Yeah. I agree. My dog eats some kibble, some canned, some raw, some home cooked. She’s 14-15 years old, with no health issues.

The quality of human food has dramatically decreased so it's safe to assume that our pets' food quality has decreased, as well. Hence the reason for all the sickness and disease in both humans and pets. When I was a child, we never heard of a diabetic dog or a dog with allergies.

My dog has been on raw food for 4 years.. I buy it from butchers or supermarket.. meat, bone, heart.. a little green tripe, liver & kidneys.. he’s never had an upset stomach.. poo is always well formed.
In fact, rejecting jabs & flea/tick & worm medication and turning to raw has been the best thing for his health

We just feed our 3 Alaskan Malamutes human grade raw meat which we also make our meals with. They eat exactly what we eat but raw. What is not safe is people depending on processed food and not knowing what exactly we consume. Times need to change and Dr. Jones you are changing them through natural options. We do have choices so why not explore them without fear. Our 3 Alaskan Malamutes are being fed on biologically appropriate raw food which is much healthier for them and cheaper for us to buy. We have been feeding our dogs past & present on the BARF diet for 19 years and have been to the vets a handful of times in that amount of time. Being scared to take control of our own lives has left the consumer powers that be to influence us to believe what they sell. Thanks Dr. Andrew Jones for your commitment to educate the masses.

Yes, wild dogs eat meat, sometimes several days old. Dogs are Carnivores, and I don't think grains, vegetables, or fruit is appopriate in their diet. They would eat very little in the wild, unless they were starving and hadn't killed an animal to eat. My dog used to catch and eat rabbits, and all that would be left is the fur and the head. Just like humans, dogs are almost 95% Carnivores.

How do you make it bonzibonnie, in a crockpot, pressure cooker, etc. Also what 3 fruits do you add. I have 2 in mind-cranberries and blueberries perhaps? Also do you use all 3 proteins as ingredients at one time. And when you say a large can of pumpkin, is it the standard size can or the really large one usually right next to the standard size. I really appreciate and thank you in advance for your help and look forward to your response 😊❤

Dogs used to live to be 30 years old, back before dog food companies came out with dog food. In the 1800s and early 1900s what did they eat back then, raw meats and organs from cattle, sheep, and goat farmers and hunters and fishermen plus table scraps. I am personally going back to that with my two German shepherds because I want my dogs to live to be 30 like in days of old. Dog food companies are way too greedy and have ruined our trust in them. The fact that they make dogs die way before their time now is all the proof I need. love your videos thanks for the good work

@@Regi254. Hi regi🙂 here's how to make some easy home cooked homemade healthy meals for your dog..
1/Boil water first in 2 separate large crocks enough to fully cover chicken legs then cook boil simmer 4-5 kilos of chicken legs casseroles for 1 HR 10 mins, make sure chicken is fully cooked no pink meat showing that you can see, drain off water be very careful very hot water and heavy 😲then let cool down in casseroles outside and cover netting stop any flies or put in cool dark place closed in.
Now Strip off all chicken skin discard,de bone chicken being very careful of small bones difficult to see!
Put stripped chicken meat into containers put bottom fridge coldest part min 3-4c.
You can keep up to 4 days.
2/Next large pan water boil up add 2 large Sweet potatoes
peel and dice up into chunks, boil water and Cook 15mins until soft, drain cool down and mash up,put in container fridge .
3/Do the same with 4 large carrots same method.
4/Next large pan water boil up add 500g+ of frozen long green beans or more depend size dog ect simner about 7 mins drain cool down put into container fridge .
5/Pan water boil up, add 4 large eggs simmer cook 10 mins, drain cool down put in fridge .
Btw you can use the egg shells a source calcium!,put them in oven on tray low heat and bake 15 mins then take out and crumble into powder add to dogs food.
6/Brown Rice 200g wash through clean with water twice ,cook it up(no salt!) I use a rice cooker, let cool then put into container fridge.
7/Tins of sardines in sunflower oil I give my dog a GSD 48 kg 1 can a day rich in omega 3 & 6 oils mixed in food.
Yes it takes a few hours+ to cook prepare but if you make a batch for 4 days then not so bad👍☺️🐕❤️🇬🇧
To vary the meat protein diet I will alternate this diet and buy 3 kilos fresh beef mince human grade, cook it in a large casserole pot until brown and thoroughly cooked then drain out all most of the fat which will be a lot, leave a bit for taste flavour and dogs do need some fat in their diet, let cool put into containers fridge.
You can also use turkey mince also as alternative meat protein.
Btw fresh herbs can be sprinkled mixed with dogs food too, rosemary, basil, marjoram.
Alternate veggies can use light boiled short time spinach, rich in iron, brocolli remove stalks just heads.
Hope this helps you?, it not hard but basic cooking like you would do for you or family!
Good luck and hope this helps you to cook healthy meals for your 🐕❤️🇬🇧

