Wow, a huge task ahead of you... Time for the big suppliers to sponsor you with some power tools, leisure batteries, compost loo, workweek, and of course healthy snacks... COME ON ALL SUPPLIERS, THIS GIRL IS A HERO!
Couldn't agree more, you see loads of folk getting freebies (just coz they can) this girl - yes you Emma, are just fabulous. Watched you since the start and you're a do'er, you don't just talk a plot you do it and with what ever you've got - inspiration central...
Wow. Now I understand why people are on a waiting list for over 4 years for a single plot. You are the 4th you tuber I have watched now that has got second plot. Seems unfair to those waiting just for one plot.
Congrats on the new plot! One thing I’ll advise is with bindweed, don’t chop it all up into bits and then leave it as mulch like you said in the video, it’ll produce all new plants even with just an inch of plant left! I personally pull it to get the long vines of it in one chunk and then put in waste bin, not compost (you probably already know that but thought to add just in case sweet)
Good luck with your new plot, back in April last I was involved in a cycle accident, spent a lot of time in pain and lost interest in my allotment because of it but watching your clips inspired me to get back in to it and now my garden is thriving again and so am I so thankyou
That weed membrane at 4:56 is my worst nightmare. I took on an allotment this year and underneath the grass/overgrown bits was all that membrane. Took forever to get it all out, and I am still finding long strings of black plastic in the soil. People should stop leaving membrane down and reduce plastic use.
Congrats on the new plot, massive task. Personally i think the ground cover is a blessing. I always advise new plot holders to lay it down and smother the weeds and just pull back where you are working and re-cover until you are ready to plant. You will be surprised how clean the soil will be underneath. The bindweed will be one of your biggest problems. Don’t chop it up! Pull as much out as you can and dispose of it at your local tip. A good strimmer or hire one might be worth while to clear all the top growth and give you a really good idea of the layout of the plot. I am sure there will be a few surprises under all that top growth. Good luck!
Sending you a skip load of good wishes Emma I am thrilled for you and im thrilled for me because you are so funny and entertaining which means more content for us to enjoy . Please do not hesitate to ask for help im sure some of us would love to send you useful tools, materials, seeds, pots, etc . It would be great to give you something back so if you need string, labels, plant clips, mini cloches, pegs to hold plant covers down, marker pens, pea sticks or netting, weed fibre cloth , diatemaceous earth food grade quality for protecting against beetle, ear wig ,woodlouse etc damage especially on courgettes, squash, pumpkins, melons and so on.
Hi Emma, rather you than me. Mountain and climb comes to mind. I wish you well. Don’t rush in. Sit down and draw up a plan. There are lots of plants that love the shade, hydrangeas, fuchsias, begonias, primroses and foxgloves, just to mention a few. I love your enthusiasm. I’m getting on a bit now and I wish I had your energy. Good luck with your new plot and I look forward to seeing your progress and making a success of it. You’re spot on about the compost area. Make it large, pallets are free.
You probably know this already but the tree overhanging your new plot from the private house, can be cut back to the fence line if they cause you any problems.
What a wonderful episode here, it was a true surprise to me, with your content and excitement making this video a real must see! We can tell your super keen and couldn't wait there to begin, to cut it back and as if to prove it, you quickly got stuck straight in! 🙂
Well done Emma, you are going to love it. Perhaps the relevant council members have seen your channel and appreciate how much use an abandoned plot is finally going to get!
Magic news - will be watching eagerly. Get composting all those weeds. Pull up the weed suppressing mat and get that soil aired. Chop and drop. Cover crops. Shredder? Strimmer? Mower? Chainsaw? Get help! What fun (and buy a lot of radox bath salts cos you are gonna ache!)😂
Wow Emma you really really have work ahead of you. My backyard look like that when I bought my house five years ago. Take your time go slow don’t expect change overnight. I am excited to follow along and see how it goes if you need ideas or tips just ask us that’s what we’re here for.
Hello Emma. My opinion. Hire an industrial Brush Cutter, cut everything down to ground level. That way you get an idea what’s there and can start from scratch. Burn the lot if allowed because you don’t know what’s diseased and isn’t.
