Thanks for your videos. Because of you i’ve been able to build two NH35 watches so far. The secondhand installation is by far the most difficult thing on these builds. I found a headset magnifier with 20 X lens is a huge help. I would like to build a skeleton watch next, but I’m not sure how to handle the dial.
11:00 A “true” gmt refers to a watch where the hour hand can be adjusted independently. Sometimes called a traveler gmt. The movement in this video is a “caller” or “office” gmt, because the gmt hand is adjusted rather than the hour hand.
That looks stunning Jason! It's a joy to watch you work and it's always super helpful. I'm planning a gmt build myself but using a GS style case. It'll be my third build but first gmt....as if three hands aren't stressful enough!! 😂 Thanks for another great video 👍
love the root beer concept! i think i may have to build one. as far as the personal branding, i think it's simple and sleek. would have zero issue rocking it on my own wrist. branding on the dial can easily make or break a watch for me and is the fall point of almost every budget manufacturer in my opinion. so kudos for not overdoing it!
gonna drop a second comment for the algorithm. your videography and voiceover is very easy to watch and enjoyable. the ending b roll shots were phenomenal. channel deserves to be on the home page of every person who enjoys wearing a watch.
This looks fantastic man! I do have a question though. I am making a GMT watch for myself at this moment but when I put my movement with the hands in the case it stopped working. I noticed you had the same problem at 13:35 in the video. Hou did you get youre movement working again when it is fitted into the case? Hope you can help me out with this because I don’t know what to do!
Mine stopped because I think the movement ran out of power as it only gave it a few winds. I would say your second hand is sitting too high and hitting the crystal. I would take the movement out and try and bend the hands down to create clearance between the second hand and crystal. This may have a knock on effect and you may need to lower the heights of the other hands as well.. Hope that helps!
Would love to see you tackle a tank build some day. Parts are a bit hard to find but i found some while searching the internet. Currently no vids of tank builds on yt so would definitely be cool to see! Love the vids
I recently bought a Bulova Devil Diver GMT in rose gold & I love it! It’s a completely different case design obviously, but I really like this mod you’ve done here JB!👍🏼😎
How do you print logos onto your dials? Right now I've been using metal print stickers but id love to combine it with the flat printing for a more premium look
branding is cool. I would love to see you build a Day-Date, AP Royal Oak, Daytona and Cartier Santos next, if you've not already I think they would be a great build and would love to see the results !!
The parts listed on the market are overwhelming and for a beginners it's very confusing. A newbie question, does the dial have to always be the same size as the case? What size is used in this video? Thank you
Thats why I link all the parts I use :) The dial needs to suit the case your using, some cases suit a 28.5mm dial, some a 31mm dial. It all depends on the case you're using. This video I use a 28.5mm dial
I’d recommend getting an electric air compressor for cleaning off the dials. Much more consistent air flow and in this case when the hands aren’t on you can increase the psi a bit to really get everything off. Also better practice to use a pin vice to hold the stem to reduce the risk of damaging it while sizing it.
came out amazing , which bezel color did you use for this ? I built the two tone with green dial datejust and people are goin crazy when they see it lol
I like the concept of a customized label as well. Yours looks absolutely fantastic! It sets the watch apart and quickly quiet those people who want to talk about “illegitimate copies.“ Is your source in the United States or overseas and how did you find them?
Hi mate, great video. Pretty watch. I like the fact you put your own dial in there. I do think it’s a little too close to the original mind. I always feel a mod, should stand out from the original. I’ve made some homages myself, but hardly ever wear those at they’re too close to the original. Anyway, keep up the good work.
@@jbwatchmods Thanks buddy, what interest me is that the movement holder sits nicely in the Hand press tools, i have the same tool as well, couldn't find a nh movement holder that fits the base.
Love your videos and watches! I’m about to build my first nh35 mod! One thing I’ve been curious about is if I should worry about the water proofness of the crown… does the crown have a gasket? Or are the threads pretty resistant on their own?
Thanks mate! The crowns do have a gasket, the type depends on where you get your case from. Some have o-rings in the crown tube, some have them on the crown itself. Doesn't hurt to lubricate them!
This is clean!!, I did have a question though. How come you don't use or need the white movement spacer? I did a built with NH35A and 40mm case, but the spacer that came with is to big and without it movement & dial is loose & moving. How do you make it fit perfect all the time? haha.
I’ve had the exact same trouble with my GMT mod. Where did you get the file for helping get the dial to fit fully? I had to abandon things altogether and use a different movement and store away the GMT hand altogether. Thought I’d need to buy another dial altogether.
@@jbwatchmods Thank you! I actually checked through my great grandfather's old tools that I've been using, found a triangle file, and used your videos as a guide. Really appreciate your detail in these videos, as it helped to upgrade my mod even further. My friend who own's an actual 'Bruce Wayne' GMT Master II couldn't notice the different at first glance!
root beer is defiently on my to do list, I run a small jewellery, watch and designer goods store and am looking to start making these, ordering everything for a two tone GMT soon then I've got a Pepsi and root beer to do afterwards, what do you use for shipping, can you make a video of the watch boxes you use for sending out watches
I built a Pepsi meteorite GMT with an NH34 and the functionality of setting the GMT hand independently has stopped working. Any idea why that would happen? I can still set the date but no luck with the GMT hand. Thanks for the great content, definitely has inspired me.
Hey mate, pretty good for the price to be honest! Comfortable and plenty of adjustment. The clasps can sometimes be hit or miss but are usually easily fixable!
Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I don't believe the NH34A is considered by the horological community to be a "true" GMT movement, as stated in the video. If my understanding of the current vernacular is correct, it's the "traveler's" type GMT movement that is also sometimes referred to as a "true" GMT movement. In this configuration, the hour hand is able to be set separately from the other hands as a convenience to the person who is often physically traveling from one time zone to another. The NH34A is what is known as an "office" or "caller's" GMT. Here, the GMT hand can be moved independently of the other hands, which is a convenience to persons who are stationary themselves, but like to track the time in other time zones across the globe. Other than that one minor detail, it's a beautiful build. 👍
My neuroses would not allow me to be ok with date changing 15 minutes early or late especially if you’re selling them. If you don’t press the minute hand all the way down, you can do a revolution and then easily reset the minute hand to get +/- a minute.
@@jbwatchmodsthat's absolutely not the case. Getting the date to flip over +-3 minutes is achievable on any movement as it has nothing to do with the actual movement and everything to do with being accurate and going slow when flipping the date over.
No, apologies. Maybe I didn't phrase the question properly. You handle for instance and I see Ali built watches referred to as mods other places. Is that just the term people use? Love your content bro.
I too think it is important to fill in that upper empty spot on the dial with something! That said, I would never place the word "handmade" on a watch where none of its parts were made by hand. "Assembled by hand" is an accurate statement but doesn't seem to be something worth saying. I'm stuck and can't offer a solution!
This is not a true gmt movement… a true gmt movement is able to move the hour hand independently of the other hands. This is an office gmt movement which moves the gmt hand independently.
You ground out the dial feet with the movement on the table. The filings are all in the movement now.
You know I never really considered rose gold before, but this is really making me consider adding some color to my sea of stainless steel.
I don't think you'll have any regrets!
I think everyone needs a gold watch in their collection
