Yowana, regarding the comment you made about posting other content while doing 100 mile weeks. I'd say not to worry about posting reviews on other shoes slightly late. Example: I've been seeing so many Magicspeed 4 reviews come out recently, just a bunch of people talking about the shoe, speculating or posting first runs. Everyone is doing it. I'd rather watch the guy that's doing a 100mile week on some pegs. But if in 2 months or so, someone starts taking the Magicspeeds on 100mile weeks, and talking about it in depth, That's exciting! You're posting 100 mile weeks on shoes and talking in detail about the shoes, their history, your history with the shoes, how they feel/run in comparison to other shoes, how they work with the other stuff you wear (socks, crocs etc), we'll have an understanding of your opinions of shoes that no other content creator is doing. Your in-depth reviews, showing us how you go through each run throughout the week is cementing how people read into your opinions of the shoes. Consider it like an investment in your new viewers because they are getting to know how you talk aboit shoes. I don't think it's a weakness of your channel when a shoe dominates your content for a while. People can see how you're super engaged with a shoe. Thanks for your content Yowana. I got the Deviate Nitro 2's (they were on sale) partly because of what you said about it. Now considering another shoe for those daily runs.
Definitely agree. I don’t buy shoes as soon as they launch and a “first run” review does nothing for me. I’m much more interested in people like Yowana/Kofuzi doing 100 mile reviews where I can actually get a proper idea of what the shoe is going to be like over the longer term.
Your dedication is admirable, I really feel like this video hits on dichotomy between the value drilled into my childhood of sticking with something and not quitting vs the advice I’ve seen a lot lately of knowing what you like and not being afraid to change when something isn’t working. It’s refreshing to see someone openly acknowledging this, I think your true fans that watch every video will follow you either way if that helps. Also talk about some sophistication with that shoe to artist analogy. Keep up the amazing work you do!
Thank you Ethan! And I appreciate that breakdown - you're spot on with my thought process. There's no perfect answer but I'm trying to figure it out as we go 💪🏽
Since you asked, i love this 100-mile review. I respect your dedication to do this with a shoe you came to learn you dont like. I watch every video you put out and have loved last week's content. I understand your struggle. This review would have been easier with a great shoe.
For me the content is the best in the market..keep up the great work..I don't have any interest in most of the shoes but I always pick up something from each video..could be the shoe, the food, the family, the nature sounds, the scenery or the competition between shoes..there are channels that are all stats..there are channels that are mostly about the flogger and his family, there are channels that are mostly about the floggers awesomeness and his contacts in the industry..I enjoy yours cos it's not stuck in the" shoe flogger " rut..I enjoy running and shoes..it's about the whole process..the food, the hydration, the socks, the shorts, the shirts, the entire system..what works and what don't and how everything fits together to make me the kind of runner/person I am or like to be..about the end of 2011 I came to the conclusion that if a shoe (or anything) doesn't work, pitch it or give it away to someone that might not have one..I realized that life is too short to waste it on things/people that cause me negative issues..the issues with junk shoes can have negative impact on your feet and joints..we are in the best times of my life for nice shoes and accessories and I intend to enjoy it until the grim reaper comes calling and maybe I will have better shoes than he does. .😂😂😂..absolutely don't take yourself too seriously. .great video again. .😊😊....IMO as far as the shoes go,if they don't feel good by 30-35mi just pitch em or give em away..no shoe is worth an injury even if it's only to your state of mind..my limit is 5-10mi...
Not loving a shoe like the Pegasus but putting some respect on it & still gutting out a review with Blunt honestly made me love this channel even more!
Great review, mad respect for your commitment to bring high mileage reviews For running Peg 41 is boring, but appears it has value to many. Curious to know what is your bomb proof shoe for track days
Takumi Sen 8 used to be my go to for that and then last year switched to rebel v3. This year I've been liking the rebel v4 and also testing the Adizero sl2 for that - adidas durability is typically really solid. I've also had some ppl tell me they love the adios for a durable track shoe
100% agree with the Mona Lisa reference. I’m a new runner and run 30-60 min but that was a chore to do in the Pegasus 40(which I returned after one run). Currently using the ghost 15 but looking to upgrade to the invincible 3 or nb1080v13 to keep increasing the time I spend running rather than pace of my miles . Goal is to be able to run 10 miles by the end of the year, my pb is 6🙏
Shoe question for you and the viewers: I have a workout of 2mi warmup, 4x1.5mi @ around 6:20-6:30 pace with 3 min recovery jog between each, and a 2mi cooldown. Should I use my Rebel V4 or Skyward X for this workout?
