This job is pretty straight forward and will save you a few dollars. The inline Jeep 4.0 engine is really simple to change plugs in. Just remove the DIS bar and boom the plugs are right in the open. No need for special sockets or extensions here. remove the plugs check the gap for the new plugs and install them.

I’m going to check my coil pack tomorrow with my multimeter - I’m getting a crank and no start condition. Before spraying some carb cleaner in the throttle body to see if it’ll start and potentially figure out if it’s fuel related I’ll check my coil pack - this video helped me in checking to know which pairs and cylinder fires together

Why the hell can’t I get any readings with the probes touching the springs inside the coil pack

Great vid, you should always check spark plug gaps anyway, I have found them closed up right out of the box.

Several things, Replaced the water pump and then noticed it was missing after I drove it . I watched your vid and then replaced the coil pack and plugs, then noticed her emission line was cracked, replaced the elbow and line coming from valve cover. A lot of running back and forth to the store. Runs great now.

    My ignition rail reads:
1 and 6 no reading or infinite
2 and 5 no reading or infinite
3 and 4 no reading or infinite
    conclusion, cooked ignition rail
By the way, automatic thumbs up: hood louvers on a TJ! It was the single best unintentional upgrade I did. While offroading, a huge branch fell on my hood. I always hated the look of the hood louver on the TJ and mocked it as a ruined hood. Well, the price of a new hood was horrible. The louver was very affordable. I had no intention to cut holes in the dented hood, just put the louver on to cover the dents. But I decided to put on the louver on correctly to cut out the dents anyway so water would not pool up in the hidden dents. After I was done with the installation, everything looked the way it was supposed to look and the dents were gone. But I was furious at the look of my hood. Grunting, I went for a long ride to pick up a new fan clutch from a junkyard. I picked up the fan clutch and drove back. I am used to working on my Jeep in a hot summer's day. I usually get the part, then open the hood for about one to two hours, to let the horrible heat out. I stopped and opened the hood to vent the heat. There was barely no heat under the hood as compared to what I usually got! It was the louver working! I was able to pull the old fan clutch and install the new one immediately. I love the hood louver so much that I grew to love the look. Whenever I see an old TJ with an aluminum or black hood louver, I think to myself, "There goes an intelligent Jeeper that also appreciates functional beauty."

When testing the coil packs, how much of a difference from the other packs would cause you to think the ignition coil needs to be changed? On my TJ, 2&5 is about .4 Kohms off from the other packs. Ive been getting a p0300 code so Im wondering if changing the ignition coil needs to be changed?

Can’t you just pull the fuel pump fuse, hook an inline spark tester to each plug and coil on the coil strip? Or since they fire in pairs will this method not work?

I noticed on my old cool a very small piece of the plastic the locks grasp onto is broken off... I'm thinking that it may be stuck in the connector but I don't see anything... Hola Bullshitkorner....greetings from Venezuela. Thanks a lot for your videos....very helpful. About the last part of the video, I would like your comments on this: I have measured (by pairs 1&6 , 2&5 , 3&4) ) and the reading matchs with yours : all three pairs around 15 KΩ But, the remaining measures ( every coil with the remaining coil different to his pair), is indicating about 0.3 MΩ...not OL (totally open)
...why am I checking the ignition coil ??? Because, from 2 weeks ago, after starting the engine, if I don´t keep accelerating, the engine goes off vertically .....(the main sensors has been checked with scanner they are not indicating issues : IAC, TPS,MAP)
.....could I suspect that the Ignition coil is having issues according with the readings shown ???
...could the ignition coil's issues causes this behaviour , I mean, power off the engine ???
    Thanks in advance.....
If I could, I will send a POLAR beer box to you......ja ja ja
(POLAR is the most popular beer here...and the most tasty)
