LZ1 was recorded in 30ish hrs in a 5-6-day period, finished on 10/5/68 ... Studio time paid for by Jimmy Page and their manager Peter Grant (about 35k in todays $) They went on tour and Grant shopped the album, getting them an unheard-of record deal from Atlantic Records in late Nov, 68. The album dropped in Jan 69 and the recordings holds up 56 years later.
As a drummer, you’d like Bonham’s live at Earls Court (1970), 15 minute solo of Moby Dick. He even beats the drums with his hands, he did that solo over 200 times, at some point in a 3 to 4 hour nonstop concert.
Jimmy Page founded the band, produced edited all their album except I believe ITTOD, which JPJ produced. Page worked closely with all the different engineers too, he learned those works while being a sessions musician for several years. Jimmy had played in The Yardbirds, all the others quit, & Page needed to find replacements to honorably fulfill a contract obligation. He knew JPJ from both being sessions musicians, but hadn’t known best friends Plant & Bonham. He got them together in about 2 weeks, their first rehearsal was on August 19,1968. They played 6 gigs in Scandinavia as The New Yardbirds in September. They came back to England, recorded this album, in 4 days & about 30 hours start to finish in October, Page & manager Peter Grant funded the recording, Grant took the recordings to New York & got a contract with Atlantic Records. They signed on I believe November 20,1968, having complete control over everything to do with their music. They started touring the USA on December 26,1968, & this album was released on January 12,1969. Their second album was recorded in 11 different studios, & released in October of 1969.
Not sure if you’re aware, Led Zeppelin is the 2nd highest selling band, The Beatles are number one. Zeppelin sold over 300 million albums, & with only half the albums other top bands have. I don’t believe Bonham had a big kick drum here, his kit was all around pretty small. He was in his glory when he got his Ludwig, it did have 2 kick drums, but the band said he didn’t need it. Bonham only had a couple lessons, & didn’t learn to read music, & didn’t get a semi decent kit until age 15. Him & Plant were both only 20 when this album was recorded & released. Bonham was kicked out of a couple bands, for playing to loud, but he was perfect for Led Zeppelin. Oh they sound amazing live too.
You Shook Me is a great blues song, I’ll take in to consideration you’re young & dumb on that count. Though I’ll agree Bonham is amazing, my opinion the greatest drummer ever.

Led Zeppelin's record deal with Atlantic gave them complete artistic control.

Robert plant and john bonham were 19😊 years old when they recorded this
Dazed & Confused, the strange sound is Page playing guitar with a violin bow, which he uses on 3 songs & he mastered playing with it.

Jimmy Page produced ITTOD, JPJ and Plant took over compositional duties for most of the tracks on that album.
@ I had heard somewhere, JPJ did the producing of it, because by then Page was pretty bad off.
