I do not have a video on how to replace JUST the chrome trim. I believe it should just pry off, if it is already broken you don't have to worry about breaking it. Look at the back of the new piece, there should be a bunch of push tabs that press in, I don't believe that there are any screws. Hope this helps you out.
@HomeownerRepair if the tailgate is closed, you can open it from inside. The release latch is covered however by a little plastic cover in the middle. Pop out the small plastic pannel and you will see the release, stick your finger in, and move it to the right. It will pop open.
You may have to try to remove the inner trim panel with the tailgate closed to access the factory harness that the trunk release button plugs into. Unless there is another truck release button inside the vehicle that is working.

Does the long section of the switch have any use or only the button?
on this car just the button.
The button housing and also the plastic trim surround broke on mine.
Yes, it is very brittle. You can find a replacement on Amazon. I have seen them out there for sale. Hope this helps you out.
