Well, you dig the way I dig and the way Grinch digs! I don’t see anything wrong with your digging!!! It did look like a dead hedgehog, I am so glad it wasn’t! You have done amazingly well on your new plot! You have worked so hard, you can be proud of yourself! 😄👍💕🌸
Every time you pull back one of those plastic sheets Emma, it feels like the earth has taken a great big breath of fresh air for the first time in years.! I hope it rewards you grandly!! 😁👍
It's so brilliant to see all that plastic coming up. I bet Einstein is happy with the bare earth too. I love your videos so don't let the world get you down
Your enthusiasm keeps this old gardener from giving up, as over the past 5 years have injured myself several times, as my body recovered, my 2.5 acre has had a few weed plants decided that to grow vigorously. The past few weeks watching you has recharged my batteries. Thanks.
There's nothing wrong with your digging. I'd prefer garden fork to spade because I feel that fork is not damaging weed roots as much and you can get them out whole. Whereas spade may cut them and actually multiply weeds. But there are different people with different preferences and if you feel that the spade or the shovel does better for you then why not. But the shoveling itself looks the most natural way to do it. 👍🏻
Emma in the earth is healing. You do your allotment your way.. As long as you get joy and happiness from developing your plot that's all that matters. You go girl❤
Yay you! You won against your bad mood by accomplishing a difficult task. Also, for what it’s worth, I dig exactly like you do.I think we are the ones doing it correctly 😁
You go girl!! The hard work will pay off in spades (pardon the pun) I agree the sunflower seed head did look like a dead hedgehog. Thank god it wasn’t. Sorry youve had a bad day but glad you’ve managed to use up the negative energy to do good work on your new plot therefore turning it into something positive. . What an inspiration you are Emma!!!
You're winning , Emma. Best to use a fork when turning over the soil to get the roots out whole, instead of chopping through them with a spade. I know it's soul destroying and back breaking work, but you're getting there. Well done! Looking forward to watching your progress. Trim those branches to make wigwams and the larger ones may be used to make an arch. I don't know if you're allowed a bonfire? If you are, that's how to get rid of everything else (potash). Keep soldiering on.
Take a picture of the new plot today. Then put it side by side of the first day picture. Then you see what a great difference you have made . You deserve a big pat on your back. Well done .
I once saw a gardener train bindweed up strong bamboo...they painted the weed on the poles with weed killer.... keeps it where you can see it AND you can treat it at the same time.
Mounds of earth are pretty useful for filling raised beds and a lot cheaper than commercial compost, I think you work very hard on these allotments and the results are wonderful!
Hi Emma you doing great job on your new plot you dig witch way you want I know what you are on about that bloody weed the soil looks good well bye for now off on Monday on holiday to Turkey take care be safe
Sorry you having a bad day I hope it’s not anything serious. I find the plot lifts me just listening to nature and getting lost in doing things on the land is good for mental health. 👍🙋🏻♀️
Well done Emma you're making steady progress. My suggestion for you this week is anytime you dig the remains of a raised bed keep the pile of earth separate . It will have been supplemented with compost etc and will save a fortune buying new stuff. Carry on digging Einstein wants his lunch .
Bless you Emma you are doing a fabulous job.I love watching you whacking things in, keep on doing what you are doing I hope you are feeling better today xx
Hi Emma, It's starting to look good, you can seal the edges of your weed fabric with some heat, like a blow torch just enough to melt the edges and stop the fraying. Let Einstein have those pesky snail eggs! Best wishes Jenny
Emma, luv, take no notice of negative comments. You are doing amazingly well. Everyone does things differently. I can't get over how much you have done, and on your own.😮. You are my hero❤
Oh Emma defo can relate to that can't guarantee our wonderful British weather. Awww can't beat a lovely Robin in the garden wow as nature intend loving ya hedgehogs oh your racking technique is a1 emma
Love watching your vidios emma ,your digging and raking is fine allotments are hard work ,we are working ours at the moment ,youve come a long way in a short time ,an its looking good just do a bit at a time ,I think your very brave taking on a 2nd allotment and on your own .I bought your planner the other day off Amazon love it ,its going to be so useful and your art work is really good ,there's not much you cant do ,take care an dnt let negative comments get you down xxx
Sorry to hear you started with a crappy day but you did give me a big belly laugh when you said you wont talk to us.....lololol The soil is actually looking really good. By next year it should be easy and productie xxx
Can relate to this video had a college course n 1 thing had me going aahhh raking so didn't happen.. was told off my wonderful.tutor max relaxation, straightening the ground key using your tools very important very good advice, I love the nature foxes, hedgehogs..the birds chirping gardening is so therapeutic, relaxing another world away from hustle n bustle of city life. Had 2 hours session with a wonderful community gardener called jessie so learned so much I was a Newby to gardeningr but learned so much enjoyed everything I learned.
Looking great Emma. People with experience may offer advice. I agree it can be annoying when they stand in front of you in real life and you want to hit them with a shovel. 😁 Internet comments are par for the course. As long as the majority are positive. 😢
