This felt like a heartbreak. Bollywood has to stop it's obsession with forcing love stories and let them develop organically.
I was only partially hurt. Not completely disappointed. I agree however, the constant need to force love stories becomes the films biggest drawback.
Bhai 2013 ki love story hai ( chikni chameli )
Bahubali 1 and 2 both had kive stories between Prabhas and his lead females, no one raised a question about why there was love story, isnt it unfair..
@@onelife3511 arjuna and karn laughing their astra are made of love😂😂😂
Lovestoriyan 😂
"Pyar se bada koi Brahmāstra nahi h duniya me" When you have degraded the biggest Āstra of your film as second fiddle to love the movie was bound to fall. Imagine if Thanos with his Infinity Gauntlet about to do Snap. Suddenly Dr Strange shouted Love is bigger than Infinity Stones! and all people on Earth hold one, another's hands. Power of love becomes stronger and his Snap doesn't work. Would Avengers succeed with such storylines? Bollywood please grow up, stop emphasizing love in Sci-fi and action movies. Make good love stories instead, let Sci-fi and action progress in India.
😂😂😂 alternate title - what if Bollywood made Avengers….
By the way, i agree - you just can’t compare “brahmastra, the ultimate weapon of Gods” with love. It’s really childish to hear.
I mean seriously if we actually makes great films on Hindu Epics the concept are so greatly written that even Hollywood and Avengers will feel like joke..
The only one who will do justice with Hindu Epics will be SS Rajamouli..
Mahabharat will be no joke .
Lol😂😂😂
@@prasannaighe5188 is Rahamouli sir going to make Mahabharata, if it's true then it will surpass Hollywood.
The thing I am most sad about is that they tried to make the movie "cool" by adding millennial touch with the assumption that millennials won't like a hardcore mythical movie. Which is a totally wrong assumption indeed.
Nope...galat hai tu
Absolutely right. I hated the dialogues. Why couldn't they write them with sudh Hindi. Those unfunny lines were so cheesy. It would have been so better.
The side characters (corterie of friends in the first half) is just cringe. Side characters in the 2nd half lack personality.
Pakk gaya main yaar. Light, Button, Killers? Roshni hi bol do na, switch bol do? Still better than Button.
Urduwood se kya hi umeed rakhoge. ... dialogue writer is itself a jihadi
1. ISHA could have key to power of Shiva
2. There could be a eternal relationship between both of them
3. Isha could also be a some kind of Astra
4. They could explore 'Mother-Son' Relationship as emotional core of the movie.
5. They could have explored 'Brahmaansh' more.
Ohhh....God so much potential...left my heart half-filled
They wasted half the time on dancing and love story instead of building it
Maybe they'll show all this in the upcoming parts
I wish Tumbaad got same hype as this movie in terms of as SCI/ horror it was the best from Indian perspective and also technically one of the most sound.
Agreed.
The success of this film may dictate creators wanting to take the risk with other ventures! Or even a Tumbadd 2

The most intriguing aspect of Brahmastra for me was how did Ayan Mukherjee convinced Dimple Kapadia to play the role of a pilot. Literally the only role she had in the movie was provide transportation services to Alia Bhatt's character Isha.
I think she have some importance in 2nd part otherwise dimple kapadia wouldn't act in this film
@@yuvarajdeka9017 I hope so cause for me her cameo in the movie was really disappointing. She is such a wonderful actress and she deserves a meatier role.

