this mod truly cant get enough praise, its insane the fact that after 10 years no dev can come close to the amount of content that this has....its probably the best warhammer 40k experience out there

In defence of the community, we all thought the Dreadknight suit was ridiculous as well. It was something that GW came up with in a bid to sell more models in spite of the objections we all had to it.
Go to 1d4chan, look at the bottom of the Dreadknight page, there is an oversized GK terminator. After seeing that, I am convinced that's what the Dreadknight should have been.
This video was 5 years ago. It makes me wonder how Ultimate Apocalypse has come along since then, considering it had been out 10 years before that. It must be quite the monster by now.
I really appreciate you including a "how to get this mod running properly" intro and setting up a QnA with one of the mod team devs. Really adds a lot to the video for me!
This is really impressive for a mod. Crazy the kind of work people put into fan projects. One of the games I recently played is a fully voiced JRPG from 1993 that received a full fandub. It's really impressive what fans will do to a game if they like it enough.
The sheer scale and the thundering booming mechanized voice and then just immediately deleting enemies in 6:47 is probably one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed
One thing to add to this for latecomers: As of recent versions of the Mod Manager, it has a built-in version of the 4-gig patch inside of it, so the standalone 4gig is no longer required.
It hasn't been updated for years, but im a big fan of "firestorm over kaurava". It gets pretty close to the tabletop experience in a lot of ways. namely the units themselves being closer to codex (albeit several editions out of date now but still all you're really missing out on is primaris marines which is no great loss at all)
There is special category of mods called "kitchen sink" that throw everything into package but only this very mod make it good. Also - Dawn of War Dark Crusade is the only RTS I bought for the full price despite not playing (and liking) this genre, with exception of maybe 2-3 titles through the years. PS. The Elder Scrolls games have plenty of mods that're way way bigger than the game's own official expansions. The problem is that they take as long (actually typically much longer) to make as well. Although some have come out already, such as Enderal, others are still in development (not abandoned midway - they've actually been in continuous development for several years). For example, Skyrim has a large, distributed community project to bring the entire continent of Tamriel to the game. For reference, the base game Skyrim is so named cos it takes place entirely in only one of that continents' provinces (the full continent has 9 provinces, including Skyrim). Meanwhile, there's also large projects to re-make the entire two previous games in the series (Oblivion and Morrowind) using the Skyrim engine. Those should give you an idea of the scale some of the mods out there can reach (and btw, the examples given are all in active development, and have even released some of their content already). And those are just the largest - even the ones one tier down from them are bigger than Skyrims' official expansions.
More on spectacle than balance? Mandalore I will have you know that having my 15 deathstrike missile launchers make the apocalypse games a whole lot more balanced... in my favor
Man this one was a trip, I didnt know I was missing out on such a huge amount of quality content. Cant wait to see you getting into the Doom modding rabbit hole.
I bought Dawn of War and all its expansions in a recent WH40K sale on Steam. I've enjoyed DoW so far and this mod looks incredible. Edit: on Dark Crusade atm. It's even better than Winter Assault and the first game.
3:10 Firestorm over Kronus? Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long, long time. What's up with it? Last time they renamed it to Firestorm over Karuva or something. So many DoW mods died with FileFront shutdown...
Conscripts don't fuck around. They reinforce faster than you can hope to kill them. In one game I managed to tarpit the entire enemy Necron army with them long enough to build several Baneblade variants and get all the artillery firing solutions plotted.
The thing that makes your videos stand out is that you seem to genuinely love making them and have a lot of fun doing it. Just hearing you have fun blowing shit up with your friends in DoW warms my bones.
After nearly ten years I could not believe this mod was still being improved. So glad to see it getting some spotlight. GW should take note: if your community loves something so much they'll spend 15 years making it better for free, make more of that exact thing.
It's really cool to see this mod getting more exposure. I believe it can be a truly great game one day (ignoring aspects of the engine I dislike but can't be changed due to the lack of proper modding tools).
Doing proper justice to the universe in an RTS is impossible. If that were true you'd have 3 million guardsmen corpses per minor skirmish and a squad of Space Marines wining entire campaigns.
