That's why she's insisting it to Jen. Even if it doesn't make sense without context. And well now knowing Agatha co-created the song. No one can judge Agatha for changing the lyrics cause it's her song lol.
"I cannot heal you. I cannot protect you from what's coming. And I cannot divine when she will return." Potions Witch, Protection Witch, Divination Witch. She was collecting powers and strengths she didn't have 😭
Their powers aren't enough. She didn't have hope until she met Wanda. This is why in episode 5 of Wandavision she was intrigued to hear when the boys asked Wanda to bring Sparky back from the dead.
Nicky would have been a stillbirth but Death gave Agatha time with him. Agatha and Nicky made the Witches’ Road song themselves but then Agatha used it to gather witches to drain. But Lorna’s song makes the song a protection spell. So two mothers using the songs in very different ways.
@@sillyskater2 she was killing witches with nicky since the day he was born... the one night she decided not to kill that's when death took nicky because the witches bodies were a distraction
And the final 'trial' is what it took for her to realise what she should have learned centuries ago. She repeats the line 'I need more time!' when in reality she had all the time she needed, she needed to learn to use it. She had all the extra time that Rio gave Nicky, and she wasted it trying to gain power to either fight off Rio, or keeping her busy with excess bodies instead of savouring the time she had with a son who should have never been.
The music nerd in me loved the fact that the song between Agatha and Nicky was in a major (happy) key, but when Agatha repurposes it to trap unwitting witches, it changes to a minor (sinister/creepy) key.
For what it’s worth, Agatha didn’t actually decorate the bedroom in Ralph Bohner’s house. When she looked in on that bedroom in Ep 1, what she was seeing was part of Wanda’s spell, torturing her and giving her Mare Of Easttown “character” a tragic backstory
The trailer: "LaSt OnE tHeRe iS a NiCe pErSoN." The show: - "I am a forgotten woman" - "You hold no power over me." - "Sometimes... Boys die." - "I CAN'T FACE HIM!"
This show is constructed so masterfully. It goes back to recontextualize previous scenes three separate times. Wiccan backstory episode throws us in for a loop to explain the ward of why nobody can hear his name and thats his entire deal. Lilia episode masterfully connects bits and pieces scattered around the show to create a cohesive story. Then episode nine goes back to the very beginning to create the biggest plot twist about the road. With each iteration every gesture, every word spoken, every act gets a new layer of meaning. Its genuinely impressive, inception level writing.
We all thought them changing the title to "Agatha all Along" was because of the reference to Wanda Vision. But the title truly works after seeing the finale. It was Agatha who made up the road all along.
I’ve liked Kathryn Hahn for years, and mostly know her from comedic supporting roles. But the range she showed in this show is amazing. She should be starring in some major movies and winning some major awards.
I think Agatha became a ghost because she made a deal with Rio that when she died she wouldn't see her (face). So, Rio didn't collect her spirit. That's probably why Rio said earlier she hated ghosts. For the sequel title... Something Wiccan This Way Comes!
Another facet of Alice's arc, that we get from this episode, is that The Witches Road was a labor of love between Agatha and Nicolas which was then perverted by Agatha to trap gullible witches but then Lorna turned it back into love and used a version of the song to protect Alice...returning to the original intent (also why I think Agatha had so many alternative lyrics with Nicolas...the song could have always been something more)
Gullible witches who also still had to attack her first for her to leech them. Soooo it’s like killing someone that just shot you. That first coven in the woods fully planned to attack that “helpless woman and her baby “ in the woods. And she nuked em rightly so imo . 😂
Agatha doesn’t trust witches. Her experience is they try to kill her. She can’t trust them. The witches in the woods attacked a woman and her baby not knowing she could suck them dry. She can only take power when attacked first. It’s why the main group didn’t die cuz they didn’t attack her first…… she tried to rile them up on purpose but they still had to pull the trigger first
Nicky's room in Agatha's house is an extension of Wanda's spell/curse. Wanda stripped Agatha of who she was, utterly and entirely, but she was only JUST learning to control magic and not just react with it. Agatha's trauma cuts her so deep that even Wanda's spell can't remove Nicky from her mind, his room is just the manipulated construct of mind manipulation magic and pervasive trauma. It was never there, but Agatha, even under an influence, can't just delete/cover that wound, the bedroom was the result.
