Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle was a pleasant surprise to me as well. Watching the trailers I thought it was going to be more forgettable reboot cheese. I didn't even see it in the theater, I waited to watch it on basic cable. Once I did I thought it was very good & it had a lot of heart. But with all that being said, the original Jumanji is the superior film ! In my humble opinion that is.

I personally loved the first Jumanji the most. I felt like it had the most heart plus Robin Williams delivering a stellar performance. I grew up watching that movie and to me Jumanji should have the suspense of playing a board game. The recent movies felt like they were just big blockbuster action movies and I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and the story. In fact I barely remember the story in those despite watching them recently.
I think my ranking would be 1. The next level 2. Welcome to the jungle 3. Zathura 4. Jumanji Tnl takes the lead for me because that acting was absolutely great. I really loved how they all adapted to the characters. Zathura might be 3rd too but it's only of my favorite movies, it always makes me so nostalgic. The original is only last for me because I'm a sucker for CGI✋🏿😔
Sean if you didn’t know,a character from the first Jumanji made a return in The Next Level, and that is Nora Shepard,in the ending dinner scene it shows her
to me and it might be just me but i loved The Next Level, and it's because to me it makes the bond of the characters stronger when they need to break up and find their way back together, and this movie is all about the main characters finding one of their own and deals with what happens to people when friends grow apart and how each of them deals with it i found it very funny, action packed and heartfelt its my number 2 behind welcome to the jungle

You can tell that Welcome to the Jungle is a sequel a) because the game ended up washing ashore a beach (was thrown in a river) and b) we literally see Alan Parrish’s house from when he had to go into the game because he had to wait for a 5 or 8 to be rolled
We need a jumanji and zathura crossover that would be perfect. Jack Black also supported the idea of the next jumanji in space so maybe the next movie will be a jumanij and zathura crossover

I actually like the third Jumanji more than the second. I like how the actors got to play around with different characters in the same bodies, it expanded the world much more, and for me, I just thought it was more fun. I don't know, but I just didn't connect with the second Jumanji that well. The third one was also the only of them I saw in the theater, so maybe that helped.

The original has a lot of heart and it's dark as well as funny, and one of my favourite films of all time. Welcome to the Jungle has literally nothing in common with the original apart from the jungle setting. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun movie in it's own right, it made me laugh out loud a few times and the references to how video games work is actually quite clever. I can see they were trying to keep it fresh for modern audiences, but at the same time it's nothing like the original. If it was a stand alone film, I wouldn't have minded so much. But it's a classic example of how sequels typically go in 2 directions: 1. A carbon copy of the original, only amped up. or 2. The writers try to be new and fresh and end up with a film that barely resembles the film we fell in love with.

The Jumanji board game seems to change her form, her look and her name and even adds new abilities and new adventures to herself. The Omnitrix can do the same thing. The Omnitrix is always changing her look, her form and her name and adds new aliens, heroes, monsters, suits and powers to herself.
OK so I remember seeing this ranking a few months ago and thinking this is a terrible ranking without seeing the new films and then because of this quarantine I watched the two new ones and although the next level was disappointing, I was blown away by welcome to the jungle I've even watched it twice in 3 days. Zathura is personally my favorite out of the four probably because I watched it all the time when I was younger.