+Ascended Life Form Christ, your username isn't a joke. I'd settle for a Paradox style grand strategy. It's the only practical way to get across the sheer scale of 40k without boring or confusing all, but the die hard 40k loyalists. You know, the type who'd replicate all of the 30k legions if given the chance.
This mod is amazing. Apart from the huge amount of content, I was impressed by the textures on the new units, looking good for the most part, similar to vanilla, but also by the lack of crashes(can't say the same for some other mods). If you are bored with the vanilla game-which is still really good even to this day, then this is more of that but turned up to 11. Also, the camera zoom has been improved(thank God),making the game actually playable now with all these massive battles(of course there are separate mods for that as well). Well done Cylarne and UA mod team!
Kenetic Kups It's a community project (going on for many years now). As the other guy said, it's mostly a multiplayer client (with awesome mod & map support), but they also improved the balance of the game. Just google it, you'll like it!
Yaaaay One of my favorite youtubers covers my favorite 40k computer game. I just got a gaming laptop and the first thing i did was to get this installed. I am having trouble with the graphics and whatnot. Thanks for having all the links in one place. Cheers MandaloreGaming
I love your style of reviewing/spotlighting something. The good, the bad, the funny, what works, why it works, the amount of information and effort you put into these video's is great. Is there a possibilty you'll review games like Tyranny or Baldur's Gate, or perhaps Vampire: The Masquerade?
I haven't played the latest version, but a friend of mine and I used to play it quite a bit. I may have to update and see the newer goodies that have been added. Nice job shining a spotlight on this mod.
Ahh, just spend most of the morning mixing cement for a new floor for my dad, and now, fresh from the shower, Mandalore gives me something to relax with, cheers mate.
A great thing about Warhammer is that it's like they took all the biggest and most bombastic parts of every other universe, and stuffed it together with their own over the top factions. You cant say "well, so and so universe has such," because warhammer already glued it into their story.
Does anyone here remember Enemy Territory: Quake Wars? That game was absolutely amazing in my opinion, I'd love to see Mandalore do a review on that thing.
I never really got into WC3 custom maps, but I was way, way into Brood War UMS maps back in the day. There were a lot of really cool ideas that started there and eventually got made into real games (far as I can tell BW UMS was the origin of tower defense etc.)
My man Mandalore.... Age of Mythology is amazing, I wish more people still played that game. I heard you use one of the tracks in the Fire Warrior video, and I personally find the music in that game has been stuck in my head for 20 years.
I got into this game a couple of years ago, and absolutely love it, but have been having consistent crashing issues even without mods, and it always happens the same way: at some point during a game, or shortly thereafter, all the buttons on my keyboard will suddenly cease working, followed by difficulties with task manager, and will then BSOD between 2-10 minutes afterwards. I've only ever had this specific issue with DoW, and was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar difficulties? Leave a like for the greater good and help a friendly Tau boi out please and thank you
@@a_loyal_kiwi88 Unfortunately not, the issue is unrelenting and consistent and I got sick of basically blue screening my laptop every time I wanted to try and diagnose it again, so I basically just haven't played Dawn of War in about 2 years. Makes me sad honestly, this is one of my favorite RTS games ever and I'd give an arm and a leg just to be able to figure what in the hell is wrong with it.
@@joeyberg5765 hmmm thats a shame, i assume you use the steam version instead ov a old disk copy? if so a hard install is alawys a thing to try, if problems persist you can try verifying the files cache, also the games settings should be at their lowest possible (aside from model textures that is since theyll go invisible otherwise). also the games dont tend to enjoy running in windowed mode, or alt tabbing likely due to their age. im able to play it just fine with windows 10 and rather low tier specs.... i dont know what else i could advise, apologies. id need to know more about your pc and such.
Playing this mod with friends was so much fun, I remember me and a friend just spammed out so many boyz that lagged out the game so much with the massive green tide.
To be fair, with the weapons the Titans have including the Cathedral? The answer is just.... Yes. As in, whether or not you can see it is irrelevant. It can flatten battalions just glancing in their general direction.
