In a weird way, Lorna Wu’s version is the most true to the original. A song representing the love of a mother to her child. She even made it a protection spell to prevent the curse affecting her, shielding her from death and spread it. It is similar to Agatha‘s tale except the perversion of the song to trick and murder other witches.
The implication about Tommy not being out there YET by Rio was cause Billy was carrying his soul deep inside, that’s why he had to find a body to put Tommy in, that’s why he sensed him because he was inside him. So the sigil protected Tommy as well from Wanda.

I think your interpretation of why "the truth is too awful" was entirely correct. That's what I thought it was. Especially the perversion of the ballad from a symbol of their love and connection to a song about power used to kill.
Is that maybe an in universe reason for ‘Nicholas Scratch’ to be a name for the devil? The song he spread became a call to die? Not something she would have intended but a good reason she’d be afraid to face him

Couple of random thoughts and observations 1-I liked the little character moment with Rio and Nicholas. When she comes to collect him, she points back to Agatha as if to tell him to say goodbye. Nicholas turns and kisses his mom before leaving. 2-By Jen surviving and getting her powers back, in a way, the myth of the Witches Road continues because she doesn’t know that Billy created it. 3-They seeded the whole Agatha created the ballad bcuz there was a moment when the group argued over whether it was “coven true” or coven two” and Agatha said with complete confidence it was “coven two” aka her and Nicholas. It was dismissed as not making sense, I think, by Jen. 4-Building off #3, the show ends with a coven of two: ghost Agatha and Billy. 5-I liked that the show didn’t really redeem Agatha, despite all the theories (mine and others) to the contrary. I mean we get why she behaves the way she does but the show doesn’t side step the fact she lured and killed witches to steal their power. She admits that killing the coven was her original plan.
Yeah I really liked 1 as well, it 100% made sense in Rio's character they gave her. 2 and 3 are both really good points that didn't occur to me. 3 I didn't think was odd because it is totally in Agathas character to be completely confident about something like that. And while 5 is true, it doesn't make a lot of sense imo that she brought the specific witches down to the basement for her coven. Because of the 4 of them, 1 was bound, 1 had no control over her power, 1 didn't use her power and 1 wasn't even a witch, so how was she supposed to absorb their power?
adding to the 5th point - we yes, still dont even see the first time her and Rio meet, just that, she PROMISED her firstborn, to get the darkhold, possibly even 70 years earlier, before she killed her mother, and mothers' coven (theory thats how she also got the purple, a deal with Rio - or - Rio had the darkhold, let Agatha use it, to get that power-taking spell, as a taste, which got her wanting the darkhold after, idk) - (also the sidepoint that we dont see her with the darkhold here. like maybe, that was the LIE - she JUST got the purple power, from Rio, and didnt actually trade for the darkhold - idk, and maybe Billy didnt fully read her mind, so she still cried over losing her kid, but thats why she still sees the darkhold, in place of her kid - as it shows it in his crib - DESPITE the fact he lived to be 6 years old, so even that vision didnt make sense). and as I was gonna say from the start - we still see her doing evil the whole time, but we at least see her stolen time with her kid, not even spending good times with him, but continuing to waste it doing that evil with him, the entire time.
And maybe Ghost Agatha is the only version of her that could be remotely trustworthy, assuming she's now incapable of absorbing witchy power. I wonder if they'll still have her as the nanny to Richard Reed and Susan Storm's kids, only now in ghost form.
@@StarkRG well, Rio promised her a death, as Agatha put it 'long long long time from now" - and Rio didnt alter that promise, and she was able, in that moment of pain, pick up her little pennant thing. so I would guess she isnt even fully dead. after a lifetime of picking up bodies for Rio, the power is there, after death lol.
After the finale, this song has a whole new meaning. This whole song is literally just the story of Nicholas and Agatha. Which s perfect cause the Road never existed. Nicholas and Agatha created this song as they just went... down down down the road....
I don't throw this word around lightly, but for me this series is a masterpiece. Brilliantly crafted with incredible characters, dialog and performances, Agatha All Along became one of my all-time favorite shows. Although I was hoping we might get a teaser of Wanda possibly returning, I love that Agatha has become a mentor to Billy like she was to Wanda in the comics. Thank you for the fantastic reaction to this extraordinary series!
@@StarkRG I doubt it. Much like the comics, I think Vision will simply build a new robotic family for himself. He may have some of his memories restored to him by Hex-Vision, but he’s an entirely new person. He’s essentially back at factory settings.
That's exactly what it was. Agatha tells Nicky he needs to get used to the feeling he has after they kill witches if he wants to survive. He got older, understood better what his mother meant and ran off mid hunt. When he saw how upset his mother was, he told her they could kill some witches tomorrow then walked off with Death willingily, knowing it was his time.
Billy did a Hex that gave people wishes, Jen got her power back, Alice got to break her curse, Lilia saved her Coven and got to live her life in order. I think Billy has good faith. Wanda on the other hand knowingly controlled people and got angry when they challenged her hex.

I mean he thought he could only read people he was close to. So how did he come up with trails, poisons, the tower, the jam session that he almost died from.
It's amazing to see that the moment Agatha knew that Teen is Billy is when the door appeared. She recognized the reality bending tendencies of a Maximoff feeling intense emotions - Wanda's Grief and Billy's fear of dying by the hands of the Salem Seven. Agatha knew All Along that she was navigating the illusion of Billy. She just snapped when Billy told her that he NOT would kill just to get what he want because he was unknowingly being a hypocrite. He was subconsciously killing them to further his journey.
I still don't entirely understand though, that if she knew all along, then why did she care so much for Billy in those first few trials before the reveal?
@@mr.penguin79probably because he reminded her of Nicholas. I feel like considering the reason Agatha fears death is because she’s afraid of facing Nicholas, keeping Billy alive is a way of having a sense of Nicholas there without needing to face him
I think like she said she wasn’t entirely SURE sure he was Billy until the end of episode 5. She wanted him to be Nicholas, and she thought he could be in episode 2 at least (random kid shows up to save her and starts asking her about “the road” 👀). Then I think even after she starts thinking it’s Billy, part of her still wants it to be Nicholas even though it’s not entirely rational. She only lets go of that idea once it’s been thoroughly disproven (by Rio, by Billy saying Nicholas’s name, by hearing her son’s voice). And by that point she had already started to give a shit about him as a person anyway
after 20 watchthroughs - I just realised as she was telling Nicholas she can't save him, she referred to the three powers of the modern coven - 'I can't heal you' (Jen) 'I can't protect you' (Alice) 'I can't divine when she will come' (lilia)
Agath's calculated risk was that if Rio promises not to see her she's destined to become a ghost and not move on -- AWESOME educated wish, Agatha! Now we get ghost Agatha just like the comics!!! I thought maybe he would banish her to the void but I'm okay with ghost Agatha for now. We need someone to babysit Franklin!
And just like the Comics... she likely won't be a ghost for very long... That said, Franklin seems to be getting born in the 60s, so she can't be that Franklin's babysitter but she is still babysitter for the Maximoff Twins like in the comics.
At the end of this, I am realizing what a great job Joe Locke did: understated at first but ebbing and flowing and always with such great chemistry with Kathryn. Interesting how he is a bit of a new generation: he immediately mourns his own actions and feels outward guilty in a way both Wanda and Agatha rationalized and pushed back.
Honestly, the reveal that the Road didn't exist and was just a recurring con Agatha used to steal more power adds new context as to why she was upset when she saw Jen's name on the list Lilia wrote, she knew Jen was bound (even if she didn't know that it was her spell that bound her) and thus she knew Jen wouldn't be able to supply her with power.
Wait i just realized that when trying to explain Nick that she can't create food (earth magic) she also says can't heal (potions), protect or divine. All witches needed a coven.
and for me, i think, hence why the scarlet witch is just a myth to witches and sorcerers because she is the embodiment of all these types of magic, not needing any incantation or coven to heal (when she was getting out of the mirror dimension), protect (her magic has auto pilot stated by agatha on wandavision, and also her auto magic shield during the fight at kamar taj), to create (the hex and her family), and to divine (dating back in age of ultron where she see ultrons true intentions of destroying earth), proving that the scarlet witch is very very powerful and on top of them
Billy created the road, but the results were their own. Alice cleared the curse, Lilia was freed from her own fear and avoidance, Jen was unbound. They did that themselves, the road merely gave them the opportunity. Finding out Agatha and Nicky created the legend, though, that was wild. It's fitting that in the end, the creators of the Witches' Road become a coven of their own. I do wonder if the Road can be accessed again now that it's existed once. Would Billy have to be present, or could anyone get there? Or will it remain a legend, accessible only once, with one known survivor? -------------------- I decided to watch because the promos were intriguing and I did enjoy Wandavision, so I figured why not? Damn, this was so good!
I feel like the road will only exist once because Billy created it. It’s sorta like the hex, it can’t just exist on its own because it needs to be created by the witch. I feel like someone with equal or comparable power could create a version of the road but the one we saw was completely based on Wiccan’s mind. That’s why he usually was the one to find the clue. But overall it’s just a myth
I think Agatha's early power grabs were initially to keep Nicky alive, but then it became more sinister and selfish after she lost him. I think Rio would have continued to give them more time together as long as she kept giving her bodies. Agatha says she can't cure Nicky's illness or divine when Death will come for him but, for me, it was clear that Agatha continually killing witches was keeping Death at bay. In the pub scene, we see Nicky is VERY ill, so they probably hadn't killed any witches in a while, but he consciously chose not to lure those witches to their deaths. As a result, both he and Agatha ran out of time. Later that night, I think Nicky telling Agatha, "We can kill more witches tomorrow, I promise" is more proof of this idea. I think he realized they had to keep killing witches to avoid his death, but he made it clear he didn't like doing it. I think the Death scene with Nicky implies he had accepted his fate because he went with Death willingly, with no hesitation. Looking back on Agatha's trial, when we hear Nicky's voice say, "Mama, stop," I think it's a reasonable interpretation that Nicky hoped his death would make his mother stop killing witches (because it was no longer necessary to keep him alive). Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect.
I fully agree with this take on Nicky. The thing that makes no sense to me is why Agatha keeps killing witches after he is dead. She is furious with Rio at that point, it would make more sense for her to cut off the supply of bodies to spite her.
I was starting to think of it as maybe Turning to drugs after a death. She always seemed like it was an addiction and it just felt like she was just giving in once he had passed 🤔