Wanda's spell was already deteriorating at that point, and some elements of reality were starting to creep in, such as her seeing Wanda's body and learning of the Darkhold's destruction. Nicholas becoming a part of her detective character story could have been a result of that as well.
"You more like created a room they died in." Like Jigsaw. 🤣 This show is so deceptively simple, and so complicated. It's glorious! Cool and goofy is a flat circle.
Billy has a Buffy "Once more with feeling" poster from the Buffy episode of the same name. And Emma Caulfield who appeared in EP:1 of Agatha was a Buffy cast member who sang in the episode, though she doesn't appear on the poster.
Something really bugged me during Episode 3. When Agatha was more than okay for Teen to drink the wine the first time but sacrificed herself to drink it the second time. What changed? Why did she do that? The answer was simple. Agatha knew Billy conjured the Road. And knowing the wine is poisoned, she calculated that she has a higher chance of survival if she drinks the poison than if Teen did. Because if the poison kills him, she knew she'd be trapped in a collapsing "Witches' Road" without knoqing where the exit is.
"This must be after her mom tried to kill her." Yeah, about 60 years after. Agatha got the darkhold c. 1690. Agatha's coven trial was 1693 (around same time of Salem Witch Trials). Might be when she first met death. Nicholas Scratch was born 1750. While she was draining witches prior, I presume her draining of witches post birth staved off death. So, when he skipped out on the opportunity to do it again, unwittingly welcomed Death to come for him.
Draining witches didn't have anything to do with keeping death away, she is just a murderer who distrusted other witches so she killed any she came across to get more power.
Ok so the way I interpreted it was that Agatha needed to A. Provide Death with bodies in order to keep her away and 2. Agatha needed to steal the power from other witches in order to “feed” him, cause we see that first encounter he was crying so much then afterwards he immediately stopped crying. And because Nicky didn’t like killing other witches they only “killed what they needed”. So when Nicky ran away he was both starving himself and Agatha probably came short of her quota. Crazy amazing finale, need to rewatch the entire season.
If Kathryn Hahn & Patti Lupone don't at least get Emmy nominations that is proof of definite bias when it comes to comicbook movies/tv. They were both absolutely phenomenal in this series & put forth acting performances you rarely see in comic based shows.
It's so fun to know that Agatha always had an exit strategy. She knew she might juat sacrifice himself for the teen who reminds her so much of Nicky. So her deal with Rio was for Death to stay out of her way even after she dies. So when she fulfilled her end of the bargain, then sacrificed herself afterwards, Rio felt the need to do her side of the bargain. This leaves Agatha the chancd to come back as a ghost. It won't be Agatha all along season 2 because Agatha all along is a part of WandaVision trilory. Vision Quest will be the closing chapter. I guess it'll be Wiccan show maybe with the same title
21:00 I really like the way the show did that with the ballad. We had the tru crime version, the sacred chant, Lorna's protection song, and the cover. Finally, the original recipe. Different versions, intentions, and outcomes. I love it ❤
Two things that make me laugh : 1. Agatha said (in ep.3) that she reconize easily a fraud (Jen with her Kale care) and with ep. 9 we know why : she changed the ballad, made with her son, into a con in order to drain witches powers. 2. Death said she hates ghosts and what is Agatha now (excluding the fact that she don't want to face Nicholas in afterlife) ? A ghost !
Agatha has been a con artist for centuries. We see this in each and every interaction she has. She always starts out being manipulative, tailoring what she's saying to the mark. She does that even when she wants to be honest, often having to pretend she was joking. Only very rarely is she so emotional that she speaks the truth...and this usually shocks her so much, she retracts what she just said.
Still wondering who Nicky’s dad is or if he could be the son of Rio and Agatha like they were in a relationship and the way Rio seemed so concerned about why Agatha lets people think bad things about her and Nicky is interesting.
My thought process is that to ward-off Rio for awhile, she kept on killing the witches so Rio can collect her bodies, I mean, she is Death...still gotta do her job you know? So the day she doesn't kill any witches is the day Rio comes back. It's like that important task you get at work, school, etc., you know it's important, but at the same time, it's okay to not complete said task right away. As you check off that list of tasks, you'll eventually comeback to it In terms of simply killing the Witches, she's probably salty from what her mom did to her, the kill or be killed mentality. And yeah, she loves the power, lol. Fantastic series.
