@@lifewithchioma Hi Chioma, I've been doing great, just started my placement in a hospital 2 weeks ago, so far I am very much enjoying it, with really supportive supervisors. I have incorporated a lot of the skills that you have discussed in your videos on how to be a good social worker🥰thank you so much! How has work been for you lately Chioma?
@@vickyzeng4834 So glad to hear you're having a great experience in the hospital! Work has been good. So busy in the last month (still busy actually), but I'm learning a lot too. Always a pleasure to read from you. Take care.
Gosh, your video advocacy have been amazing! So proud to called you fellow Social Worker! It’s time that AASW make necessary changes and advocate for an effective & efficient pathway for Australian graduated social workers in their migration or permanent residency!
Thank you so much!!! You really gave me a great idea ...somehow now i can see a light at the end of the tunnel because of this vlog....im a social worker 10 years here in the philippines
Hi Chioma, I have a Bachelors Degree in Business and Management (Major in Human Resource Management) from my home country and thinking of taking up Master's in Social Work in 2024 in WA. I am currently waiting for my visa approval. What's your best advise
I have a masters of social work degree, and i am super frustrated giving ielts as i am always stuck at 6.5 in writing ( requirement- 7) for aasw, and also from last 3 years i am working as a disability support worker in Melbourne. Which is the best option for me to appy my degree in? Please help
Hi Simran, please check out ACWA requirements for Disability Support Worker. Your work experience may be sufficient to fulfil English Language requirements. Thanks and don't give up!
Hi Chioma! Thank you for informing about ACWA, it seems like a great option! I would like to ask you a question. Since getting a skill assessment by ACWA limits one to only apply for the jobs in the list you showed, does that mean that if one would like to work as something else in social work, one will have to get the skill assessment from AASW? Or is there a different process for people who have already got a pr? Thank you very much and have a lovely day!
I have started doing diploma of community services which is not accredited but 2 years of diploma. I would like to know if I submit my application for skill assessment as community worker, and work 30 hours or more in a week with multiple organization, is it going to be ok? Or has to be only one organization for the accumulation of the weekly 30 hours which says on the ACWA site. Could you please clarify that. I don't have a bachelor's degree at all. Thanks heaps.
My understanding is that your qualification must be from an accredited course in the first instance. About the 30 hours, I am not sure if you can accumulate that from multiple organisations. Maybe, email ACWA about this. Thanks
how much can a social worker student can earn while studying will he/she get job while studying masters of social work ? or he have to complete s/he masters degree to get job which is best affordable college. which state will be best reply
There's lots of casual jobs for students in retail, construction, warehousing, disability and aged care etc. Please see my previous video on how to find and compare schools for social work courses. Thanks
Hi Chioma This is very useful video. I live and work in UK . So is it possible to apply for skill assessment through Acwa from UK? Please advice Thank you
Hello! I would like to study Bachelors in Social Work in Australia. Do I have a chance to have my visa approved when the degree I finished here in the Philippines is Dentistry (6yrs course)?
Hi chioma, I am doing Master of Emergency and Disaster Management from Charles darwin University. In this master program i am studying 4 to 6 units of social work. Can i get pr through this master program
Then looking to come next year as a student...to do a masters in Social work...can I process my Permanent residence visa as I study?I already have a bachelor's in Social work..and practiced for 12, years
There's nothing like permanent residency visa. Also, you must have graduated from a university with Social Work degree first and get work experience before applying for PR
Hi Laura, yes if you already have a BSW and are able to meet the requirements for a positive skills assessment either through AASW or ACWA, you can apply for PR. You do not even necessarily need a masters, except you just want to. See the links in the description of this video to read more about the assessments. Thanks for watching
Thankyou so much I want to get my masters...I am actually sitting my Ilets exam on 20th this month..thankyou once again the channel is supper helpful..looking forward to joining the February class God willing
Thank you so much. I hold a of Psychology degree. I'm trained as a Life COACH. I wonder how would I put my career in the ACW assessment. Kindly reach out where I can contact you.
You can only nominate the occupations that are eligible for PR through ACWA, and Life Coach isn't one of them. However, Psychologist is on the general Skilled Occupation List and eligible for PR through the 189 and 190 visas. The assessment authority is also different for Psychologists, so please look it up and see what requirements you need to fulfill. You can reach me on IG @chiomarthur
Hi, I am not from an Engineering background and have very limited knowledge about that pathway to PR. Please find out the assessing authority for Engineers and check out the requirements.
Hi I'm really thankful for this channel BSE there's no any accurate informations about social worker profession in Australia on youtibe. Actually I am 36 years and I really want to do my master's in social work in Australia and I already HV a bachelor of business management. Is that ok to apply in my age to this course and can I take PR before the age 40. Pls do a video about after studies how the process towards the PR. do we need experience before the skills assessment how many years like that.if I join to this course I can finish my course in age 39 and only one year or 6 months for take experience is that ok or after 40 how we increase our marks to take points pls do a video thanx good luck
Hi Hiruna, as long as you can meet the cut off of 65 points for skilled migration under an eligible occupation, it doesn't matter whether you have work experience after your studies or not. For someone from your educational background, you may need to study a diploma first before you will be accepted into the Master’s program.
Pls Madam, my wife has a Bsc in sociology. Can she apply directly for masters in social work without first getting the diploma certificate in social work??
To meet the eligibility requirements for studying social work or returning a positive skills assessment you must present IELTS (Academic), but PTE may be accepted for community work
Hii chioma .first of all thank you so much shearing your knowledge . I want to know ,is social worker bachelor degree in eazy for international students ...????

What do you recommend? Is it better to go to australia thru a student visa or directly under skilled visa?Im a Social work in the Philippines for 10 years
If by skilled visa you are referring to a PR visa, that is the preferred option in my opinion. But if you can't access that, the student visa route can be considered.
Hey Chioma, would you advise one to apply for the skills assessment before looking for a job or vice versa? Or you can just do them simultaneously (look for a job while you submit skills assessment)
Except an employer is asking for an assessment, it's not a compulsory requirement for employment, but you may want to consider if evidence of a skills assessment will boost your CV. Use your discretion.
Yes. But if you're going through ACWA, you can also meet English requirements through work experience and educational qualifications. Read more through the link in the description

The assessment is only for the purpose of applying for a visa. There is no restriction on what social work profession you can pursue, career wise
Pg diploma can lead to pr pathway or not. Social work

Hi Chimoa! Do you need to take IUELTS again for submission to the AASW if you took it before enrolling in Masters of Social Work?

ACWA has more options to demonstrate language proficiency in addition to IELTS, including work experience. Please read their website carefully. Thanks