Just to add - The deal Agatha made with Rio in ep 8 is that when she does die, she doesn't want Rio involved, she doesn't want to 'see her face'. Agatha was betting on that deal to keep her around after death in some way, as Rio can't take her. She is equal parts madwoman, genius, charlatan, and cockroach. Like in Lilia's episode, she is the Chariot, rushing ever forward refusing to be stopped. The tarot also specified the thing missing was the truth, the very thing that ended up saving her from banishment by Billy.
@@wytheli I think it’s more that Rio hates ghosts because they are an affront to her station. Her function is to sever life when the time comes, and ferry the soul to its afterlife. Ghosts are souls that chose not to go to their assigned afterlife.

My interpretation of why anyone, specifically this little coven, finding out the truth of Nicky is worse than what anyone theorized is because it’s a simple lie(the road) that snowballed in gods knows how many deaths. Imagine if ALICE learned the truth. They are all lucky as hell that in the end Billy was able to give them what they wanted out off the road

A song that Agatha twisted by adding "Witch" so it would lure witches. Agatha wasn't protecting Nick, she was "feeding him." Alice would have found out that the song was a "hustle." That would have crushed her because she held on to that as an "out." Billy created that legend and "out."

This also explains why Agatha was fine with just dragging Sharon along. She was just looking for someone to stand there while she stole the witches' power.
A bit about why Lilia was seemingly the only one out of the MULTIPLE covens Agatha killed to mention how she wanted them to “blast her” is because Agatha herself told Lilia how her powers worked! (At least that’s what I think and makes sense)
Tommy's soul was hiding inside of Billy...that is why he "felt him" but couldn't find him. Agatha tells him that when she makes him remember as they sit on the floor in the basement. When she is also forcing him to deposit the unattached soul into the drowning boy but at the last moment when Billy asks if he is killing the boy to give his body to Tommy, the drowning boy pops up and starts breathing. Tommy's soul is released at that moment and Billy disappears, breaking the deal Agatha had with Rio to bring Billy to her. Deal over, Rio needs a soul to right the natural way of things, so she goes after Agatha instead. As Billy gets into Agatha's mind to ask if this is how Nicky died, she decides to have the final say and gets "the kiss of death" from Rio. As Agatha said in episode 2, if she tried to take Rio's power it would kill her so she could become a ghost and not "see Rio's face again". Agatha will remain a spirit bound to the earthly plain and since Rio can't take ghosts, she literally made the bargain happen without Billy having to die. The comics show Ghost Agatha spirit guiding Wanda later on, so it fits. What broke me was when Rio took Nicky and she didn't let Agatha say goodbye. Yeah, she knew his tine was coming but shit, let a witch get a farewell from her own solo creation 💔🖤
I think Rio not letting him say goodbye to her (while she was awake) is the sad reality of death coming for someone.. she did point to Agatha and he went back to give her a kiss while she was asleep and then he went to Rio, so she at least made the kindest gesture that she could, given the grave situation. But it was very symbolic 😞 you lay your heads down at night and can’t guarantee everyone will wake up so their final goodbye before they went to bed was it 😞😞😖😖😖😖 this was such a heartbreaking flashback and I love how they wrote it
I love this take but I took Rio taking Nicky at night differently. I viewed it as like mercy a little bit from Rio to Agatha. Can you imagine the scene if Agatha was awake. The begging and pleading and the anguish?? But I do love Rio being like no Nicky kiss mama goodbye first before you come with me. I also have seen people catch on with the two kisses from Nicky could be like him and Agatha is their “coven two” but also like a kiss goodbye from Nicky and from Rio and I’m unwell
There were a few bits where his accent either faltered or sounded slightly forced, but it's also true that each person has their own vocal quirks (the term is idiolect, essentially a personal accent).
Yeah, this show finally made me watch Heartstopper and I was blown away by how his two characters are so different. It's like I'm watching two different people when I switch between the two shows. YES, I know that's the point of acting... but the fact that I so rarely see that level of acting is kinda sad.
The sigil would’ve been in place when Wanda was looking for her kids and Tommy only existed inside Billy at the time that’s why he could sense him. Lilia gave him time but also caused the Multiverse of Madness to occur cause of the sigil 😂
It does suck to think Multiverse of Madness happened because of Lilia, but then again if it wasn’t for her maybe Death/Rio would’ve claimed Billy sooner and he wouldn’t have reincarnated. The sigil hid him from witchfolk, and Lilia did say that Rio was the original green witch. So thanks to the sigil she cast on William before he died, she also saved Billy and Tommy from death.
They supposed to grow plant in the last trial. Billy having the paper, Jennifer having water, and Agatha having the seed. But it didn't happen. The crack probably the road's way of making the trial fair for everyone like refilling the wine, having spare copy of the song after agatha destroyed the player, ceiling stops and proceed again only after Lilia figured out what she did wrong, and so on.
Omni, I know it’s been a while since we’ve watched WandaVision, but with Billy was a kid he couldn’t read her mind so the fact that he can now there’s a bond there now
i was hooked from the pitch but man was this whole show nerve wracking, i’ve been biting my nails episode to episode hoping the ball keeps rolling the right way and boy has it. rlly shut down all the haters on this one, or at least it would have if they actually watched the show 🙄
I honestly watched the first few episodes and didn't really like it, but I heard it got really good on the last 3 episodes and it didn't disappoint, glad I gave it a second chance

