Only when it’s done incorrectly. Your purpose and your dreams don’t always align and sometimes they do. I understand what she is saying but purpose absolutely matters more than dreams and wants. That is hard truth many do not like. As women we tend not to have boundaries because many were not taught to have them and that is the main problem.

@@KFontLabcould you elaborate on what you think purpose is and why it matters more? I feel like they’re equally important and agree with @officialjocelyn9108 that our purpose serves others while I feel dreams serve us.
I feel like we should do both but as women we get pushed more towards purpose and how we can serve others without having the balance of serving ourselves and our dreams and wants which are also very important.

I did that and chose the state with the most sunny days in a year 364 days of Sunshine. Yes it’s hot in the summer but OMG I can’t live without the Sunshine. I dreamed to do it since 2012 and it took me 10 years to get the courage but I did and moved to Las Vegas Nevada!!! I’m here alone and my family thinks I’m nuts for doing it but IT WAS MY DREAM!!! God supplied every need and I’m loving it!!!
Facts. Tired of society imposing it's expectations on how black women should live. This is my life. I will live how I choose to.
So many times, we impose these harmful ideals onto ourselves, unfortunately. But we can fix it!

I agree! I'm at this point now! Have been groomed to be the family caregiver...Parenting my mother, siblings kids...being a parent to everyone because their parents should've never had kids. NOW it's MY time! I walked away from a lot of my family to focus on myself & yes many are upset, but they are NOT going to kill me. Many black women were groomed to be codependent parentified caretakers!
I have been treating patients in clinical practice for almost 15 years. So many women are sinking and suffering in silence because they do not understand that they must be their highest priority. We become weighed down with depression, anxiety, frustration, guilt, regret, insecurity and shame when we neglect ourselves. We do not have to do every thing for every one else, and we certainly do not have to be every thing for everyone one else. It's okay to say NO! NO! NO! and NO again! Self-care is not selfish. It's called self-preservation! When we learn that and commit "wholeheartedly" to the dream..... our dream, that's when the out flow of blessing will rain in. Start dreaming again my sisters and thrive!

I've been on your channel for awhile now and this one is for the history book. I live on Corn Island, Nicaragua and it's a beautiful life. I'm living my dream and my purpose as one in a 3rd world country. I pour into my dreams first so my purpose is healthy mentally and physically works. I love this message it's very powerful for the masses great job my sister.
Damn Steph! Thank you for this. Makes sense considering beyond being a great parent to my son, I have struggled with my purpose. But I do have dreams of how I want my life to be that do not include worrying about others. Going full speed, no brakes on those goals starting today! I'll let the rest fall into place.

Sister I attended one of your conferences. I was planning to move to Paris. I created a wonderful way to finance my trip and I arrived in January. Now that I'm here I don't like Paris. The decision was guided by a number of reasons and purpose was one of them. Just last night I told my best friend no more of this! I want the soft life!
This message is so on point! As a black women, I'm so glad I took that cape off. I stop sacrificing my dreams, joys and happiness. It's about me from now on. 🥂
I've had to change the question recently, as times have changed for me. As long as my mother was alive, I sacrificed my happiness and purpose to inspire her to live her life (it's been 5 years ago since she's no longer with us). I was a nurse, and didn't like it, but was able to see it through until i got sick (disability from strokes). Now that's she's gone (and I will always miss her), I want to live my dreams. Thank you so much!
Facts... I hear you sis. Its really a combination of both. Start with your dreams! Your purpose will be found in your dreams. Your gifts will be evident for fulfilling that dream.
Purpose will have your beaten and bruise mentally, emotionally, or physically. Purpose doesn't always lead to happiness.
My purpose is to live life on my terms and enjoy as much pleasure as possible.

Right on! Thank goodness my mother told me when I was in my fifties that I had done ENOUGH for other people. My work involved helping others and I and my husband had volunteered to help others too. My mother helped me so much by releasing me from these black woman burdens and obligations to others. Thank goodness!❤

I can see all of my broken dreams laying all around my house. From things I was once so deeply passionate about until my “purpose” in life replaced my dreams and served as my main focus. I wanted sooo much for myself. Thank you Stephanie for this hard but gentle spark. Thank you for your heart and your willingness to share. Thank you for “showing up” for us and for yourself and being accountable, dependable and last but not least, thank you for your raw and radical HONESTY. That part 🎯🎯🎯 My true purpose is to live out my dreams … to give my ancestors who did not have a choice access to some joy and ease…which will naturally align with my joy and gifts. When I am happy and fulfilled, the people around me will enjoy me. That’s my gift to the world ❤

I JUST LOVE THIS WOMAN ! And I’m married, but I’m free to travel and do things that I desire for myself, my children are grown. I’m finding myself in a rare situation where I can make these types of decisions. I felt bad because I don’t know what my purpose is, and my life has had more downs than ups. I am now PLANNING the ups, because what I have discovered in my struggles, is that Ups don’t just come. 🎉🎉🎉 And you are GLOWING today Sis! 😍

Purpose? My purpose is to be free and enjoy this life that so many people take for granted.
I was featured in the local news for work that I’m extremely passionate about. Doing this work has required lots of energy and focus. I’ve noticed that lately, I’ve been very selfish about my time and energy outside of work-I only do what I want to do, I move casually with no agenda, I relax and get massages and read my books, I take myself to nice restaurants , I retreat home whenever I feel like it. I’m working out regularly, and I’m cooking more-all because I have been unapologetically selfish about my time. Your videos allow me to know that it’s ok. My DREAM is for my work to gain attention on a national stage. I realize that moving towards that dream has required extreme self-care, and I’m not going to apologize for it.

You know, I’ve done my share of sacrifice that did not serve me well like many Black women but at 58, it is high time that I listen to my ”first mind” as my Mother called it. I married three times twice to the same man over riding my gut to satisfy societal expectations. All to my detriment. I don’t know what my purpose is but I have some dreams. And permission to follow my dreams is taken. I’ve felt strapped in and caged by obligation my entire life. Enough. My internet Sister Stephanie politely unlatched the door.
