Thanks a ton! glad you enjoyed it. more casual way of explaining something that needs a full 10 minutes at least to make complete sense. thanks for watching
Dave! I took this to the range today and I was absolutely striping my driver! In fact, I utilized a bit of set up for impact on all my clubs today and I was striking all my clubs the best I've struck them in ages! Thanks for all you do to help all of us improve our game and have more fun on the course! Love you, Man!
Just tried this today. Worked up from the drill to my full swing. I’m going to try it out on the range tomorrow, but it already feels like it solved my issue of the ball going to the right. Now my shots to straight or slightly to the left depending on how I place the club face at setup. Thank you!
This is amazing! I feel like you’re a magician showing us how the trick actually works. Dave, thanks for doing these longer videos. Between this and the one you made last week about swing path, such great stuff. Much appreciated bud!
I actually started loving my driver whilst learning from watching you swing yours. That's when I began that counterintuitive leaning of the driver at set up. It's scary good, long and consistent. Gave me a setup. Still working on the irons, so maybe you'll do something there--setup-wise. Enjoy your lessons, Dave! Thanks!
You’re the man! I’ve been hooking/slicing like crazy. Tried the ball positioning and shaft tilt and was bombing my drives straight today at the range. Keep the instructionals coming!
I’ve been leaning my driver similar to my irons and found my drives were terrible based on this “advice”. I did what you suggested in this video and it just clicked; the ball shot in the air and just went straight. Thanks for the advice, so simple yet understandable 👍
Oh wow that’s so interesting I have never heard his name before but I am going to look him up now !! It’s not a one size fit all but it’s definitely worth looking at things from a different perspective if at least just to gain a little more insight into the game and cause and effect. Thanks for the comment !
@@davefinkgolfs ua-cam.com/video/dKw_RWbaij0/v-deo.html This video from around 2:30 onwards doesnt use the exact same words but I think its emphasizing a similar release feel. I really struggle with driver, super low short left shots so I'll be giving this a try. Cheers again!
Trevino always said to be behind the ball with driver. I believed him but now it makes more sense. Played yesterday after seeing this earlier let me strip drives all day long. 🎉 Thanks Dave!
I’ve watched hundreds of driver videos that all preach the same proper setup steps and this is the first one I’ve seen that mentions releasing the hands.
you know im really not saying those other videos are incorrect in any way this is just meant to be a helpful alternative way of looking at hitting driver for people who really struggle or are looking for more distance 🙏🏽✌🏽
I’m glad I just stumbled upon this from your Instagram stuff. I suffer with a hook, often low, as my miss. I always feel I can’t play a slight fade, I “tweak” my grip and just end up slicing it mad, or block it out right. I’m defo gonna try this. I’ve never seen anyone explain it like this. 👍🏻
Push the ball so far forward in your stance you hit it thin, then back it up slowly until you find the center of the club face. Pretty much how I figured out my ball position with Driver :)
@@davefinkgolfs hitting with feet together with ball in front was getting me 175-200 yards straight. now i just have to combine that with the right stance. absolutely have too wide of a stance normally.
Coach, i have a question please! When setting up with the ball out front in your stance, is the backwards shaft lean more of a feel than a literal lean? Tried this earlier and obviously the face closes with the shaft lean and its not pointing to target so it got into my head a little bit - do you set up with the club face square, and then lean your shaft and swing with the clubface closed? To get the lean and face pointing the same way, i found myself closing my stance off to target and almost hitting behind my lead hip (like another drill I've seen on slicing, I'd feel silly doing it on the course though! 😂)
Ha ha...been fighting this for awhile! Started almost two years ago and everybody has said my ball is to far forward when i am hitting 260-70. I have spent so much time trying to ruin my swing because of listening to other people....thanks Fink-er!
this is my biggest issue with golf. people trying to stop beginners from swinging the club like an athlete. it’s so toxic. just let people do their thing and have fun and why try to correct someone who is hitting it far and straight? go back to being you, just with more information about cause and effect. that’s all you need + practice. you got this !
This something I’ve been struggling with. I am a very new golfer, I started golfing in Feb of this year and so many people try and tell me so many different things. When I listen to them I tend to do worse because I am overthinking about all of the “tips”. When I relax and do what feels natural I can shoot way better.
Tried it and did hit it straight and bombs. Don't know if it went farther than my regular setup. Just don't tilt your shoulders or you will sky it, which I did a couple of times. But, it is nice when you can hit it straight, now, if I can get it to draw as well.
Definitely love the Baseball comparisons, those most definitely click a lot faster for me than all the other Bullshit, I appreciate what u do, keep 'em comin Bro 🤙🏽😶🌫️🤙🏽
Bro I think you guys did more than just have lunch at Zankou before this video! 😁🍀 Good stuff, I've been fighting a low snap hook forever, gonna try this out!
@@davefinkgolfs just got back from the range. Had a stiff wind in my face. My last lesson we were working on releasing the driver. I had fought a slice most of my life but lately had been hitting everything left due to turning the head over too soon. Today I had feet together and ball teed in front of me. Wow I could really feel what releasing the club should feel like. According to across my driver average is 206 after last five rounds. Using this method, into the wind I was putting them by the 215 flag! Only issue was a few I left face open and with the wind really pushed them right. Not playing again until Tuesday so I will be working hard on this over the weekend. Thanks
This is why tucking your right elbow in tight to you body is so important. The setup will never fix the arm position. Strike comes from the hands, power comes from the legs. Tuck your elbow and your hands HAVE to turn over and release. DO NOT beging dancing around the ball trying to find a better strike with your feet. Glad it worked for you, but would highly caution 10 plus handicappers.
brother i teach golf all day for a living you have an opinion which is fine but i’ve literally received hundreds of messages saying this has fixed people’s slices. maybe start posting tips on your own page instead of giving unsolicited bad advice on someone else’s.
i did mention it. tilting too much is what 99% of amateurs do . it doesn’t help. get behind the ball take a normal grip on the club there you go you’re “tilted”
my buddy said the exact same thing about seeing the matrix code after working this with driver 😂😂😂😂 golf is SO MUCH EASIER when you can hit driver well
Tried this and had out results. I’ve never hit my driver better and more consistent. This is the best golf instruction I’ve come across hands down.
Excellent!! so glad that it helped
Great take! I love the way you talked through this

Same. When I was hitting the ball 180+ with zero effort, I laughed. Easy game lol
Please keep up the tips, really appreciate them. Top Man!

This worked like a dream for me last weekend. Practiced at the range on Saturday and first tee shot on Sunday was arrow straight and 290 yards
absolutely incredible

How would you recommend implementing this? Feet narrow and ball further in stance?
