Hi guys there are a couple of songs I think you'll love I don't think you have done a reaction too these two. Take it back and coming back to life please do those. Many thanks
The most beautiful part of this is the chord resolving to a major chord after moving around through so much minor/tragic, at the very end. It’s emotionally gratifying in a way I’ve never heard before.
Roger Waters was a conceptual genius. But it took three masterful musicians to interpret his vision and give it the power emotion and majesty it otherwise might never have accomplished. Never have four people inspired each other to such greatness, imo. They'll never be another Floyd.
Yes it's a tragedy that they can't get on together now, but we must thank God for bringing them together so we could experience their talents both individual and as a band.
Story goes, when they were recording this in studio they hadn't seen syd for yrs previously, while they were playing they seem a person in background of studio, Bald headed, quite large in size, WATCHING. I was Syd Barrett.
You two are the BEST reactors of all time! You are genuine and have mad respect. I'm a 55 year old woman who is still in awe and cries at many Pink Floyd songs ❣️
It is not just Gilmour. Richard Wright on the keys is just as epic. You will come to understand this in the years to come listening to this over and over and over again. And then there's the drums and bass...
Yeah- is there another band ,where each member,is soo important to the band. After the split, both put on a great show…but you could tell. - couldn’t agree more on Richard wright, My mind goes to that quite often . Cheers. !
I study music and i used this song as an example of changes between 4/4 and 6/8 time signatures, i think this and pigs are my favorite pink floyd songs
Yes, Nick is so precise, he knows just when and how to intervene. Unlike the albums, he stole the scene several times in the "Pompeii" video (just watch him in "Echoes" and "A Saucerful of Secrets"). I like this kind of subtle and precise drummer far better than those flamboyant, pyrotechnic exhibitionists. Another drummer in the same league, brilliant but underrated, in my opinion, is Hans Bathelt of Triumvirat. Just listen to what he does in "The Walls of Doom" (from "Spartacus") or in "Illusions on a Double Dimple".
The fade in at the beginning of this song with the pulsating bass and then Rick Wright's haunting keyboards is one of the greatest yet most unsettling pieces of music i've ever heard. I swear i've heard it in a past life or something. I don't know of any other band that transcends so many generations and is appreciated by all age groups. There is NOBODY life them. Great reaction guys. Thank You.
When you said "I'm glad I started listening to them at this age", you hit on something important: Pink Floyd is one of those bands where it is nigh impossible to really 'get' them as a child or early teen. One usually needs to have matured into their late teens/early twenties to grasp what they are about lyrically AND musically, and the older one gets, the more sense they make. It's a huge reason why their Big 5 classic albums keep finding renewed relevance every decade or so, with each new generation. As a life-long Floyd fan, I'm glad to count you among us!
@@erzy5672 Oh totally agree about enjoyment, glad to hear that! I didn't say 'enjoy' though, I said 'grasp'. Revisit them again after "ten years have got behind you" and there's a very good probability it will mean something different/more to you then, that's all I'm sayin' :-)
@@erzy5672 I fell in love with them in the 8th grade when the wall came out, however I was listening to animals and echoes even earlier. But didn't have. enough comprehension.Age isn't a real issue.Besides it will help you grow as you begin to understand what the are talking Bout.Youll go through something and think damn!,that's what the fuck they were talking about.
Saw them when I was 22 and again when I was 27. The second was the Animals tour which consisted of DSOTM/ WYWH in one set and Animals in the other set. Don’t know that age was a factor in my understanding. I’ve hit my seventies and am still striving to understand what’s happening
The last few notes of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI-IX)" is a musical quotation from "See Emily Play". an early Pink Floyd hit (single), back when Syd Barrett was with them.
This was an unexpected, yet subliminally beautiful follow up to Dark Side of the Moon. Just the fact that the Floyd had the audacity to release such an introspective, melancholy piece of music, when the industry wanted another "blockbuster" says so much about the character of these four amazing musicians.
I wondered where my albums went!! You have them!! lol I once had an electric flute and learned 3 Jethro Tull songs, in the moment I only remember playing "locomotive breath" truth.
Pink floyd is pure genius. I've been listening to them for over 40 years now, and they still put me in a different space. You don't need any drugs, there are the drug!
From screaming guitar to the sadness of the end...it’s the band reflecting, bidding farewell, expressing all their guilt and regret, and letting go. This is my very favorite Pink Floyd song...parts VI-IX. The bomb.
George and Patrick look just like myself and my friends looked like while we were listening to all this great music, back while we were in high school in the 70s. I love it.
Thank you for doing parts Vi-IX, the bass in the beginning with the synth is my favorite part of the whole song... and no one ever gets to it because they only react to parts I-V.. Drives me nuts.. The rest of the song is just epic, I like these parts even better than the first 5..
This is exactly the reaction that David, Roger, Nick, and Richard wanted in tribute to their lost friend and bandmate. Bravo guys - you absolutely "get" it.
EPIC!! This song, so beautifully composed, was written as a tribute to former bandmate Syd Barrett...thankyou for your perfect reaction, and appreciation of this MASTERPIECE.🔥
Practically a whole album in dark minor keys, and then at long last it finally resolves to that happy major chord at the very end, with that wistful little “See Emily Play” melody as it fades out. Pure genius.
Pink Floyd have always been my favourite band, ever since I heard them back in the '70's, and they certainly still are today. To let you know, the Wish You Were Here album is about various viewpoints concerning the music industry, just look through the lyrics of Have a Cigar, Welcome to the Machine. How the industry is almost contemptous towards the musicians (Which one's Pink? or We're so happy we can hardly count.) Once you have finished doing the Wish you were here album, I would love for you guys to check out the always overlooked album Obscured by Clouds. And, like most of Pink Floyd's albums, you should of course listen to it from first track to last track, in order. With headphones. Enjoy.
