Props to the camera person that not only captured the wonderful singing and playing of the ladies well, but each of the phenomenal musicians! What a perfect song!
@BGK2223 - The cameramen are important, but they're not calling the shots. The mind behind the visuals is the video director. He knows the song, knows who is playing what parts, and directs the video engineer to switch between multiple cameras. Each camera man is wearing a headset, and the director sets up the shots, calling them in advance - "Camera 2, go wide and close on Jerry's dobro to pick up both hands...", so the shot is already there. Then, when Jerry's solo comes up, the engineer switches to Camera 2, and...ZAH! - it's right there. They probably had a chance to run through the tune in a sound and video check, so the cameramen and engineers already had a good idea what needed to happen during the show. With a director who knows the music, it all comes together and looks smooth and perfect, like in this video. But all of these guys are masters of their craft, and the best of them can do a great job on the fly if they have to.

One of S&G’s best songs! I’ve been in love with Alison Krauss for 30 years - an incredible musician, the voice of an angel, and still as beautiful as ever…
I first saw Allison Kraus at a bluegrass festival in Mobeetie, Texas when she was just 13-14 years old. Been huge fan ever since. The lady has a fantastic voice.
She was born in 1971. Still a young lady in my mind. This is a testament of the beauty of music. Jerry is of course brilliant and Alison and Shaun playing off each other in harmony is sublime and mesmerizing. Wish I was there.
Dave! The quintessential songwriting of the challenges and characters growing up in NYC. And I'm from Boston! Anyway this recording is beautiful, poignant, elegant, heartbreaking, and how I'll always remember the special Ms. Colvin.
Jerry Douglas makes anyone he plays behind better. Great to see Allison playing her fiddle, and her high harmony with Colvin’s alto is perfect. Love to see more of these three playing together. Added to my Folk/Bluegrass playlist.
Found this performance a few years ago. So glad to see it again. This version is transformative. Shawn and Allison stay right where S&G were and Jerry Douglas adds an entirely new dimension to the song. Listening to these women and the guitar takes me back to the sixties where a lot of us believed anything was possible.
This listening is the first time I’ve heard The Boxer as a tale of dissociation. Allegories of putting up a false fighting front: I disappeared but the Boxer still remains. Beautiful tale of toxic masculinity in a mellow driven melodic rhythm.

I will never get enough of this song. Saw Simon and Garfunkel in concert one time in Baltimore in the late 1960s. Don't recall exact year. A great performance.
Love Alison, this is truly a great version of an American classic. What a great country we live in for music, country, blues, rock, bluegrass, jazz, motown, folk, .... mix them all up and you have America!

Great arrangement, great voices, great harmony, great instrumentation, great execution. If I had any problem it's too perfect to the point of being clinical - I don't feel the raw power and emotion of Simon and Garfunkel.

Wow! Shawn and Alison's voices are wonderful together! Very nicely done.
Linda interpretação.Demais!!!!!!!.
I hope Paul Simon has been able to hear this version, I think he would be very impressed. I know I am, it brought tears to my eyes and lots of memories.
Paul Simon did such a perfect job with his, it would be musical sacrilege to do an ordinary rendition. This was a very good version. Paul probably would be and I am pleased.
I like Allison Krauss but Naomi Priest & Saskia van Gerven do a better rendition, basically the female version of Simon and Garfunkel. You can find it on UA-cam under the Title: "The Boxer Sound of Silence". They are from the Netherlands.
I think that's Mark Stewart, Simon's long-time music director, playing the mandolin.
@@ersp1 I believe it's David Lindley, Mr. Er Sp.
Ah, he was there, this was the Library of Congress' presentation of the Gershwin Prize for American Popular Song to him from 2007, from Constitution Hall. In fact he became friends with Jerry Douglas, and they have exchanged performances of this song at each other's concerts since then.
Some of the most awesome muscians of our age! Real artist don't have to flaunt their sexuality they just sing and play from the heart! You ladies rock! Love yas!❤
Wonderful Version ! Beautiful voices and great Instrumental !👏👏👏
Boy, As a musician, Alison Krauss always puts everything into the collaborations that she is involved in!
Great lyrics /poetry and great melody by Paul Simon. A classic forever.
One of my very favorite songs of all time. Love this performance, all three of them are amazing but Alison Krause is just heavenly.
Oh, the joys of acoustic music and voices that soar.
Always been an Alison Krauss fan; Shawn is superb. Glorious voices and one of the greatest songs ever written.
A song that displays the musical genius of Paul Simon. Viva the memory and music of Paul Simon - an American institution.