@allymofo2332 honestly after watching the penguin back to back it was just really disappointing to me, obviously I shouldn't compare them they're two very different shows, It was just not something I was really loving, plus right now I'm reading a bunch of comics and preferred doing that so I put the show off, might have to revisit the episodes now it's over
What a fantastic show! It made me instantly want to rewatch to see it all now knowing what's up. As for Lilia sussing out Agatha's plan. When they went to her to divine a coven and then for her to join, Agatha told her that she can't do anything unless she gets blasted. So this group went into it with that bit of vital info that the other covens didn't have.
I love that between Billy and Agatha we have a character clinging onto life for life’s sake, who sees life as the ultimate good, and a character running away from death not because she really wants to live, she just wants to die *less.*
Yeah, Billy is as powerful as Wanda. Possibly even more so. Unlimited potential. He can warp reality by accident. I hope they keep him present in future projects. He's my favourite from the comics and Joe Locke is shockingly talented.
Some things I noticed/realized because of these two episodes: 1) When Billy did Agatha's reading and pulled Seven of Swords, it was reversed. Meaning she was being honest and truthful. She had been since the beginning, she said the road was a myth. She never actually lied on the road, the closest she got was neither confirming or denying certain accusations. 2) Despite what some may think, this was all for Billy. Not Agatha. Lilia told Agatha to hit the deck when Death called her a coward, not to save Agatha, but to give Agatha the opportunity to sacrifice herself to save Billy and put them both on the path to finding Tommy. The fact that it was actually "Billy All Along" is actually incredibly fitting for the show in my opinion. Though it could also be interpreted as Agatha All Along in the sense that she was the originator of the myth of the road and created a con out of it, knew this, yet kept everyone believing it was real despite knowing Billy created the road. 3) (THIS IS LONG SORRY) Billy seemed to have also unknowingly created their trials tailored to each individual, seemingly tapping into their minds and what they knew without realizing it. Jen became a beauty guru and had legal action taken against her because her products caused injuries to people and she thought someone bound her that actually didn't, so her trial was overcoming a poison that distorted their faces(beauty), gave them hallucinations(believing what wasn't true), and eventual death.(inflicting pain/injuries on others) Alice's whole life was centered around the curse and her mother's cover of the Ballad, thus her trial was breaking the curse by playing her mother's version of the Ballad. Agatha's trial was about punishment, ghosts of the past, and death. She never suffered consequences for her crimes against her sisters in the craft, she refused to face those that she wronged and that wronged her, and she needed to face her history with Death. Therefore she needed to be punished for her cowardice and cruelty. Lilia's trial was tarot, but a reading for herself. She never embraced her powers and traded them for the life of a fraud. She needed to lay her life out on the table and face her greatest fears-- death and life themselves. The final trial was Billy's, though he actually wasn't there to complete it as he got what he wanted and was ejected, just like Jen. His trial was meant to represent the death of William and the rebirth of Billy. This is why they came in body bags and the goal was to grow new life, 4) Following up on Lilia's trial: Not only did the cards represent her and the coven, but they represented her journey. She needed to trust her power and show empathy to her coven.(Queen of Cups) She needed to embrace having a coven rather than avoid it.(Three of Pentacles) She needed to be brave and courageous to face her fears.(Knight of Wands) She had her powers the whole time, but was unwilling to use them.(High Priestess) She needed to accept her powers and come to terms with the fact she couldn't save her coven from Death.(Three of Swords) She had to accept her powers, which made her live her life out of sequence, which in a sense, is her transitioning from various points in her life.(The Tower Reversed) Finally, her life was so hyper focused on Death. She attempted to avoid it at all costs, she needed to accept it as a part of life and embrace it.(Death) 5) I don't buy the theory that Agatha was piling up bodies to extend Nicky's life. If the sacred balance was disturbed by Billy evading death and either him or Agatha needed to give themselves to her to right the balance, then why would it take hundreds, if not thousands, of Witches to keep that balance intact with Nicky? Perhaps there's a difference in keeping someone alive that Death is allowing to temporarily live versus someone who has evaded Death. Though I believe that Agatha had always been killing witches and taking their power and Nicky just enabled her to do so even more. That's why the truth is much worse than her trading him for the Darkhold, because instead of spending their time together as most mothers and sons do, she was using that time to kill witches and get stronger. I believe the fact that he died the night they didn't kill witches is just a coincidence, I'm sure there were days where they didn't kill any witches otherwise six whole years of daily witch killing would be insane amounts of bodies for Death. I just think it was his time and he subconsciously knew this and wanted to spend the time with his mother rather than killing witches.
This is a great analysis. I'd like to add that Jen and Billy vanishing from the road brings up an issue. The final trial wasn't complete yet. If witches vanish from the road once they get what they need from it- regardless of whether or not the road is complete- then neither Alice nor Lilia should have died. They both got what they were after BEFORE they died and should have been vanished off the road. Alice should have been swept away once her curse was lifted and Lilia once her tarot was complete. They both came into their own and accepted that what they were lacking had been made whole. If Jen and Billy got to exit the road once their goals were complete, without finishing the Earth trial, why not Alice and Lilia?
@@EveryThing-z6k Yeah that's an inconsistency I was thinking about. Unless they were denied exit from the road because they were meant to die on the road. That was their fate and the road knew that and didn't let them go.
It always takes me different perspectives from different channels to kind of come up with what is going down with these shows. I watched new Rockstars and reel rejects but it wasn’t until yours but now I understand that because Agatha knew her time with Nicholas was limited that every day was precious so although her nature was to always steal the power of the witches and collect bodies for death every moment with Nicolas was precious to her so when he died, that was her breaking point
The Wizard of Oz parallels are brilliant! They were all essentially ‘off to see the wizard’, but the wizard and the Emerald City itself were both a lie. The wizard didn’t have the ability to grant their wishes and the city only looked the way it did because he tricked the citizens into wearing emerald tinted glasses. He was a con man. We have the ‘wicked’ witch of the West(view), but our witch of the East(view) is a bad witch too. Like our book heroes the things they were ‘missing’ were really there all along- (Alice broke her own curse after finally believing it was real/Lila always had the power just lack the understanding to wield it/and I think Jen bound herself unintentionally and Agatha gave her ‘courage’ to unlock it). Even with Tommy, he’s Billy’s twin, of course their souls are connected, particularly the way they were made. Definitely a shoe analogy with claiming power at the end there. Anything I’ve missed?