Hmm that's a tough one - rebel v4 is a little less cushioned than I'd personally want for a higher volume workout like that and the Skyward X is a bit too much shoe. I'd go rebel v4 if you want to feel fast though and skyward x if you want to feel protected. It might be a little harder to hit paces in the skyward but your legs will likely feel much better after. I'd personally go with a Boston 12 type shoe for that if I had to pick
@@supwell Might need to add a little supertrainer vibe to the rotation... Want to try the superblast but its just about impossible to find a 10.5 at retail. Boston 12 might be the play
Kinda feels like this is gonna be the normal pegasus will be for the next couple years since theyre introducing the peg plus and peg premium line where the advanced tech will be used.
Thank you for this review. I think I'll buy a Nike Pegasus 41 in a Volt and Black for stunting and get a Novablast 4 in Black and Yellow for replacing my Pegasus 40 in my rotation.
I think Nike is focused on the design over the function. That’s probably the most basic/ugly colorway in black and white, but the volt and I’m sure future colors will look great in that sneaker.. with that being said, that over design is adding a lot of unnecessary weight, and possibly impacting the geometry of the shoe. These are great to buy in 6-8 months when you can get certain colorways for like $60 and you want a casual running shoe or a great gym + treadmill type shoe.
I'm ambivalent about the 100 mile weeks. They allow you to give us deep insight into shoes that simply isn't available anywhere else. As someone who doesn't put up a lot of miles and thus tends to keep his shoes for a long time, this is very important to me personally, as, when I buy a shoe, I expect to be living with it literally for years maybe. On the other hand, though, there are only so many hours in a week, and I can't help but wonder about the opportunity cost to us as viewers of the channel, as it keeps you from going through more shoes. Also I love your content and want you to be successful, and I haven't analyzed your numbers, but I suspect these aren't among your most-watched pieces. I dunno. Maybe split the difference somehow? Like, what did you find out about this shoe in the last 50 miles you put into it? Not all that much I suspect. Maybe be prepared to bail on a shoe when things get to a point where the idea of lacing it up begins to induce a sense of dread, as I got a feeling you were experiencing towards the end here?
my favorite walking shoe is the brooks ghost max - stable, soft and supportive with enough structure for long hours on feet. new balance 860v14 is another good one with similar qualities
I kinda feel you on what dose a shoe offer for a run. Looks like the Peg is not for you as it dose not offer anything special for your run. I run in the 1080 V13, Saucony speed 3 and Hoka Cielo X1. For me the 1080 V13 makes every pace a struggle and requires effort. The Saucony speed 3 for me is awesome at my slow old man pace and every other pace that is faster than slow. The speed 3 makes hitting all paces effortless. The Hoka Cielo X1 is such an awesome shoe. I use it for my long runs. Every pace in the X1 from my super slow to the fastest old man pace seems effortless. The midsole is so much FUN and protective for the legs. I guess what is important and I got from this video is find shoes that work for you and offers something special for your run plus being is fun and productive. All 3 of the shoes were purchased after your reviews. So thank you for putting in the time to review shoes for all of us. It makes a difference. Oh by the way. What are the rules?(LOL)
omg. never thought I'd finish watching 1 hour video review about a shoe (I'm not athletic) but this was a great review. I appreciate you for producing a very detailed and relatable vid.
Any plans to review the Mizuno Neo Vista. I just picked up a pair and have a couple of runs in them so far. Interested to hear your thoughts if it's part of your plans.
