Agatha and Rio are the literal epitome of “I hate you, but I have to have you”. They loathe each other, but they also love each other at the same time.
And I think that's how she dies, there's black energy swelling around both of them during the kiss and she floats for a moment before falling back and decays.
@@friendlyfiddler5727 i think that was just Rio's famous kiss of death. An iconic ability the grim reaper/death has possessed in media throughout history.
@@OHALALNOHA not really. Because Agatha says in episode 1 "you can't kill me, it's not allowed". If Rio was capable of killing someone with a kiss, she could have done it and killed Agatha, but she didn't because she can't kill. Agatha died here because of the siphoning of Rio's powers, she did it through a kiss, and it was a metaphorical kiss of death instead of the literal
Jac Schaeffer confirmed in an interview about this episode that Rio and Agatha have kissed previously without issues; the reason Agatha dies here is exactly because she's using her power sucking ability (her succubus powers) on Rio, which is what's killing her.
Alice's death being real was still heartbreaking. "You're a protection witch and you died protecting someone" still hurt. I think she should have had a daughter so breaking the curse could have meant something.
"sometimes boys just die" showed the same thing from a different perspective. Death just is. It doesn't need anything else happening to have or lack meaning. She lived, she died. That's life, quite literally.
They did a really good job of lending weight to the characters that were lost. Everyone already loved Debrah Jo Rupp so her dying first inherently mattered. They fleshed out the others stories enough to feel like they mattered before they were offed.
Sharon said there were tunnels under Westview, from a failed mass transit system. The entire Witches’ Road was in the tunnels below Westview. So technically the place was real (like with Wanda). He created it unconsciously (again like Wanda), but the Trials were real. He created the Witches’ Road, and unconsciously set the “rules” but then it acted somewhat autonomously to create the Trials. What is really wild is, why were the Salem Seven able to enter? Another piece of evidence that once created, the Road was a real place and not being consciously controlled by Billy.
Salem 7 entered because of the spell they made in episode 4 which left the "door" opened so basically the spell left a pathway to where they were, this magical realm created from Billy's mind of what the Witches' Road would look like.
@LukaWukaWatcher I'd say it's especially terrifying because it's on accident! In the comics he eventually starts worrying that he can't have a truly consensual relationship because he might have unconsciously influenced his boyfriend to fall in love with him, which leads to them breaking up for a little while. It's a whole mess.
the kid getting Tommy's soul as he's drowning has to be one of the darkest scenes in the whole MCU, just as dark as Marc Spector getting abused by his mom, the ravager executions, HYDRA is secretly in SHIELD, Ego's true motive, The High Evolutionary destroying Counter-Earth and mocking Rocket for killing Lyla, and the snap/blip
"Sometimes, boys die" is this show's "What's Grief but love persevering." and on message still. It's all grief and people's process (healthy and not so much).
Loved how they did the fight. It was a worry for me too, but they got it right. They made it so very personal between them. Centuries of feeling behind every move and more barbed words than anything else.
20:21 what Billy believes can become reality. Agatha created the story of the Witches’ Road to bait witches into her trap but because Billy heard stories about it and believed in its existence; he made it a real thing.
Makes me wonder if the Witches' Road continues to exist from now on and any future coven will be able to access it if they do the ballad regardless if billy is there or not. "Magic on autopilot".
@Pistonnnnn Yeah I’m mixed on that too. I know in the comics Billy creates reality, similar to Wanda but he has to believe in it. So him believing in the road would make it real. So yes, any coven anywhere in the world could conjure the road with trials suited to them without Billy BUT seeing him going back and forth”sealing” it off in the last episode kind of makes me think that him knowing he made it and that the stories were fake, that the road now doesn’t exist.
It's like that episode of Supernatural where the kid had reality-warping powers and what he believed was real actually happened around him, which mean that practical jokes were killing people because he was told that itching powder made you scratch your brains out and joy buzzers fried you to death so it was actually happening to people until the boys managed to convince him that those things weren't true.
Ah but the road is real it’s a pocket dimension that Billy created then, in my opinion, just closed the door too & any witch now access it if they want
I would say the road is *more* real than Wanda's version of Westview. For her she took the existing town and just essentially used magick to apply a sort of "filter" to it, but Billy actually manifested the road into reality. Yes, the road didn't exist before he made it, but once he did make it, it *was* real, existing on its own outside of his power, and (mostly) outside of his control. I'm not sure if at the end of the show when he seals the door if that's him closing *that* door or erasing the road from existence, but either way the road was absolutely *real* while the coven was on it.
billy was the one who found all the clues, and everytime he said something, convieniently the road granted his saying even this episode he said 'back to square one'
Lillia told him that the trials were about people facing their fears so that what they became about. Agatha was also manipulating him by giving him suggestions as what they might encounter on the Road. The entire "punish Agatha" thing was him being fed up with Agatha insulting everyone and making a mockery of the trials.