I stopped watching Hindi movies a long time ago. I gave this a chance and decided, I’m officially done. Mind you I’m a Hindi speaking person who watches movies from all over the world including Hindi and movies from South India. One thing I can say with utmost clarity after watching Brahmastra, that Bollywood lacks, is a brain. They’re just oblivious to everything around them and are just clueless. The fact that a good chunk of audience is actually supporting this movie also sums up their intelligence.
It took him 10 years to write a dialogue like...
" Light ,uss roshini(literally Hindi of light) ka naam hai, jo sabke ander ke darkness ko dur karta hai(something like that)"
Hat's off to your wisdom. Name 1 bollywood film with a combination of following
1. Fresh story concept
2. Amazing visual effects
3. Soulful powerful BGM
4. Non-copied scenes
Yes agree the dialogue were cringe. But that's not the only thing done for 10 years, be disappointed at a reasonable level. It will take you eons to understand the standard this movie has in terms of every other aspects apart from dialogue and handling the love story.
It was really disappointing to see Alia's character getting wasted when there was so much potential. She was nothing but a sidekick of Ranbir in the whole movie. They could've shown at least some secret or hidden power inside her in the climax.... Or at least someone who has ideas about the Astras. In this 2022,a young girl going on an adventure within 24 hours of their first meeting when she doesn’t know anything about him, falling in love with a person just after hearing a story when she doesn’t even know who he truly is (he could be a serial killer in disguise🤣) is really not something people wanna see. We didn’t even know Isha's backstory, i hope they will reveal more about her in the second part. The way they were saying "love is the most powerful astra"... I'm sorry i couldn’t feel the connection or chemistry or depth of that Lovestoryian....
True true true the climax was so damn disappointing and alia was a waste
The fact that Alia went from interesting characters in movies like Highway, Udta Punjab, Gangubai to a love intrest without any depth is sooo sad. A big step back! I swear, this romance felt so forced. Maybe part 2 can save this mess.
Bhramastra had so much stuff that it could've focused on but they decided to focus on that one thing which is literally available in 1000s of other Bollywood films. If RRR had focused on "Romance" rather than the action filled spectacle it promises believe me it wouldn't be half as big of a hit as it originally was.
Mouni roy full fills her purpose and gets all the three stones
@@dulcedeleche000 spoiler
Ngl RRR focused on 'bromance' ..(jk jk)
kgf me toh agree krna pdega boht hi bekar love story thi isse bhi
@@gurkiratsinghanand5838 but it was shown well and it was required to show the bromance as they gonna fight against each other in later part of movie ..
They had so much scope with Isha's character. They could've made her the brains of the team. She could study the Astaras and provide more in depth analysis of those. It would add a variety to the lineup also, a lovestory based on one being brain and the other being power would've added so much depth to Shiva and Isha pair.
She is Shiva's Shakti, just like Durga Ma is Shivshankar's Shakti
@@subhanhasan990tsikfm okay lol
What was the need to put Isha ,what was the need to create pair bond, unnecessary
@@njha4531 I agree there was no need of love story, however, my thoughts were if they were really into love story then atleast provide it more depth and let it grow organically side by side over the three parts.
How often do we see female leads in commercial Bollywood/Tollywood movies get a good character depth ? It's always the love interest who's either head over heels or hard to get for the male lead.
Spoiler Warning :
The fact that Ayan had these concepts like a secret society, astra weapons and a back story of Amrita and Brahma Dev but still decided to keep the core of the film a love story is what got me down. Never the less, this trilogy has a lot of potential and considering the number of cinematic universes seen globally which have failed, Astra Verse does better than most of them it building a very unique and interesting world
For those of us learning Hindi, Brahmāstra was a fun experience. The dialogue wasn't too difficult to understand but now I see why 😅
This made me laugh but you are right. My understanding of hindi is basic but this was easy to understand.
I had already predicted that this movie will be about love story since in the trailer you can see Alia being with Ranbir literally in every intense scenes. She being present in the music, the car chase, even the final battle made me realize that they are gonna use the love story sequence to the core. Even if Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani was predictable, it still kept the audience hooked to see the ending. If movies like RRR and KGF had focused more on the love story it wouldn't be as successful as it is today.
Her being in every frame was not the problem for me. My biggest issue was her not having a stake in the matter of the astraverse. If she was a key component of that universe, it would have benefited the storyline so much!
@@TriedRefusedProductions Yea you are right. Maybe giving her some powers to fit in the war. Like temporary powers or something. It's just that Bollywood either wants a love story in every film Or an unnecessary item number. Anyway you give really good reviews. I'm a new sub❤
@@TriedRefusedProductions What if they explore her backstory too in the upcoming parts and what if she actually has a significance? You never know!🤷🏻♀️😂
@@TriedRefusedProductions What if they cover it in the upcoming parts? Like why Shiva was specifically attracted to her? Like in Twilight, when Edward is not able to read Bella’s mind or Lucifer not being able to charm Chloe 😅
@@TriedRefusedProductions This literally takes Bollywood back to that era when actress were reduced to only being there for the song and love scenes.
I don't know how many of you noticed but most of the story points were taken from Harry Potter (Spoilers Ahead):
1. Collect Pieces of Brahamstra to resurrected villain dev = Collect Pieces of horcruxes to resurrect Voldemort
2. Shiva experiences vision/dreams because of his connection to villain dev = Harry has visions because of his connection to villain Voldemort
3. Shiva didn't die because of love = Voldemort couldn't kill harry because of her mother's love came in between spell which saved him. Basically love is most powerful.
4. Had one guru who told shiva about his parents past and also guided him = Harry had Dumbledore and Snape(who told him about parents past)
5. Shiva himself was an astra = Harry himself was a horcrux.
The baddest thing is Brahmastra and all concept in Hindu Epics are better than Harry Potter but execution is just bad...
Deserves Director like SS Rajamouli
It's just a take reference of Harry Potter series ....not copy a whole 😂😂😂😂😂😂
ufff the characters did breath in the movie, copied from Harry Potter i guess
@@prasannaighe5188 yes, they literally mocked Brahamstra. Had they did research about Brahamstra, they would have known how powerful it was. Shree Krishna used it. But they are showing that love is more powerful than Brahamstra 😂😂
@@priyankapattanaik5414 obviously they cannot copy completely but why would you need ideas or references from Harry Potter if you are working on this project for 10 years? And I could easily pick out 5 of them which summarise the whole movie plot.
I believe it would have taken some minor changes to the script to make the love story work.Alia could have been portrayed as having an astra which can detect the presence of other people who could have the potential to weild astras. She could have been used as a scout by Amitabh Bachchan to detect such individuals;so by a chance encounter she comes across Ranbir and immediately detects his hidden power and pretends of falling in love with him till the way they reach the ashram. Then while at the ashram they could have organically fallen in love.Just my opinion tho!!!
Wow! Awesome plot... Even though this plot point has been explored alot of times in Hollywood movies but still would have been so fresh for our local audience and even for viewers like us who already are familiar to such concept of love stories in Hollywood movies which you mentioned.
Exactly! That's a way more interesting way of incorporating Alia into the story. Alternatively, Alia could have been a mole sent by Junoon to fall in love with Shiva in order to obtain his astra and bring him to Junoon to help her complete Brahmastra. Alia could've been an astra herself which gave her powers when needed.
I feel like Alia was only in this for the love angle and her being close to Ranbir so he could gain strength for me wasn't a strong enough reason to have her in the film. It just felt like she was following him everywhere in the film without a real job to do.
🤔 then Alia will become the kana kimishima of brahmastra
Exactly!!
In my honest opinion, Shiva-Isha's love story actually plays a very important part in empowering Agniastra. The love story isn't completely meaningless, if we follow the narrative of the story. But what lacked was the maturity, or rather, practicality about falling in love in just a gap of a week! Like, you can be in love at first sight, but confessing Shiva's love for Isha was too quick! Like okay, slow down! You are creating a cinematic universe, you have to slowly progress with the storyline, especially, Shiva-Isha's chemistry!
But, okay! This is Ayan Mukherjee's very attempt to create a story like this. I actually very much appreciate him to showcase Indian Mythology in such a modern way! Its totally a new concept in Bollywood. The content he's trying to deliver to us, already clarifies his goals and visions, amd that what really matters!! Kudos!
I also think the same.... The love btw Shiva nd Isha might have something to do with Dev and Amrita.... Not sure, just thinking