Hiya Emma be so proud because you're doing a fab job ignore the Mr Mrs Miss ect shovel message because I think you're managing so well absolutely love your blogs you've taught me so Much from another Emma in Norfolk 😊
It’s looking good. You are making progress. Get the loppers and cut up those trees into manageable sizes. Do you have an open fire you could season it for next year.
Your doing a great job Emma, you can definitely see how much you’ve done already. Loving your baby hedgehog 🦔 😊 Einstein is so cute 🥰 I’m imagining beans and peas climbing up on your cut down tree branches 😊
You might be in a bad mood, but you made me smile, with the “how am I digging bit” hilarious. bad start’s to days are only moments in time don’t let it get you down.
You know what Emma...DIG the way you want to DIG - let your body tell you when 'refinement' is necessary. About that soil on top of those ground mats - just a suggestion - I'd save that soil for in your new raised beds. Anyhoo...enjoyed the video [always do] - thanks for sharing! Be well - many blessings. Cheers...
No Emma you're raking it wrong.... haha, joking you're doing such a fab job, omg you're going to be finished in no time! To all baby hedgehogs out there, we love you - just dont die, right? ❤🦔🌿
That's a mammoth task you have taken on Emma, but you have done very well for someone doing it on their own. Well done you. I think Einstein drops by to spur you on. He seems to like joining you, probably hoping for some tasty worms.
Shovel school 🤣, your too funny , ignore those idiots , put that fustration into digging any which was you want to. Definitly get new ground cover for your new plot you dont want to put the old cover on if it has any bind weed roots in it , its reasonably priced for piece of mind you dont want that hard work going to waste , but the soil looks nice and crumbly with the addition of some well rotted manure will be fab to grow in , keep up the good work .
I reckon if you include a couple of pirouettes in your digging you’ll have it sorted 😂 If you need a plus just look at the ground you’ve cleared and imagine it with stuff growing 😊
Emma, I received my planner a couple of days ago. It's beautiful. Sadly, I've been bedbound with a flare-up since Tuesday, with no sign of recovery, as yet, so my new (first) plot is sat there without me and im down in the dumps.
I’m just watching one of your old videos, what happened to the handheld chainsaw? You could use that to chop down the wood instead of that saw! Keep up the good work!
You're doing really well Emma! Dig the way that suits you & that's the right way! Hope you feel better. My daughter has just taken on her first plot & she loves your videos!
Emma you are doing an amazing job, you set yourself a right task taking on the new Allotment. There's a lot of Men out there that would have walked away from it. I was gonna suggest, but I think you may be doing it anyway and that's work on a small section at a time, Fully clear & level one area and Mark it off then start on your next. Trying to clear all the Allotment areas at one time will become overwhelming. Small areas at a time are best.. that first section looks amazing Emma. You could deffinitly do with a new Garden fork though, it'll make digging the weeds out that much easier, right tools for the right job yeah.. xx
Hi Emma my dear, remember it's not about the end but about the journey, enjoy this process and little by little the plot will be beautiful. I really still think you are not working smarter but harder, you need proper tools, I am not saying to spend a fortune but you need a weed eater, a saw. I cannot tell you how much I love to see Einstein, he's very attached to you.
You are fab so inspiring me and my 17yr old went to our allotment this morning such ha4d work but we will get there eventually where ever that is lol ❤
Amazing, well done. I’ve just got an allotment and me and my fella are clearing that. I couldn’t do it in my own so you are doing amazing. Keep going you got this ❤
It's like any tool Emma, possibly there is some marvellous technique to which they are referring and I do know that in theory you push it in a certain way and when you pull back it gives maximum force however.....these tools are seldom designed to fit the average woman so my lovely you continue to dig how best works for you. So long as its moving what you want to move and you're not hurting your back then all's good.
Well, you dig the way I dig and the way Grinch digs! I don’t see anything wrong with your digging!!! It did look like a dead hedgehog, I am so glad it wasn’t! You have done amazingly well on your new plot! You have worked so hard, you can be proud of yourself! 😄👍💕🌸
Like that shovel school 😂

Absolutely 😊
It's so brilliant to see all that plastic coming up. I bet Einstein is happy with the bare earth too. I love your videos so don't let the world get you down
Don't doubt your self, you dig just fine, and you are working soooo hard. Some people just have nothing better to do!
Your enthusiasm keeps this old gardener from giving up, as over the past 5 years have injured myself several times, as my body recovered, my 2.5 acre has had a few weed plants decided that to grow vigorously. The past few weeks watching you has recharged my batteries. Thanks.
Emma you can’t dig wrong. I love your videos. You are funny and you work hard.

You’re doing a great job, Emma. That new plot was a huge challenge and look how much you’ve already done!
Take a picture of the new plot today. Then put it side by side of the first day picture. Then you see what a great difference you have made . You deserve a big pat on your back. Well done .
As long as your getting the job done, that is all that matters, just be careful

Bindweed is actually edible but you have to cook it first. The stalks, leaves, flowers, young shoots and roots are edible.
It's looking great your doing a great job ❤
