The crowd singing the lie la lie. I would sell my soul to see them singing live but I missed any opportunity. This is my favourite song of all time. Legendary
There will never be a better duo than these two. The were incredible and I am so lucky to have listened to their music. Wish I could have seen them live.
I got to see them live when they were starting out. After the show we and went backstage and spent a good ten minutes talking to Paul Simon about guitars and his music.
Thank you Art for the beautiful music. I am 74 yo and in my fading years you bring back so much lovely memories with your haunting music. After ' The Graduate' I followed you til now.
Central park for me.. don't hate this but is there autotune or just some weird delay or reverb FX on Garfunkel's mic... or he is floating over the bars as though he wants a slightly slower pace... not sure if I dislike it though... bit distracting maybe
The fact of the matter in my opinion is that this is probably their best rendition ever of this song. It's so full of surprises and novelties. The band behind them is excellent. Everything comes together is this pure en lyrical performance. It makes me melt and cry of happiness.
@@ryanmccloskey4292 Im not sure if you are tone deaf or what? It is obvious if someone holds a perfect flat note with no human vibrations that they are using auto tune. They used it for years.
How can one 5 minute performance have so much brilliance? I don't want to pick out just one moment, but from 4:00 onwards is as ethereal, mesmerizing, exquisite live performance as one will ever hear.....
I repeatedly play this version. They aged like a fine wine. Sounding better than ever. Their voices sound like life's experiences put to music. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
These guys were, are and always will be my favourite. I am 54 years old and I have loved them all my life. This my friends is MUSIC.....The kind that gives you goosebumps and brings you to tears. LOVE THEM!!!!!!
Arties voice is just so amazing, even that he’s older now it’s like it’s gotten even more so unique and still so good, he was certainly blessed with the voice gift that’s for sure
What is power? Power is getting 20000 people to sing with you because they love you. Not because they think you will change the world, or change their future, but simply because they want to.
I was moved to tears immediately as they began to sing, as their voices meld together like chocolate blending into milk for a treat that's better than each. Just the idea that these two men were able to put any differences aside to participate in the ceremony of performing an anthem created decades ago and performed hundreds of times prior to this culmination of sorts. And for so many in the audience's watchful, eager eyes - it's all the more gratifying to hear the many thousands join in the simple haunting chorus of "lie la lie." And next, the duo - well-seasoned like an iron skillet cooking up a hearty dish - hitting the heights of the song with all their breath. Gosh this is beautiful and worth every penny of the high ransom the front rows must have paid for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing these American heroes practice their craft on stage live. 🥹
Art's voice. Every time, Art's voice. I discovered this song when I was 21 and at university. I'm 27 now and this version gives me chills every single time. One of the greatest examples of songwriting I think there is.
This brings back so many happy and sad memories for me, my brother and my two older sisters. Our father+ was a great fan of Simon and Garfunkel. I came from a very musical family. We kids use to sing songs like these when we and mam were doing the dishes in the kitchen. Our father+ played several instruments but always said he couldn’t sing. But while were were singing in the kitchen we heard soft his voice coming from the living room, doing a second vocal on every song. Hearing Simon & Garfunkel makes me long back to those moments. :’(
My family and I grew up listening to their songs together in the 60's and 70's. This is BY FAR their BEST song EVER! My brother & I used to sing it along with them whenever we heard it even on the album. Best song-best vocal duo ever!
The Boxer, my mother was a great fan of Simon and Garfunkel, until she died before christmas 2016 on the age at 68 years old. I have her vinyl record of "Bridge of troubled water" from Simon and Garfunkel and I cried when I heard this song.
Was there ever a better duo? A beautiful song. One of a hundred. Beautiful voices. Two of a million. We had music. We had them. Lord only knows what has become of music, or whatever that monstrosity you call it now.
Im from belfast followed these guys all my life and had the pleasure of seeing them few years ago down in dublin and was a privilege to be there. Know they have had their differences but they are just sooooo great together!!
I saw Paul Simon in concert in Australia earlier this year and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. He is a true genius. There will never be the likes of this duo again I believe.
These guys were into their seventies at this performance and still gave a kick-ass show. The pan out to the entire audience singing the refrain is a testament to their legacy.
Beautiful, amazing song writing and singing yes! The years are rolling by me and I am older than I have been and younger than I’ll be however they seem to have missed a verse. Paul covers for Arts amazing intellectual musical orchestra compositions when Art forgets where he is in a song. God bless them both for creating such wonderful music and life lessons!
This is musical perfection! The voices, the harmonies, the songs, wow, that's all I can say. And oh how I wish I was one of the people who were in Central Park at their famous live concert back in the days. Lucky bastards!
And here we are in 2022, 53 years after they released this song and they still sound better than anything that's around today! I was born in the 90's and thank god I got brought up by my grandparents listening to proper music where ebery artist sounded unique! Thanks to auto tune everyone sounds the bloody same these days and let's face it you don't need to be able to sing these days, just need to know your way around a computer and its software

So what you are sayin is.... the crowd... is a lie?????? 😲
I truly believe there will never be another voice that can compare to Art Garfunkel
At 3:38 when they sing "I am leaving, I am leaving" Art Garfunkel's harmony sends shivers up my spine - absolutely beautiful.

Obviously you didnt hear paul simons solo work...
Couldn't agree more. Still nailing it better than any of you lot could
Absolutely!!
Simon and Garfunkel were better together imo and i have listened to his solo work.

It really is a magical moment, the harmonies work even better here than they do on the studio version, I'd say.
Possibly the best falsetto I have ever heard.
tugs at the heart strings . these guys are magic just pure magic .
the best line in the song . so evocative , just beautiful .
Beautiful yes.. shame it was auto tuned ☹️

Well Art has a healthy dose of pitch correction on his mic. I wish they just let his natural weathered voice ring out.
I love them so much. Who can resist singing along with them.
Music just doesn't get better than this. The best performance i've ever seen. Unbelievable. Tears in my eyes.. every time. So beautiful.
the way Art casually crosses his arms whilst he is singing - making it look as easy as : )
Some things just get better with age!!

Art has the most incredible voice for harmony. He lifts the song to another level that is far above what it would be.
