In this Pedro's Pointers series, Alpha M. answers the questions how and why men should use hair spray. Here is the deal gentleman, hair spray is an amazing addition to any men's grooming arsenal. Think of it as the final styling step to the ultimate hair routine.
Use a pre-styler like SALT to start and then your normal go-to hair product like a putty, clay or pomade. From there, finish off with hairspray to FREEZE your hair in place all day long. Set it and forget!
To use a hairspray make sure you cover your forehead and eyes so that the spray doesn’t lead to breakouts on your skin or get in your eyes. You want to be about nearly a foot away from your hair when you spray. Let the spray cascade over your hair and then let it dry which should take like a second. That’s it. I personally prefer hairspray as it is less of a hassle of having to wash my hands after applying gel, pomade, wax, mousse, etc.
Also learned the hard way...the stress of break outs.

What would you guys recommend for a masculine-smelling hairspray? I prefer hairspray to gel or pomade for styling, but it always smells either too girly or too chemically. Why can't they create a men's hairspray that smells masculine and rugged?
try 18.21 man made hairspray. I use their clay for my styling but the hairspray has the same tobacco/ vanilla smell. Very masculine although I don’t use it because it contains alchohol denat which may dry hair over time. But most hairsprays do include some form of alchohol so it’s up to you 👍
I like to use light hairspray without any other products for my fine hair. It keeps my hair looking fresh and natural without being weighed down.
Question though, if you're using a pre styler and a styler, why use strong hold hairspray? Isn't that tad overkill?