Negative points

2. Lame love story
3. No chemistry, no depth and bad acting of Alia ranbir (I was shocked)
4. Wasting half of the movie on
love story which still lacked
depth and acting
I'm not sure that Mouni Roy as the main villain was a good choice. Had Amitabh Bachchan been the Villian, the level of the film would've reached it's pinnacle.
I don't see how Mouni Roy was a positive. She was the most generic cliche villian and while writing is to blame for 40% of it, her acting was so on the nose. I think only Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna really made the cringe dialogues work. And Mouni Roy was the worst case of making the cringe dialogues cringier.
@@kubrified1745 nah. Amitabh as a guru was the perfect choice and mouni did absolutely super job.
For Alia and Ranbir as well the writing let them down. Mouni Roy was not a good villain (not that her acting is to be blamed in totality because the acting also let her down). Junoon did not invoked any fear in me. A powerful villain is one that compels the hero to reevalute himself and pushes the hero to his breaking point.
@@adityavardhanjain for me she worked as a villain
When will Indian cinema stop reducing actresses to side kicks who add no value to the plot?
This movie had everything from BGM to VFX to a good story and good actors. Only drawback is that the romance which should have been used a breather just turned out to be a hindrance in the story telling
I guess Alia must have some connection to this world which we might see in the coming parts
This movie definitely deserves a part 2 but hopefully with less romance and a lesser use of the name Shiva

Haven't seen the movie but the biggest reservation I had against it from the trailers was the dialogue delivery. The way the protagonists are interacting with each other almost sounded cartoony, like Dora the explorer? It almost is irritating to hear. A film which captures such complex themes should've been delivered with caution and a sense of maturity I feel.