She was not expecting to reap Agatha and now she’s heartbroken. I saw something on social media that was like “I bet Rio is regretting the joke about wanting Agatha horizontal…in a grave” at this moment and damn 😭
I do agree with your thoughts about Agatha killing other witches as an exchange to prolong Nickolas' life. An equal exchange for someone who has a due. Agatha failed to deliver the body so Rio now need to do her job as Death.
I think she had to keep killing to keep Nicky alive. Because he was meant to die, she kept providing bodies for Death so she wouldn’t come for Nicky. The day he ran away and they didn’t kill any witches is the day Death came for him. But then she kept killing….so yeah, maybe she has to top up to keep her magick?
I dont think that was the case. That would mean she had to kill a witch or group of witches every single night for six years. There's no way people would not have caught on after a week or month of doing that anywhere she stayed. Like that small town they were living in somebody would've been said hold the hell on after realizing 30 people at minimum are gone lol. Either that or she wouldve ran out of witches altogether. Mind you by saying the ONE day they didnt, implies they had to do it everyday.
Death's gift to Agatha was to give her more time with her son and I think the reason why Wanda couldn't sense Billy was because of the sigil it even affected her
The Sigil stopped Wanda from seeing Billy and she did hear Tommy in the post credits scene of Wandavision but I guess the Darkhold didn’t give her anything useful to save him and pointed her in the multiverse direction
She heard both, but from different universe that leads Wanda explored the multiverse because Billy and Tommy is in other universe. its just darkhold making her go break all rules. Sigil kept both Billy and Tommy safe because Billy is holding Tommy's soul hostage (like it's basically part of him at the time), so other witches cannot find neither of them in this universe.
I wanted to wait to watch to comment, but I will say early that this show has really brought my pet peeve with people not understanding character development. Outside the fact good and evil don't actually exist, people claim to understand things that happens to people in real life and their reactions do said things don't make them good or evil, yet in stories they still try to bog it down to that, especially when they already want to paint someone that way in their minds. Agatha is new prime example #1 of this. Born with essentially a deformation, a victim of endless abuse by loved ones who try to murder her and wage a campaign to smear her she already has to struggle to find normalcy let alone happiness. She breaks finally and gives into to "giving the people what they asked for" and treat them back the way they saw her as out of bitterness and anger (which is the mask hides over sadness) and out of a sense of justice seeing people as not as good as they claim to justify any action she wishes to do back towards them because being kind when it mattered meant nothing to them. She finally gets to have something that might bring her happiness and it's threatened to be taken too. She get more time with it, but eventually it's still gone. And when it's all done, all she left with is people making a mockery of the last and most important symbol you shared with the lost loved one. Turning into legend of their own desires. So she again gives the people what they wanted. She's not "evil" but she has given into justifying cruelty for cruelty given to her. She's given up, even though she occasionally drops the acts and shows she still actually would care if someone gave her something to believe in. Agatha is a person who faith was utterly broken.
It wasn’t the life she wanted rather the only way she knew to survive. I really felt that dis allusion with the reality of the world- goodness doesn’t protect you
I don’t think Agatha was “born evil”, but she chose to perform evil acts against innocent witches for centuries so I can’t fault anyone who puts her in the evil category at this point. Her original coven betrayed her, but the other witches she met over the years treated her with kindness and she still chose to kill them. Agatha didn’t have to remain coven less she chose to be. Jen was bound, Alice lost her mother and dealt with a generational curse and Lilia had to deal with losing her coven, jumping through time, seeing deaths she couldn’t stop and being seen as crazy. They all suffered but didn’t take it out on the world like Agatha did. She’s one of the most interesting mcu characters to me after learning about her backstory because I genuinely feel sorry for her, but at the same time I can’t excuse her awful actions.

Nihilistic and apathetic (or the mask of apathy to avoid feeling anything else about her actions) except in those times when she drops the act or she's alone and she can be vulnerable (like in the Chamber when she's talking to herself, about "Boys just die sometimes..."). The contrast is right there with the people who trick the boy and he drowns. Those people aren't going to call themselves evil and they aren't going to act like it and they might care or they might not and they will call it an accident, but it was still born of cruelty. Even then, it doesn't matter why it happened, sometimes things happen and it doesn't matter how much "good" or "evil" you commit. Agatha is Apathy.
I agree with this idea i mean it sorta reminds me of what Lilia said before she came around, "It's better to be a hermit, to be a fraud." She just spent so long trying to find peace or happiness and she lost it and others believed her and Nicks song was something they could use to solve their problems which she then used to her advantage because no one would believe her and she stopped trying until others saw there was more to her
She might not be "evil" but she's definitely a villain. And even at the end of the story, I wouldn't go as far as calling her anything but a villain, don't think she's at anti-hero yet. And I'm glad. It would have been easy to give her the Loki-treatment, have it end with her seeing all her wrongs and become better. But where with Loki we had many movies slowly pushing him there, Agatha we only knew for 1 show. So I'm glad they didn't rush to her becoming a good person. She's still a bad person, who did a lot of evil actions but in that one moment chose to go against that to save Billy, which she almost didn't do.
I feel like she wants ppl to think those awful theories about her son because it’s much easier to stomach than the truth; he was never meant to live. Accusing her of sacrificing him implies that he was meant to live a full life and she took that. But the sad truth is that he was not meant to live an hour, let alone the 6yrs she was able to buy at the cost of other witches😭😭😭 I feel like her taking the lives of other witches gave Rio a soul to reap in exchange for his. She’d come every night and reap the dead. But on that final night there was no dead to reap so she could finally claim the one she was meant to claim 6yrs prior😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Agatha and Wanda both suffered so much. I wonder if they will ever see that in each other, even for a very brief passing moment of respect
I wish we had seen more of this, but reading between the lines i think the implication really is that agatha killing all those witches nonstop was her appeasing rio, wordlessly begging for more time. "its how we survive".
12:44 Wands couldn’t find Billy or Tommy’s souls because Lilia cast the Sigil, hiding them both from Witch-Kind (Since it seems that Tommy was hitching a ride with Billy in Williams body since twins are known to share the same soul. Billy just had to let go of his brother’s soul in order for him to reincarnate and push him towards an empty vessel). So during/before the events of Multiverse of Madness, Wanda couldn’t find them even as she searched the other Multiverses. That or she assumed that they didn’t exist in the current universe and didn’t look. Makes more sense with the Sigil theory.
This is such a brilliant show because now that it's over. There is so much dialogue, double meaning, layered and in-depth narrative that this show requires multiple viewings to catch it all. A lot of Agathas dialogue is now so obvious but cleverly hidden. God this show is brilliant.

I think Coy said something like this about why agatha let's people think she sacrificed her child: because it's easier to let them think you had a say in it and you did it for power than admitting you were powerless and relive that moment
that part where she shouted to the growth lights she needs more time to grow the flower is the same thing she shouted to rio when nick was born and when nick was taken. So when she shouted for more time to avoid her son’s death in this she shouted for more time for the flower to bloom or at this point “live” to grow unlike nick . If that makes any sense
It was Agatha all along. The road, the lies, etc... It's an interesting meaning. Also, the other titles make sense. "Coven of Chaos" like... Her coven literally his only made of the son of the Scarlet Witch.
Apologies if someone already said this and I missed it, but I think the reason Agatha prefers the lie is because it protects her. Just like she feeds off witches for power to protect herself from external threats, she feeds off their hatred and warped perception of her to bolster the wall around her heart. It’s only when Billy shows up sees her as anything but a monster that her feelings start to break free and we can see just how much pain she is still in 270 years later. That’s what I think is more terrible than the lie, having to face her pain.

Because it reminds her of the fact that she actually has emotions. She would prefer that people think that she would sacrifice her own child for power. 23:09 - yes, Lilia went back, and met Rio, when she first fell - and in the right order of consciousness, right before she sacrificed herself (possibly when she also went into the future to see Agatha needed to duck, in order to survive long enough for Billy to convince her to go to Rio so he can live).