I have been giving my Labrador raw dog food for over 10 years and another dog I had to put down with Cushing disease was over 15 years old, and she had raw food for 14 of those years. Both dogs have never had worms or salmonella. I worry more about my Labrador eating garbage off the ground or kibble of any kind. They get raw food with organ meats, veggies like carrots and spinach raw eggs with crushed up egg shells, fish slightly cooked...plus the big dog can eat any live game he can catch. Most Vets need to let go of this notion that raw is bad for pets. They should send their profitable inventory of kibble back to their supplier for a refund. Most people cooking chicken or turkey for their family knows how to handle raw food. Vets are putting profits ahead of healthy pets and stop using scare tactics to increase their sales.

Not really true. My dog eats what we do, only no spices or food that will hurt her. She does get some raw food every now and then. Wild dogs, absolutely have the stomach to properly kill things off. Our dogs? Well, their dna has changed quite a bit. They have been bred to have better temperaments, the more desirable traits. I lived near 4 coyote dens. The pups can be mean as well. Our pups? Sweet as sugar most of them. That's why a lot of stray dogs do not make it. They stave to death. Or eat rocks. Wild dogs do not do that. They hunt mice and rats if there is nothing. So, no, he is correct. While they're similar, it doesn't mean they're the same. But what does he know, he only went to school and studied this.

Regarding grapes: please also never let your dog eat currants. They are the same family as grapes. My pomeranian ate a few currants that had fallen off a bush in my garden. I shooed her away from it, but didn't think twice about it. The next day she was seriously ill and was hopitalized for 3 days. Even most of the staff at this emergency vet hospital didn't know about currants. I was always very careful to not let my dog eat a list of about 10 foods that are toxic to dogs. Well, she was deemed as recovered, but it set in motion a long slow decline from chronic kidney failure. She was fine for a couple of years, though she tested as having rather high protein in her urine. The last two years she became increasingly ill. It was such a tragedy, because she'd been a very happy, healthy, active dog until she ate the currants.

We are lucky here in New Zealand to have some great raw food suppliers. They make a frozen raw mince product in multiple options including mixes that exckude the common allergens chicken and beef. We found raw through trial and error as our pup had skin and digestive issues. After 2 years on raw, he's healthy and happy. The mixes we buy include ground meat, bone and organs and tripe. Theres lot of wild meat options including rabbit possum salmon venison and goat. For salmonella etc its just the same as handling our raw meat and chicken. I wash my hands when I fikish dishing him up. Dogs digestive systems can cope with eating dead animals so frozen fresh meat can hardly cause an issue. Our vet is based directly across the road from the Raw Essentials food shop and yet they had never heard of them when I asked and didnt recommend raw. The vet waiting room has one wall lined entirely with processed kibble. Its a huge industry.
When i did the research into raw I read about a zoologist who ended up working for a guide dog training place in Australia. He was shocked by how many dogs had allergies and gradually changed all of them to a raw diet with astounding results.
We all know that over processed food is bad for us and we are enxouraged to eat as close to natural as possible for good health.
Why would animals be any different?

Great comment. The pet food industry like the human food industry is profit based, not health based, they use the cheapest ingredients they can get away with, lie about it being healthy and mark the prices up as high as they can for maximum profits. Hence the increase in cancer and chronic illness for humans and our pets.

Our local butcher makes a ground up meat, offal, bones loaf - so basically what they’d normally throw out I guess(not much fat) - you can choose chicken, lamb, or kangaroo - it is wayyyyyy cheaper than the high end dry kibble we give our dogs. Used to get Royal Canin but that’s over $200/bag now in Australia!!! That’d last us just over a week for our two large dogs. Crazy!
Now we get the dry dog food from a local fodder store. And the dogs get their raw mix 2-3 times a week.
      Happy doggies!

I don't think grains are appopriate for dogs. You would never see a wild dog eating oatmeal, corn, wheat, etc. Dogs are Carnivores. All my dogs have lived long, healthy lives on just meat, eggs, bones, cartlidge, and animal fat, with occassional organs added.

No grains are healthy for dogs. My frenchie eats raw as the basis of his diet, some grain free kibble, raw fish, raw egg and some cooked vegetables, occasionally a little bit of fruit, but no grain. When he accidently eats anything made from grain he gets very gassy. Grains are for mice, birds, rabbits etc.

My last dog ate freeze dried raw food. My present dog has never eaten "traditional" dog food barring the grain free puppy kibble he ate in addition to his raw food. At around six months he stopped eating the kibble all together and has thrived on the freeze dried raw food. When he has run out of his food or has been a bit persnickety I have a vet approved recipe for raw meals that I put together myself using all organic meats and organ meats as well as
    Organic veggies and berries...