I would suggest either puma deviate nitro 2 or Saucony triumph 20/21. Pegasus isn't a great shoe for running. Boston 12 is an awesome shoe but not the most versatile for a lot of runners - it can be a little firm and uncomfortable at slower paces. Deviate nitro 2 is soft, bouncy, versatile and outsole is basically indestructible. Triumph 20/21 is a little more cushioned and a super comfortable shoe that has great durability - lots of bounce and can handle any type of run
Agree man, if you don't recommend the shoe feel free to drop it at 50 miles. Also not sure if you've heard of this, but shoes need at least 48 hours for their foams to decompress and return to their original shape. Looking forward to the hobby jogger hats! I'm in the UK and would happily pay for international shipping
I hadn't heard about that 48 hour principle before so thanks for sharing. I've found so far that it's different for each type of foam - this reactX could definitely use that full 48 hours to rebound or at least 12 to 24. Same with the supercritical EVA in the Mach X. And then a lot of the New Balance foams I've found stay pretty lively no matter how much I run in them. Same with the Nike Cushlon and Puma nitro foams
I love the 100 Mile reviews. However, here's a suggestion. I'm really only interested in knowing your thoughts after a hundred miles in shoes that you think we should actually be considering buying. Your thoughts after 100 miles gives us a lot of unique insights that might help us make the decision between some of the nuances in the different "good options". Based on your thoughts on the Pegasus, it doesn't sound like this is a shoe that you think anybody should really be considering purchasing. In that case, I'm not sure a hundred mile review provides any additional insight that we couldn't gotten at the 25 to 50 mile mark.
Yeah this is my big debate ... what to do at 50 miles if the shoe isn't good/worth recommending. Still trying to figure it out so thanks for the suggestion
I wouldn't even entertain running in the pegs 😂 I have the peg 39 and they are only used in the gym or for circuit training sessions. Far too many better options of running shoes on the market these days so fair play to you 👍🏻
100% agree. I think most ppl buying this just default to getting it because it's the latest out or what the store/website has. And Nike.com completely wiped the discounted 40s from their site when this dropped - and a lot of ppl may not think to search for the deal
Serious question...why do you think Nike a company with pretty much unlimited money is not keeping up with these other companies when it comes to midsole technology, legitimately curious. I have run 25 miles in the Peg 41, its a good shoe, did not blow me away just good.
My guess is they don't want to change the Pegasus too much and make it too different from what people have come to expect from it. They do have other training shoes that I like more - Vomero 17, invincible, zoom structure. And they have the Pegasus plus coming later in the year as well. So I think they try out the new tech on other models and keep the Pegasus super simple
@@supwell thank you for the response..i have only had the Peg 41 for 2 days and its ok. I didnt really like the Invincible 3. Is the structure more cushioned better feeling than the Peg 41?
Yeah 100% not the shoe you need 😂 I'd suggest new balance 1080v13 or Asics novablast 4. New balance is super soft and comfortable - it's my favorite for cruising relaxed miles. The novablast 4 is firmer and more stable - it's great if you're doing a lot of hour to 90 minute daily runs and want a little more structure in your shoe
Ouuu that's a tough one. It has to be 880 or triumph because of the misleading foam names - 880 is definitely worse to run in but triumph is more of a disappointment
My 2 cents: if you've got enough miles that the shoe has broken in and it's just not fun, don't do a full 100 miles. You're a hobby jogger; it should be fun.
Its not about the clicks? its an 1:20:45 video, no kidding😂😂😂 you are like JMW Turner tying himself to the mast to capture the storm! first year of the peg was 1982, I worked in a running store then while in college before I worked in the industry for 30 years. i like your videos just started watching, good stuff, very chill. don't feel bad about taking free shoes, you review a lot of shoes and prob would not be at the number of shoes for your audience if you didn't. Its been about twenty years and 30 marathons since a did a 100 mile week! 32 years as a vegan. we could not have named the adizero the unicorn, Boston Marathon would have sent a cease and desist (even as. a sponsor). the Peg is a great shoe, but not for you. for 30 mile weeks for average runners its perfect- for you its like driving a formula one race in a subaru. If you don't like it at 50 you won't like it at 100, bail!
Wow 30 marathons - that's awesome! It's so cool hearing others long-term success also on the vegan diet. And yeah I agree at lower mileage levels the peg is a much more palatable shoe - love the car comparison 😂
I LOVE that you leave the awkward moments where people are around. Don't change my man.

Having never worn Nike shoes for running, I can't say that the shoe looks interesting....
Hahaha you are spot on
Might as well invest in a drone 😂 that whole set the camera run and come back for it is getting out of hand😂
1st!!
This man is a beast keep up the good work! Motivational 🫡
Next to 100 miles is adizero SL 2?
If i may request, can you make a list of running shoe that can accommodate wide midfooters? 🥹
