- In today's video, I'm diving into why I like the MXR Dynacomp. This classic compressor pedal is popular for many reasons - from its tight control to that iconic sustain, it's a must-have on any pedalboard.
I'll break down some of its features and share what I like about this pedal as it pertains to my playing and my interests.

I used to have an original one of these - I used it for recording vocals - SM58 with pop shield through an MXR noise gate/line driver (noise gate at zero) to boost signal into a Dynacomp (both knobs set at 12 o'clock) From a whisper to a scream it recorded vocals with perfect clarity in any mix. Outstanding piece of kit 😊
That’s quite a setup, would be interesting to try. Why did you get rid of it though? Seems like it would be a collectors item.
@@andrewsiemon we all imagine ourselves to be upgrading with every dollar spent. Sometimes, it's even true.
M5 is the baby version of the m9 & m13. The latter is imho the final boss of the budget effects setups. You simply cannot do more enough than an M13 for the money.
Right on. I like the M5 quite a bit. It does a lot.
We’ve known this secret since the 80s
Noisy as hell, but it sounds great otherwise
Another guy said it was noisy too but I haven't noticed that.
No it doesn't.
yes it does
too noisy, Kelley 4 knobs is much better
I don't find it noisy, but maybe I'm missing something. I've heard of Keeley many times now, but I've never tried their stuff. I might have to get one.
I'm looking at the Keeley K4COMP 4 Knob Compressor and it certainly looks cool. The design is slick.
Never once had noise from one of these check your rig
need to a and b on and odd useless demo otherwise
Your videos are much worse.
@@andrewsiemon you checked them out?
@@andrewsiemon as you are replying can you tell me if you would use it on overdriven lead?
