"Pyar se bada koi Brahmāstra nahi h duniya me" When you have degraded the biggest Āstra of your film as second fiddle to love the movie was bound to fall. Imagine if Thanos with his Infinity Gauntlet about to do Snap. Suddenly Dr Strange shouted Love is bigger than Infinity Stones! and all people on Earth hold one, another's hands. Power of love becomes stronger and his Snap doesn't work. Would Avengers succeed with such storylines? Bollywood please grow up, stop emphasizing love in Sci-fi and action movies. Make good love stories instead, let Sci-fi and action progress in India.

It was really disappointing to see Alia's character getting wasted when there was so much potential. She was nothing but a sidekick of Ranbir in the whole movie. They could've shown at least some secret or hidden power inside her in the climax.... Or at least someone who has ideas about the Astras. In this 2022,a young girl going on an adventure within 24 hours of their first meeting when she doesn’t know anything about him, falling in love with a person just after hearing a story when she doesn’t even know who he truly is (he could be a serial killer in disguise🤣) is really not something people wanna see. We didn’t even know Isha's backstory, i hope they will reveal more about her in the second part. The way they were saying "love is the most powerful astra"... I'm sorry i couldn’t feel the connection or chemistry or depth of that Lovestoryian....

She being present in the music, the car chase, even the final battle made me realize that they are gonna use the love story sequence to the core. Even if Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani was predictable, it still kept the audience hooked to see the ending. If movies like RRR and KGF had focused more on the love story it wouldn't be as successful as it is today.

I believe it would have taken some minor changes to the script to make the love story work.Alia could have been portrayed as having an astra which can detect the presence of other people who could have the potential to weild astras. She could have been used as a scout by Amitabh Bachchan to detect such individuals;so by a chance encounter she comes across Ranbir and immediately detects his hidden power and pretends of falling in love with him till the way they reach the ashram. Then while at the ashram they could have organically fallen in love.Just my opinion tho!!!

Exactly! That's a way more interesting way of incorporating Alia into the story. Alternatively, Alia could have been a mole sent by Junoon to fall in love with Shiva in order to obtain his astra and bring him to Junoon to help her complete Brahmastra. Alia could've been an astra herself which gave her powers when needed.
I feel like Alia was only in this for the love angle and her being close to Ranbir so he could gain strength for me wasn't a strong enough reason to have her in the film. It just felt like she was following him everywhere in the film without a real job to do.

In my honest opinion, Shiva-Isha's love story actually plays a very important part in empowering Agniastra. The love story isn't completely meaningless, if we follow the narrative of the story. But what lacked was the maturity, or rather, practicality about falling in love in just a gap of a week! Like, you can be in love at first sight, but confessing Shiva's love for Isha was too quick! Like okay, slow down! You are creating a cinematic universe, you have to slowly progress with the storyline, especially, Shiva-Isha's chemistry!
But, okay! This is Ayan Mukherjee's very attempt to create a story like this. I actually very much appreciate him to showcase Indian Mythology in such a modern way! Its totally a new concept in Bollywood. The content he's trying to deliver to us, already clarifies his goals and visions, amd that what really matters!! Kudos!

    2. VFX - next level
    3. Action scenes amazing
    4. New concept

    wasn't required
    2. Lame love story
    3. No chemistry, no depth and bad acting of Alia ranbir (I was shocked)

    depth and acting

One thing I can say with utmost clarity after watching Brahmastra, that Bollywood lacks, is a brain. They’re just oblivious to everything around them and are just clueless. The fact that a good chunk of audience is actually supporting this movie also sums up their intelligence.

It's good movie with many of unanswered questions and unexplained events to be explained in next part( as hinted by guru in the movie)
Action and VFX is superb, plot is also good
Acting is also nice, just pacing needs to be fixed(2nd half could have been better paced)
The way in which some astras power was shown was quite innovative - Maya astra,Agni and jal astra prabhastraa and nag astra
Also some of the action choreography was quite unique and one of them has to be the ambush, that was really something new
Also the movie's prime focus is astras and the love story factor is only personnel trait of Ranbir's character Shiva so it is well fitted in story
Also Shiva- Isha are analogues to Shankar-Parvati bhagwan,no parents and living with ganas(orphanage children),rich and poor dynamics of sadhak and princess and paravti everything for Shankar bhagwan
    **Spoilers
    - Ranbir has one more power of telepathy and visions
    - Alia is not ordinary human as hinted by many events (she survived the fall and the attack by Zor)
    - The Brahmastra in the end did not stop because of love 🤦
It stopped due to brahmdev lending its power to Shiva as objective of Junnon(and brahmdev) was only to activate the Brahmastra to revive brahmdev, nothing more
    - Shiva has personnel trait which is to find light and love is well incorporated in movies,as from his childhood its shown that first time his power activated because of the affection and love of his mother which burns her mother and then it's activated when he meets Isha
    - Also SRK had one more power by which he can discern the power of Astra some person is holding
    - Ranbir unlocks his next form in the end

Ayan said Isha is just supposed to be a positive happy girl and he hopes the audience accepts that (from his Indian Express interview). He didn’t have any plans for her character. He said Alia has never played a girl in love before so he wanted to give her that role (wtf? she’s done rom-coms before so his reasoning doesn’t even make sense). Isha is just a badly written character. Now with the criticism he is getting he might give her character more to do in part 2 but it’s clear he intended for her to just be a love interest. Very disappointing!