Since Nicky was Gray and sickly except after Agatha drained Witch power (then he got more pink and rosy), I assumed she was using the power to extend his life. It was losing effectiveness over time and that one time not draining anyone was the end for him. Once he was gone, her heart was buried with him. Add that girl approaching her wanting to find a prize based on the last thing she shared with her child (and the look of disgust on her face), she snapped and went full hater mode. She still occasionally can be made to drop the act that she doesn't care, but for the most part, she pretty much wanted to be alone from then on. No family or Coven to betray her, nothing let into her heart. it should also be pointed out that she isn't the one who made a legend out of the song. People did that on their own, it's why she was so offended enough in the moment to do what she did. In her mind, she's just doling out justice.
10:38 I think Agatha was killing witches to distract Rio with other bodies to collect. So when Nicky didn't want to kill the witches that night, Rio was available to come for him. I like to think (probably wistfully) that Rio met up with Nicky at least once before. So he would not only be prepared for what was coming but also so he could spend his last night with his mother. And not out luring witches to their deaths.
I have a feeling that rio was visiting Nicky constantly because he wasn’t afraid to go with her. Also when he said “I must go my mother needs me” after he was done singing I think he meant rio was waiting for him because he always called Agatha “mama” or “mom”
There is also the fact that agatha indirectly saved alice all those years since alice's mom made the protection spell based on the ballad that nicholas and agatha created
"When i do die and long long long long long time from now, i don't want to see your face". The way i read it Agath did her deal with Rio for Billy, and Rio agreed to it, then Agath, as ever, tricked another witch and saved Billy, cos Rio, again, agreed to just having one of them die. Agath died but death can't come for her cos that was the deal.
Watching this episode just made me think ab what agatha must have been feeling while singing lornas ballad especially bc she made it as a protection spell for her daughter when agatha couldnt protect her child
Your reactions to Agatha All Along have been so joyous and honest and entertaining! Thank you, guys! And I really hope this is not the last e see of Agatha!!
The three deaths of the coven, Sharon Davis the bystander a total innocent, Alice Wu a participant taken before she was ready to go but purpose fulfilled , Lilia Calderu after hiding from death for centuries makes peace with and accepts death. It reinforces the consequences and finality. So good. So heartbreaking.
This kind of reminds me of a thought I had. Jen's trial - she learns she's more than her power, and begins the path to reclaiming it. Alice's trial - she breaks her curse. The reason her mom wanted her to go. Lillia's trial - she finds peace with her abilities and her mortality (as you pointed out). That leaves Agatha and the Green witch trial. If Billy really was the black heart, that makes him the green with. Rio was a tourist and Mrs Davis wasn't supposed to be there. And the green trial was life from death. Tommy. So 'he' actually passed it. Agatha's trail - I think she was supposed to die, and cheated it with Alice. She never got her reward. Or, rather, she did. But it was becoming a ghost after.
You made a great point, from the second Agatha realized Jen was bound what was the point of having her come to the basement or “walk the road” it’s not like she would’ve been able to blast her with any of her power.
16:53 - Its current name is “Vision Quest.” It will bring back the Wanda and, the White Vision, Billy and Tommy will reunite. Some others say the main villain will be Ultron again.
When you realize that pretty much the entire plot was outlined, not just in the first damned episode, but in the promotional materials released months before... aargh. I'm also glad that they made Agatha stay true to herself (well her version of true anyway)
Ever since Nicky was born, as long as Agatha killed witches Rio stayed away. After he died, Agatha couldn’t face Nicky so she kept trying to keep Rio away. Once Wanda died and the spell broke loose, Rio could find Agatha who hadn’t given her a body in three years. It’s all about Nicky.
THAT SHOW WAS AMAZING!!! Such amazing characters. Agatha was a silly comedic at first but way, way deeper in these last episodes. Also her fight with Rio was excellent. This show knocked it out of the park!
Ah, bless, you too... you're so open hearted with your beautiful emotions... nothing wrong with enjoying a good cry every once and a while... and you're Canucks, too! Nice... moi aussi! Thanks for reviewing this show. It was fun 'watching' it with new friends.