Nah you're right dude, the visual of Billy just driving away when his birth mom literally FLEW out of town is hilarious. I liked the show quite a bit, a very pleasant surprise.
People forget that Wanda created herself (Billy) and her brother (Tommy) so it makes sense that Billy is just like his mother, that was how he was created, in the image of his mother.
I hope there's a second season or that we see Billy and Agatha again. I want more of them. There are still questions I have that I hope are eventually answered... How did Agatha and Rio meet? How did she get the Darkhold? In her hallucination, she saw the book inside Nicky's crib but that isn't what actually happened.
There will be no second seasonl. This is part 2 of the WandaVision trilogy. The next part is VisionQuest. I am sure that's where Tommy will be revealed and we will see more of Wiccan.
I’m wondering why Agatha told Lily about how her powers worked. That’s the only reason Lily knew in the end. Or if that was just an act of desperation to get her there to complete the coven. Like, “well, SHE won’t attack, but the others should.”
The thing is with Agatha's siphoning power is that for "lesser" witches like Alice (less powerful witches) its like drinking a soda comparatively to the maximoffs which are like bang energy drinks for her
What’s really sad to me (besides literally everything that is sad about this show) is that Billy was so excited about everything which related and the road. But it was just him unconsciously doing it, and then unknowingly leading 3 women to their deaths. It’s going to be interesting seeing how people use that against him in the future, because you could argue that he didn’t actually kill anyone because Sharon died cause the witches forgot her hair, Alice died from Agatha taking her powers, and Lilia sacrificed herself. But you could also just say the road killed them which was Billy’s creation. Definitely an interesting discussion and one I hope comes back to his character in the future. Also the other thing I just thought of is how much pressure will be on Billy. Word will have to get out about him being the son of the Scarlet Witch, and I feel like people could easily expect him to be as powerful as her but also fearful of his power because of what Wanda did. And it will be interesting to see him deal with that pressure. I’m just really excited to see Billy’s character

In a weird way, Lorna Wu’s version is the most true to the original. A song representing the love of a mother to her child. She even made it a protection spell to prevent the curse affecting her, shielding her from death and spread it. It is similar to Agatha‘s tale except the perversion of the song to trick and murder other witches.

The implication about Tommy not being out there YET by Rio was cause Billy was carrying his soul deep inside, that’s why he had to find a body to put Tommy in, that’s why he sensed him because he was inside him. So the sigil protected Tommy as well from Wanda.

I think your interpretation of why "the truth is too awful" was entirely correct. That's what I thought it was. Especially the perversion of the ballad from a symbol of their love and connection to a song about power used to kill.
Is that maybe an in universe reason for ‘Nicholas Scratch’ to be a name for the devil? The song he spread became a call to die? Not something she would have intended but a good reason she’d be afraid to face him

Couple of random thoughts and observations
1-I liked the little character moment with Rio and Nicholas. When she comes to collect him, she points back to Agatha as if to tell him to say goodbye. Nicholas turns and kisses his mom before leaving.
2-By Jen surviving and getting her powers back, in a way, the myth of the Witches Road continues because she doesn’t know that Billy created it.
3-They seeded the whole Agatha created the ballad bcuz there was a moment when the group argued over whether it was “coven true” or coven two” and Agatha said with complete confidence it was “coven two” aka her and Nicholas. It was dismissed as not making sense, I think, by Jen.
4-Building off #3, the show ends with a coven of two: ghost Agatha and Billy.
5-I liked that the show didn’t really redeem Agatha, despite all the theories (mine and others) to the contrary. I mean we get why she behaves the way she does but the show doesn’t side step the fact she lured and killed witches to steal their power. She admits that killing the coven was her original plan.
Yeah I really liked 1 as well, it 100% made sense in Rio's character they gave her.
2 and 3 are both really good points that didn't occur to me. 3 I didn't think was odd because it is totally in Agathas character to be completely confident about something like that.
And while 5 is true, it doesn't make a lot of sense imo that she brought the specific witches down to the basement for her coven. Because of the 4 of them, 1 was bound, 1 had no control over her power, 1 didn't use her power and 1 wasn't even a witch, so how was she supposed to absorb their power?

adding to the 5th point - we yes, still dont even see the first time her and Rio meet, just that, she PROMISED her firstborn, to get the darkhold, possibly even 70 years earlier, before she killed her mother, and mothers' coven (theory thats how she also got the purple, a deal with Rio - or - Rio had the darkhold, let Agatha use it, to get that power-taking spell, as a taste, which got her wanting the darkhold after, idk) -
(also the sidepoint that we dont see her with the darkhold here. like maybe, that was the LIE - she JUST got the purple power, from Rio, and didnt actually trade for the darkhold - idk, and maybe Billy didnt fully read her mind, so she still cried over losing her kid, but thats why she still sees the darkhold, in place of her kid - as it shows it in his crib - DESPITE the fact he lived to be 6 years old, so even that vision didnt make sense).
and as I was gonna say from the start - we still see her doing evil the whole time, but we at least see her stolen time with her kid, not even spending good times with him, but continuing to waste it doing that evil with him, the entire time.
And maybe Ghost Agatha is the only version of her that could be remotely trustworthy, assuming she's now incapable of absorbing witchy power. I wonder if they'll still have her as the nanny to Richard Reed and Susan Storm's kids, only now in ghost form.

I just loved that Agatha All Along wasn't just a title chosen to call back to WandaVision. It turns out it _was_ Agatha all along.
I don't throw this word around lightly, but for me this series is a masterpiece. Brilliantly crafted with incredible characters, dialog and performances, Agatha All Along became one of my all-time favorite shows. Although I was hoping we might get a teaser of Wanda possibly returning, I love that Agatha has become a mentor to Billy like she was to Wanda in the comics. Thank you for the fantastic reaction to this extraordinary series!
I think, if anyone's going to bring Wanda back, it has to be Vision.
@@StarkRG I doubt it. Much like the comics, I think Vision will simply build a new robotic family for himself. He may have some of his memories restored to him by Hex-Vision, but he’s an entirely new person. He’s essentially back at factory settings.

That's exactly what it was. Agatha tells Nicky he needs to get used to the feeling he has after they kill witches if he wants to survive.
He got older, understood better what his mother meant and ran off mid hunt. When he saw how upset his mother was, he told her they could kill some witches tomorrow then walked off with Death willingily, knowing it was his time.

It's amazing to see that the moment Agatha knew that Teen is Billy is when the door appeared. She recognized the reality bending tendencies of a Maximoff feeling intense emotions - Wanda's Grief and Billy's fear of dying by the hands of the Salem Seven. Agatha knew All Along that she was navigating the illusion of Billy. She just snapped when Billy told her that he NOT would kill just to get what he want because he was unknowingly being a hypocrite. He was subconsciously killing them to further his journey.

I think like she said she wasn’t entirely SURE sure he was Billy until the end of episode 5. She wanted him to be Nicholas, and she thought he could be in episode 2 at least (random kid shows up to save her and starts asking her about “the road” 👀). Then I think even after she starts thinking it’s Billy, part of her still wants it to be Nicholas even though it’s not entirely rational. She only lets go of that idea once it’s been thoroughly disproven (by Rio, by Billy saying Nicholas’s name, by hearing her son’s voice). And by that point she had already started to give a shit about him as a person anyway

Agath's calculated risk was that if Rio promises not to see her she's destined to become a ghost and not move on -- AWESOME educated wish, Agatha! Now we get ghost Agatha just like the comics!!! I thought maybe he would banish her to the void but I'm okay with ghost Agatha for now. We need someone to babysit Franklin!
And just like the Comics... she likely won't be a ghost for very long...
That said, Franklin seems to be getting born in the 60s, so she can't be that Franklin's babysitter but she is still babysitter for the Maximoff Twins like in the comics.
At the end of this, I am realizing what a great job Joe Locke did: understated at first but ebbing and flowing and always with such great chemistry with Kathryn. Interesting how he is a bit of a new generation: he immediately mourns his own actions and feels outward guilty in a way both Wanda and Agatha rationalized and pushed back.
Honestly, the reveal that the Road didn't exist and was just a recurring con Agatha used to steal more power adds new context as to why she was upset when she saw Jen's name on the list Lilia wrote, she knew Jen was bound (even if she didn't know that it was her spell that bound her) and thus she knew Jen wouldn't be able to supply her with power.
Also she knew the road wouldn't work on Sharon or Rio which is why she didn't want them
Wait i just realized that when trying to explain Nick that she can't create food (earth magic) she also says can't heal (potions), protect or divine. All witches needed a coven.
She's a spirit witch. But spirit is hollow without earth, water, fire and air. They complete each other.
and for me, i think, hence why the scarlet witch is just a myth to witches and sorcerers because she is the embodiment of all these types of magic, not needing any incantation or coven to heal (when she was getting out of the mirror dimension), protect (her magic has auto pilot stated by agatha on wandavision, and also her auto magic shield during the fight at kamar taj), to create (the hex and her family), and to divine (dating back in age of ultron where she see ultrons true intentions of destroying earth), proving that the scarlet witch is very very powerful and on top of them

Billy created the road, but the results were their own. Alice cleared the curse, Lilia was freed from her own fear and avoidance, Jen was unbound. They did that themselves, the road merely gave them the opportunity.
Finding out Agatha and Nicky created the legend, though, that was wild.
It's fitting that in the end, the creators of the Witches' Road become a coven of their own.
I do wonder if the Road can be accessed again now that it's existed once. Would Billy have to be present, or could anyone get there?
Or will it remain a legend, accessible only once, with one known survivor?