'Roshni woh light hai' definitely dumbed down and cartoonish. Describing the brahmastra as a pizza does not help either
So basically this movie and its appreciation for its VFX is like appreciating bad food prepared by loved once for its presentation so that they don't feel bad
This comment should be on top, lmao🤣
Yes exactly
Not really. The VFX literally made the movie an overall good watch. If it wasn't for the VFX my god. I loved the movie and half of the excitement and interest only came because of how well the movie looked and how well were vfx used in the scene. So the soul of the movie has to be appreciated.
The story was average but the treatment and execution of that average material were brilliant. And that's why the movie deserves a lot of praise in terms of their technical work.
@@shreshthasinha285 I've not seen it yet, so can't comment on that.

Hoping that ranveer singh and Deepika's love story in next film will be portrayed in more realistic way. Develop the love between dev and Amrita to a high note and then drop the bomb of conflict of interest.

i guess the love story would still be decent if Alia was given some powers...because if the story is going to say Isha means Parvati and wants to jump into the mythological elements, then having Alia kick ass would have done wonders because we all know that in mythology Parvati is no pushover she can easily hold her own

I am just sad that despite Ranbir and Ayaan betting their 10 years of life, Brahmastra is not what we were expecting it to be.
How much can we expect? Because when I had heard that they're working on the movie from 10 years, I set my expectations sky high ;-;
Don't include Ranbir he has not done anything for the movie except acting
10 of working on what? A fucking love story?
Tbh I don't this they spent 10 years probably to create hype
A benchmark to compare can be “squid games” It took 10 years for the writer to get it materialised and the rest is history….
Although SG wasn’t 10 years in making, but yes, the writer continuously improved upon it for 10 years, while getting rejected by production houses…
It's good movie with many of unanswered questions and unexplained events to be explained in next part( as hinted by guru in the movie)
Action and VFX is superb, plot is also good
Acting is also nice, just pacing needs to be fixed(2nd half could have been better paced)
The way in which some astras power was shown was quite innovative - Maya astra,Agni and jal astra prabhastraa and nag astra
Also some of the action choreography was quite unique and one of them has to be the ambush, that was really something new
Also the movie's prime focus is astras and the love story factor is only personnel trait of Ranbir's character Shiva so it is well fitted in story
Also Shiva- Isha are analogues to Shankar-Parvati bhagwan,no parents and living with ganas(orphanage children),rich and poor dynamics of sadhak and princess and paravti everything for Shankar bhagwan
**Spoilers
- Ranbir has one more power of telepathy and visions
- Alia is not ordinary human as hinted by many events (she survived the fall and the attack by Zor)
- The Brahmastra in the end did not stop because of love 🤦
It stopped due to brahmdev lending its power to Shiva as objective of Junnon(and brahmdev) was only to activate the Brahmastra to revive brahmdev, nothing more
- Shiva has personnel trait which is to find light and love is well incorporated in movies,as from his childhood its shown that first time his power activated because of the affection and love of his mother which burns her mother and then it's activated when he meets Isha
- Also SRK had one more power by which he can discern the power of Astra some person is holding
- Ranbir unlocks his next form in the end
Ayan said Isha is just supposed to be a positive happy girl and he hopes the audience accepts that (from his Indian Express interview). He didn’t have any plans for her character. He said Alia has never played a girl in love before so he wanted to give her that role (wtf? she’s done rom-coms before so his reasoning doesn’t even make sense). Isha is just a badly written character. Now with the criticism he is getting he might give her character more to do in part 2 but it’s clear he intended for her to just be a love interest. Very disappointing!
IMO they should have introduced Isha’s character as a long term friend of Shiva’s, who Shiva has a crush on but has been unable to express it. Isha should have been a smart, carefree girl with a defined personality. The screenplay should have shown their love story organically develop over the course of the film rather than the first time they meet. And it would have made it even more interesting if Dev or Junoon would have taken Isha captive at the end of this part one. There wasn’t enough of a cliff hanger.
Yeah and they should have made Isha have an actual role like maybe she could be a student who is studying science and wants to accompany Shiva to do research to learn about the supernatural things that are going on in the world
👑Brahmastra Review :
Love Story = Poor
VFX = Great
Action = Good
Dialogue= Worse
Screenplay= Average
Music = Great
Acting = Good
Direction = Okay
Overall = An Average Movie Which Could Be Good ..Missed Opportunity
This might be a controversial opinion; but now when I look back at Wake Up Sid as Ayan’s first film; a part of me feels how they could’ve done away with the romantic track between Sid and Aisha. And now with Brahmastra, I feel the same. I hope Ayan realises that his stories are much more than the romantic angles that back the same. One which can do wonders even without the complexities of a half chewed love track.
Okay thats definitely controversial because I loved Sid and Aisha's storyline but I know where you're coming from. I would actually bring the argument of YJHD of Ayan forcing a love story even though they are not right for one another. The climax made me think he really loves his characters to be together irrespective of where the storyline is going.