Wow after 10 years I tried to check this game out again cause it was lots of fun. This mod is absolutely ridiculous 😂 This modding community is out of their minds Thanks to all the dedicated modders ❤️
So glad you are showing more people this amazing mod. I learned of it years ago, and frankly, whenever I get a WH40K, itch I go to this. No other games can compare.
Just do not grace the discord with your presence. That place has gone to hell over this christmas. Firing mods for a merry christmas ping, pinging people over that firing and then, well, being quite an awful person about people finding that hypocrisy un-christmasy and ridiculous. Bans galore power trip, seemingly
Not the first time, I remember the mod was dead in the water for awhile because a few years back the mod owner went on a powertrip and "fired" his entire worker base. That being guys who were volunteering their time working on the mod, over a joke description on a new unit added at the time. They said they were gonna take ultimate apoc assets and start their own mod then the guy threatened to take legal action against them and its such a shitshow of losers flinging at each other its not worth paying attention to. Just gamer stuff I guess.
This mod is cool to play around with for awhile but you can't actually play a campaign because the on top of the near invincible units the ai will stomp you even in skirmish if you play on easy or normal you might be able to beat them but anything higher is next to impossible
I modded the mod a few years ago with rge or rgd editor. You can fix the balance how you want. I had it almost perfect but kept tweaking it without making 40 gigabyte backups. I ultimately broke the ultimate apocalypse mod. Now I’m starting over with this newer version. Anyway just wanted to mention that there are some tools available at their site iirc so you can change anything you want.

DOWFiles was a magical place. I liked the layouts and color scheme a lot better than ModDB.
Kronus and Kaurava are both from different games just fyi
Firestorm over Kronus was Dark Crusade, Firestorm over Kaurava is Soulstorm
SpecShadow I loved playing chaos in that mod. Since the armor of units was done really well.
8:45 "Others think its a fursuit for people that want to be robots."
Your videos just have these moments that keep me subbed
Virgin Marines vs Chad guard
more love for the guard
Conscripts don't fuck around. They reinforce faster than you can hope to kill them. In one game I managed to tarpit the entire enemy Necron army with them long enough to build several Baneblade variants and get all the artillery firing solutions plotted.
What about Pimaris Marine?
TheJoazzz Grey Gooard
Virgin Guardsman vs CataChad
The thing that makes your videos stand out is that you seem to genuinely love making them and have a lot of fun doing it. Just hearing you have fun blowing shit up with your friends in DoW warms my bones.
After nearly ten years I could not believe this mod was still being improved. So glad to see it getting some spotlight.
GW should take note: if your community loves something so much they'll spend 15 years making it better for free, make more of that exact thing.
Wow I don't think a video has felt so relevant to me as this! Thanks for providing awareness of that mod, I can't wait to dig down into my nostalgia.
I am so glad to be here thank you mandalore :)
It's really cool to see this mod getting more exposure. I believe it can be a truly great game one day (ignoring aspects of the engine I dislike but can't be changed due to the lack of proper modding tools).
Such a great mod.
It really did proper justice to the universe, unlike DoW 3...
Doing proper justice to the universe in an RTS is impossible. If that were true you'd have 3 million guardsmen corpses per minor skirmish and a squad of Space Marines wining entire campaigns.

Christ, your username isn't a joke. I'd settle for a Paradox style grand strategy. It's the only practical way to get across the sheer scale of 40k without boring or confusing all, but the die hard 40k loyalists. You know, the type who'd replicate all of the 30k legions if given the chance.
I was just replaying Dawn of War about a week ago and was thinking about how I would enjoy seeing you tackle an entry in the series. Really well done!
I finally understand this mod! Thanks brother.

"This bad boy can fit so many good videos inside his youtube channel!"
"The amount of units UA has, cannot make the engine FEEL GOOD!." Haha, he's funny.
I wish supreme commander had this loyal of a fanbase
do you know faforever?
17sechzehn
never heard of it
Continuation of FA?
sort of
for multiplayer mostly
Kenetic Kups It's a community project (going on for many years now). As the other guy said, it's mostly a multiplayer client (with awesome mod & map support), but they also improved the balance of the game. Just google it, you'll like it!
