Belis Breckenridge it’s still funny dumbass that’s part of the appeal, you either speak with proper English and get your point across in a straightforward fashion or you spice it up and use slang which can increase the humour because the person listening also understand the slang and is more inclined to laugh to demonstrate that their knowledge of the slang is not to be questioned and to make outsiders who don’t understand feel like they’re part of the outgroup that doesn’t belong and is unworthy of this conversation.
      Example:
English 😴: “Stop speaking this way to me or I may resort to using physical means to convey my sense discomfort in this conversation”
Slang 💪: “Yo twotwos nize your beak fam ‘fore a man like you get tomped up on their headtop for movin like wasteyute, ahlie? you’re a fuckin bucket g styll”

Andi Rose -Sarcasm, Andi Rose. Some dude in the comment section used the term "nob polished" and my comment was a sarcastic reaction to, I assume, his comment. Does that clarify things, or does "what the hell" refer to something else? I'm not being rude, I just care to know. Peace.

Andi Rose -For clarification: Sorry, the term used was "polishing my nob" but upon further examination the writer may have been also sarcastically responding to an earlier comment to which I responded sarcastically and so on. Did I/we go too far? As always, peace.

My dad grew up in the 70s and my grandfather grew up in the 40s: There was culture regression (I feel), like kids wearing sweatpants in public, shitty rap, and general lack of self respect in youth today. However my dad and grandfather can both testify the amount of bullying and straight up violence has gone down considerably in high school. They say that there were kids that got jumped literally every day in school.

I would totally believe that. People had it harder back then. Kids get abused and have bad homes today, but tonnes did also back then - it just wasn't ever talked about and nobody gave a shit. They're the kids that would get violent, I think. And it would've happened a lot.... maybe less gun violence, but they still had gangs and all sorts of shit.
Like, before the youth movement of the 60s kids were expected to be little clones of their parents a lot more. But I think they still would've been violent thugs a lot of them too.

Oh come on. Why does everyone need to bring up everything bad about a time whenever someone comments about something they appreciate of the era? Being civil and polite to one another was a value back then, and it's clear these young guys thought of women respectfully and of value, even though the government had some not so great policies in place. Many women did actually work in the 50s, not the majority, but women were highly encouraged to get a college degree anyway and be educated before marriage and kids. Women that were especially gifted and showed a lot of potential in university were welcome to the workforce, and during the era you had a lot of women working in programming and telecommunications. A lot of people think the 50s was like the start of the 18th hundred, but the 50s actually had a lot more opportunities and flexibility for women than what is commonly assumed.