No that love angle was much more important and meaty than this one
I agree. I love Wake up Sid but I personally felt the ending didn't have to necessarily show them ending up together - it felt forced and abrupt. Regardless of this, the movie gave us some of the most beautiful songs. I think it'll take Bollywood a long time to embrace stories like La La Land where the leads do not end up together/altogether discard the love story.
@@TriedRefusedProductions True, YJHD climax came out of nowhere.
Sid- Aisha's love story was nuanced and very organic. Probably this film needed that or may be a bromance between Ranbir and another contemporary like RRR did. We would have been more invested in it. Just my opinion.
One thing to keep in mind though is that this movie was in the making for YEARS. Thus, it makes total sense for Brahmastra to have gone through changes that have affected the story, especially its plot holes. So much must have happened that creative choices have most probably altered. Yet, the scale in production and visual effects is unlike any other Hindi movie I have ever watched!
The Dialogues prevented it from making a connection with us. Everytime we were getting close to the characters the Dialogues fucked it up. The repeated use of the word "killers" messed it up, if they just went with "hatiyaare" like Amitabh did in his Dialogues, it merged really well with the sentences. They didn't need most Dialogues for the love story and could have gone with the way they did in RRR and October where the love story part had quality and a lasting effect. Or they could have introduced her as his girlfriend from the start and saved more time which could have been used to explore their characters. I don't get it if a movie is this long in the making and the massive budget spent on it didn't pressure the writers or Ayan to even give it a thought that the Dialogues sound childish and many unnecessary things making the final cut. I don't get how after "Wake Up Sid" and "YJHD" he made such mistakes. Hoping they would read the reviews and the sequel will be easier to connect with and have a lasting impression.
6:40 was disappointing to hear, I haven't seen the movie yet but thought she would be some sort of secret weapon who would come in clutch during the climax! If Ranbir is Shiva then why wouldn't alia be Shakti/Parvathy Devi? That would have been so awesome - would explain their attraction, justify the focus on their love story and bring in the possibility of some sort of shiva parvathy combination attack to win the final fight from an impossible situation! So much potential and would differentiate it from avengers and other Western stuff which don't explore the concept of male and female energy synergy!
What a wasted opportunity
Bro u gotta really start writing scripts...
Even though simple, it sounded unique 🙌
Also the funniest thing is that the word "shiva" means parvati itself. But alas how can we imagine ayaan from refraining himself from introducing the letter "a" in the word shiv. As he has no in depth knowledge about how a single alphabet can have a completely different meaning in hindu mythology.
For this they need to invest on good script writers but instead just wasted 400cr on just vfx.
They never thought/had any intentions to make a film on Indian origin. They just injected everything forcefully. Nothing better can be expected from Bollywood. Such a waste.
" Kitno ki Love Storiyan "
Honestly, what is Bollywood's obssession with unneccesary romantic angles in otherwise engaging movies? I do hope there's enough of a box office response to make a part 2 that addresses these shortcomings.
Ayan was trying to utilize the Shiv-Shakti concept.
If they include 'Loveastra' in part 2 it will get justified for part 1

It felt like a good kid's movie 😭
I wanted to discuss so many theories after watching this with my friends but all I remember is weird dialogues. Mouni Roy was good, Vfx was good but still the script 😭
I knew dialogues are weak & script will sh!t.
@@riteshsinghraghav It's a one time watch but I wanted it to become a multiple times watch to explore the story. But there is no story except the love story. 😭
Dialogues were definitely a sticking point. Still lots to explore in a spoiler talk but I'm just reminiscing about all the theories lol. We were far off
😴I knew it...and still went to see my prediction come true.
From now on one should never go first day first show and wait for reviews and go second day.
Films like these should not get too much money through Click Bait
sharukh khan is a main lead and he fights mouni roy and dies
Bollywood is crap like always copied marvel
This part may have laid in the middle but there is no denying the fact that there is abundant potential for future projects. The first movie may not have quite hit the mark but I believe if the creators learn from their mistakes they can create something more beautiful and amazing. Despite this movie having it's flaws I still cannot wait for what comes after. The storyline of Dev and Amrita could provide for an amazing theatrical experience from story telling as well as from a visual standpoint.
Completely agree with you regarding the dialogues, felt like they were written for children but keeping all the cons aside, i feel the movie was worth a watch especially for the visuals in 3D and just hoping for it to garner enough so there can be a part 2 because clearly the little sneak peak of the storyline that we might get in it had me hooked and i really hope after all the reviews they really do dive deep into the astras and also write better dialogues. it could have been so much better if they had concentrated more on the history of astras but well hope part 2 is better if it does happen.
I have seen multiple reviews they all say the same thing
PROS:
VFX are super awesome
Ranbir's/Mouni's performance is awesome
Background score is great
CONS:
Dialogues are cringeworthy