I feel like the road will only exist once because Billy created it. It’s sorta like the hex, it can’t just exist on its own because it needs to be created by the witch. I feel like someone with equal or comparable power could create a version of the road but the one we saw was completely based on Wiccan’s mind. That’s why he usually was the one to find the clue. But overall it’s just a myth

Technically 3 survivors now. But who knows if this will become part of the myth. Jenn has no idea that Billy manifested the road.
I think Agatha's early power grabs were initially to keep Nicky alive, but then it became more sinister and selfish after she lost him. I think Rio would have continued to give them more time together as long as she kept giving her bodies. Agatha says she can't cure Nicky's illness or divine when Death will come for him but, for me, it was clear that Agatha continually killing witches was keeping Death at bay.
In the pub scene, we see Nicky is VERY ill, so they probably hadn't killed any witches in a while, but he consciously chose not to lure those witches to their deaths. As a result, both he and Agatha ran out of time. Later that night, I think Nicky telling Agatha, "We can kill more witches tomorrow, I promise" is more proof of this idea. I think he realized they had to keep killing witches to avoid his death, but he made it clear he didn't like doing it. I think the Death scene with Nicky implies he had accepted his fate because he went with Death willingly, with no hesitation.
Looking back on Agatha's trial, when we hear Nicky's voice say, "Mama, stop," I think it's a reasonable interpretation that Nicky hoped his death would make his mother stop killing witches (because it was no longer necessary to keep him alive). Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect.
I fully agree with this take on Nicky. The thing that makes no sense to me is why Agatha keeps killing witches after he is dead. She is furious with Rio at that point, it would make more sense for her to cut off the supply of bodies to spite her.
I was starting to think of it as maybe Turning to drugs after a death. She always seemed like it was an addiction and it just felt like she was just giving in once he had passed 🤔

Just to add - The deal Agatha made with Rio in ep 8 is that when she does die, she doesn't want Rio involved, she doesn't want to 'see her face'. Agatha was betting on that deal to keep her around after death in some way, as Rio can't take her. She is equal parts madwoman, genius, charlatan, and cockroach.
Like in Lilia's episode, she is the Chariot, rushing ever forward refusing to be stopped. The tarot also specified the thing missing was the truth, the very thing that ended up saving her from banishment by Billy.
also Rio hates ghosts. bet Rio wont be interested in seeing her as ghost anyway. lol

Her function is to sever life when the time comes, and ferry the soul to its afterlife. Ghosts are souls that chose not to go to their assigned afterlife.

My interpretation of why anyone, specifically this little coven, finding out the truth of Nicky is worse than what anyone theorized is because it’s a simple lie(the road) that snowballed in gods knows how many deaths. That would have crushed her because she held on to that as an "out." Billy created that legend and "out."

We did see Rio interacting with Lilya in the 8th episode, that was her claiming Lilya, not just informing her who she truly was.

A bit about why Lilia was seemingly the only one out of the MULTIPLE covens Agatha killed to mention how she wanted them to “blast her” is because Agatha herself told Lilia how her powers worked! (At least that’s what I think and makes sense)
Tommy's soul was hiding inside of Billy...that is why he "felt him" but couldn't find him. Agatha tells him that when she makes him remember as they sit on the floor in the basement. When she is also forcing him to deposit the unattached soul into the drowning boy but at the last moment when Billy asks if he is killing the boy to give his body to Tommy, the drowning boy pops up and starts breathing. Tommy's soul is released at that moment and Billy disappears, breaking the deal Agatha had with Rio to bring Billy to her. Deal over, Rio needs a soul to right the natural way of things, so she goes after Agatha instead. As Billy gets into Agatha's mind to ask if this is how Nicky died, she decides to have the final say and gets "the kiss of death" from Rio. As Agatha said in episode 2, if she tried to take Rio's power it would kill her so she could become a ghost and not "see Rio's face again". Agatha will remain a spirit bound to the earthly plain and since Rio can't take ghosts, she literally made the bargain happen without Billy having to die. The comics show Ghost Agatha spirit guiding Wanda later on, so it fits. What broke me was when Rio took Nicky and she didn't let Agatha say goodbye. Yeah, she knew his tine was coming but shit, let a witch get a farewell from her own solo creation 💔🖤
I think Rio not letting him say goodbye to her (while she was awake) is the sad reality of death coming for someone.. she did point to Agatha and he went back to give her a kiss while she was asleep and then he went to Rio, so she at least made the kindest gesture that she could, given the grave situation. But it was very symbolic 😞 you lay your heads down at night and can’t guarantee everyone will wake up so their final goodbye before they went to bed was it 😞😞😖😖😖😖 this was such a heartbreaking flashback and I love how they wrote it
I love this take but I took Rio taking Nicky at night differently.
I viewed it as like mercy a little bit from Rio to Agatha. Can you imagine the scene if Agatha was awake. The begging and pleading and the anguish??
But I do love Rio being like no Nicky kiss mama goodbye first before you come with me. I also have seen people catch on with the two kisses from Nicky could be like him and Agatha is their “coven two” but also like a kiss goodbye from Nicky and from Rio and I’m unwell
I love Heartstopper, Joe is amazing in that show. He really wow'd me more in this show. Even his American accent was amazing. He's very talented.
There were a few bits where his accent either faltered or sounded slightly forced, but it's also true that each person has their own vocal quirks (the term is idiolect, essentially a personal accent).
Yeah, this show finally made me watch Heartstopper and I was blown away by how his two characters are so different. It's like I'm watching two different people when I switch between the two shows. YES, I know that's the point of acting... but the fact that I so rarely see that level of acting is kinda sad.
He is also a fantastic singer. We see a little bit of that at the beginning of episode 6. I wish he got to sing more on the show.
The sigil would’ve been in place when Wanda was looking for her kids and Tommy only existed inside Billy at the time that’s why he could sense him. Lilia gave him time but also caused the Multiverse of Madness to occur cause of the sigil 😂

It does suck to think Multiverse of Madness happened because of Lilia, but then again if it wasn’t for her maybe Death/Rio would’ve claimed Billy sooner and he wouldn’t have reincarnated. The sigil hid him from witchfolk, and Lilia did say that Rio was the original green witch. So thanks to the sigil she cast on William before he died, she also saved Billy and Tommy from death.

They supposed to grow plant in the last trial. Billy having the paper, Jennifer having water, and Agatha having the seed. But it didn't happen. The crack probably the road's way of making the trial fair for everyone like refilling the wine, having spare copy of the song after agatha destroyed the player, ceiling stops and proceed again only after Lilia figured out what she did wrong, and so on.

i was hooked from the pitch but man was this whole show nerve wracking, i’ve been biting my nails episode to episode hoping the ball keeps rolling the right way and boy has it. rlly shut down all the haters on this one, or at least it would have if they actually watched the show 🙄
I honestly watched the first few episodes and didn't really like it, but I heard it got really good on the last 3 episodes and it didn't disappoint, glad I gave it a second chance

As for Lilia sussing out Agatha's plan. When they went to her to divine a coven and then for her to join, Agatha told her that she can't do anything unless she gets blasted. So this group went into it with that bit of vital info that the other covens didn't have.