Thank you for your videos. I’m glad you mentioned the “meal” as an ingredient. There’s a local food company and all their dog and cat foods’ first ingredient is (protein)meal … chicken meal, lamb meal, etc. When I asked them about it, they told me that it’s actually healthier because they use all parts of the animal. But what I’ve noticed is my dogs and cats often won’t touch it depending upon the batch.

    • @sidsnyder8043
      @sidsnyder8043 7 місяців тому +1

True, but most processed dog foods are full of fillers, like different grains. I don't think grains of any kind are an appropriate food for dogs. Even vegetables and dried fruits are not necessary, as dogs are almost entirely Carnivores. They get all the nutrition they need on the muscle meat, fat, and bones of mostly ruminant animals. A dog in the wild eats almost the entire animal, even some of the bones for calcium and the cartilidge for collogan. I never had a problem with my dogs eating meat or beef, lamb, chicken and pork fat.

There are holistic vets popping up all over. Traditional veterinary medicine is so out of touch with today's reality. My suggestion is you switch vets. If that's not an option, feed raw and lie to your vet. Chances are your dog will be much healthier and won't need to see a vet very often anyway. Feeding raw is your decision and if a vet cannot respect that, it's time to take your business elsewhere. Good luck.

Love your content so just sharing my experience. Spot on about the raw food and Vet recommendations. Funny thing, dog trainers I have interacted with, all feed fully raw to thier dogs. The healthiest dogs I have ever seen are Mexican street dogs and all raw feeders. Of friends who have had pet health issues, including myself, kibble was the diet (I have since switched to raw). However, ALL of the "absolutely never feed your dog THIS" stuff. ALL of it I have given to all my dogs for decades. Never an issue. Maybe just my experience but I think these "never feed" foods need to be in large quantities to be of any issue, or the dog has other health issues (IMHO). My wife is from Mexico and thier experience has been the same for all of thier dogs going back 50+ years.

I've had six Dobermans since the mid 70s and when I got my first puppy, my excellent vet recommended that I should feed her dry Pedigree puppy food and switch her to adult Pedigree when she got older.
He recommended that I feed her twice a day and that I should moisten the food with hot water and let it absorb until it cooled. The food expanded in the bowl and not in her stomach and she didn't need to gulp down a gallon of water in order to digest the food.
She lived to be 14 years old...as did all of my Dobies except one, who was a blue and had to be put down at 8 because of an inherited, untreatable skin condition that blues get.
My last Dobie made it to 14.5 years old and ate Pedigree twice a day all of his life.
The rescue Dobie that I have now was in bad shape when I got him. Very dry, flaky skin and hard stool. They gave me a big bag of Purina Pro Mix with him, but I weaned him off of it and switched him to Pedigree and his skin and hard stool problems went away.
He also gets a little of what I eat mixed into his food every day...meat, fruits and veggies...and raw beef marrow bones to gnaw on to keep his teeth clean. He gets no commercial treats, bully sticks or rawhide chews.
I can't afford to feed an 84 pound Doberman 'specialty food' and commercial dog food that you pick up in the store is pretty much all of the same, so you just pay more for the name.
I was able to get Pedigree in Costco or BJ's but they stopped carrying it in favor of the more expensive brands, so I can order it online from Chewy and get it delivered to my door. Can't get the 55 pound bags, and the 40 pound bags cost as much as the 55 pound bags used to, but it's still a good price compared to Purina.

When I purchase, I use an isolated bag with a bottle of ice on my way home. I follow the instructions for thawing and conservation. I really like the format. They are patties of 120 g. easy ti portion. I add just a bit of water and mix. They have the same format for dogs. The brand is "Faim Museau". It is produced in small batches and all ingredients are traceable. Like I tell people, the risk is the same as if you were preparing some raw chicken for your own dinner. Wash your hands before and after. They have chicken, chicken with salmon, sardines, beef, etc.

    On the subject of grapes:
.When my jrt was young, she used to jump up and pinch all the grapes on the vine, and that was 11+ yrs ago. Shes 14 now.

Vets who don’t recommend raw food usually do that because they get kickbacks from certain major pet food companies. In addition, any vet who is concerned with raw food does not have a firm grasp of comparative anatomy and the anatomical differences between carnivores, omnivores, and humans. Avoid them.

Thank you, Dr. Jones! What do you think of freeze dried raw minimally processed food for dogs and cats?

Raw freeze dry is the basis of my dogs diet. There is a company here in Australia that does, organic, human grade, ethically farmed freeze dry food for dogs and cats. It's expensive, but after doing a lot of research it was what I decided on. Check out Karen Becker's video on the list of best to worst foods for dogs. Balanced home made raw or bought is the top of the list, but freeze dry was up there.
