for some veriety
Missing chapter ring. Missing movement spacer to stop the face touching the date wheel. Missing the "fixing" of the face to the movement (normally levers or screws to hold it together) Missing the movement fixings in the rear to secure it in the case. Leave the stem pulled to the "out" position when placing on the hands as the watch is still ticking otherwise. Use rodico to remove specs from face/glass. Use lock-tite on the crown and file down the stem after cutting. Do all that and you've got yourself a fine watch.
absolutely inspiring I think this is my next hobby! so question on these DIY watch builds with automatic movement. When the movement stops working...do you just replace it? My hesitation with any automatic movement is that over time service costs far outpace the value of the watch itself...
Nice video, very informative. I just received parts that I ordered to make a submariner clone and like yours, the dial face I received says "SEIKO" below the 12 o'clock position. That did not show in the listing which is pretty shady if you ask me. I have a problem with that and if I can't somehow hide it in a way that looks good I am going to have to find an alternative. I don't want any visible branding at all. And btw, those are digital calipers you are using, not vernier.

Bit there should be a soft material in the lid you drop the ring in put the lid on and tighten it then you have an even amount all over the ring. some good plastic pointed tweezers come in very handy. There's a brand that sells kits with everything you need to build a watch from scratch with step by step instructions for about $200-300, I haven't tried it but it looks fun
quick question, so ive build my watch aswell and for the stem, do you have to always unscrew it to pull it out and change the time or is there anyway i can always have it screwed in then just pull to change time(like normal watches???????), i keep thinking i made a mistake on that part someone please let me knoww.
@@MarcusCreates Thanks for the reply i really appreciate it. Do you know of any good movements that dont have a date option? im struggling to find some.
I think I just found a new hobbie. A couple of days ago I saw a Seiko that really looked like a Rolex Submariner... that's when I discovered the world of Seiko Mods. To be honest, I still don't have an opinion whether buying a Mod watch that doesn't officially exist with a label in it is a counterfeit or not, so I wondered that if I could assemble a watch myself that would be basically skipping this moral dilemma. But I just thought it would be barely impossible for me to do this, but then this video appeared to me. Now I'm ready to give it a try. 🧐 Thank you!
That silicone oil container has 2 sponges. One on the lid and the other on the bottom. Plop your gasket in, put the top on, and twist the lid a few tines to evenly coat the gasket. Thats what the applicator is for.
It’s not hard to get a watch together, but getting a watch together without any marks or dust on the dial, crystal and hands is Not easy.

Hello!!! Long time watch lover, want to build my own. Can you maybe explain how to make sure sizes are compatible? There are so many dial sizes, cases, etc. How do I make sure the separate pieces I order are compatible? Thanks!
I don’t like how this gentleman roped me into liking and subscribing so easily.😂😂 Great video sir!!
Welcome aboard!
The only thing I wasn't sure of was how you put the second hand on. Did you click it into place?
That's quite interesting!
Super helpful video. Thank you. The watch face link you have there is no longer working. Would love to know a face I could buy for a project like this. Could you please suggest something? Thanks!
amazing work and result! seriously looking into a mas62 as i find its the best looking diver of all time! may i ask what water resistance you can get with this build?
How are you pronouncing Seiko as see-co? I’ve never heard anyone do that.
By the way, with the limited watch knowledge I have. I believe when lubing the gasket, you are supposed to shake it in the lube jar.
That makes sense. I’m used to lubing motorcycle gaskets 😂
Anyone else notice the graphic of the condom at 0:21 😂
👀
Ever since I bought a watch from MAMACOO, My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
this guy is the best his joy is just infectious idk it;s wonderful
I wish to do the same , I bought a Breitling in Chinatown in 2008 it was amazing ,open heart the case was 44 mm and the dial was brushed stainless steel as the whole watch ,too bad I have only a bad picture can't find one similar to mine .
Great video !!!! Can you kindly post links for the parts and tools you used please ? Thanks

@@MarcusCreates I appreciate you replying. However, I don't see a link in the description.
Hey, loved the video, i find the part of cutting the crown a bit hard to do myself, where did you buy that measurement equipment?
It’s just a calipers. You’ll get one for $20 in any hardware store
How do you know when buying pieces that they will fit all together?
Hi Marcus what a good video you made! I would like to know if you have an aliexpress link for the special watch nipper and by the way the link for the watch face doesn't work. Thanx for answering in advance
Just stumbled across your channel i can appreciate a diy lol why buy it when you can build it is my motto 😂 also Mr marcus that last watch you showed with the open back is just incredibly beautiful. If i cant build it Can you build me one. Do a link for all the parts would love to have one of my own
Welcome aboard! I’ll try and put up a list of parts at some point when I get time.
@@MarcusCreates Thank you! Do you have a ig ,?
@@MarcusCreatesThat would be great!
Your creativity to come up with this video was truly amazing. Well done, Marcus!
Now I want my fake DIY rolex too! Haha
You should! It was so much fun. ☺️
There's a brand that sells kits with everything you need to build a watch from scratch with step by step instructions for about $200-300, I haven't tried it but it looks fun
Can you remember what company that was by any chance?
how can we now what parts are compatible? Do you have like a Buy Guide for parts purchase?
That's a cool build. Came out perfect 👌
What pieces did you use to build your Rolex looking one ?
Great video really enjoyed it. Do you have a build list of what and where to purchase parts from?

quick question, so ive build my watch aswell and for the stem, do you have to always unscrew it to pull it out and change the time or is there anyway i can always have it screwed in then just pull to change time(like normal watches???????), i keep thinking i made a mistake on that part someone please let me knoww.
I love watches...and i love to make my own ❤
You gained a subscription! This video is crazy, I expected at least 2 million subs! I've discovered a fellow Johnny Cash fan too!
The link for Seiko Watch Face is fall :(
looks awesome, did it work? the second hand wasn't moving
Great video! Anyone has an idea how the mechanism is performing in the long term? Is it reliable or it is losing seconds ?
Watch faces isn’t available can you link me to one that is? Also would love Seiko
how do you get the watch to work? i can see at the end it's stopped ticking.
I just didn’t have the crown pushed in. It works beautifully. I’m wearing it now.
@@MarcusCreates Thanks for the reply i really appreciate it. Do you know of any good movements that dont have a date option? im struggling to find some.
I’m actually shopping for a dress watch at the moment. 11 o’clock fell off my old one… Very cool post!
Give it a go. I found it to be lots of fun.
The dial repair would be easier than buying a whole new watch.
Should use lock tight on the stem and crown
@@markcoffman494 I’m going to try! My old one was a cheapo Fossil but I’ll take it apart when I have some time :)
@@MarcusCreates this video definitely makes me think I could do it! Well timed :D
Brilliant video man, sending love from Co.Clare
Gwan Ross!!! Thanks buddy
Thank you!
Great looking office/workshop!
Where was the strap that didn't fit from? Arden strap?
That silicone oil container has 2 sponges. One on the lid and the other on the bottom. Plop your gasket in, put the top on, and twist the lid a few tines to evenly coat the gasket. Thats what the applicator is for.
Absolut amazing video. Thanks bro 👏👏👏👏
Glad you liked it!
