Man I've still got my old Nitro after nearly 17 years. It's hands down my desert island amp. It's not perfect but what it does, NO other amp I've ever plugged into can touch it. Easily the hardest hitting stage amp I've ever plugged into as well. More articulate high gain than my SLO on stage. Also, with the right 4x12, has the ability to "erase" the bass player on a stage.
@@Bognerman14 That was the main reason I sold my Bogner XTC. It was just too soft and smooth of an amp. The tone was incredible but it didn't punch with any authority on stage and it got murdered by our singer's DSL. The Nitro will blow a 100w DSL into oblivion. The only Bogner that can kind of hang with the Nitro is the Uberschall.
@@Bognerman14 Mine is an EL34 version but you can add a resistor at some part of the board to allow use of KT88's but the transformers weren't designed for KT88's so it sounds better with EL34's. It lost some of it's mojo when I switched to the 88's.
@@Bognerman14 Yeah I owned the Runt 50 for about 6 months and it's an EXCELLENT amp. It didn't do enough different vs my Jubilee to justify keeping it though. It's got a bit more gain and a bit tighter structure than the Jubilee and a MUCH better clean channel. Clean on the runt is also much better than the nitro clean.
I used to play my Nitro’s though a Mesa 4x12, until i bought a Splawn 4x12 with creambacks…that to me is the pinnacle Splawn sound these amps make. It has the mids of a Marshall cab, but the thump of a Mesa. It’s one of the best cab i own. Ps.. love the tune at 15:45
NEWS FLASH: everything you play jarrod absolutely CRUSHES! you really do have the "magic touch" for dialing in an amp. I hope u are following the Bluguitar AMP X that thing looks sick. My next purchase....
Nice Riffs & playing Jarrod, Sounds awesome to me I like what I hear from those KT88's. Never really thought about Splawn but after your reviews and talking to you it has my attention!
I honestly thought splawn was just another modded Marshall company when I first heard about it, holy crap was I wrong. The Nitro is an absolute beast! The best of both worlds when people say it's like having a Marshall and a mesa boogie recto at the same time. Pretty much the amp Marshall should have made. I definitely want a new one with all the bells and whistles.
Ya know I would say that no amplifier "needs" and overdrive but I would say, all the best amplifires take an overdrive well. I'm sure there's outlires but for the most part if its good its just gonna function on multiple fronts.
Would love to see an actual demo of your favorite mesa boogie 2x12 cab with different mic placements.you never really show us what's up with the actual cab that you are using (because we never actually see it) but it would be really nice to see how you do the placement of the microphone and would love to see you use a few different mic's.
Dark force Nitro Splawn sounds amazingly aggressive in C# Jarrod...wow!! 🎸😊 That chases the bats and Cheetos Timmy out of the cellar. Too bad if they don't like the boost. Mud Killer all day long!
Every time I hear you play this amp, I think this amp sounds head and shoulders over the others, and I don't mean to diss the others either. Just an opinion/observation. I ordered one today for kicks, the smaller one that comes with 6v6's for 1500 (right now) is really quite a steal. Opted for the 34's just because I have a ton of them. Also, my 2006 Quickrod has had zero issues and has been played a ton. That factors into the purchase decision too. Cheers!
That amp is definitely legit. I would own one.
Very good demo.
Thank you. It's an amazing amp. Scott Splawn is a great dude too.

@@Bognerman14 yeah it’s still very much a Marshall sound. It’s just got a really powerful low end and less upper midrange than the QR or JCM800.

Sounds so meaty great top end and amazing bottom end your videos show the true sounds of the amps

Dropped in for the Crush, Loved the Riffs Too !

This is the KT88 version. Sounds huge!