Alia/Dimple Kapadia is distraction
Too many songs at unnatural time

Best Job 😭
I just watched it and he was correct sadly
I just came back after watching the movie, the graphics and cgi was really good, but the weaknesses were top of all dialogue and focusing more on romance than the main concept. The dialogues reminded me of 90s and 2000s era love story movies. I hope if they are developing the next one, Ayan Mukherji should make sure they stick with the main concept sidelining the love story.
part 2 is what I'm hoping would be about the origin story of Deva and Amrita. In which case, in my opinion, a love story between them cannot be sidelined, rather displayed in a much better way.
I liked the reference to Swades , naming SKR as Mohan Bhargav , and a scientist related to space (SpaceHind)
Also a quick reference to Andaman Islands Volcano, the only active volcano in India.
There is one small dialogue in rrr between Ram and Seetha, it goes by "my courage drives me but it your courage which makes me win" has more depth than the entire love story in this movie.
Nevertheless, action and vfx in this movie was slick.
An underated relationship, Ram and Seetha,
That dialogue perfectly explains there Characters...
Brahmastra deserved Director like SS Rajamouli...😭

Group 1: It's masterpiece
Group 2: It's shit
We can't trust Group 1 because they might be paid critics. We also can't trust Group 2 because they might be bollywood haters.
Jammy said correctly that both the groups are wrong. The film isn't great or bad. It is okay. I hope it works or we won't get experiments from Bollywood anymore.
Ignore the movie bro it's not worth....
@@rahulrajkumar2851 I would have ignored the movie if they hadn't tried something new. South Indians support their star's movies even if they are average like Sarkaru Vaari patla. That film released in Telugu only and made more money than Brahmastra inspite of Brahmastra releasing in dubbed versions in south. We watch their films with open arms but they don't give us the same love. Brahmastra made only 4 crores in whole south on first day. It is the best collection for a hindi film in south but not on par with south films. We made Baahubali 2 the highest grossing hindi film and Kgf 2 the second highest grossing hindi film but no matter how great film we make, it won't work in south. So we only should support our hindi cinema when they try something good. Our money will keep going in south and south will prosper while their money isn't coming to us. Bollywood's flaw is its obsession with love stories but there is a lot of audience for that. Coming to Brahmastra, I am saying we should support it because of the experiment. Even Baahubali, Pushpa and Kgf had flaws but people supported it because it had a lot of nice things too. Bollywood is trying to make something like Hollywood at way lesser budget than them. If this works, I have full faith Ayan will not repeat such mistakes. If this doesn't, Ayan will end up making same cliche movies.
@@conservativeliberal6777 Totally on point. In fact, it’s saddening to see when people don’t support an experimental project from Hindi films, the way people in South accepts their movies with wide arms. I really hope Isha would have a much larger part to play in Part 2 rather just being the love interest or Shiva's "button". Also, we didn't see much of her backstory. There can still be hope for something greater.

The problem is that this movie did not really have much to do with brahmastra which was supposed to take the centre stage. It seemed like a bad love story with terrible dialogues and cringeworthy characters . A lot of people decided to go to the movies so that they could see how our ancient culture is represented in the film but it was completely sidelined. Massive disaster.