I think Agatha All Along is the best tv show to ever have the marvel brand, and pretty easily. I love Rio cutting her way out of that scene. Huge foreshadowing that they are all in a fake made-up place. Little things like that are what make this show amazing.
Like they say, life's a stage (the road could be seen as a play/backdrop), or well, in this case a magical reality created by the mind of a telapath/reality witch is a stage :)
Billy helping Tommy's soul find a body is the most Maximoff thing ever. And taking responsibility for someone else earned him worthy of being a Young Avenger!!😊
JUST the scene of the possibly Tommy's resurrection was UNBELIEVABLE ! Heartbreaking, and horrible, she gave me goosebomp. A child who's not loved by his parents ? And killed by bullies ? What terribly sad life this kid had 😰 ?
The Road was made real by Billy. It didn't exist before. Just like WandaVision was made real by Wanda's Hex, the Witches Road was just underground, under Westview, which is why they ran into the subway station that Mrs. Davis mentioned in episode 3 ("our failed public transit system"). Like mother, like son.
21:57 when they first started on the road, Sharon said that she thought the only thing under Westview was its old transportation system. That would explain the subway. There's also a moment when Lily and Jen are together where you can see the yellow veins in the wall on one side of Lilia and work lights in the tunnel on the other side of her.
"He's such a twink" LMAOOO this ep and next had me crying in both ugh, that situation with the boy is so depressing and I love the foreshadowing all throughout this show.
Agatha can’t absorb Death’s powers because of the cosmic entity concept, there’s always going to be Death and Agatha can’t absorb or replace Death. Agatha kissing Death was her attempting to absorb her powers, knowing that it will kill her. If you notice Death continues like it is just a make out session but then realized that Agatha was absorbing her powers thus dying without Death causing it. The kiss wasn’t necessary but it seems like the only way Agatha would be able to get Death to “give in” on being the one to kill Agatha against her will.
What could be worse than sacrificing your son? Well, when the premise isn't true to begin with...the truth of being unable to save your son would seem to be somewhat worse, I think. That's why she lets them believe she sacrificed Nicholas for the Darkhold. Because she knows it's not true, and because the truth is worse. She couldn't save him, even with all her power.
New Rockstars actually stated this was a possibility. They talk about all the things on the road that's in William's room. Sharon Davies did say she was expecting to see the old failed Metro down below, which was there.

I'm glad this series happened ,or else I would keep on believing Agatha is just a villain who's hungry for power. It seems the power is to find her son ,which won't be enough same as a mother's love.

6:50 That's why you don't date entities of certain primordial aspects. The break up would be universe shattering. Imagine dating someone like... A Lord of Order, that one would have serious control issues. "We wash away the food bits first before adding soap. That is the order of things! blah blah fucking blah..."
I love how when she dies her shoes curl up.
This show is definitely very good but my number 1 this year is definitely "The Penguin". One of the best shows i ever watched and it’s not even finished.
Edit: You guys need to watch The Penguin, it’s so extremely entertaining
I'm glad this series happened ,or else I would keep on believing Agatha is just a villain who's hungry for power. It seems the power is to find her son ,which won't be enough same as a mother's love.
Give your heart to a straight guy and immediately fall into turbo hell? Relatable, but...
Give yourself the kiss of Death partially to save your gay nephew but mostly as a way of saying "Consider this our divorce"? Aspirational.
8:47 the little shoes in his room look like they're made of bronze
People having their young children's first shoes bronzed after they grow out of them as a keepsake is a thing.
Clarus, you could totally pull off Rio/Death at the next ComicCon or other gathering.
Please do the reaction of Kalki 2898 AD movie, which is featured in Comic-con international, its a Indian's highest budget film and also a Mythological Sci-fi Action Drama genre
It’s the reverse Keyser Söze ending.
Where's EP 9 haha can't wait to get your final thoughts on the show!
Definitely Keyser Söze vibes at the end
14:48 Agatha still doesn't have any powers. At the end of episode 5, we saa the power she got from Alice fizzle out before the others come out of the trail house.
8:31 bro how did he know!!!???!?!
I love this show to death❤
I mean, in a sense the next episode is a musical episode
Agatha could be conning Rio, or Billy, or both, or neither... the one person she is ALWAYS lying to is... Agatha Harkness.
#JoeLocke the most beautyful twink on earth
hope you had tissus for 9th episode lol
