1:31 Urban is thinking I've waited for this moment all my life.... belting out "a love that lasts forever" when someone else is unable. Beautiful moment. Real love does last forever. No doubt about it.
Usually covers don’t do justice, but they made this their own. As a musician the original song leaves so much room for embellishing and adlibbing. Beautiful
What an odd formula ... Blues Guy John Mayer + Australian Country Guy Keith Urban + Old Beatles Song = Monstrously Great Jam! I couldn't put this on my playlist fast enough!
Great version. Keith’s guitaring is one of the best I’ve ever heard. John’s piece is brilliantly soulful and compelling. Together they create a glorious song.
John Mayer really is like the garlic powder of music, you put his voice and his guitar on literally anything and it sounds better. This guy worked with Ed Sheehan, Kanye West, Common, and Alicia Keys and brought the best out of all them.
I think John Lennon would have liked this. These guys ain't posers. They have the chops, the attitude, and the sincerity to play a song like this, and it really shows.
@jackringo1 they're playing blues scales, not just pentatonic.. but nothing compares to john lennon who is very well-known for his outstanding guitar playing, right? I mean the guy plays this song solely with open chords which is plain genius.
@jackringo1 hahaha you're just an old man that is scared because there are actually better musicians than the Beatles!!! ha the Beatles weren't even that good man....
I would venture to say that Mayer is a better guitar player than a singer and I mean that as a compliment because he's a good singer, with a good voice. I decided this after listening to him playing blues music. I used to think he was just a good looking white boy pop singer, but he's a hell of a player, and Urban isn't bad either. Mayer is also a better song writer than for which I initially game him credit. Gravity is damn good. Very sparse, but it says a lot in a few words.
Made by Dan Strain in Nashville. Check out the Keith Urban Rig RunDown where they describe the guitar. I have 4 of Dan’s guitars (2 teles) and they are great instruments
They each have their own different styles so its really hard to debate on which one is better. Personally I think JM is but Keith is right up there with him. Agreed though, together they are awesome!
Of course I am a very ardent fan of the Beatles, but these two nailed "Don't let me down" like hell. Their guitar handling is simply magic not forgetting their vocals
ThatEraSound It's not weird lol. Everyone has their own preferences. I like this version more too. But I don't neglect the original either, in fact I have deep respect for that version because if that hadn't been created, this version wouldn't exist either.

Hello 👋 Tammy. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
I saw this video and I was so happy and so overwhelmed to see both of my favourite artists performing together. It just saddens me to read some of the comments. You see, comparing won't do no one no good. Every artist has their own style, and every artist is different. John Mayer is someone who's really inspired me through his music and I love the work he puts in to his songs n music.
And we all know what a beautiful songwriter he is. He just writes stuff that touch my soul. And I just love the way he plays with words. John mayer is different from the Beatles, and I guess that's what makes him John MayerAnd hey, don't you remember 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all' .
1:31-1:34 Keith helps out with a high pitch note is the most wholesome scene. Point, JM was a year into his throat surgery and was still finding his feat

Interesting analogy.
Jacob Collier
The tone that Mayer comes in with at 4:12....Dear god!
Big eargasm time
I think John Lennon would have liked this. These guys ain't posers. They have the chops, the attitude, and the sincerity to play a song like this, and it really shows.
I think Albert King and Gary Moore and Stevie Ray Vaughan would love this.
He would've been jealous
@jackringo1 they're playing blues scales, not just pentatonic.. but nothing compares to john lennon who is very well-known for his outstanding guitar playing, right? I mean the guy plays this song solely with open chords which is plain genius.
@jackringo1 hahaha you're just an old man that is scared because there are actually better musicians than the Beatles!!! ha the Beatles weren't even that good man....
@jackringo1 well please state your argument, do you think that these guys are fake? that's what you made it sound like
I literally watch this every day. Best performance of the generation.
That ending was really really great
Okay but why ain't anybody talking about how beautifully that bassist complimented the both of them during that entire section of the song!?
His name is Sean Hurley and he's absolutely incredible
We were waiting for you to point that out.
Everybody in that backline has their shit together.
@@joshuafuller9898 yeah true but the bassist stands out in that section when two of the best guitarists are going at it.
Finally, a great bassist who plays justice for those McCartney bass lines.
This is how a telecaster and stratocaster talk to each other, it's like 2 brothers talking :)
Dody B Satriyo
Keith: so what did you eat today?
John: oh you know the usual
Danocaster tele
Made by Dan Strain in Nashville. Check out the Keith Urban Rig RunDown where they describe the guitar. I have 4 of Dan’s guitars (2 teles) and they are great instruments
dbob
I'll check it out.. then have my guitarist brother translate it haha
Wish I could like this 1000 times!!!! ❤️
The most beautiful rendition of DONT LETME DOWN I ever heard. LOVELy !
I was clapping like a moron the entire time. This was a great moment in musical history !!!
Instead of debating which one is better, why don't we focus on how awesome these guys are together?
Agreed!
They each have their own different styles so its really hard to debate on which one is better. Personally I think JM is but Keith is right up there with him. Agreed though, together they are awesome!
Absolutely!!
Of course I am a very ardent fan of the Beatles, but these two nailed "Don't let me down" like hell. Their guitar handling is simply magic not forgetting their vocals
GENIUS MUSICIANS. THEEE BEST!!! ROCK ON KEITH. ROCK ON JOHN!!!👍🍺👍🍺👍🍺👍
Its crazy how many people come back to this everyday... this song is masterpiece!
