Angela van den Bogerd, a former senior director at the Post Office, arrived at the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry on Thursday morning.
She began with an apology on the first of her two days of giving evidence, telling the inquiry she was "truly, truly sorry" for the "devastation" caused to wrongly convicted sub-postmasters and their families.
Errors in the Post Office's Horizon IT system meant money appeared to be missing from many branch accounts when, in fact, it was not.
As a result, more than 700 sub-postmasters were handed criminal convictions between 1999 and 2015.

What would you say about a person who allowed the prosecution of many innocent people when knowing from what they'd been told the prosecutions were unsafe, relying on a dysfunctional computer system that she knew to be dysfunctional. We are now more than twenty years on.

You cannot say sorry for what you have done. All of you Post Office executives knew the truth and you hid it while people suffered injustice and persecution for years on end. You should all be convicted and jailed for what you have done. "Sorry" is simply not good enough.

The main thing she should be apologising for is being totally incompetent and overseeing a totally incompetent, investigative, legal and prosecutorial group of people who no doubt popped the champagne after each conviction.
Every one from the post office involved in this scandalous issue, must be given jail terms. They ruined people’s lives, marriages, careers on inaccurate information at best and fraudulent at worst.

An apology is an admission of guilt. The thing is, even though people have lost their lives because of this, if a court finds post office execs guilty of offences will they face jail time? I very much doubt it, there is a hierarchy of punishment in this country depending upon your social status. If there are fines, well then the customers of the fined company will have to pay for it. They may get fired but that will take the form of well renumerated gardening leave until head hunted by another business who will be pleased to welcome them as proven ruthless bastards. They lead a charmed life, protected by judges.
If anybody that the Post Office prosecuted during her time were to say they were "truly sorry" it would have made no difference to that persons situation despite their being innocent. Senior management always think they are untouchable and that everything they do/did was for some "greater good" but the "greater good" is always their pockets and their careers. Angela van den Bogerd has not suffered any hardship unlike the people prosecuted underneath her chain of command. Angela van den Bogerd is far too self absorbed to be sorry let alone "truly sorry". This inquiry must result in criminal investigations and charges because Angela cannot be "truly sorry" when innocent people have committed suicide, been imprisoned and suffered long-term hardship because of her actions or lack of action at the Post Office.
It's been delicious watching the lawyers help her to trip herself up. Look forward to the day when she's in a court of law facing criminal proceedings.
But not so sorry she's going to do anything to make amends to the people whose lives she destroyed. Is she going to meet them personally? Is she going to make it up to them financially? Is she going to go to their communities and say that she covered up the truth and the subpostmasters were innocent? Of course not.

This person is a criminal. As are the rest of the Post Office senior directors, a large amount of the management, MPs and government Ministers, not to mention the minions, the lawyers and solicitors who worked for the Post Office.
All must receive very long prison sentences, and their assets seized and distributed amongst their victims. That would be true justice.
Where is the criminal investigation into all of the above criminals by the British police? You've guessed it. There isn't one! When it comes to a days work, where proper work is involved, they are work shy.