Another reason why Agatha could’ve been killing the witches was so Rio wouldn’t kill Nicholas. Agatha killed witches everyday but the one day that they didn’t was the same day that Nicholas died. So the deal could’ve been that Agatha kills the witches so Rio can collect the bodies and she won’t kill Nicholas.
OMG in the wizard of oz there is a yellow brick road that Dorothy goes on and reaches the end for a prize while being hunted by the wicked witch of the west that is based on Agatha!
I love that this series made a full episode for the epilogue as opposed to just throwing in 2-3 minutes of an epilogue into the tail end of the finale episode. Absolutely LOVED this series!!
This is my favorite show this year, and my favorite Marvel show alongside wandavision, my second favorite Marvel show, are both seasons of loki. I love this show so much!❤
Omg! This show was amazing. It would be so cool if you guys checked out heartstopper since its Joe Locke’s first acting job, and the story is just so sweet/relatable.
She wasn’t absorbing witch power to fight off Death, but offering up bodies to keep her from coming for her son. The day they she doesn’t kill witches is the day her son dies.
I think something everyone missed is that, Agatha wasn't stealing powers to save Nicky. There was no saving Nicky. And that's the other part. Death (Rio) isn't evil. In fact, she gave Nicky more time. He was supposed to die at birth. Death is part of life. The reason Agatha couldn't face him, in death, is because she gave birth to him, knowing that he was going to die young.
Loki, wandavision, agatha, and the holiday specials were all great. I liked a lot of hawkeye, moon knight, and she hulk. I struggle a lot with faws, it did have a lot of good things but i feel like it personally wronged me by the end lol. Secret invasion, we dont talk about. Echo i dont think i can talk about it. What if is there! Overall id say a mixed bag but you would have hoped for a better ratio
I am going to call myself half right. Agatha never walked the road it is true, but I didn't think it was because she made it up as a con to kill witches.
If I could change one thing in this show, in the last scene, have Billy pick up Senor Scratchy and bring him with them. Like, where's OUR BOY!?!? Did the Salem 7 eat him? Did he just go off to be a wild Bunny? Like, Senor Scratchy meant something to Agatha, she would cuddle him and mull over her plans with him, he was a comfort to him. And now he's missing.
I heard a theory that the reason Agatha was killing the witches was to distract death or at least give her other priorities so she had more time with him. Another one is that she was collecting power to try to get stronger to potential heal him but I feel the first one is more likely since it wasn’t in her capabilities to heal him in the first place
I think it’s vision show next. I can see Billy finding tommy and they try to potentially find vision. Since Ralph told them sword used vision for parts which likely means they’re probably trying to replicate vision to some degree.
As far as I know, this series is connected to the series called Vision Quest, so it would be WandaVision, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Agatha All Along and Vision Quest, the order of the Maximoff saga
There is a theory that Agatha killed witches when Nicky was young that it would stall Rio/ Death from claiming him , that's why one night she didn't kill them Nicky died
Agatha wasn't bullshitting. It really was Coven Two. Agatha and Nicky
A friend said the same thing to me today. i did not see that until he told me. That was heartbreak all over again. offcourse coven of two.
And Agatha should know because they wrote the song.

@virgosims2368 Agatha has been killing Witches long before Nicky was even a thought. It is how she met and fell in love with Death (Rio).

And then directly murdered her.
@ItsAlwaysSlushie the irony of it all was not lost on me lol
@@levioliver6566 The reveal that she was going to drain them in the basement and her killing Alice was 100% in her control had me punching the air
This show was best Marvel TV series, followed by Loki. The coupling of great writing and actors never fails.
Adding Aubrey Plaza to the same honor tier as Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.
You made a great point, from the second Agatha realized Jen was bound what was the point of having her come to the basement or “walk the road” it’s not like she would’ve been able to blast her with any of her power.
She thought surrounded by witches she would jot into it
16:53 - Its current name is “Vision Quest.”
It will bring back the Wanda and, the White Vision, Billy and Tommy will reunite. Some others say the main villain will be Ultron again.
tbh she could never fight death, she knew. It hurt Rio as well cause she just couldn’t not do it 😿 what a mess! it broke me forever
The song being hummed is "Greensleeves."