It's guitar sex man, what do you even expect. By far my most fav guitar porno
I need a daily John Mayer fix, lately anything with Dead & Co....but this always does the trick!
I literally just randomly came back to it for the 400th time. No reason, it just popped into my head and I had to get my fix. Sooo good.
It’s crazy how many videos you leave this exact comment on…
Man, you ain't lyin'!!!
Anyone watching this while quarantined 2020?.
Yes brilliant vesion
Of course brotha
Always
history brother..
Yooo!
I knew Keith was no slouch at guitar, but Jesus, that dude can Play!!!😎
The bite Keith gets out of that Tele is 👌👌👌
Urban’s tone sounds like how vanilla icecream tastes like
Hahahah john kinda has more of a pistachio ice cream taste and look if you ask me.
that tone is just gross...
Gus Oberdick in a good way
온올림은 무슨 뜻이죠?ㅋㅋㅋ
@@guso1330 hope you can play better
I gotta say, keith urban is one hell of a great guitarist. His guitar solos in this performance was mad!
Check out devil went down to nashville.
possibly the greatest guitar solo i've ever heard, even the part where his strap comes off, i'm not even joking. wish i could have seen this live.
MicrowaveWalrus Haven't seen much guitar solos then! hahaha. This was a very amazing performance, love it
@@Tristen95gi EXACTLY!
Two of the best guitarists from different genres honoring one of the greatest songwriting duos of all time.
That's a beautiful way to put it. 👏
I have watched this at least more than 100 times and each time it just gets better and better.
Other than the Beatles the best version I’ve ever heard
Yeah, Urban is a great singer, but a little more on the polished/clean side. I think nobody lives up to John Lennon's raspy original.
I actually find this one the best:D my opinion🙌🏼
@@milovahasarja ... That's REALLY weird.. you're probably the one out of five people who like it more
ThatEraSound what can I say I am a weird guy :D
ThatEraSound It's not weird lol. Everyone has their own preferences. I like this version more too. But I don't neglect the original either, in fact I have deep respect for that version because if that hadn't been created, this version wouldn't exist either.
Two straight men bringing out the best in each other.
This is the one... it's a whole vibe.
Love how they communicate musically. No words needed.
4:59 is literally when they start talking to each other with their guitars.
My goodness
Okay BB King Blues box time🔥
2:16 John's face is like "Ooooh" after Keith plays that killer lick...so good
Watch them do Sweet Thing together. Best ever jamming.
soooo smooooth
but I laughed hard at that comment and then watching the scene :-D Cause you know that's not true but looks like - that's what makes it funny. You know ... I think that face could easily be a meme :-D
MrWeareone777 agreed 100%
Without words John gave Keith one of the best honest compliments one could give
This is my song in the 80s brings back a lot of memories
♥️♥️💕🇵🇬
How are you? Beautiful song
It warms my heart to read these comments. Keith Urban for some reason is known as a pretty boy to many. But he is a hella good guitarist. Kudos for John Mayer on the vocals as well. I've missed his voice. And at 4:24 those guitars are talking to each other
Hello 👋 Tammy.
Anyone who talks shit is just jealous. These guys are successful musicians in their respective genres. Enjoy it or not. End of story.
***** Oh Jeff you jealous troll...go find something to do...like trying to give yourself a BJ. With your talent Im sure you will do well!
1:31-1:34 Keith helps out with a high pitch note is the most wholesome scene. Point, JM was a year into his throat surgery and was still finding his feat
My favourite part....
coolest part is keith had the same surgery 2 years before this!
Another preference...WOW Keith Urban can be fabulous with each artist he lets into his already divine style which I LOVE, have for many generations. Keepem coming Man, you are my Blessing 🤗💗😘
I thought he was just trying to sing over him
I dont hear any problems with Johns voice
Two distinct voices doing a great job, and perhaps introducing young-uns to the Beatle. Kudos, gentlemen. Keith, you sure know how to emote songs and that guitar playing, WOW.
I love this song Keith Urban and John Mayer did an amazing job covering this Beatles song
Oh those bass lines are the ones that give this music life
McCartney 🙏
Was looking for someone to comment that- great song originally and it takes a fantastic yet simple bassline to support these beautiful solos.
4:40 that third guitarist in the background pretty much sums up my lovelife
Zane Carney can rip it man. Look at the version of dear marie in Letterman. Carney is at his finest there.
Lol
U M AKE ME LOL
LOL SAME
Freek van den Oetelaar 😂😂😂👍🏻
I don't think I've ever been let down with this song
2 years ago, 2 years is when I stumbled upon this and for 2 years, its been my go to when I want to get inspired.
Keith Urban is an animal on those SOLOS... I think Keith Urban is a SOUL player that resorted to Country to pay the bills...Damn that was good.
I don't think Keith needs any help paying the bills.
@@madisonmosman yeah i think calling it "resorting to country" is disingenuous to the genre and his artistry
Jay Troxel You are so right, definitely a beautiful soul player the best. God bless you always .🌹💖💖🎉
@@BryceRogers_ That was not intended to be a dig at all on Keith :) .. or country music. But more of an affirmation that he plays with so much soul. He literally has so much talent.
Ohweee that nicole kidmann gots herself a live one, hahaha.
Both these guys OWN the guitar like a bodily extension
A perfect duet. No competition, just love for music.
Keith and John play some some awesome jams together. They are amazing. This song never had a better remake
