    Honestly, i think I've listened to this video more than any other one i can think of in my entire life. the musicianship.. the pocket.. It's rare. And the ability to just come out in front of what looks to be about 40 thousand people and lay it down raw like that. John needs to start working more with Pino & SJ. Hell of a trio. doesn't get better than this.

      Coming from Bills' live version, this is an abomination. Mayer is playing scared and as yet to play a decent lick halfway threw the jam. I bet Mayer cringes at this verison, hes gotten a lot better. His phrases and timing are horrible from a guitarist perspective. Mayer wouldn't be considered a good guitarist if he couldn't sing. If he couldn't sing no one would know who was. I'm glad people can enjoy it either way.

    I’ve been revisiting pieces of this on guitar for over a year, and finally discovered why it’s so difficult: you have to learn his acoustic songs to play his electric songs. 🤯
    Listen to that slap groove intro. It’s all over the A side of Live in LA.

    • @thewildhealer541
      @thewildhealer541 Рік тому

      In my opinion, everyone should learn acoustic. There is so much technique and potential lost in not being able to play classical. Mark Knopfler didn't even use a pick on his electric, barely any distortion but he made it sound heavenly anyway with his unique style playing without a pick. Just grow some nails and start learning 😁