I love that between Billy and Agatha we have a character clinging onto life for life’s sake, who sees life as the ultimate good, and a character running away from death not because she really wants to live, she just wants to die *less.*

The ending was very coherent from Agatha, a 10 for the series, the best ending after Loki 2 and Wandavision and of course💜💜💚❤️

Yeah, Billy is as powerful as Wanda. Possibly even more so. Unlimited potential. He can warp reality by accident. I hope they keep him present in future projects. He's my favourite from the comics and Joe Locke is shockingly talented.
Hope isn't necessary. All we need is Tommy and Hulkling and it's Young Avengers assemble time.

Billy's power in the future = demiurge
Lilia saying to Jen "You are the future." makes a lot more sense now.
Some things I noticed/realized because of these two episodes:
1) When Billy did Agatha's reading and pulled Seven of Swords, it was reversed. Meaning she was being honest and truthful. She had been since the beginning, she said the road was a myth. She never actually lied on the road, the closest she got was neither confirming or denying certain accusations.
2) Despite what some may think, this was all for Billy. Not Agatha. Lilia told Agatha to hit the deck when Death called her a coward, not to save Agatha, but to give Agatha the opportunity to sacrifice herself to save Billy and put them both on the path to finding Tommy. The fact that it was actually "Billy All Along" is actually incredibly fitting for the show in my opinion. Though it could also be interpreted as Agatha All Along in the sense that she was the originator of the myth of the road and created a con out of it, knew this, yet kept everyone believing it was real despite knowing Billy created the road.
3) (THIS IS LONG SORRY) Billy seemed to have also unknowingly created their trials tailored to each individual, seemingly tapping into their minds and what they knew without realizing it. Jen became a beauty guru and had legal action taken against her because her products caused injuries to people and she thought someone bound her that actually didn't, so her trial was overcoming a poison that distorted their faces(beauty), gave them hallucinations(believing what wasn't true), and eventual death.(inflicting pain/injuries on others) Alice's whole life was centered around the curse and her mother's cover of the Ballad, thus her trial was breaking the curse by playing her mother's version of the Ballad. Agatha's trial was about punishment, ghosts of the past, and death. She never suffered consequences for her crimes against her sisters in the craft, she refused to face those that she wronged and that wronged her, and she needed to face her history with Death. Therefore she needed to be punished for her cowardice and cruelty. Lilia's trial was tarot, but a reading for herself. She never embraced her powers and traded them for the life of a fraud. She needed to lay her life out on the table and face her greatest fears-- death and life themselves. The final trial was Billy's, though he actually wasn't there to complete it as he got what he wanted and was ejected, just like Jen. His trial was meant to represent the death of William and the rebirth of Billy. This is why they came in body bags and the goal was to grow new life,
4) Following up on Lilia's trial: Not only did the cards represent her and the coven, but they represented her journey. She needed to trust her power and show empathy to her coven.(Queen of Cups) She needed to embrace having a coven rather than avoid it.(Three of Pentacles) She needed to be brave and courageous to face her fears.(Knight of Wands) She had her powers the whole time, but was unwilling to use them.(High Priestess) She needed to accept her powers and come to terms with the fact she couldn't save her coven from Death.(Three of Swords) She had to accept her powers, which made her live her life out of sequence, which in a sense, is her transitioning from various points in her life.(The Tower Reversed) Finally, her life was so hyper focused on Death. She attempted to avoid it at all costs, she needed to accept it as a part of life and embrace it.(Death)
5) I don't buy the theory that Agatha was piling up bodies to extend Nicky's life. If the sacred balance was disturbed by Billy evading death and either him or Agatha needed to give themselves to her to right the balance, then why would it take hundreds, if not thousands, of Witches to keep that balance intact with Nicky? Perhaps there's a difference in keeping someone alive that Death is allowing to temporarily live versus someone who has evaded Death. Though I believe that Agatha had always been killing witches and taking their power and Nicky just enabled her to do so even more. That's why the truth is much worse than her trading him for the Darkhold, because instead of spending their time together as most mothers and sons do, she was using that time to kill witches and get stronger. I believe the fact that he died the night they didn't kill witches is just a coincidence, I'm sure there were days where they didn't kill any witches otherwise six whole years of daily witch killing would be insane amounts of bodies for Death. I just think it was his time and he subconsciously knew this and wanted to spend the time with his mother rather than killing witches.
This is a great analysis. I'd like to add that Jen and Billy vanishing from the road brings up an issue. The final trial wasn't complete yet. If witches vanish from the road once they get what they need from it- regardless of whether or not the road is complete- then neither Alice nor Lilia should have died. They both got what they were after BEFORE they died and should have been vanished off the road. Alice should have been swept away once her curse was lifted and Lilia once her tarot was complete. They both came into their own and accepted that what they were lacking had been made whole. If Jen and Billy got to exit the road once their goals were complete, without finishing the Earth trial, why not Alice and Lilia?
@@EveryThing-z6k Yeah that's an inconsistency I was thinking about. Unless they were denied exit from the road because they were meant to die on the road. That was their fate and the road knew that and didn't let them go.
It always takes me different perspectives from different channels to kind of come up with what is going down with these shows. I watched new Rockstars and reel rejects but it wasn’t until yours but now I understand that because Agatha knew her time with Nicholas was limited that every day was precious so although her nature was to always steal the power of the witches and collect bodies for death every moment with Nicolas was precious to her so when he died, that was her breaking point

The Wizard of Oz parallels are brilliant! They were all essentially ‘off to see the wizard’, but the wizard and the Emerald City itself were both a lie. The wizard didn’t have the ability to grant their wishes and the city only looked the way it did because he tricked the citizens into wearing emerald tinted glasses. He was a con man. We have the ‘wicked’ witch of the West(view), but our witch of the East(view) is a bad witch too. Like our book heroes the things they were ‘missing’ were really there all along- (Alice broke her own curse after finally believing it was real/Lila always had the power just lack the understanding to wield it/and I think Jen bound herself unintentionally and Agatha gave her ‘courage’ to unlock it). Even with Tommy, he’s Billy’s twin, of course their souls are connected, particularly the way they were made. Definitely a shoe analogy with claiming power at the end there. Anything I’ve missed?

Agatha failed to deliver the body so Rio now need to do her job as Death.
I think she had to keep killing to keep Nicky alive. Because he was meant to die, she kept providing bodies for Death so she wouldn’t come for Nicky.
The day he ran away and they didn’t kill any witches is the day Death came for him.
But then she kept killing….so yeah, maybe she has to top up to keep her magick?