The biggest drawback currently for failing of bollywood is because of films were started (pre covid time) early and at that point of time the trend was different but due to recent success of many south indian films have changed the mind audience they are expecting more action , more character arcs rather than feel good movies and love stories
South also have love stories but for any action they don't take love as the core subject... Please watch films then u will understand ... Like sitaramam, geetha govindam

(Spoilers) I would love to see where the story goes if the second part comes out. The character of Dev has the potential to become something like Darth Vader, to Ranbir Kapoor's Luke Skywalker. And also, Bollywood just needs to stop resolving the conflicts with the help of pyar ki shakti.
Pyaar ki shakti has been the driving source for movies everywhere, not just bollywood. This anti-love mindset never fails to amaze me. At least here its part of Ranbir's character.
Have you never had someone you really love that you want to protect at all costs?
Do the rest of you live off of hate and negativity? Makes sense i guess.
Also, pyaar ki shakti did not solve anything here because its not a physical power, its just a driving force behind Shiva's passion to protect those he loves, and that's what helps him overcome his fear and unlock his true potential which is why he becomes really powerful.
After the theatrical experience, just typed in for your review and I totally agree with you!
So many things that I felt about the movie and during the movie, you've just articulated so perfectly!!!!

I feel that the dialogues of Alia and Ranbir lacked intensity at many points and were a bit childish. At some points emotions were little less, but the storyline was impressive and the climax was just mindblowing.👌🏼❤

Your review is bang on point! Every thought I had during and after the movie. I really hope the makers take this feedback and enhance the true potential of this franchise in the next part.
It was being said that this movie would have a sequel. Maybe the love-story between the main characters is the premise upon which the sequel would be built on, because in Hindu mythology, Shiva is incomplete without Shakti and needs Her to perform His role as the Destroyer. We could give this franchise a chance, after all it is one of the few which is exploring our country’s myths.
I saw the Tamil Version in 3D. You pointed out everything that I felt. I thought the dialogs is Bad because of the Dubbing, guess its not.
I loved the Visual spectacle and the Sound Design for those powerups.

I dont understand why some people are saying we should support this. pls enlighten me if i am wrong, but this movie was made by wealthy producers and actors, trying to capture the spirit of marvel and south indian movies and also mixing indian mythology. yet its not perfect. i dont think we as audience “need to support”(give money) something like this if they dont want to. its ok to not support this..
Yes it’s ok to not support it. But it’s not okay to spread faltu ki hate & boycotting something before even watching it 🙂
I haven't watched this movie yet but I'm pretty sure it's just too much love ruining stories again. The same Titanic formula has been done to death.
How can you say so, they are our superstars it is our responsibility to make them bigger stars even if you have to take a loan
We should because we complain when Bollywood makes trash movies. We should because a movie of this scale would draw a lot of eyes from International audience. And watch the video (on this channel only) where Jammy explains why this movie has nothing to do with marvel movies and just ignorant people like you who probably don't know anything about MCU too are comparing it to this
If we will not support this movie no other people in industry will ever try to do the superhero concept in India we will be limited to those non sense movies only which we were seeing from last 5-6 years! Hollywood took time to become this big and it became big with audience support. In India this is the problem! We as audience thinks we are doing favor by watching movies on actors while our mindset should be like we are helping to grow our Indian film Industry! If this fails, all the superhero movies that may be in production , producers will hesitate and we will be witnessing movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 , Dabbang , Kick and all. And acheiving this level of vfx with such small budget is a very big thing. What marvel She hulk , 3 episodes budget is greater than this whole movie and people are simpling dissapointed with She hulks vfx not like it's inconsistent but it's bad! The negativity in last 1 year for movies has taken over.

Absolutely agree with the assessment. A good love story is the one that grows on you like with Sid and Aisha, Bunny and Naina. You are left to root for a character. I felt Ayan tried to force the romance with “staring into eyes all the freaking time interactions”between Shiva and Isha! This is not a concept you want to explore a love story on and if you got to do it, might as well do it with some conviction.
The dialogues definitely miss the mark, granted that they might have worked in a segment of audience had it released when it was intended too but certainly misses the mark. I find this to be a common problem with movies that have now released after a passive covid backlog!
Super step towards creating a technically sound film! But there is still a void!
Bunny and Naina was a “good” love story?

It was a story where the chemistry was visible. The characters may have been flawed but I am sure the larger audience would attest to the fact that they could relate to either of the characters.

Ayan has not been inspired by marvel but harry potter. Such a great artist. Just hope second part will be more mature and focuses on characters building rather than amateur romance.
I agree with the review... Even I felt like the love story was too fast paced, there was no character development for me and moreover, I didn't understand the backstory scene where Amitabh Bachchan was talking about how Dev turned evil. Would've loved it if they had shown much more on why this is happening.
Why is bollywood so obsessed with love stories in purely action movies?? I mean such a Grand Concept got diminished in typical bollywood chaos! KGF2 and RRR were spectacles with love story as theme but never above screenplay.
because the script of the movie is supposed to be for the pre fovid audience.
RRR soul is friendship or bromance between two men
Maybe it is the case for only for the Part 1🤔🤔
The problem isn't the inclusion it's the execution. "Love is light" what the movie said. It's the soul of the movie so spending time on it is fine but you hv to do it effectively.
Ya true bro.. I think Alia bhatt is kind of wasted in this movie🥲
So "love storiya" is not just the unpleasant part of the Kesariya song but film as well.

