Great presentation Keith. I really can understand why so many out there want the first one to be rere. Your friend's a lucky guy. Yes this Larry auction was cool. So many gems.
I can't thank you enough Keith. So generous. As you already know I love restoring rc cars, and this won't be any different. Having said that, it being from the Larry auction makes it special. I won't get into detail what my thoughts were when opening the box as it would ruin the video my wife made. 👍
Ruud is going to love that! I remember when they came out back in the day and wanted one. Didn’t they make a movie about Three Willys, oh no it was Free Willy 🤣
The Wild Willy was the first Tamiya I ever saw. Loved to look at them, couldn’t afford one at the time. My first Tamiya was a Hornet. Fast forward 38 years thereabouts, one came up on the bay, in really good nick and very cheap. This is after I’d been whinging about how expensive the WW’s for sale were. I bought a WW2 body to run it with. I didn’t want trash the original.
My first truck was the wild Willy. I am pretty sure it was the short wheelbase as I remember that hole in the bracket. I am not really into vintage rc but currently walk crawlers almost daily ( retired). I have made my first steel roll cage and enjoyed the challenge of designing and brazing it. Australia subscribed.
I still have mine, it kind or runs but is in terrible shape after all these years. They rolled at the drop of a hat and handled like a pig but I still think it’s one of the most fun RC’s ever. Great video mate.
I got of these years ago bought for 10 dollars at a church trash and treasure sale had it for years a decided to give to my friends who collects and displays them
Dude your awesome doing what you do ❤ I love my original Wild Willy's 🥰, mix of mk1's and mk2's, not got 20 though, that's dedication 👏 😃 Got a couple of wild willy 2's, but they seem to lack mojo 🤷♂️ 😂
Very cool trucks and your two look great. These are super cool but I could never drive one for fear of breaking it! I am sure Rudd will be over the moon once he gets it and I look forward to seeing what he does with it. I have seen a lot of very cool paint schemes done on these over the years and like the Lunch Box and a few others they seem to work with a lot of neat and interesting ideas!
The originals are so cool but I could never drive one for fear of breaking it all apart! LOL! Rudd is going to be over the moon when this shows up and I look forward to what he does with it. I have seen some really great build and paint schemes with these over the year. Just like the Lunch Box and some others they look really cool in a wide variety of paint schemes!
Great video. As I have spoken about wanting the wild Willy for Xmas back in the day. Not sure on price or availability but my parents got me the original lancia 037 which I loved
Keith the wild Willy chassis tub was similar but the suspension mounts for the Audi was different have a look at your Audi and compare you will see the difference. 😊
Really Nice to see a video with The original Willy. One of Tamiya’s greatest…. Great video Thanks 😉 Very good looking SWB and LWB Willys 👍 Keith Do you also have them in NIB ? Also although a Wild Willy 2 is not comparable at all to the original it’s also nice to have. Lots of customization can be done.. Looking forward to future videos with Wild Willy.
Dearest Keef 3 videoes in 1 week ❤️❤️ I rather keep you alive than overdo rc videoes ❤️ promise to take care of yourself ❤️ I am a bit worried especially you are losing your hair. Dear ”Keef” I know it spells Keith but Keef looks fun’ner 😂❤️
You do realise that on all your wild willys you mounted the tires wrong? The profile is supposed to dig against the running surface when driving forward, not when in reverse.

Loving the Wild Willy family!
It's a testament to the true and good friend you are Keith.
Really cool to learn a little more about a car I know little about.
Thank you
It will be a satisfying restoration for sure
Wow that's so cool Keith 👌 he's guna love it 👍
That thing is cool as hell 😂.
Such a cool buggy, when it was more about having fun than winning the A-final 😁

They need to bring back both wild willy short and long wheelbase models of the originals.

I still need to finish my General Wil Lee. Now that I’ve got a new job I’ll be able to get into the swing of things
My wife had an Opel oscona when she lived in Germany. She drove it on the audobahn, and said the fastest she could get it was 100km/h lol
Looks great I might get a wild Willy Two