I dont think that was the case. That would mean she had to kill a witch or group of witches every single night for six years. There's no way people would not have caught on after a week or month of doing that anywhere she stayed. Like that small town they were living in somebody would've been said hold the hell on after realizing 30 people at minimum are gone lol. Either that or she wouldve ran out of witches altogether. Mind you by saying the ONE day they didnt, implies they had to do it everyday.
Death's gift to Agatha was to give her more time with her son and I think the reason why Wanda couldn't sense Billy was because of the sigil it even affected her
The Sigil stopped Wanda from seeing Billy and she did hear Tommy in the post credits scene of Wandavision but I guess the Darkhold didn’t give her anything useful to save him and pointed her in the multiverse direction
She heard both, but from different universe that leads Wanda explored the multiverse because Billy and Tommy is in other universe. its just darkhold making her go break all rules. Sigil kept both Billy and Tommy safe because Billy is holding Tommy's soul hostage (like it's basically part of him at the time), so other witches cannot find neither of them in this universe.
I wanted to wait to watch to comment, but I will say early that this show has really brought my pet peeve with people not understanding character development. Outside the fact good and evil don't actually exist, people claim to understand things that happens to people in real life and their reactions do said things don't make them good or evil, yet in stories they still try to bog it down to that, especially when they already want to paint someone that way in their minds.
Agatha is new prime example #1 of this. Born with essentially a deformation, a victim of endless abuse by loved ones who try to murder her and wage a campaign to smear her she already has to struggle to find normalcy let alone happiness. She breaks finally and gives into to "giving the people what they asked for" and treat them back the way they saw her as out of bitterness and anger (which is the mask hides over sadness) and out of a sense of justice seeing people as not as good as they claim to justify any action she wishes to do back towards them because being kind when it mattered meant nothing to them.
She finally gets to have something that might bring her happiness and it's threatened to be taken too. She get more time with it, but eventually it's still gone. And when it's all done, all she left with is people making a mockery of the last and most important symbol you shared with the lost loved one. Turning into legend of their own desires.
So she again gives the people what they wanted.
She's not "evil" but she has given into justifying cruelty for cruelty given to her. She's given up, even though she occasionally drops the acts and shows she still actually would care if someone gave her something to believe in. Agatha is a person who faith was utterly broken.
It wasn’t the life she wanted rather the only way she knew to survive. I really felt that dis allusion with the reality of the world- goodness doesn’t protect you
I don’t think Agatha was “born evil”, but she chose to perform evil acts against innocent witches for centuries so I can’t fault anyone who puts her in the evil category at this point. Her original coven betrayed her, but the other witches she met over the years treated her with kindness and she still chose to kill them. Agatha didn’t have to remain coven less she chose to be. Jen was bound, Alice lost her mother and dealt with a generational curse and Lilia had to deal with losing her coven, jumping through time, seeing deaths she couldn’t stop and being seen as crazy. They all suffered but didn’t take it out on the world like Agatha did.
She’s one of the most interesting mcu characters to me after learning about her backstory because I genuinely feel sorry for her, but at the same time I can’t excuse her awful actions.

Nihilistic and apathetic (or the mask of apathy to avoid feeling anything else about her actions) except in those times when she drops the act or she's alone and she can be vulnerable (like in the Chamber when she's talking to herself, about "Boys just die sometimes..."). The contrast is right there with the people who trick the boy and he drowns. Those people aren't going to call themselves evil and they aren't going to act like it and they might care or they might not and they will call it an accident, but it was still born of cruelty. Even then, it doesn't matter why it happened, sometimes things happen and it doesn't matter how much "good" or "evil" you commit. Agatha is Apathy.
I agree with this idea i mean it sorta reminds me of what Lilia said before she came around, "It's better to be a hermit, to be a fraud." She just spent so long trying to find peace or happiness and she lost it and others believed her and Nicks song was something they could use to solve their problems which she then used to her advantage because no one would believe her and she stopped trying until others saw there was more to her
She might not be "evil" but she's definitely a villain. And even at the end of the story, I wouldn't go as far as calling her anything but a villain, don't think she's at anti-hero yet. And I'm glad. It would have been easy to give her the Loki-treatment, have it end with her seeing all her wrongs and become better. But where with Loki we had many movies slowly pushing him there, Agatha we only knew for 1 show. So I'm glad they didn't rush to her becoming a good person. She's still a bad person, who did a lot of evil actions but in that one moment chose to go against that to save Billy, which she almost didn't do.
I feel like she wants ppl to think those awful theories about her son because it’s much easier to stomach than the truth; he was never meant to live. Accusing her of sacrificing him implies that he was meant to live a full life and she took that. But the sad truth is that he was not meant to live an hour, let alone the 6yrs she was able to buy at the cost of other witches😭😭😭 I feel like her taking the lives of other witches gave Rio a soul to reap in exchange for his. She’d come every night and reap the dead. But on that final night there was no dead to reap so she could finally claim the one she was meant to claim 6yrs prior😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Agatha and Wanda both suffered so much. I wonder if they will ever see that in each other, even for a very brief passing moment of respect
I wish we had seen more of this, but reading between the lines i think the implication really is that agatha killing all those witches nonstop was her appeasing rio, wordlessly begging for more time. "its how we survive".
12:44 Wands couldn’t find Billy or Tommy’s souls because Lilia cast the Sigil, hiding them both from Witch-Kind (Since it seems that Tommy was hitching a ride with Billy in Williams body since twins are known to share the same soul. Billy just had to let go of his brother’s soul in order for him to reincarnate and push him towards an empty vessel). So during/before the events of Multiverse of Madness, Wanda couldn’t find them even as she searched the other Multiverses. That or she assumed that they didn’t exist in the current universe and didn’t look. Makes more sense with the Sigil theory.
Agatha Darkness, serial killer using her son's innocence as a honey pot. She couldn't face him in the afterlife.
This is such a brilliant show because now that it's over. There is so much dialogue, double meaning, layered and in-depth narrative that this show requires multiple viewings to catch it all. A lot of Agathas dialogue is now so obvious but cleverly hidden. God this show is brilliant.

Apologies if someone already said this and I missed it, but I think the reason Agatha prefers the lie is because it protects her. Just like she feeds off witches for power to protect herself from external threats, she feeds off their hatred and warped perception of her to bolster the wall around her heart.
It’s only when Billy shows up sees her as anything but a monster that her feelings start to break free and we can see just how much pain she is still in 270 years later. That’s what I think is more terrible than the lie, having to face her pain.

I had not thought I'd like Agatha All Along, much less love it, and yet here I am ranking it at the top of my Marvel TV series list. I laughed and cried and spent FAR too much time working on theories....

Nah you're right dude, the visual of Billy just driving away when his birth mom literally FLEW out of town is hilarious. I liked the show quite a bit, a very pleasant surprise.
People forget that Wanda created herself (Billy) and her brother (Tommy) so it makes sense that Billy is just like his mother, that was how he was created, in the image of his mother.
In my opinion one of the best marvel shows especially with how it ended i cant wait to see what happens from now.

I hope there's a second season or that we see Billy and Agatha again. I want more of them. There are still questions I have that I hope are eventually answered... How did Agatha and Rio meet? How did she get the Darkhold? In her hallucination, she saw the book inside Nicky's crib but that isn't what actually happened.
There will be no second seasonl. This is part 2 of the WandaVision trilogy. The next part is VisionQuest. I am sure that's where Tommy will be revealed and we will see more of Wiccan.
I’m wondering why Agatha told Lily about how her powers worked. That’s the only reason Lily knew in the end. Or if that was just an act of desperation to get her there to complete the coven. Like, “well, SHE won’t attack, but the others should.”
The thing is with Agatha's siphoning power is that for "lesser" witches like Alice (less powerful witches) its like drinking a soda comparatively to the maximoffs which are like bang energy drinks for her
What’s really sad to me (besides literally everything that is sad about this show) is that Billy was so excited about everything which related and the road. But it was just him unconsciously doing it, and then unknowingly leading 3 women to their deaths. It’s going to be interesting seeing how people use that against him in the future, because you could argue that he didn’t actually kill anyone because Sharon died cause the witches forgot her hair, Alice died from Agatha taking her powers, and Lilia sacrificed herself. But you could also just say the road killed them which was Billy’s creation. Definitely an interesting discussion and one I hope comes back to his character in the future.
Also the other thing I just thought of is how much pressure will be on Billy. Word will have to get out about him being the son of the Scarlet Witch, and I feel like people could easily expect him to be as powerful as her but also fearful of his power because of what Wanda did. And it will be interesting to see him deal with that pressure. I’m just really excited to see Billy’s character
