How This Mansion Left A Couple In £4 Million Debt | Country House Rescue: Albury Park

- Albury Park is a grade II listed country house with parkland, located in Albury, Surrey. Nigel and Jennifer Whalley bought the mansion in 2004, initially sharing the property with a number of elderly residents. However, the other residents soon moved on, forcing the Whalleys to buy their shares in the property, and leaving the couple £4 million in debt. Ruth devises a plan for a show flat to entice new investors to the estate to save the couple from financial ruin.

Is there a reason why you are using all caps? It is considered as shouting on the internet but I know that some people do it if they have vision problems.
I'm glad that this couple was able to get the expert help needed to turn their Castle into a Success Story ❤️

wow what an absolutely gorgeous building! I wonder how they're doing with sales.
This couple is the definition of Monty Python’s bit: Upper Class Twits
My Mother was an Interior Decorator in Dallas, and model homes were soooo important...people, in general, have problems envisioning the finished product....so, the Show Flat is imperative
What I don’t understand is why, oh WHY is the owners of Albury are obligated to buy back a flat when the Owners of the flat “move on”?
Like Time Share of the 80s.
Maybe because it was written in the contract. Why would the kids of the inhabitants want to inherit such a flat?
Who would lend them that much
A very beautiful house, but, it needs to be owned by someone who has around 5 million dollars extra spending money a year for this house upkeep
Medieval mansion fit for Royalty😐
Where are all the incompetent money managers hiding in the UK
Living above your means
They bit off more than they could chew
I want to buy this House
"You know it's like you're they're aunts and uncles.."
Well, thats hilarious
Not sure got info from Google search
The property itself is worth a huge fortune let alone the castle.
To me it's a new experience.
Jennifer turn the friggen heater down and off in the empty rooms and put the cook on a budget and fire the seamstress and anybody else not absolutely required. I’d buy a flat there. Advertise the new scheme.
Its 2 bad they had to sell the place to an investor and the developer ended up completing the remodel.

is it known if they could still live there like they wanted to?
I hope she’s aware she’s going to be old soon.
That insufferable businesswoman, Ruth, represents everything that's wrong with unchecked free-market capitalism and neoliberalism. And yes she is tasteless and ageist. I thought the Brits had a better sense of propriety and decorum. The owners needed sound business advice, not personal abuse and insults. I would have kicked Ruth out of there after her first assault on the elders, and wouldn't have waited for her to go after the staff. I'm a successful businesswoman and there are innumerable ways they could have recovered their costs without firing a soul or abandoning the elders who lived there. This was a shameful "reality" show. I won't be watching again.
Yes, I don't think old people should be hidden away.
Why would you do apartments!
It would bring costs down if he was able to help but seems only to know how to dress up, party and play the Lord. Everybody else has to do everything. She will have to open her mouth and take him on he is not always right and her ideas are not even considered.
so when Ruth aske if they are not good at events what are they go at...I think nothing much...
A SEAT is a must in the shower. I am a lady who leg shave there, men shave there and have broken my leg and needed a seat.... growing old is a deffinate.
There could be a bit less swearing. Maybe that was fashionable and shocking at the time.
36:04 that is a seat in a shower?
I never heard of a shower seat myself, till my mom had one at her assisted living in America. Older people like my mom like it. But I guess it's deadly to apartment sales. for younger people. Hers was right on the tub floor. This one on the wall DOES look strange though.
Very common here in America to have shower seats built in.
@@purpleshoespurp3462 apparently not. In regular houses that most people live in its not.
@@algini12 we had to buy a portable one for my mom. She brought it when she moved in because our place didn't have one either.
OMG if you are not uber rich why would you buy an estate and immidately get into debt of 4 million pounds...so it's an apartment complex...this should be rentals not condo's that you have to buy back...such a mistake...and gas is 40 to 50 thousand a month ...did they not lookinto how much this would cost them vs...the income...??? they are over extending themselves...25,000 pounds a month on food...it is foot loose and fancy free...
I think this is the first time I've watched one of these and disliked the host more than the couple. They may be naïve and silly, but she's just obnoxious.
Yeah I really don't like how she is talking about senior citizens.
Who will take it over when they die???
oh at the end Ruth is blow smoke up their a...sses...
I bet her failed business was interior design...
They just want to play Lord and Lady
Did I hear this women say F all several times? How unprofessional!
I thought the same so i guess she use the f 💣
Kind of annoying she probably thinks it’s banter but she is obnoxious and needlessly punitive , especially to the man who is depressed from losing his son. She is horribly disrespectful about the older people he is helping.
For the Brits, “Bloody” is nearly the worst.
@@pmfg875 I thought it hilarious.😄