Eeeeeek how exciting!!! I for one am absolutely thrilled by this news, I found your channel once your plot was already established and looking great, I watched back a few of your older videos but honestly cant wait to watch you work your magic on this new one! Can't wait for the next video now 😁 x
Congratulations on your new plot, how exciting! Yes you probably are crazy but we love you for it 😂😂 please don’t take down all the trees, Einstein needs somewhere to shelter from predators. Now you’ve got a bigger area you can think big - asparagus beds, fruit trees and soft fruit cages, wildlife area, things that won’t take so much maintenance but will still provide you with a harvest so it doesn’t become overwhelming. Best of luck 🍀
I agree about the trees. In proportion to the amount of land you have, it’s a relatively small part? Probably a good idea to cut them back a bit though....
A good start to clearing the new plot. You will have a nice lot of composting materials for the compost you are going to need to fill all those beds. Good luck, you are young and a good worker and will succeed.
Congratulations on your new plot! If it’s a council run allotment, then you may be able to reach out to them for support in clearing and removal of all the old green waste. Failing that, burn the lot. Have a big bonfire in the middle and keep feeding it. You could add your blighted tomatoes to it too! Good luck!
I also have 2 plots and it’s been my 4th year.. it’s been hard at first and gradually it’s so wonderful to have a system going in terms of prepping the beds etc. and the best thing is I have so much different types of vegetables and fruit trees in my allotment just because of the extra space. It is truly wonderful. Pure hard work at first but the rewards are amazing
Oh wow. Amazing exciting. Right time of year as soon everything will die down and you can clear it completely and have a clean slate. I hope you get alot of people to help you clear the land. If you have 4 people you could probably do it in a week. All the best. Blessings. 🎉
good morning from Virginia Beach USA congrats on your new plot it will be cool to see it transform. I think that fox was trying to say its his plot! Lol.
I've had my allotment plot for 9 weeks now. It's easily the best thing I've done in a long time. I have a shed! Loads of hard work ahead but I love it ❤. Enjoy clearing your new plot. I've watched your videos for 4 years! I love how fun you make it x
Wow Emma, you've set yourself a massive task clearing that new plot. I'd deff reach out to tool makers to sponsor you and send you some freebies. Petrol strimmer is first on list, agree with others regarding the membrane, the soil underneath should be fine. Use your new Garden Planner Book to map out what you going to best use the plot for otherwise you'll end up redoing areas. Well done for taking it on.. x
Ohhh...I'm excited! Just like you, once i get started on something I want to keep going and going. Your head will be swimming with ideas❤ and a great time of year to crack on with it all too. Lots of luck, I'll stay tuned. Xxx
Thanks Emma, I’m waiting for the key for my new allotment plot. I know there will be lots of clearing but can’t wait to start. Really enjoying your vlogs..thank you for sharing.
Hi Emma. As a new subscriber, I am watching some of your videos from 6 months ago. This was fascinating to watch, and seeing the fox was an added bonus; I love foxes.
Congratulations Emma, it’s finally happened you have your second allotment. Looking forward to see it develop over the weeks and months to come, really exciting 👍😊
In the U.S., we either burn the bindweed or bag it up and send it to the dump. It multiplies times 1 million if you compost it. And even worse if you leave it piled on the ground. Also, blackberry canes mean blackberries next year. Please don't dig them up.
Wow I'm so excited for you that looks like an awesome task 😊 Can't wait to see it next year 😁 and yes I'll be watching the transformation it's going to be so cool when you're done 👍
The weed fabric is woven so it lets water through so thr soil wont be dead underneath it will be fine. I use that woven fabric on my beds and i just burn holes through so that the fabric doesnt unravel
wish I lived closer Emma, I'm from London originally but now live in South Wales. I'd clear that for you in about 3 hrs with my heavy duty strimmer for you. keep up the good work 💪🏼
Emma all the best with your new venture. Indeed many do not realise what hard work it is. I have one also and considering another,I'm just as excited and nervous as yourself. So rewarding though. Love it all. Xx
The fox 🦊 poo is marking territory. Lovely big plot should keep you busy and fit! The soil should be ok under the membrane as worms etc are still able to live and aerate the soil. Please keep as many trees 🌳 as possible, you’ll be glad of the shade and wildlife will thrive. Good luck x
Congratulations on your new plot……what a challenge but will be worth the hard work. Bind weed - nightmare. As Jamie said do not compost or mulch as any tiny bit multiplies really easily. Either burn or put into your waste bin. Good Luck and looking forward to seeing the progress.
