Doesn’t matter what Si we have (I own a 10th gen), we’re all brothers here!
Thats right brother i own 9th gen si myself and i love it
What about the Sport ? 🥺
@@lupemartha6310 we are all honda brothers, fg2 here
Love all my brothers non si and si
Wb acura tsx 🤣
In today's market, the 9th gens are way up in price, especially low miles. 15 - 20k is insane!
Financed out the door $22400 here but I also got gap insurance, also bad credit
Definitely the one to get. Best NA you can buy before they went with the small engine’s with little turbos
@@SarcasticComments239th gen will always be overlooked because of the notorious 8th gen
@@Red-ev8ls yeah thankfully the 8th gen’s are dirt cheap and the 9th gen’s are just finally coming down. I personally went for a Ford ST and just left it stock and that’s all the power I need and has never gave me any problems so far.
@@paraxicgaming5743 I have a slice of gum ill hook you up for $120? Lmk will deliver
Picked up my 8th Gen Si the beginning of this year. I knew I wanted one but watching your videos really inspired me to take that leap and get it. it’s my first manual and I’m in love with it. Keep the videos coming 🙏🏻💯
I just picked up a 2006 si. Can’t wait to have it for the summer
@@elevated7243 I got the same year, had it about for a year already. Much fun, but I think I’m ready for a 10th gen
9th gen sedan 🔥 keeping mine till the wheels fall off 😅
Then we just get new wheels 😏
I had an FG2 and and FA5 09&10. I've swapped out at least 3 brands on every imaginable suspension/chassis, bolt-on, heads/tails, head built k20, frank k20/k24 swapped all motor.
I've done track days with both cars, tons of long distance road trips up and down the east coast, tons of very aggressive back road and local driving in between as well.
I've driven my share of 9th gens as well. (driven quite a few boosted 8th gens. VERY FUN setups to build)
I currently have a very lightly modded/basically stock 2020 FC3. Tracked this one as well and a longer trip or 2.
Out of all these combinations, driving experiences, trips, track days, and varying between heavy modding and basically stock driving I'd say I mostly agree this video.
Hopefully helpful points:
1) more torque especially low end is obviously better feeling for off the line daily driving acceleration(frank swaps, 9th gen, 10th gen)
2) whether small or large forced induction setups I would take a built frankenstein k20/24 engine for max benefits but if not stick to the K20. that redline potential just works beautifully.
3) if you're doing heavy modifying 8th gen for absolutely sure between the Type R/Mugen/Mugen RR parts/aftermarket support in general is obviously incredible.
4) Realistically virtually every year of the very few years of the 9th gen produced have differences/refreshes. Driving one stock after coming from an 8th gen with a bit more of a traditional high NA redline it felt like a completely different car(referring to Tony's "last true Si" comment-I get it)
5) Let's face it, anything you'll be dailying will always be more practical with more comfort/ICE options from factory.(10th gen)
6) To truly experience the beauty of Honda's engineering I'd point right back to the 8th gen Si. Even stock it's impressive. Closest you'll get to an S2K or Integra feel with that high fun redline with true Honda roots.
7) Summary of Points based only on my personal preferences is heavy mod/buildable/learnable car 8th Gen. 9th Gen is a fun car and very very dailyable(much respect to the handful of great racers/showers/builders). 10th Gen as a daily or lightly modded is great and alot more capable than people think(can heavy mod if you want but can see much happiness without going nuts).
Tony, liked and subscribed. You speaking right from my soul brother.
I'll throw the RSX-S in there regarding point 6.
Honestly anyone looking to buy a civic needs to watch your video. It will answer most of the questions most people will want to know. Owner here of a 9th gen si coupe for the past 5 years going strong with only a few bolt ons and tune.
I got really lucky with my 8th gen. I got it for 6k with coils, exhaust, and a k20a2 swap. I love that car
You got an 8th SI for 6k? That's the price for a regular 8th gen, is that what you meant? That's the car I'm looking to get.
@@Dial_J_for_Josh no I got a 2006 Honda Civic si, with tein coils, swapped with a k20a2 (engine in Honda integra type r) for 6k. In cali, I got pretty lucky. I could send pics of the car if u got like ig
@@carloscera1256 K20 is the one that comes in integra type R "k20a2" comes in Acura RSX type s
@@turbro7185 yes. If I remember correctly, I’m not 100% certain. I’m pretty sure the main differences its h to r earlier vtec activation, and it being more aggressive
Nice pickup I like the A2 over the z3 if we're talking stock engines. Built it doesn't really matter but I just don't like the balance shafts in the z3
There’s definitely some things I didn’t cover on this video so feel free to let them know in the comments.
Also I realized 9th didn’t come with Apple care play. Mixed up my readings 🫠
Stay safe everybody
I recently got the 2012 fg4 and I'm in love with the k24!