  • @ItsMe_Sam
    @ItsMe_Sam Рік тому +2

IMO they should have introduced Isha’s character as a long term friend of Shiva’s, who Shiva has a crush on but has been unable to express it. Isha should have been a smart, carefree girl with a defined personality. The screenplay should have shown their love story organically develop over the course of the film rather than the first time they meet. And it would have made it even more interesting if Dev or Junoon would have taken Isha captive at the end of this part one. There wasn’t enough of a cliff hanger.

    • @bela_52

The Dialogues prevented it from making a connection with us. Everytime we were getting close to the characters the Dialogues fucked it up. The repeated use of the word "killers" messed it up, if they just went with "hatiyaare" like Amitabh did in his Dialogues, it merged really well with the sentences. They didn't need most Dialogues for the love story and could have gone with the way they did in RRR and October where the love story part had quality and a lasting effect. Or they could have introduced her as his girlfriend from the start and saved more time which could have been used to explore their characters. I don't get it if a movie is this long in the making and the massive budget spent on it didn't pressure the writers or Ayan to even give it a thought that the Dialogues sound childish and many unnecessary things making the final cut. I don't get how after "Wake Up Sid" and "YJHD" he made such mistakes. Hoping they would read the reviews and the sequel will be easier to connect with and have a lasting impression.

If Ranbir is Shiva then why wouldn't alia be Shakti/Parvathy Devi? That would have been so awesome - would explain their attraction, justify the focus on their love story and bring in the possibility of some sort of shiva parvathy combination attack to win the final fight from an impossible situation! Despite this movie having it's flaws I still cannot wait for what comes after. The storyline of Dev and Amrita could provide for an amazing theatrical experience from story telling as well as from a visual standpoint.

Do the rest of you live off of hate and negativity? Makes sense i guess.
Also, pyaar ki shakti did not solve anything here because its not a physical power, its just a driving force behind Shiva's passion to protect those he loves, and that's what helps him overcome his fear and unlock his true potential which is why he becomes really powerful.

I felt Ayan tried to force the romance with “staring into eyes all the freaking time interactions”between Shiva and Isha! This is not a concept you want to explore a love story on and if you got to do it, might as well do it with some conviction.
The dialogues definitely miss the mark, granted that they might have worked in a segment of audience had it released when it was intended too but certainly misses the mark. I find this to be a common problem with movies that have now released after a passive covid backlog!

I do agree the love story was rather rushed and lacks depth. I finally watched it today, shut down a whole hall for my friends and I here in Nigeria. What an experience though. I cried just because I really wanted the film to be amazing and it was. I also agree that dialogue needed some help. And I think the love story would have worked better if Isha was more than just a random girl. I loved Mouni and I wish Nagarjuna had survived, his scenes were some of my favourite. As a foreigner watching this film, I was beyond impressed. My friends and I went berserk during the action scenes and can i just say that amitabh bachchan's fight scenes, the man's still got it. I'm going to see it again this weekend.

Having watched the movie it certainly has its drawbacks main one being the overass cringy dialogues but still i am happpy that we are taking these projects, as it is just part one hopefully ayan takes the feedback positively. It has so much potential, if the next part focuses more on mythology, mystery and adventure then this will be a masterpiece✌️🤞
Edit: heard they are considering ranveer singh for the role of DEV. Just NO!! I think someone like Yash or Rana Daggubati will be more apt for this. They have to nail the casting if they want part two to work.

The thing is they can learn from there mistakes. They should expand on the role of Dev much more as Villains make the main best characters .

Only then we can expect Bollywood to churn out more such projects with more and more improvements. Yes the movie has its flaws but it's a pioneer in its genre and I want this genre to expand and become a permanent part of Bollywood. This is the first step towards making our own world famous fantasy series of movies like Harry Potter or lord of the rings.

After going through various reviews on the internet the one thing common that has came across is, people considering the love story being the core as a flaw. Ayaan is known for most promising love stories developing around the journey of the character. Whether it be Wake up Sid or YJHD the core was a love story and it was beautiful and yet being same old plot the storytelling and presentation felt fresh and admiring. Same can be thought with Brahmastra, love story of a mystical hero( because what is spiderman? Story of self exploration and evolution )... Just hoping that after assessing the audience expectations, they improve further to develop it exponentially.

I too feel given an ardent ranbir kapoor fan that the writing and dialogues could have been better and had a better arc. But it's nothing to be rated as 1 star in imdb, and I would love to have the 2nd and 3rd part and have them the chance to prove themselves given how rare we get to see a movie of such stature, later we as Indians will only cry about the fact that why we don't make movies of marvel / DC level, if we don't given them the chance and since so much of money us riding on it, it will definitely be difficult to convince to have any such grand movie ever in india, ppl may not realize it but brHmStra has been revolutionary in many ways