Thank god trailer was released yesterday and I'm eagerly waiting for you to review it.....
I do agree the love story was rather rushed and lacks depth. I finally watched it today, shut down a whole hall for my friends and I here in Nigeria. What an experience though. I cried just because I really wanted the film to be amazing and it was. I also agree that dialogue needed some help. And I think the love story would have worked better if Isha was more than just a random girl. I loved Mouni and I wish Nagarjuna had survived, his scenes were some of my favourite. As a foreigner watching this film, I was beyond impressed. My friends and I went berserk during the action scenes and can i just say that amitabh bachchan's fight scenes, the man's still got it. I'm going to see it again this weekend.
Yes the fight scenes were soooo thrilling. And guess the second part is going to be better .. I wonder what cool stuff they are gonna pack in it for us audience.

I hope the film does good enough business for Ayan to understand what people love to see in films presented on such a scale!
The dialogue writer really needs to be changed. Unnecessary punches in a serious situation, over romantic one liners were just cringe.

I don't know I haven't watched the movie yet but i read a spoiler somewhere which said that the love story was maybe forced intentionally as Isha is maybe a secret villain, as she was seen bonding with him very quickly, constantly asking about astras, inviting to the party, etc. This made me feel more interesting idk 😂if it's like this then definitely it will be interesting to see the 2nd part
Loved the movie. I feel such movies and creative works should be appreciated just for the sake of encouraging such new trends and brave ventures. Only then we can expect Bollywood to churn out more such projects with more and more improvements. Yes the movie has its flaws but it's a pioneer in its genre and I want this genre to expand and become a permanent part of Bollywood. This is the first step towards making our own world famous fantasy series of movies like Harry Potter or lord of the rings.

Damn did you just read my mind, that's exactly what I was thinking. That would have been a huge twist in the end.
Even till the end I was expecting Isha to be the villain but as it turned out she was not. Still I am excited for the second part cause maybe a character whom we thought was good turns out to be a villain in the second part.
Exactly.... I thought the same.....
SOMETHING, ANYTHING for her to have a meatier role. For her to be so invested in Shiva, there was need for her to have stake in the game and it just was NOT there
Would it work if isha (parvathi) will have negative role in a movie based on asthras?
The action scenes were shot brilliantly to garner in those wow moments. But, the way bad guys really had no solid intensions and personality, expect to destroy the world for no reason. The impact was really far less, than if they would have had clear ambitions.

After going through various reviews on the internet the one thing common that has came across is, people considering the love story being the core as a flaw. Ayaan is known for most promising love stories developing around the journey of the character. Whether it be Wake up Sid or YJHD the core was a love story and it was beautiful and yet being same old plot the storytelling and presentation felt fresh and admiring. Same can be thought with Brahmastra, love story of a mystical hero( because what is spiderman? Story of self exploration and evolution )... Just hoping that after assessing the audience expectations, they improve further to develop it exponentially.
I feel this is one of the most honest review I had seen for the movie, given how ppl are rating it as on the basis of very personal opinion which has little to do to the movie but more to personal opinion. I too feel given an ardent ranbir kapoor fan that the writing and dialogues could have been better and had a better arc. But it's nothing to be rated as 1 star in imdb, and I would love to have the 2nd and 3rd part and have them the chance to prove themselves given how rare we get to see a movie of such stature, later we as Indians will only cry about the fact that why we don't make movies of marvel / DC level, if we don't given them the chance and since so much of money us riding on it, it will definitely be difficult to convince to have any such grand movie ever in india, ppl may not realize it but brHmStra has been revolutionary in many ways
Jamy is almost too kind in his review, understandably. This is probably one of the worst big budget movies ever made. The VFX is top notch for Bollywood standard but nothing special outside of India. The Love story & the medicore performance by the main cast is probably the most damaging for tge movie. Mouny Roy is decent, if u dont know about Scarlet Witch or Phoenix Force.
Jammy don't want to anger Big names. He needs money to buy bread, no body knows how many views he'll get if he scores a interview with RK or Alia. My problem with this movie is that it used Mythology as a bait when it was in reality selling a VFX version of Tamasha + Yeh Jawani hai Diwani.
