Okay, let's look at the substance of what he said.
He thanked his team for the economy, doc workers coming to a temporary end to the strike to last until Jan 15. He says this avoided a crisis in the country.
Job report that 250,000 jobs were created in September.
and addressed the rescue plan and vaccinations as a success. He also asserted that trickle-down economics were addressed and improved, and authorized money to hire American workers. He says US attracted 1 trillion USD invested into the country. (Note that this remains consistent with investments since 2016 but slightly down from 1.4 trillion during the pre-2020 period.)
In terms of offshoring jobs, they are still being sent overseas but there was a slight slowing of this rate due to the pandemic but is mostly the same since 2020.
Unemployment down 4.1%, this is interesting as it has gone up since 2022, here is the list of unemployment rates each year since 2016: 4.7%, 4.1%, 3.9%, 3.5%, 2020 8.1% (due to the COVID-19, 5.4%, 3.6%, 3.9%, 4.1%)
And the nation created 16 million jobs in last 4 years: This is interesting out of context statistic as the pandemic saw a loss of about 9 million jobs, that were quickly brought back in 2021 at plus 6.7 million, 2022 at 4.5, 2023 at 4.1, and 2024 at 1.7 signaling a slow down of bounce back jobs and slow down of the growth of new jobs.
and GDP grew 10%: This is another interesting mis-represented stat. The pandemic saw a large drop, so the subsequent years looked larger GDP gains than they were in reality, and large scale fiscal stimulus increased GDP but sharply drove up inflation. A key factor in this growth was labor market resilience despite the worsening economy.
Says inflation went down and wages went up: This is a good example again of mis-represented data. It does not include pandemic era inflation rates of 4.7 and 8.0%, so the total inflation is much higher than is being conveyed here that it is 'down'. He insinuates that people didn't believe it could come back down but the reality is once you hit a sharp peak during a global disaster like covid the rate will be very high and it will naturally come down.
Same can be said about his 19 million business application statement.
Pointed out stock market is continually up, historically speaking over time it always goes up so this is a non-statement. It even increased drastically during the pandemic.
He says he wants to work on affordable housing. This is interesting because he has not shown any realistic policy to fix the housing crisis.
