Chaos is self explanatory. Necrons are tied in to the whole Chaos/Eldar thingy and are... Well they're Necrons. Tyranids are eventually going to eat *literally everything and everyone* sooner or later. The only somewhat redeeming race is the Orks and that's only because they are behaving simply how they were DESIGNED to behave by a race that has long excused itself from the scene anyway. But still are as much a threat to any sort of stability as any other faction. That's all Mankind needs to "understand."

Starcraft got ideas for Zerg from a combo of Alien movies for looks and Tyranids for lore - and GW actually liked the Zerg look so changed Tyranids to look like Zerg/Xenomorphs more as in the beginning they had a retro 50s B-movie look instead (genestealers are the main remnant of this look which is why they don't "fit" the look of other nids well)

I just love how you use all the familiar sound effects (for me at least), how you are cleverly and profesionaly commented and montaged this video (it feels like you were you, not forced any jokes), the natural feeling of this video. About a memorable lines. My friend a huge fan of CoH, we played it a lot, but never actually use any voicelines as a joke. And when I found about Dawn Of War, few month ago (thanks to you my friend!), I immideatly show it to my friend, and after two games he keeps screaming in discord: "SIR! YES, SIR!", "It will be done!" and other lines, which we were using even while playing CoH
I really enjoyed this and the other DoW retrospectives. I truly loved this game and continue to do so. As a game developer, I can honestly say you do a good job from that perspective as well. Finally, so many game bloggers rely on really obnoxious video techniques and your jokes are just enough to mix things up quickly without making me want to pull my own organs out. Bravo!

Gotta admit, I wasn't expecting a review that would shock me but I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the in-depth look you presented and a good standpoint on a lot of what the game has to offer. Not only did you compare how the game was by RTS standards but honestly it was how you managed to incorporate how the game felt by 40K standards which was what impressed me the most. Looking forward to everything else man.
I feel sorry for you ThunderPsyker. There were those of us that played this when it first released and it was our everything for at least a few years. I spent more hours than I can remember crushing foes in the multiplayer. By the time the last expansion came out, "Soul Storm" that gave us flyers, and Sisters of Battle, the game was complete and fun as hell. But of course, the fun ended with the collapse of Game Spy. How you do Online Multiplayers now with out the Game Spy host, I have no idea.
You'll have to get the Steam version: From what I remember, you can put your CD code for DoW 1 and Soulstorm into Steam and it'll redeem it as a full copy. Winter Assault and Dark Crusade will require you contacting Sega support directly, however. (they usually just ask for a photo of your copy, including the key)
I believe that, aside from steam servers, you can use GameRanger to set up multiplayer games, but i would recommend getting some people or a joining a group for such, as it can be frustrating to set up a gameranger game sometimes.
That opening cutscene was so mind-blowing in 2006 that I spent the next several months emptying my bank account on Space Marine minis and even got a Space Marine tattoo within the year. I had never seen so much concentrated badassdom before.

I used to set my PC to execute dawn of war at 6:30 am so I'd wake up for work to the sounds of the glorious battle in the intro. Made for a decent morning and got me in the mood for work.
I played "an arseload" of C&C (all editions), Dawn of War and several others. But by far C&C and DoW are my favourites, I do wish for a more Total War like game style which is why I'm buzzed about Warhammer: Total War. Potential for 40k? YES!!!
I've finished both the main campaign and Winter Assault and I'm now playing Dark Crusade. The question I'm now asking myself everyday is: WHY THE HELL DoW 2 and DoW 3 aren't like DoW1 but with better graphics?????

Considering his last video, bowls of hell is a much more fitting allegory.
With 4 races, DoW is imbalanced for competitive play
But weirdly enough, wih 9 Races, its successor Soulstorm is actually pretty balanced
Pablo Blo each race plays so differently that no race has any solid advantage that can be applied to any situation.