Just traded in my 8th gen for a 9th gen😎 soooo excited
Dope
I just a 10th gen, it’s my first manual and I love it to death bro. It’s the sedan cause I need some function too lol
I've been driving an automatic all my life. This being your first manual, how hard was it for you to learn how to drive? Also how long did it take for you to get used to? It just seemed like there are so many steps involved when driving manual.
@@Dial_J_for_Josh This is an old comment but if you are still in this mindset,it takes maybe a month or 2 to get used to daily driving a stick with no mistakes
@@Dial_J_for_JoshI don’t know how I never saw this but honestly it took me about 2 weeks to get used to driving manual. The biggest learning curve is just starting from a stop and thinking about how the clutch works. After that it’s easy.
i like the 8th gen Si sedan but its time for a new journey so bough the 10th Si
You will love it man!
I just bought an ‘06 Si with intake, headers, exhaust, cams and valve springs, coil overs, big brakes, short shifter and no synchro grind or clear coat peel. Loving it.
how is it today considering you bought it modded out?
nothing beats cracking vtec in a k20 with fbo shifting at 8k rpm's
I got my stock Fiji Blue Fa5 for $5k in 2019 as a 2nd car to play around with. I'm keeping it for as long as possible and hope to make it the car that gets me into the track.
First mods I did were an Exedy Clutch + a lightweight flywheel, exedy CMC, and K&N Typhoon intake.
My plans next are engine mounts and a full exhaust. Then I'll get a tune.
Get those 8th gens while they're still cheap!
get a race header along with your tuning platform and offset the cost by ditching your cat 😛
Excellent video!!! People are going to look back at this video for info. You should get alot of views off this
I own 8th gen si sedan and 2013 si sedan and if I had to pick one I go for the 9th gen.
Sounds like some hate on the 9th gen when I smacked on 8th gens and 10th gen
Noone makes shit for them, because the dont flow for shit
lol Foreals , i clapped 8gens all day and 10gen and all I have is a reflash of my FlashPro
@@yajidvidal7907 did they know you were racing? Cuz you're not "clapping" any 8th or 10th gen on just a flashpro
I really like the looks of the 9 gen… I remember ppl saying the em1 was the last true si when 8 gens came out
I love my 9th gen coupe, I'm putting a k20z3 head on it N/A
New owner of a 13 si coupe, super fun car, my first time owning a car with a backup camera.
Awesome vid bro, late to watch but I got my 9th Gen to 230whp with fbo, skunk2 drop in cams, and e85. Car feels insane and vtec sound is insane now compared to stock cams. Going S/C soon to upgrade, but it’s very been fun N/A.
I have the 8th and the 10th.... love them both, but the 8th Gen will always be my fav.
I would love the 8th gen with 9th gen interior
You are a very smart and know your stuff, you taught me a lot. Thank you
8 gen was the most sportiest in every way shotr block sj\hort shifter high rpm
Thanks for the perspective. I just got an si, my first standard transmission car so I’m still learning to drive this thing lolol but I I love it. Got a 9th gen. Originally looking for 8th but that whole thing was a long journey and eventually saw this white 9th gen with the black/red interior… so I snagged it.
Cool video
That’s a good way to break it down on the SIs
👽
I remember 2 years ago I watching 8th gen video, at time had r18. Now I have 9th gen si time have changed.😁
8th gen k20z3 FTW
The k20z3 revved up to 8600 my boy
I have a 10th gen si, I just want to do something simple, exhaust, Intake and tune 😅
I’ve been looking for an 8th gen si but can’t find any decent deals yet🥲
Great vid, very informative and knowledgeable. Man, the clutch kits are kind of expensive. When I add up the mods that I might do to the Si, if I buy one, it gets expensive, and then I start thinking ... hum maybe just buy a car in that price range that has the goods already OEM.
--What about the 11th gen LSD? I''m pretty sure it's a Torsen not Viscous or cluth-pack style LSD.
Ya an the 1.5s are gonna pop quick. Need crazy boost to equal a k. Back in the day it was cheaper to make a bigger motor than going turbo. Now they get turbos for $200 an make a tinnie tiny engine.
I have a 9th gen. It doesn't have Apple Carplay nor Android Auto. :(
2014,2015?
Had a 12 and 15 9 th gen.. the 15 had faster steering which I appreciated… drove a 2018 si and the rev hang was terrible.. apparently it can be fixed with a k tuner but stock was terrible…
Danimal checking in.
Wrong you don’t have to swap the engine to be able to swap the head on the k24z7, k20z3 bolts right in with one simple corner welded on the block.
