    Had no idea what this was or where it was located. Hubby is busy today and we been needing to get this replaced for quite some time. Just got it pulled off after I found your video. Some of my spark plug covers didn't come off quite so easy. But, thanks to you and me, hubby has one less honey do job to complete. Video was nicely explained and to the point. No beating around the bush and a bunch of info I didn't need.

      If it worked before you did this then make sure all spark plugs are in each connection to the coil pack and more specifically check the wiring harness connection to the coil pack.

    This is crazy. I always thought this was a straight 6 cylinder. Thanks for teaching me that it's actually a v6. Hahaha

    Thanks for the video! My dad and I just switched mine out in my 2001 and your video helped a lot! Other than getting that connected off (like you said), it was a breeze! Saved me hundreds that the shop wanted to charge me.

    FYI: I had such a hard time pulling my old coil off some of the springs inside a few of the rubber boots of the pack were stuck and stretched like a slinky when i finally got it off. So, To make it easier to remove in the future put a little dielectric grease on the inside of the rubber boots.

    make sure to inspect every plug hole on the new coil to make sure that each one has a contact spring inside that makes contact with the spark plug. i put on a brand new and numbers 1 and 3 were missing which caused problems.

    Hi James, did this fix your issue completely? My TJ has similar symptoms. Was yours also throwing codes P0351, P0352 and P0353??

      Hello, thanks for checking out the video. I'm sorry but I don't remember the exact codes and it seems I did not put this in the description. Once I replaced this part my problem did go away. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck!

      You caught me. My jeep is a JK and it does have a V6 but this was my daughter's 6 cylinder TJ. I need to remember what jeep I am working on. :D

    The bolt head sizes are 1/2"(requiring a 1/2" socket). I don't understand how Jeep people think these are metric engines.

    • @FixinCat
      @FixinCat 11 місяців тому

      Well the fasteners on my coil strip are most certainly marked with a “9.8” designation which would indicate they are metric, unlike the dash markings on standard hardware. Furthermore the coil pack bolts on my 2000 year model engine are M8x1.25 thread. So yes, is many cases your 1/2” socket will get it done , but more accurately it is a 13mm head. Go put a 5/16-18 in that hole, us Jeep people are waiting for the results. 🤓

      Almost every bolt in my 01 xj is metric. My 98 5.9 limited zj is a hot mix of both. 68 dauntless commando is sae all day

      I used a 13mm. Stay mad

    • @outspokengenius
      @outspokengenius 3 місяці тому

      @@jarrodmcmillian1747 13mm is pretty much exactly half inch. Half inch is .500" 13mm is .511". I guarantee sockets aren't made with that tight of tolerances. Neither are bolt heads considering there either hot or cold formed not stamped or machined.

    Right out of the gate this dude calls his motor a V6. How are we supposed to trust anything after that??

    • @HowToWithJames
      @HowToWithJames  10 місяців тому +5

      It is a 4.0 liter straight 6. I made a mistake. If you don't want to trust my video please move on to the next one.