I remember you mentioning this plot months ago! Good for you, Emma! you know, you could give Tommy and Alice each a whole bed to grow what they would like, weed and care for. It is good experience and fun for them, having a patch of grass, and a place to chill is really a great idea too! well done! looking forward to watching it develop !
Fantastic....will be hard work but I think it will also be good to show the realities of taking on a new plot. Just don't overdo it. Thought (as an early educator) maybe you could let your children have a bed so they can grow their own stuff too (now that you have more space). My boys had a raised bed on my plot and now the eldest is a homeowner he already grows his own....keep that circle going.
Emma congrats on your new plot.Really looks the business.Just wish I lived closer to you as I would come and strim and weedkiller all the bad boys.I would also cut down those overhanging trees and then leave you to it. Saying that I can see you are so happy again! Lots of love from north Wales.
This is great news , I’ve been watching your journey now for two days in preparation for the 30th when the kids and I officially own our first allotment plot and I’ve read so many books but watching your progress has really inspired me and I feel more confident now so I will be looking forward to your next allotment project 😊
Eek I have been on the waiting list for years and I got the call today for my first plot!! I'll be eagerly watching along for all the tips. I watch anyway, but I can't wait to essentially garden along with you all😊 x
We covered up a couple of plots after ph died.. the cover was a bind weed fest but underneath was fine. Let it breathe underneath and the flush of weeds will go mad... cut the tree overhanging if you can ..and it'll be a great time!! Get a hand scythe .. some of the japanese are great... make heaps as you go ...
Congratulations, that’s so exciting! I didn’t know you could have more than one! The one next to me is so overgrown and I would love to just take it over!
I was jumping with joy for you Emma, the best way to get rid of bindweed is to coat the leaves with glyphosate, this will take it down to the roots & kill it, when I got a plot it was in July so plenty of time to get it ready for spring, good luck ❤
Congratulations on your new plot, I would leave the membrane down for now, you could strim all the greenery off until you measure out where things are to go. The fox is just showing you he is marking his territory.
Nice space. Imagine the squash you could grow lol pumpkin patch. Petrol strimmer rental would cut that all down in a day. Especially with a brush cutter.

Congratulations, I’m so pleased for you. I’ve known you wanted that plot for ages. Well done you for all the hard work you’ve put in so far x
I am so excited to watch your progress on the expansion ❤
I would cheekily ask the council if they could give it a cut back. They could even take the greenery away. Worth a try.
Loved this vlog and congrats on the new plot, it’ll be great 👍 . Love watching people get stuck into jobs, so keep them coming!

Super excited for you Emma xx❤
Aaahh I’m so excited for you! Can’t wait to watch along ❤
Excellent. It’ll feel so good to get it cleared. You can leave the membrane as long as possible cos then it’ll keep some patches clear for you.
Congratulations on becoming a property developer Emma. You could consider going no dig in part of the new allotment.
Emma congrats on your new plot.Really looks the business.Just wish I lived closer to you as I would come and strim and weedkiller all the bad boys.I would also cut down those overhanging trees and then leave you to it. Saying that I can see you are so happy again! Lots of love from north Wales.

Wow Emma, I am excited for you
Just found your channel so excited to find you at the start of a new adventure.
Take care x
Nice space. Imagine the squash you could grow lol pumpkin patch. Petrol strimmer rental would cut that all down in a day. Especially with a brush cutter.
Congratulations getting your second plot, good luck ❤
You could grow some green manure type crops on your original plot.
OMG. CONGRATS ON ANOTHER PLOT 👏 🙌 💯 ❤..BEAUTIFUL AMAZING VIDEO..LET THE WORK BEGIN ♥
Wow I can't wait to watch the new plot be uncovered and see your plan going forward and wow it will be so much better as you say with no fence down the middle and cut them trees down to have one large plot and why don't you knock at the house with the over growing tree and ask if mind you trimming the branch back by law you can do this if you offer the branch back to the owner but most the time if you offer to cut it down and dispose of it then there more than happy for you to do so as it's free for them