17sechzehn ok thanks
Yaaaay One of my favorite youtubers covers my favorite 40k computer game. I just got a gaming laptop and the first thing i did was to get this installed. I am having trouble with the graphics and whatnot. Thanks for having all the links in one place. Cheers MandaloreGaming
I love your style of reviewing/spotlighting something. The good, the bad, the funny, what works, why it works, the amount of information and effort you put into these video's is great.
Is there a possibilty you'll review games like Tyranny or Baldur's Gate, or perhaps Vampire: The Masquerade?
Props for The Masquerade, it was an awesome game.
Thanks for all your hard work man. Always a pleasure to watch one of your videos!
I"ve never made the first comment on a video before. Happy to do it on this channel! Keep up the good work Mandalore.
pls no?
to Dirpy Turtle
Why he can't post any comments? Is this a crime?
The description of installing the game seems so straightforward, but my eyes still glazed over. Perfect example of why I'm too dumb to plqy pc games.
- Will you review M&B: Bannerlord when it comes out?
- I'll probably be dead by then but if not - sure.
Well, we got you now, Mando.
I haven't played the latest version, but a friend of mine and I used to play it quite a bit. I may have to update and see the newer goodies that have been added. Nice job shining a spotlight on this mod.
When his friend saw the Titan, that was real fear in his voice.
Ahh, just spend most of the morning mixing cement for a new floor for my dad, and now, fresh from the shower, Mandalore gives me something to relax with, cheers mate.
Dawn of War soulstorm: 5/10
Dawn of War Ultimate Apocalypse: 40,000/10
You are one of the two people to get me into the dawn of war series,I actually fucking love you because you did that.
There is NO BETTER nor more EPIC universe than Warhammer 40k ... Not even star wars takes that cake
Nobody can Beat that!!!!
A great thing about Warhammer is that it's like they took all the biggest and most bombastic parts of every other universe, and stuffed it together with their own over the top factions.
You cant say "well, so and so universe has such," because warhammer already glued it into their story.
You're biased, you're the Emperor
I don't know. Unless the T'au take over the galaxy Warhammer 40k is a festering decrepit mess. Not what I'd call "epic".
Lord Zephyros Starcraft is pretty good
@@TheTattorack is that heresy I smell
Does anyone here remember Enemy Territory: Quake Wars? That game was absolutely amazing in my opinion, I'd love to see Mandalore do a review on that thing.
"Modding is a hell of a drug" is the single truest thing I've ever heard
11:38 Your answer genuinely had me gasping for air for a good minute or two
Please never stop being awesome Mandalore
EVERYBODY GANGSTA TILL THE CURCH STARTS WALKING
I've been waiting for a video on this mod for *so* long. Thank you Mandalore.
i see Mandalore video, i click
Same
I never really got into WC3 custom maps, but I was way, way into Brood War UMS maps back in the day.

Leave a like for the greater good and help a friendly Tau boi out please and thank you
its been a full year, did you ever fix the crashes?
Pornhub can wait, Mandalore just posted a video on my favorite 40k mod.
Great video, loved DoW and the Relic forums! Hi to all the old and new crew from Canada!

THE WALL OF GUNS!
hey shammy 6:10
always a pleasure to see you hard-working on new-videos :^)
“Does this thing have a range?”
Why yes it does. The range is approximately “WHATEVER THE FUCK I SEE.”
Considering how tall that thing is, it probably can't see infantry very well...
To be fair, with the weapons the Titans have including the Cathedral? The answer is just.... Yes. As in, whether or not you can see it is irrelevant. It can flatten battalions just glancing in their general direction.
Great video. I really hope he makes more mod videos. Mount & Blade full invasion comes to mind.
"the amount of units can not.. make the.. engine.. FEEL good." xD
Wow after 10 years I tried to check this game out again cause it was lots of fun. This mod is absolutely ridiculous 😂 This modding community is out of their minds
Thanks to all the dedicated modders ❤️
I always liked Titanium wars more. It has a bit less units but it's really balanced out. Check it out if you have time!
So glad you are showing this, me and my friends play this so much !
Anyway just wanted to mention that there are some tools available at their site iirc so you can change anything you want.
did a 4v3 impossible AI with friends on a siege map and we were able to win a couple of them after ten times of resets.