“What if Agatha has killed them all?” 😂 That thought came up so quickly as well.
When you realize that pretty much the entire plot was outlined, not just in the first damned episode, but in the promotional materials released months before... aargh. I'm also glad that they made Agatha stay true to herself (well her version of true anyway)
I also can't beleive I took this long for Kathryn hahn to have recognition , she was almost all of the time a 2nd part but she IS AWSOME ❤
I really love how this is the first MCU show that has a dedicated showrunner. Really helps the vision.
The decorated room was apart of the spell so it was all subconsciously made
THAT SHOW WAS AMAZING!!! Such amazing characters. Agatha was a silly comedic at first but way, way deeper in these last episodes. Also her fight with Rio was excellent. This show knocked it out of the park!
Kathryn Hahn deserves all the awards!!
So in terms of the witches road, It really was Agatha all along!
Ah, bless, you too... you're so open hearted with your beautiful emotions... nothing wrong with enjoying a good cry every once and a while... and you're Canucks, too! Nice... moi aussi! Thanks for reviewing this show. It was fun 'watching' it with new friends.
That song with the witches in a circle is "Greensleeves" more recently used as a melody for "What Child is this?".
It seems to me like she hid her grief by repeating what she did to protect her son, over & over, until she felt she was unredeemable.
Another reason why Agatha could’ve been killing the witches was so Rio wouldn’t kill Nicholas. Agatha killed witches everyday but the one day that they didn’t was the same day that Nicholas died. So the deal could’ve been that Agatha kills the witches so Rio can collect the bodies and she won’t kill Nicholas.
visionquest is the next show
OMG in the wizard of oz there is a yellow brick road that Dorothy goes on and reaches the end for a prize while being hunted by the wicked witch of the west that is based on Agatha!
I love this show so much!❤
All the foreshadowing, all the stories and tales about witches that ultimately came from Agatha - you could say... it was Agatha all along.
I'm honestly really glad you guys reacted to this show, this is how I found you guys and I'm now a fan for life!
so far no one has commented that death told him to kiss his mother goodbye
So…in WandaVision, is Agatha doing it all to get Wanda’s ability to create life and she then can get Nicky back?
That's why Agatha is shocked if Wanda can do that when Sparky dies. She literally asked, "You can do that?"
I am going to call myself half right. Agatha never walked the road it is true, but I didn't think it was because she made it up as a con to kill witches.
Lolol she technically walked the road with Nicky!!
When she broke the 4th wall omg !!!! 😂 love you guys
I literally cry at each reaction. Such a great scene!
I really enjoyed all of your reactions to this! If you ever decide to react to heartstopper I will be sat I think you'd really like it
In the comic series: Scarlet Witch Down the Witches Road
Agatha is a ghost guiding Wanda
I need you guys to watch Heartstopper omg
The main character is also played by Joe Locke and it's a very gay show
Dick Wolf rant was great hahah
This series is so good. I hope Billy and Agatha return in the VisionQuest series in 2026.
The third show in this Wanda & Vision story arc is tentatively titled "Vision Quest" and we have to wait a couple more years for it...
I heard a theory that the reason Agatha was killing the witches was to distract death or at least give her other priorities so she had more time with him.
Another one is that she was collecting power to try to get stronger to potential heal him but I feel the first one is more likely since it wasn’t in her capabilities to heal him in the first place
I am pretty sure Nicky's awards were before she was snapped out of Wanda's spell, which means that it doesn't actually exist.
The "third show" is the upcoming Vision Quest (or whatever it ends up being called). Apparently it was always intended to be a trilogy.
Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Agatha All Along and Vision Quest, the order of the Maximoff saga
it wasn’t agatha collecting power to fight it off, it was agatha killing witches to distract rio from nicky
Or both
Or neither
I think this might continue in the Visionquest show next year.
I assume Tommy will find Vision, while vision is trying learn to act human (again).
There is a theory that Agatha killed witches when Nicky was young that it would stall Rio/ Death from claiming him , that's why one night she didn't kill them Nicky died
The third show in this trilogy is Vision Quest.
Wandavision
Agatha All Along
Vision Quest
I think that’s what they said
Sequel idea: Agatha Tags Along
