I miss Andrew Yang. He had the little guy energy of Bernie, but the business savvy to use capitalism to help others but not destroy free markets. I hope Yang gets another shot.
Yeah his great UBI plan of 1,000 a month that if people were on other assistance programs would have that 1,000 a month lowered. The people who could actually use and need that 1,000 a month would never get it because they're already getting over a 1,000 a month in security nets...Snap, Wic, Section 8, CHIP, daycare assistance, HEAP, cash benefit etc etc etc.
Yang's "solution" would be catastrophic. For one, despite being the "math guy" his plan was a logistical dead end. Additionally it recreates the power dynamics of feudalism as the ever increasing UBI recipient class becoming nothing more than vassals. You have to face the fact that the market is a primitive system that was not designed to operate in such a technological era, let alone the era of AI, cybernetics and life extension technology. Have you ever worked a job? Or are you a slacker like Bernie Sanders? If you work, you are probably aware of the Social Security and Medicare taxes that come out of your paycheck. Most W-2 employees' pay stubs itemize the taxes and deductions from your gross pay, and among them, you will almost certainly see these two items. These taxes are part of what is known as the FICA tax, or the Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax, which is a group of payroll taxes that are collected from both the employer and the employee - you, the employee, pay half (which is what you see deducted on your pay stub), and your employer pays half separately. So the government isn't giving out anything. But that is something ignorant young people like yourself do not understand.

When I was 19 (21 now) I worked at a distribution center for a massive provincial business. I witnessed first hand the way the supply chain works and how many people it employed. A facility that employed thousands of people manufactured products that were shipped all over the province to distribution centers, that were then delivered locally. A product probably touched at least a hundred people's hands before it was sold. I think that no matter what you're economic beliefs are, that moving production back to North America and having localized production is a great first step towards a healthier economy. It creates more jobs and unions, it encourages immigration, and is better for a countries' economy as a whole.
While I don't support the idea that government should have a say in how we handle business. The world economics today has a serious issue and that is china. The economy of the world is based on chinese labor and that is really bad, if china collapses for some reason the crisis will be worse than the great depression in the 1929. All of the world's production will just stop and shortage will be worst than what we got now in the pandemic. So yes, people should encourage more local productions for a more healthy and stable economy. And governments should encourage that with tax reductions so companies would create those local productions.
A lot of socialists definitely believe in bringing some sort of stop to labor outsourcing, both because of its negative effects on the American work force and also on the exploitation of the Chinese and other ravaged nations. Finally, in desperation, they chose to sacrifice liberty in the hope of getting something to eat. We in America know that our own democratic institutions can be preserved and made to work. I honestly don’t know how it would work in reality, but the framework for Medicare for All/Single payer exist already. It’s far from perfect, at least from what I’ve seen in my albeit limited exposure to Medicare (I have family members who are on it) with copay’s/cost sharing/buying a supplemental plan to fill in coverage gaps but at the same time, they also swear that they’d be broke and homeless without Medicare . My mom has had at least 2 MRIs this year alone on her pituitary gland monitoring a benign cyst that’s causing her some double vision, plus visits to her orthopedist to deal with a neuroma on her big toe and a rash of other foot problems (she works in retail like I do and is on her feet for several hours at a time with just a meal break and it’s killer on her feet and knees) plus consultations with her PCP to monitor her blood pressure medication and neuropathy (she’s on gabapentin for the neuropathy and has to be monitored for side effects, as it’s a controlled substance). All of which have been paid for by Medicare! I myself have been on Medicaid since the start of the pandemic and have loved not having to worry about how I was going to afford to see my doctor or pay for my prescriptions because Medicaid covered them 100%.

The method which socialism is achieved can be something you have a gripe with. That is fine. However you must acknowledge there are many different ways to achieve it.
You must also acknowledge socialism in itself is an economic system. So what exactly is the issue of wanting all businesses to be own by the people who know and work for the business. As it stands now we have an over reliance on big corporations to keep the economy running.
We also have access to the ability to end world hunger. We have access to affordable housing. We would also greatly benefit to expanding the education available to people to get better jobs.
The main issue of capitalism is it requires a poverty class to maintain its competitive free market to prevent people from speaking for better treatment.

It creates more jobs and unions, it encourages immigration, and is better for a countries' economy as a whole.
unemployment was at its lowest in the beginning of the year, all time I think.

Franklin D. Roosevelt: Socialist or “Champion of Freedom”?
Democracy has disappeared in several other great nations-disappeared not because the people of those nations disliked democracy, but because they had grown tired of unemployment and insecurity, of seeing their children hungry while they sat helpless in the face of government confusion, government weakness,-weakness through lack of leadership in government. Finally, in desperation, they chose to sacrifice liberty in the hope of getting something to eat. We in America know that our own democratic institutions can be preserved and made to work. But in order to preserve them, we need to act together, to meet the problems of the Nation boldly, and to prove that the practical operation of democratic government is equal to the task of protecting the security of the people.

Suicide, drug addiction, people feel tired, lost and disconnected.
