Pheidippides actually ran about 140 miles from Athens to Sparta, in two days, over mountainous terrain, to ask the Spartans for help against the invading Persians, who landed at Marathon. Also, ancient Greek history nerd. :)
He actually run around 155 miles (250 km) to ask help from Spartans and 155 miles the way back. There is a race in Greece for this the Spartathlon,it is every year at late of Sepember
I feel like the main difference in between the Pegasus and some of the newer age daily trainers is the Pegasus still makes you do the work, while the new daily trainers do a lot of the work for you.
Have only ever bought one pair of Pegasus for marathon training and would never buy another. Shoes always felt so plain and legs would feel beat up after long runs. Just ran 40kms in the Rebel V4 and felt great. Only problem with RBV4 is trying not to run quicker. P.S. Love the bird sounds on your runs.
My peg 39s gave caused me to develop metatarsalgia in under a week after about 200 miles in em. Not giving another chance until they lower the drop. There's just not enough protection in the forefoot.
I just recently started running, love your channel, I’ve been running in kayano 31’s don’t really LOVE them though, I over pronate pretty crazy but I just don’t really love the kayanos on my feet any recommends?
Thanks man! And my two favorite stability shoes are the Saucony Tempus and new balance 1080v13. Tempus has a soft and bouncy feel that's great for faster paced running. The 860 is super smooth and a great option for comfortable everyday miles - you can't go wrong either way but Tempus if you want fun and 860 if you want comfort
21:58 weather will take me out every time. I just hit the YMCA if I didn’t get out till 1pm, and it’s 88 degrees..with humidity lol. Otherwise if I push it, I feel trashed the entire day.
I usually do one workout faster than marathon race pace at least once every week or so (plus strides once or twice a week). For the sake for time and also bc I don't love going to a track I just do these around my neighborhood!
Great insight, what would you recommend for a 40 year old dude with bad knees that want a great walking and general usage shoe...I've always been Nike, Pegasus and flynet but needs something better if you know what I mean
Thanks! I would highly recommend the Brooks Ghost Max for walking. It's got enough support and cushion without being too bulky. It's my favorite shoe for walking and general use
@@shawncontrerasthe standard Ghost (they're on Ghost 16 now) is a solid shoe but it's not as comfortable and cushioned as the Ghost Max! I prefer the Ghost Max for walking over the standard Ghost 16
Do you know which material from Nike is more durable? Cushlon 3.0 vs React X ? I knew that the normal React could still last months more of running after the outsole was very tim everywhere.
That's a great question - I don't have enough miles on reactX to tell but I definitely enjoy running in cushlon more. It's a nice blend of structure, comfort and a little bit of bounce
I ran in the 37s and thought they were great shoes then. However I was a beginner so I didnt know better. Its a decent shoe but not so fun to run in. My take.
Shows how much tougher you are than me..I refuse to run in junk shoes..now that we have good shoes available it makes zero sense to beat ourselves up..20mi in a Peggy type shoe is definitely not on my dance card..there are many shoes that aren't hot, heavy and hard with way too much drop..I find many of my everyday shoes on the running warehouse closeout lists..I can find top end shoes for 1/2 to 2/3 price and they are much better..Salomon, Topo, Craft,Altra as well the big boys all have last year's super shoes at the prices of a peg and your legs and feet will thank you..great video on a hot morning..😂
100% agreed - makes a lot more sense to buy a top shoe from last year at $100 or $150 instead of something new and subpar. Same reason I will never buy a new car off the lot
I did 20miles in the 38 and it was capable.I also really love the 39/40. This seems like a step backwards.. On an unrelated note, I did my last 20mile run and felt like I had no cushion with the vaperfly 3's, I did half easy pace and half at MP, the easy pace was so brutal. This reminded me of that
I did a 20 miler in the Vaporfly 3s a few weeks ago too all at a relaxed pace and had the same experience - it's just too soft for my liking for spending that much time on feet. Also agreed on 39/40 maybe being better. I still have my 39s and they feel a little more comfortable overall
Oh dang dude 😂😂😂😂 I know for sure which pair of shoes is flying over your yard next 🫠😂 It begins with some hammering on your front stairs 😂😂😂 And by the way the Invincible 3 is an amazing feeling shoe for recovery runs 😍😍😍🙌 I didn’t run in shoes that are so squishy and bouncy like them 🙏 Only downfall thing I noticed after I wore it at work first time is heel slipping big time 🫠 And now I‘ve done two runs in it and the heel slipping isn’t as bad as I wore them the first time but it‘s still a snitch there but okay. It was very interesting for me because I‘ve never experienced heel slipping before, so I didn’tk ow how that would felt. Very interesting to say the least 🤔🫣
Hahaha no Pegasus will be thrown across the lawn 😂 and glad to hear the invincible are working for you! Sorry about the heel issue - I found if you tie the laces just right it tends to go away
If you're looking for a Nike, the Vomero 17 is a really good choice - it's more softer, bouncier and more cushioned than the Pegasus here. I'd also recommend the New Balance 860v14 - it has a nice smooth and soft ride and rolls right along at any pace. The 860 also comes in some nice gray and black colorways that look good for casual use. And Vomero has a ton of clean colorways for everyday use as well
Asics Novablast 4, Puma Velocity Nitro 3, Saucony Tempus. Tempus would be my top pick out of those - softest/bounciest and most versatile for running and best looking in my opinion for everyday use
As funny as it is to listen to you absolutely bury middling shoes like the Triumph 22 or Pegasus 41, please don't risk your foot health or your joy of running. Since it sounds like you do a loop around your neighborhood, maybe the next time you encounter a joyless midsole, you can call a mid-run audible and change shoes.
You went full cave man mode there at the end slapping the shoes on the steps of your pad. 😂 Long run brain man, we’ve all been there. 🫡 I took my 41s on a 16 miler and it was good, but it was just shy of 2 hours. We did some pickups during it and it was good for that! Think I might have preferred the Endorphin speed for that. I agree there are much better shoes for 20 mile long runs tho.

Which is why a lot of us love it.
Ye, basically it's high stack and rocker vs. low stack and flexibility.
I'll take ground feel over max cushion any day, but i also still run in VFFs weekly lol!
Exactly, it’s a daily trainer, for you to train yourself
At this point I decided to sub, you’re awesome brother. Great chill and informative content, loving it 👏🏼
Nice presentation, man! I remember, you are the fan of max cushion shoes for long distance. No suprise you don't like the peg
Hitting the Nike clearance store sooner than expected lol
A coworker only buys Nike and had similar experience to yours. Said the Peg 39 was better and is relegating the 41 to a walking shoe.
at 36:58 you just crossed the speed limit 😁,just kidding. Excellent run btw.
A hotdog in the floor covered in peanuts and miller light. Pretty accurate description of Nike shoes 😂
🤣yeah ... he was criticizing the metaphors ... but I thought they worked well! 🤣

Summer training!
I gave up on the Pegs at 37. Lost their way
great video..
btw, my wife heard that “one sip…” …said you are doing too much
Lol yeah I think this video is the definition of doing too much 😂

The just need to do dual midsole foam in the there training shoes zoomx and whatever else
Vomero
every word sounded accurate, nike has given up on all their shoes expect their top of line options which barely last.
Let's pray for the Pegasus Plus (aka Turbo 4)
Literally not true but pop off
What coros do you use?
