Yes that’s exactly what it is. The brain 🧠 is always the last thing to fully comprehend the passing of a close loved one. It’s crazy to the human eye but it’s definitely a response to grieving.

Reminds me of my Daddy's funeral. Two aunts who always badmouthed my father had the nerve to be wailing in the funeral. I turned around and told them if I see one more tear, they would both end up in the casket with him. Not another peep was heard. Big Mama said eerythang she had to her friend.

True, bittersweet story. When my dad passed and I went for private visitation. I took one look at him and asked for a funeral home staff member and said "Sir, would you please fix his hair? It's messy. " Funneral home staff fixed it ASAP. And, when I made that request, a staff member was back asap and fixed it. S/O to them.
Context: Dad was always one to always look and dress sharp. It felt like the last gift I could give him.

This is SO accurate! My Mama does this, except she tells me the tea and business of the folks coming to visit the deceased. She comments on the program and the funeral's preparation of the body. Hilarious!!!!

As the grandson of a former Funeral Home family, I promise you all of this is accurate: the talking to the deceased, the conflicts about a woman’s lipstick and OMG the spontaneous outbursts of a gospel song - almost always sung off key 😆 EJ’s skits are the best!