Listen to Echoes, Live in Gdansk version! Better than any other version, trust me. He has an orchestra playing with him, it's the most beautiful piece of music
I know this is very different but I strongly recommend you two look into the group E.L.O. - Electric Light Orchestra. Timeless music, much like Pink Floyd, Queen, etc
George, I agree, Pink Floyd messes with your mind... If I'm having a conversation, and anything from this album comes on in the background, I can no longer keep up with the conversation. I am completely distracted! I love most of their other stuff, but this one is my favorite album. Every note is perfect.
Masons drums make these wild transitions from literally one genre to another smooth as silk. Marooned is a great slide guitar by Gilmour. Very emotional.
Thankyou both. RIP to Syd Barrett and Richard Wright. Such an epic ,solumn poignant composition that sounds like the bands opus showcasing all their genre styles in one!
My cousin was getting her nursing diploma the day this album came out and instead of watching her Cap and Gown ceremony my best friend and I stayed in my car outside to listen to this album for the first time. She never knew. I feel horrible for that now but then, no so much. It gives me tremendous joy to know 45 years after this came out it is possible for anyone to get the same emotion I did when this came out. Great real emotion, men. Thank You
Another band that was at the beginning of Progressive Rock was The Moody Blues, Nights in White Satin, Question, The Voice, Never Comes the Day. Another English band from the late 60's into the 70's and 80's .
Love the Moody Blues. Have been a fan since Go Now. Was lucky enough to get tix for their final tour. Saw them on Graeme’s 75th birthday. Still had Edge, Lodge and Hayward. They carried a second drummer in the shadows as Graeme was still recovering from a stroke. If you are partial to Denny Laine, he did Go Now with Wings on one of their tour albums
Lovely reaction from you both. It is a spiritual song about Syd and is melancholic but profound. Syd actually appeared at the recording session and the rest of the group didn't recognise him at first...he had changed so much. I consider this album the equal of DSOTM if not better.
Yesss! So glad you reacted to this! Pure magic right here. With Pink Floyd you just need to surrender to the flow. Let them take your mind on a journey.
I didn’t get into Floyd until my 40’s. When all this came out I was into soft rock and R&B. I didn’t know what I was missing. I guess I had to mature to really appreciate this music and I’m so glad I didn’t miss out.Musical geniuses. ❤️❤️❤️☺️
I mean, I’m talking to the audience here, can you imagine never hearing this music that we take for granted and being one of these guys and getting all this stuff piled onto you In a relatively short period of time? I have excellent stuff in my personal collection that I know would fuck them up. No prisoners!
Hmmmm, only 5 dislikes to 1000+ likes ... I think the world may be getting smarter after all !!! .3% is like a record ,congrats boys and love the reactions to Floyd , always got your comfy seats ready , smart 👍
Love your comments to PF. You're absolutely right, you don't LISTEN to their music, you EXPERIENCE it. You live it, you can't dance, or think, or drive, it absorbs you and you absorb it.
Thank you guys! Love this composition and your reaction comments. As with many Pink Floyd tracks, there are no words to express how you feel. Just enjoy the ride!
Syd Barrett, the inspiration for this song suite, wandered into the studio while Pink Floyd were recording it and nobody recognized him. They wondered who this strange overweight man with the crewcut was and why he was standing around in the studio until it finally dawned on them that it was Syd. One thing's for sure, much of the success of this album is due to the great Rick Wright. The very last notes he plays at the fadeout are from the early Floyd single, "See Emily Play", which was written by Syd.
Whatever you guys are doing 25 years from now (and I hope it's something great), I can tell you one thing for sure: you won't be tired of hearing this or any other Floyd song. And it won't just be nostalgia. You'll still enjoy it as much as you do now. I saw them perform this album in Madison Square Garden in 1977. I remember every visual that went with every sound. My friend and I listened to this album for the first time in my car in the way to meet the gang in a favorite bar. We listened to it at least three times in a row while seated in the parking lot. Never made it into the bar. He is now a keyboardist in a great Floyd tribute band in NYC. I've seen them twice and Roger Waters once. You will always like this.
I've listened to Pink Floyd and this song since at least the early/ mid 70's, I've never heard this version. Thanks, great find, great reaction. Love when twins/ siblings react. And kids / parents is always fun to watch.

He is the gentleman of drums. Always perfect touch
Still curious, who rates all these great musicians? To me , for 50 yrs as a huge Pink Floyd fan, Nick Mason rates a perfect 100 for this band’s style.

Love watching you young men react to ABSOLUTE MAGIC!! AMAZING!!!
That's one of the most honest comments I've ever heard from a reactor. Respect and thumbs up!
Thank you guys! Love this composition and your reaction comments. As with many Pink Floyd tracks, there are no words to express how you feel. Just enjoy the ride!
My favorite part of the song is from 8:25 to 11:20, that jazzy beat is so catchy
WYWH perfect album and where Pink Floyd mastered the art of the transition.
Pink Floyd IS their own category of music, and there is no else in it
Part 6-9 of crazy diamond the music enters your heart, soul, and mind and TALKS TO YOU...!!!!!
I've listened to Pink Floyd and this song since at least the early/ mid 70's, I've never heard this version. Thanks, great find, great reaction. Love when twins/ siblings react. And kids / parents is always fun to watch.
Thanks God, for create David Gilmor