I was thinking of the 8th gen as well when I made that comment 😅
My bad coach 😅
We are over here talking about the great stuff about the 8th/9th and 10th Gen, and what if the 11th Gen smacks all of them😬
I would hope so considering they should be improving each gen LOL
It better considering it’s going for 27k
I had a fa5 si but I crashed it so now I own a s2000
Damn that sucks...at least you got to see another day brother 🙏🏾
I’m looking for sedans only since I got a baby now and a second on the way
B18c5 steps into the chat, rawest vtec what?
Love my 2020 si coupe 👌🏼
9th gens never had android auto/apple car play
I feel like the h series is so slept on and forgotten but imo, no other series motor cracks vtec as hard as a h series. They sound so nasty (in a good way) and throaty like they have itb’s but without actually having the itbs. But it would also be a weird swap to do and a newer civic/Honda platform just because of the motor it is it definitely should stay in the em1 or older generations
You left out the civic hatch backs completely, why?!
8th gen for full vtec/minimal comfort, 9th gen for daily comfort/vtec, 10th gen for full comfort/handling and no vtec
I have a mugen si and as it sits it’s worth an easy 15
Can somebody drop me a reasonable price for a ‘15 with 91k mi?
If we are talking about engine wise 8th gen! But I think if you still want to keep the style and have some fun, i personally will go with the 10th gen (is more modern) #preference
Honestly bro my paint on my 8th gen isn’t it rn
9th gen fg4
Fb6 brother dropping a like 👍🏼
@@yajidvidal7907 yes sir 👍
I don't understand your argument about the 2012 model which is visually similar if not the same as the base model
because the 8th generation was exactly the same as the basic model unlike the 2012 model which has different bumpers (more agressive look) and more options than the base model
2009 here and have a bad 4th syncro😭
I have an 08 Civic r18 and I'm thinking of selling it for an Si cause I want a daily that I can track. The r18 isn't as stout as the k20 plus mine is and auto so this video helped.
I had a 87 si and it was only a half second slower.
118hp and I can't remember the torque,
Was lighter ,2600 pnds. I think.but was a fun car.
Own a 2019si and love it too!my 87 ha a louder exhaust though, less emissions in those days. ...!lol.
Oh yah,
It was 12valve 1.5 liter na inline 4.tried to run her to the ground. 150000miles when I traded her in:(.
Only went through 1 clutch.
I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure the 9th gen never came with apple carplay
Thoughts on 10th gen hatch? Certainly missing some performance bits from the Si but seems to respond pretty well to mods?
No LSD is a deal breaker
It’s finally taking a turn on me
All in all the 9th gen is the best, k24 nuff said, sure the 8th gen is more raw but lacks torque and tech and the amenities that the 9th and 10th gen have, and finding a good used one is too hard, and well the 10th gen yes it’s nice but that 1.5l is weak af even with a turbo lol 9th gens still selling for as much or at the same price as the 10th gen si because the k24 is what makes the car great not a l15 with a turbo, but hopefully the 11th gen si brings back a 2.0 atleast
Couldn’t agree anymore man
I’m excited to pick up a 9th gen when the time is right.
Most likely they won’t. They will keep the 1.5 considering it’s popular and reliable “stock” LOL
@@TdaKid I hope they put a 2.0 it only makes sense considering everything in its class has more power
So even if youve never owned the any high revving vtec engine.. k24 still way to go? I almost dont care about the torque. I drive a fukin r18.. so to me the 8500krpm to me is what im interested in.

@@krayzie281 Words to concider. Ty sir. (Mind u i cant wait for a K-series..) Ive got a long while before I get rid of my R18. Its to practical for Daily/cant justify yet. Lots of miles left cheap ins/no payments, gas-sipping vtec. (Plus the little 1.8 engine shines in higher rpms w/ 5 speed) still very fun for base model.
Theres a 2014 Sedan Si @ my job Ive got my sights on. I believe its 32k miles on it current. Im hoping I can buy it when they want to sell in a few yrs. (Driven by older guy.)
I got a 10th gen coupe, what mods should I do?? In the market for building my car!
I just bought mine and it already had mods on it. I'd get an exhaust (whatever you like), cobra cold air intake, turbo pipe inlets, prl intercooler, and get a ktuner and you'll be set. Might wanna upgrade the stock clutch to an fx350 tho if you're pushing too much torque
Bought my HFP fg2 fbo & tuned w/102k miles for $6000 back in 2017
I have an 8th gen non si. Does that help?
How did you average your 10th gen to 35 mpg?
It averages 38 highway and I mainly drive highway cuz of work.
Going to Mod the car comletely and most likely suck as a daily driver - 8th gen
daily driver with no mods - 9th gen
daily driver with light mods - 10th gen.
9th Gen did not get Apple Car Play
I realized that after I uploaded 🫠
8th gen the best
Could just get an srt4 with a tune, injectors and get 295/hp 295 torque for alot cheaper
